Ice Spice Calls “Like” Leak A “Throw Away”

Ice Spice says that her leaked song, “Like,” is just a “throw away.” The New York rapper reacted to the unofficial song on Twitter, Sunday. The leaked song comes after Ice Spice’s new record with Nicki Minaj, “Princess Diana,” outsold the entire Top 25 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

“Like, why you tryna come for me?” she raps over the RIOTUSA-produced beat in the leaked track. “Like, didn’t know that you f*ck with me / I be poppin’ shit but do it humbly / Like, please, not too much on me.” Despite Ice Spice’s new tweet, fans still want an official version of the song. “ISIS GASTON I NEED THIS SONG,” one user replied to her. “PLEASE RELEASE LIKE I LITRALLY HAVE IT AS MY RINGTONE LIKE ACC.” Another wrote: “It doesn’t have to be a throw away bestie.”

As for her official songs, Billboard reports that “Princess Diana” is just the eighth song in Hot Rap Songs Chart history to reach the top while featuring at least two solo women. The other entries include “It’s a Shame,” by Monie Love featuring True Image in 1991, “4, 5, 6,” by Sole featuring JT Money & Kandi in 1999, “Hot Boyz,” by Missy Elliott featuring Nas, Eve & Q-Tip also in 1999, “Fancy,” by Iggy Azalea featuring Charli XCX in 2014, “Black Widow,” by Iggy Azalea featuring Rita Ora in 2014 as well, “WAP,” by Cardi B featuring Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, “Rumors,” by Lizzo featuring Cardi B in 2021, and finally now, “Princess Diana,” by Ice Spice & Nicki Minaj in 2023.

The success of “Princess Diana” comes after her other recent collaboration, “Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2,” with PinkPantheress reached number three on the US Billboard Hot 100. It was the highest charting position for either artist at the time. Even outside of music, Ice Spice’s career has been taking off. She recently starred in a new campaign for Kim Kardashian’s brand, SKIMS. Check out her response to “Like” below.

Nicki Minaj Likes Tweets About Signing Ice Spice

Nicki Minaj recently liked some tweets about her record label potentially signing Ice Spice, which sent fans in a frenzy. Of course, they already lit the Internet on fire after Nicki cosigned Ice on social media. Well, the real thing that set people off was Minaj following Spice back on Instagram and also taking to both IG and Twitter to praise the “Munch” hitmaker. For example, upon seeing Spice’s cover story for DAZED, she had a message for her on Twitter. “Gag. The People’s PRINCESS [crown emoji]. catch it!!!” Then, people noticed that she liked some tweets that read “ice spice getting signed to nicki’s label!”, “now when they announced that ice spice is signed to Nicki Minaj’s record label>>>>>,” among other cosigns.

Moreover, this would be a huge move for both artists. On one hand, getting such a huge cosign from the 40-year-old would be a huge moment for Spice and establish her career longevity. After all, Nicki’s been one of the most dominant artists in the game for over a decade now. On the other hand, Minaj’s newly formed record label could get a huge boost if it manages to nab one of the most buzzed-about and successful rising artists of the moment.

Is Nicki Minaj Signing Ice Spice?

Regardless, fans of both artists and beyond absolutely lost their minds online. What’s more is that their back and forth praise and interactions led many to anticipate a remix or collab of some sort on the way. Right now, it seems like a popular prediction is a remix of “Princess Diana.” Overall, fans can’t wait to see if this is just a sweet moment for the two or a legit promotional rollout for something down the line.

Still, only time will tell what these two rap titans will bring. Another important thing to consider is Minaj’s recently released material like “Red Ruby Da Sleeze.” With that in mind, a collab, remix, or some sort of team-up could come from either camp as a favor and honor to the other.
