Rich Homie Quan Bets JID $1 Million For Proof He Offered Him A ‘Disgusting’ Contract

Earlier this year, as JID promoted his new album The Forever Story, the Atlanta rapper recalled some of the record deals he considered before signing with J. Cole’s label Dreamville, including Quality Control and Rich Homie Quan‘s label. However, in explaining why he turned down those deals, it looks like he’s incensed at least one of those parties. In a new interview with HipHopDX, Quan not only refuted JID’s story but he also bet big money for the Dreamville rapper to prove it.

“I remember talking to JID,” he recalled. “He’s from Atlanta. As far as the contract, that’s cap. He knows that’s cap. I’ve never, ever sent no contract to no artist. If I want to sign you, I’ve got the best entertainment lawyer in the world. I’ve been in f’d up situations so why would I put an artist in one? … If he can show me a contract that I sent him, I’ll give him a million dollars.”

Of course, the recording industry is as littered with tales of inequitable contracts as frauds and scams, so it’s possible that both artists believe that they’re telling the truth. Perhaps some unscrupulous hustler used Quan’s name to lure artists to their own endeavor, or perhaps Quan was unaware that a legitimate offer he made included JID, who’s a member of Spillage Village along with Earthgang and may have been a package deal. Either way, the real takeaway should be clear; artists should always make sure their business is in order.

Rich Homie Quan has announced a partnership with Venice Music, a cutting-edge music and technology firm created by Troy Carter and Suzy Ryoo. Under his new label Rich Homie Entertainment, which will be serviced by Venice Music, Rich Homie Quan will independently release music. RHQ and Stronger Together have also entered a new co-management agreement.

Rich Homie Quan, who is well-known among fans for his melodic trap and mumble flow, rose to fame for his catchy songs, including the number-one hits “Type of Way” and “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh).” Next week, on August 31, 2022, Rich Homie Quan will release his single “Krazy” via Rich Homie Entertainment/Venice Music, giving fans fresh music to look forward to.

“For my last 10 years in the game, I have learned independence is the lane for me,” said Rich Homie Quan.  “I am blessed to meet Troy and his team, and I’ve been impressed with their work to help RHQ Ent excel. I am grateful to God for this alignment. I look forward to working with Venice and my managers at Stronger Together for many years to come.”

Venice Music Director of A&R, Brandon “Redd Rush” Terrell, added, “Rich Homie Quan has always been a staple in the Atlanta culture. I’m excited to partner with him and his team on this new independent journey. Welcome to Venice.”

Venice, which prides itself as “your companion in navigating the growing world of music,” is readjusting the balance of the music industry to create a more welcoming environment for independent musicians. Troy Carter, the company’s founder and CEO, teamed up with co-founder Suzy Ryoo, a financial expert, to streamline the overly complex distribution process. Venice Music is the result, a cutting-edge, current, and modern endeavor. They offer an all-in-one interface that enables musicians to share music, handle royalties, and keep track of their performances.

On the new partnership with Rich Homie Quan, Carter said, “Not only is Quan an amazing artist, his entrepreneurial prowess is equally impressive. We’re looking forward to helping Quan build his label, career, and business.”

Rich Homie Quan Cooking Up New Music With Bow Wow

With the recent arrest two of Atlanta’s biggest artist, fans have been requesting new music from Rich Homie Quan. In no time, the “Type Of Way” rapper responded. Recently, Rich Homie linked up with Bow Wheezy for a studio session.

In the short black and white video posted on social media, Bow Wow introduces Quan, and as Quan rubs his hands together he states, “What’s going on, what’s going on… I know they didn’t expect this but this is what’s going on.” The video ends just as the beat drops.

In 2013 when Rich Homie broke on to the scene as one of the fresh new faces emerging from the South. He captivated fans with his Still Goin In: Reloaded project, which included, his hit single “Type Of Way,” which peaked at No.50 on the Billboards top 100.

He then went on to drop a collaborative Rich Gang project, which included Birdman and Young Thug. The Rich Gang project went on to become an historic tape and it’s still considered one of the best collabs ever with one of the hottest songs of this era, “Lifetime.”

Since then, the two ATLiens fell out and Rich Homie flew under the radar. Well now fans are calling for him with an urgency and it’s seem like he’s going to delver.

Fans Oppose Lil Baby’s Inclusion In The Latest Mount Rushmore Meme Featuring Atlanta Rappers

It seems that every so often, the “Mount Rushmore” conversation resurfaces on Twitter, bringing with it another round of debate. Over the past few weeks, Mount Rushmore memes have returned in a big way thanks to a Rap Caviar post about the Mount Rushmore of the 2010s. While that debate mainly revolved around the absence of Nicki Minaj, the latest iteration has inspired even more spirited debate thanks to a generational disconnect and the controversial inclusion of one much newer rapper, Lil Baby.

The new meme posits the “GOATs of Atlanta” — i.e. the “greatest of all time” rap acts from The Big Peach — as Jeezy, Future, Rich Homie Quan, and Lil Baby. Leaving aside the fact that no rapper who debuted before 2000 appears, fans opposed Lil Baby’s inclusion, as the younger rapper has only had two studio album releases since breaking out in 2018 with Harder Than Ever. While Lil Baby has expanded his catalog with joint albums like Voice Of The Heroes with Lil Durk and Drip Harder with Gunna.

Hip-hop fans were also put off by the omission of higher-profile faces like Gucci Mane, Ludacris, Outkast, and T.I. Some fans also questioned the inclusion of Rich Homie Quan, whose contributions, while notable, were also decidedly limited thanks to Quan’s relatively short run of impactful hits.
