Hurricane Chris Recalls Pimp C Being Furious After He Was Left Off “A Bay Bay” Remix

Hurricane Chris says that Pimp C was furious after being left off of the remix to his hit song, “A Bay Bay.” He discussed the making of the track during a recent appearance on Math Hoffa’s My Expert Opinion. Chris says that everyone in the industry sent him verses in an attempt to get on the remix to the single.

“This how the remix come about,” he began. “A million people send verses in. Everybody in the game. But my relationships with Birdman, Lil Wayne, um Boosie — people that I respect on the West Coast were E40. The people I respected over here [East Coast] were Jadakiss.” “So, I had a verse from everybody. From everybody you could think of in the world. But the West Coast, I like people like the Game. So, I was only able to pick a few people,” he added. “I had Baby, The Game, E40, Jadakiss, Boosie, Angelo from my city — on the remix. But, it really was the entire industry that sent me a verse. If I were to play you all the verses right now it would be everybody in the rap game from Jamaicans to Spanish people to Pitbull to Beanie Man — for ‘A Bay Bay.’”

Then, Chris admitted that he regrets not letting Pimp C be featured on the track. “That hurt my heart. Still to this day. I regret the fact that Pimp C ain’t on ‘A Bay Bay’ bro,” he said. “And guess what? The A&R that Pimp C sent the verse to got killed. I ain’t even got the verse.”

“I heard it like two times,” he continued. “When Cam said he wasn’t rocking with it, I said ‘Cam you’re from New York. You ain’t from the south. No matter how you feel about this, Pimp C is very influential and we cannot take him off this record. Number two, he said he gone kill all ya’ll if you take him off this record.” Chris added that Pimp C pulled up on them after learning he was cut from the track. “He called me the day he found out he wasn’t on that remix and said ‘Chris where you at man? I’m outside I know where you at. Tell them n****s to come outside mane. We finna slaughter them bitch ass n****s.”

“Big L was that n***a,” Jadakiss began during the interview. “I don’t like that they gave him his flowers after he was dead. They should have gave them [his flowers] when he was here. but, I guess it was too much going on. “But, Big L was one of the first — Big L, when we were still trying to get a deal and we hadn’t met Puff yet — we were downtown on 139th getting some weed from Buzz Me In, the old spot that was there and he [Big L] was in front of the fried chicken spot,” Jadakiss explained. “SP got out and him and SP got into a battle — a furious one. We got cool with him after that — once we found out about Children of The Corn and all that. Big L was already famous. He was one of the first young dudes to make it. Once again shout out to Digging in the Crates for seeing the talent in him way back when he was a youngster.”

Jadakiss was joined by his father and his son for the episode of Drink Champs. The group discussed analog vs. digital music, controlling piracy in the digital era, owning masters, and more. Jadakiss recently announced that he’s working on two albums that he intends to release later this year. He talked about the upcoming efforts during an interview on Sway’s Universe, earlier this month. Check out his appearance on Drink Champs below.

Killer Mike Reflects On Importance Of Free Speech During FIRE Gala Speech

Killer Mike emphasized the importance of free speech during his keynote speech at the 2023 Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) Gala in New York City on Thursday. In doing so, he explained that fighting for freedom of expression is an endless fight. He also argued that freedom of speech is currently at risk in the United States.

“I need us here to know tonight that there is no grand final winning of freedom of speech,” Killer Mike told the audience. “There’s no end of the race where we all hold up trophies. It is a constant and protracted struggle to make sure the rights to become a more perfect union are always striven for.”

He continued: “If we allow ourselves to express to one another our deepest and sometimes our darkest thinkings, we will eventually hear one another. Burn off the fat of prejudice, of racial injustice, of misogyny, of phobias, and we will get to a place where we make a better, a more perfect union. Right now, in this country, your freedom of speech is at risk. The government has no right to limit your freedom of speech, your freedom of religion, your freedom to assemble.”

The speech comes as Mike prepares to release his forthcoming solo album Michael. It will be his first album as a solo artist in over a decade. In the time since his 2012 project, R.A.P. Music, he’s been focusing on his work with El-P for Run The Jewels. Pharrell’s budding music festival Something In The Water was forced to cancel its closing day moments ago. The multi-day event returned to the producer’s hometown of Virginia Beach, Virginia. However, the weather conditions over the weekend haven’t been the best. With high winds, rain storms, and even a tornado warning, organizers were forced to pull the plug on today’s (April 30) performances.

In a statement posted to the festival’s official Instagram page, they shared the news, writing, “We are disappointed to share that under the advisement of the city of Virginia Beach and the local authorities, we have to cancel day three of Something In The Water due to significant impacts to the festival site caused by severe weather, as well as the current and forecasted storms approaching and a tornado warning.”

The message continued, “We did not make this decision easily, but everyone’s safety is our top priority. We will be refunding 33% of the base price from admission passes. Refunds will be automatically processed beginning tomorrow and take approximately 14 days.”

Pharrel chimed under the post, writing, “Dearest Virginia, We are the best. These past few days have been the best. Even during this Tornado Watch and Lightning Storm right now, as I type, we are the best.”

The Tampa Police Department says officers arrived at the residence just before 9:30 AM, after receiving a call that a child had fallen into a pool. They transported Arrayah to a local hospital where they pronounced her dead. “It is not believed to be suspicious in nature at this time, but a purely accidental and tragic incident,” the Tampa PD said in a statement.

Arrayah and the rest of the Barrett family just celebrated her second birthday on April 19. The star linebacker had posted a tribute to her on Instagram writing, “Happy 2nd bday to my cutie girl. So sweet and cute. You made our family complete. I love you baby girl.” Arrayah was the youngest of four children in the family. Shaq and his wife Jordanna’s other kids are ages 11, 9, and 8.

Shaq is now entering his fifth season with the Buccaneers where he’s been named to the Pro Bowl twice. He also led the NFL with 19.5 sacks in 2019. He is coming off of a 2022 season in which he suffered a torn Achilles. Reportedly, Coi Leray And Latto’s Teams Were Involved In An Altercation At The ‘Something In The Water’ Festival

Something In The Water festival was named in honor of founder Pharrell’s coastal hometown. However, fans are wondering if it was a prophecy. Over the gloomy weekend, music’s biggest names, including Skrillex, Jazmine Sullivan, Lil Uzi Vert, and more, headed to Virginia Beach, Virginia, to bring a ray of musical sunshine. Instead, it is being reported that there was a thunderous squabble between two artists on the lineup.

Despite having quashed their shortlived feud, according to social media, Coi Leray and members from Latto’s team were reportedly involved in an altercation at the festival. In a video captured on the event’s grounds, a group of individuals is engaged in what appears to be a brawl. Although the parties’ faces have not been confirmed, and neither party has issued a statement, fans claim that it is the musicians.

On the other hand, others quickly chimed in to repost a video of Latto at a local club appearance with the caption, “Latto and Coi Leray did not fight. This was Latto performing at a club last night. Stop being delusional and believing fake rumors.”

Based on the air being cleared after Latto’s second performance at Coachella, it is hard to believe this rumor has any truth.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Ice Spice Calls “Like” Leak A “Throw Away”

Ice Spice says that her leaked song, “Like,” is just a “throw away.” The New York rapper reacted to the unofficial song on Twitter, Sunday. The leaked song comes after Ice Spice’s new record with Nicki Minaj, “Princess Diana,” outsold the entire Top 25 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
