Meek Mill Wants A Bank Loan To Start New Record Label, Cites Massive Career Earnings

Meek Mill is looking to start a new record label but is struggling to find a bank to do business with. He explained his situation and asked fans for advice in a series of posts on Twitter, earlier this week.

“What bank can I do music business with, the overhead on making music is low,” Meek asked. “Working a project can cost up to 5m for me and one hit song can make 25m like ‘going bad did’ regular hits 10m at low… we don’t get data from labels how much money each song made quarterly.” In a follow-up post, he added: “How can you actually negotiate a deal if you don’t know how much you streaming in dollars monthly … most of the times artist get confused in business and lose their creative spark.”

Meek further clarified that he’s looking into building his own record label. “I’ve been handling millions since the age of 23,” he said. “I have 10 other businesses I don’t need my money from just labels I wanna build my own … I would partner with a existing label but I still want my money from a bank or investor! Music is too easy to generate money for me!” He also went on to clarify that he and Rick Ross remain on good terms as business partners. “Don’t get it confused me and Ross handled the business and still getting money from every direction,” he wrote.

Meek Mill On Starting A Record Label

In response to the post, fans shared plenty of ideas with the Philadelphia rapper. “Focus on Value, Not Exact Numbers,” one user replied. “Shift the conversation: Instead of dwelling on specific dollar amounts, emphasize what you bring to the table. Discuss: Audience size and demographics: What kind of viewers do you attract (age, interests, location) Engagement levels, etc.” Another wrote: “Navigating a deal without full insight into your streaming revenue can be challenging. To tackle this, artists often work with a team that includes a music business lawyer, a manager, and possibly a financial advisor.” Be on the lookout for further updates on Meek Mill on HotNewHipHop.

Blueface Lists Off The Signees On His MILF Music Label

From rapper to label head? “Yeah aight.” That is the career path that Blueface is seemingly taking right now after a recent tweet saying that he was going to retire. “I don’t rap I retired I’m the label now.” It comes as a surprise considering the fact that he has been putting out some material and guest verses as of late. However, if this is the case, there might be a path to success for him. While he might not have any top-flight lyricists, he certainly has some interesting characters on his roster.

According to XXL, Blueface’s record label, MILF Music, became official back during the middle of summer this year. The first artist to come on board with him is his now fiancée, Jaidyn Alexis. He confirmed this in a reply to someone who asked why she was first on the list. “She the First Lady duhh.” The original criteria to be a part of this entertainment group was to be a woman with kids.

Blueface Has Five Artists On MILF Music

“Milf Music is officially the label. I’m only signing women with children. Your BD [baby daddy] is your only reference that I can use. If he don’t vouch for you, I ain’t f***ing with you. You don’t have to be a rapper. I just need to see star quality in you.” However, after his recent calling out of Lil Mabu, it seems that he has gone against his own requirements. On top of that, Chrisean Rock is also on the roster, including another Cali native, Jay Cinco, as well as X.o Rico.

What are your initial thoughts on Blueface showing off the roster for his MILF Music label? Do you think this will become one of the biggest recording names in the industry? Will he be able to sign more names, or will some bigger fish join him? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that on mind, be sure to leave all of your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below. Blueface Is Supposedly Done Making Music: “I Retired I’m The Label Now”

Just last night (October 30) we reported that Blueface wants to add Lil Mabu’s career to his resume. This is because of a recent tweet that calls out the New York rapper’s relationship issues with Chrisean Rock. It seems the new couple is having some problems behind the scenes. Because of this, the “Thotiana” hitmaker had a question for him. “Make sure y’all add lil mabu career to my resume. [Wh]y is your girl texting me every day bro…what she waiting on? …shambles.” As a result of all of this attention Mabu is getting from being with Chrisean, Blueface thinks that he needs to add his career to his resume.

The Los Angeles rapper’s tweets went beyond that and one of them caught some people’s attention. If you take a look below, Blueface says that he is done rapping. In fact, it seems like he is suggesting he has been done for a minute now. “I don’t rap I retired I’m the label now.” Even though he has done some recent features and put out some singles last month, it appears he is hanging it up.

Blueface Is Done Making Music

In terms of the label part of the tweet, Blueface is referring to his MILF Music label he began back in June of this year. According to XXL, he is only signing women that have kids. “I’m only signing women with children. Your BD [baby daddy] is your only reference that I can use. If he don’t vouch for you, I ain’t f***ing with you. You don’t have to be a rapper. I just need to see star quality in you.” According to Blueface, the rappers on the label include Chrisean, his fiancée, Jaidyn Alexis, Jay Cinco, X.o Rico, and Lil Mabu.

What are your initial thoughts on Blueface saying he is retiring from rap? Do you actually believe him or do you think this is a front? Birdman Claims Drake Signed Bad Bunny To OVO Since “Day One”

Drake continues to be the talk of the town after his latest album For All The Dogs. The record has been hotly debated by listeners and other celebrities in social media circles. One of those is Joe Budden and that is a whole other subplot around the LP’s release. Now, we have another one surrounding Drake. However, this one includes Bad Bunny and Birdman. How did this all happen? Well, let us run down the details and background for you. As for some basic information, Bad Bunny made an appearance on For All The Dogs, teaming up with Drizzy for “Gently.”

On top of that collaboration, they also brought the Latin summer vibes to “MIA,” which came out back in 2018. That song and this latest one are a combination of Drake’s label OVO, and Bunny’s, Rimas Entertainment. However, Birdman firmly believes that Bunny has been with The Boy since the beginning. The Cash Money label leader chopped it up with Wack 100 about all sorts of things, one of which being Bunny and Drake’s relationship.

Throughout the clip provided by No Jumper, Birdman continues to claim that the Latin rapper and singer signed with OVO at the start of his career. “Bad Bunny already signed to Drake,” he says. “Y’all just don’t know it.” This would be a true shock if this rings true. But, as of now, he is official with Rimas, separate from Drake, and neither has came out publicly to confirm Birdman’s statement.

What are your initial thoughts on Birdman saying Bad Bunny has been signed under Drake’s OVO label since his career began? Why do you believe he is saying this? Jadakiss Is Star-Struck By His New Chain Honoring The LOX’s D-Block Label

Through their record label, D-Block, and many other avenues, The LOX established themselves as a premier New York hip-hop group. Moreover, their legacy and impact continues to thrive and be celebrated to this day, whether physically, culturally, or emotionally. For example, Jadakiss now has a big, shiny, and luxurious new chain to commemorate D-Bloc, courtesy of celebrity jeweler Paul Mazza. It’s a pricey and extravagant piece, but one that Mazza clearly feels particularly proud of given its meaning within rap. Furthermore, on Thursday (September 28), he took to Instagram to share the chain, and the Yonkers MC reacted quite excitedly to it.

“I greatly appreciate @jadakiss giving me the opportunity to make such an iconic symbol of unity that has shaped the game of hip-hop,” Paul Mazza captioned the post. “The pendant is dripping with over 60tcw [total carat weight] in pure Mazza.” Meanwhile, Jadakiss couldn’t help but express his shock and awe at the piece. “That’s *nsane, man, that’s *nsane,” he remarked in the background of a clip of the chain. “This s**t doin’ the macarena!” Overall, it’s a fittingly eye-catching set of jewelry for the 48-year-old, who’s made rap fans turn heads for years now.

Jadakiss Couldn’t Be Happier With His D-Block Chain

What’s more is that this wasn’t all that blew Jada’s mind online recently. Given that he came out as a special guest for 50 Cent’s The Final Lap tour several times, it’s no surprise that he would have some great things to say about it. “For the music that we do, to see n***as up in that kind of caliber, from our cloth of music to have that kind of production and see my n***as up there, that s**t is incredible,” Jadakiss recently remarked in a clip that emerged on social media. “I encourage n***as to see this.

Beyonce, you better catch that Final Lap Tour,” he concluded. “Drake and 21, the Final Lap. Beyonce, Taylor Swift, catch it. Who else I say? For hardcore hip-hop lovers and you could only cop one [ticket]?” For more news and the latest updates on Jadakiss and The LOX, check back in with HNHH.

Murphy Lee Says St. Lunatics Were “Threatened” Into Signing To Universal

In a recent interview with VladTV, Murphy Lee opened up about his group St. Lunatics signing to Universal. He explained that the group was advised to sign with them because was the same label the group’s frontman, Nelly, was signed to at the time. He revealed that “threats” surrounding the use of Nelly’s vocals was a major influence in the group’s decision-making process. “That was a major lil moment for us,” he explained, “Probably should’ve held out for a second and shopped it.”

Murphy Lee continued, “We wasn’t tied into that. I think we got threatened with, ‘You might not be able to get Nelly cleared if y’all go somewhere else’ type of thing.” The artist went on to say, “I don’t think they thugged us out. I think it was a natural thing. It was more so with lawyers. I think they was thinking like that. Because the lawyers represented us and Nelly and it was more so like when he was shopping the deal.” According to Murphy Lee, the group was allegedly told that they may have clearance issues with Nelly’s contributions if they went with another label.

Murphy Lee Says They “Probably Should’ve Held Out”

“It was like a suggestion, like, ‘Yeah, we can go somewhere else, like at the same time, y’all might not be able to clear it because he’s so big,’” Lee continued. “We probably should’ve made more a demand for two seconds we went right into it we were so happy.” Back in 2021, another former member of St. Lunatics, Ali, accused Nelly of abandoning the group. He took to social media to claim that he fought for Nelly’s verse on “Gimme What Ya Got,” despite the label wanting it removed. He also went on to claim that he turned down a solo record deal in favor of sticking with St. Lunatics. “Some kind of way I ended up going …I ended up helping him write … but got no credit!! Wow !! I got hustled !!” the artist said.

Nelly later responded to the claims, writing, “There’s three people in this group that’s been a lunatic since day one: Nelly, Kyjuan, and City [Spud].” He explained, “We all went to school together. Alright? Cool. When we first started the Lunatics, Ali was not in this group. Stop me when I’m lying.” Nelly added, “When we was going around town making a name for ourselves, doing the car wash, performing at the talent shows at [colleges], that was us, that wasn’t Ali. Ali did not perform with us. Either he thought he was too good or he didn’t perform with us. Either way, he did not perform with us. Just factuals. Actual factuals.

Logic Signs His Father To Bobby Boy Records

During a recent stop on his College Park tour, Logic shared a sweet moment with his dad onstage. He vowed to protect the 69-year-old by signing him to his label, Bobby Boy Records. Logic has been open about his relationship with his father, which has been problematic in the past. It seems as though now, the rapper is really committing to changing it for the better.

Onstage, Logic reflects on asking his dad “Why do you always ask me for money?” The rapper shares that his father’s response was “I don’t know.” He recalls his father saying, “I think it’s just the fact that I’m financially insecure because I want to leave a legacy for your little brother.” Logic says he told the 69-year-old “You know what dad, I’m gonna do an album with you. I’m going to teach you about Black ownership and what it means to run a business.”

Last month, Logic reflected on his dad asking him for $1 million during his appearance on the Whiskey Ginger with Andrew Santino podcast. The rapper recalls his father telling him, “I want a million dollars for my band so we can buy a house and make music in it.” He claims to have turned down his dad’s request, telling him, “Please don’t ask me for money– can we just like throw Fu***ing catch or some Sh*t?”

Robin Thicke Speaks On His Connection To Hip-Hop On Drink Champs

Drink Champs usually makes headlines for their hip-hop conversations, but the program’s most recent guest is one of the biggest blue-eyed soul stars of the last 20 years. Moreover, Robin Thicke recently graced the Drink Champs studio, speaking on his many industry connections, wild stories, and long-lasting career. While many might know him best nowadays for “Blurred Lines,” his laundry list of experience is much more extensive than that hit might suggest. In fact, during his conversation with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN, he recalled signing to one of his collaborators on the track, Pharrell. However, one of his more illuminating comments came when discussing his many Lil Wayne collabs, where he spoke on his relationship to hip-hop.

Well, that was more based off of association, as we saw the “Masked Singer” judge talk about that experience through the lens of his Weezy collabs. Specifically, N.O.R.E. asked him how his hip-hop link-ups always felt natural, and how they even came about. “We were genuine fans of each other before we blew,” Robin Thicke recalled. “Like, when I heard ‘Go DJ’- I mean, you know, he was already blowing up. But when I heard ‘Go DJ,’ I was like, ‘This is the next biggest artist, period.

Robin Thicke On Drink Champs

“I told Andre Harrell, and he was like, ‘You think so?’” he continued. “I was like, ‘Trust me, Dre, this is the one.’ So, coincidentally, he just reached out to me. The first song on my debut album A Beautiful World– which it’s the 20th anniversary of- he heard this song called ‘Oh Shooter’ on my debut album. He just hit me up out of nowhere and was like ‘Yo, I love this record. Can you send me the tracks? Do you mind if I do something with it?’” That Tunechi remix landed on Tha Carter II.

“The first time that Lil Wayne ever did The Tonight Show– and the first time I ever did The Tonight Show– we did it together,” he added. “The first time either one of us performed at the Grammys, we performed together. So him and I have a real history together.” Despite his controversies, it’s clear that the appreciation for hip-hop goes both ways. Elsewhere in the interview, he talks about signing with Pharrell, his family’s industry experience, and much more. Check out the full Drink Champs episode above and return to HNHH for the latest on Robin Thicke.
