Eminem Will Have A Role In Adam Sandler’s Sequel For “Happy Gilmore 2”

Guess who’s back? Back [on the big screen] again? It’s Eminem, and he’s coming to a major project that’s coming out sometime next year. According to XXL, comedian extraordinaire Adam Sandler made an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show to discuss Happy Gilmore 2. Yes, after nearly 30 years since the original classic, a sequel is currently in the works. In fact, when the interview between Patrick and Sandler was posted online, they were wrapping up filming. Netlfix announced in May of this year they were picking up the project, so it looks like it won’t have a theatrical release. Still, given how many fans adore the inaugural film, it should get a lot of streams.

Speaking about its premiere, that remains to be seen. Sandler was not able to give a clear-cut answer to Patrick when asked. “I don’t know 100%, but I think around July. Not July 4, but we’re trying to get it done in time for July. (But) you never know what’s going to happen. We’re just finishing today.” That was the theme for most of their chat, as Sandler was not able to share a lot of information regarding its plot or characters.

Adam Sandler On Eminem’s Acting Chops

However, he did manage to share some anyway, especially in the cameo department. As we hinted at the beginning, Eminem was going to be involved one way or another. From the sounds of it, he won’t have a major role. But Sandler was very impressed with his work on set. “Eminem was cool. He came by and he was great,” he began.

“He came and was funny as hell. I think we just hung out a day with Eminem. He just shot and shot and it was insane. [He] said a million things that we can use and a million things that we’re glad we have them on tape.” Funny enough, this isn’t the first time that these two have been in a film together. Back in 2009, Slim Shady, Sandler, Leslie Mann, Seth Rogan, and Jonah Hill were in a project called Funny People. Other notable cameos in Happy Gilmore 2 will include Bad Bunny, Travis Kelce, among others.

50 Cent And Eminem Reunite On ‘Gunz N Smoke’ From Snoop Dogg And Dr. Dre’s New Album, ‘Missionary’

20 years ago, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, and Eminem were running hip-hop, and all four of them are still getting after it today. In fact, they all just teamed up on “Gunz N Smoke,” a new one from Snoop and Dre’s just-released album, Missionary.

50 spoke about his admiration for Snoop in a recent interview with Big Boy, saying, “I’m a fan, I’m that first. This is why you seen him on ‘P.I.M.P.’ immediately. I’m listening to him and Dre before I could attract from him, you know what I’m saying? It’s an honor to work with him.”

He also recently discussed why he doesn’t make as much new music these days, saying, “A lot of the music, if you listen to the music that’s out right now, I have to tap into my stupid. I have to tap into the stupid side of me to write the right thing when it comes time to write the music. This is why I haven’t created as much content as I was creating in the past, and I started going toward the film production and development of these projects. Because I think I can impact things in a bigger way through that.”

Snoop Dogg And Dr. Dre Deliver The Goods With New Album “Missionary”

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre are the most iconic duo in hip hop history. They broke the mold with “Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang” in 1992 and they haven’t looked back. They’ve also managed to keep the bar for their collaborations astoundingly high. 2001 and Compton were musical triumphs. And now we have the long anticipated Missionary, the sequel to Snoop Dogg’s debut, Doggystyle. Making a sequel to a classic is a daunting task, but Snoop and Dre manage to deliver the goods. Is it as good as their best material? Not really, but it’s still excellent.

The album opener, “Fore Play,” is a soulful and lush banger featuring BJ the Chicago Kid. It sets the table by establishing a laid back and G-Funk anchored sound. It works perfectly. The singles have been hit or miss, especially the Sting collaboration “Another Part of Me.” Fortunately, the gimmickry is at a minimum throughout the album. Missionary plays it straight, while allowing Snoop Dogg to flex his chemistry with a ton of superstar guests. 50 Cent and Eminem shine on the posse cut “Gunz N Smoke,” and Dr. Dre does his thing on his trio of guest verses. “Outta da Blue” is probably the standout cut in terms of Dre rhymes. Unlikely features also deliver, whether it be Jelly Roll or the late, great Tom Petty. Missionary can feel a bit like a kitchen sink album, sometimes, but the final product is a lot of fun.

Eminem Pays Tribute To His Late Mother In Low-Key Fashion At His Recent Concert

Eminem’s relationship with his mother, Debbie Nelson, was certainly not the easiest a son could ask for. When one of your own, especially your caretaker, sues you for alleged defamation, it certainly hits a little harder. That was just one rough patch that these two went through, but time managed to take away some of the disdain for the Detroit MC. In the mid-2010s, Slim Shady did show some signs of remorse for the harsh words and actions he directed toward her. His 2013 song “Headlights” featuring Nate Ruess was a sign of him trying to turn things around.

Mrs. Nelson also began to show more love than hateful energy by congratulating her superstar son for his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction two years ago. “Marshall, I want to say, I could not let this day go by without congratulating you on your induction into the Hall of Fame. I love you very much. I knew you’d get there. It’s been a long ride. I’m very, very proud of you.”

Eminem Couldn’t Bring Himself To Perform “Without Me” In Full

It’s very unfortunate that it’s unsure where their relationship was standing prior to Debbie’s death last week. But based on those previous examples and this most recent one, it seems that they were in maybe the best place they had been for quite some time. According to Uproxx, Em had a big concert in Abu Dhabi at their F1 Grand Prix raceway just a few days after she tragically lost her battle to advanced lung cancer.

During the performance, he made sure to pay some sort of tribute to her, doing so during “Without Me.” Most remember the controversial lyric, “F*** you Debbie!” However, Eminem decided to skip that and let the crowd shout it out instead. It might not be the perfect way to go about it, but him making the subtle change is definitely better. He has yet to publicly comment on Debbie’s passing. During this time, we are continuing to wish the best for him and his loved ones.

Eminem‘s mother, Debbie Nelson, died last week after being diagnosed with lung cancer. She was 69 years old. The rapper, who had a tumultuous relationship with his mom, paid subtle homage to her death during a recent concert at the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix. While performing The Eminem Show single “Without Me,” Eminem left out the lyric, “F*ck you, Debbie.” Instead, he “let his fans yell it for him instead,” according to Newsweek.

Back in 2022, Nelson recorded a video message for her son when he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. “Marshall, I want to say, I could not let this day go by without congratulating you on your induction into the Hall of Fame,” she said. “I love you very much. I knew you’d get there. It’s been a long ride. I’m very, very proud of you. And also I’m very proud of [granddaughter] Hailie Jade, my big girl. I want to tell you Hailie, great job on your podcast and God bless you guys. I love you very much.”

Nelson was also the culinary inspiration behind Mom’s Spaghetti, which started as a lyric from the Oscar-winning song “Lose Yourself” before turning into a pop-up restaurant and pasta sauce brand.

Eminem’s Mother Debbie Nelson Has Died Of Lung Cancer At Age 69

Debbie Nelson, the mother of Eminem and the muse of some of his most fiery and controversial hits, has reportedly died at 69. According to TMZ, she had been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer in September.

Almost since its inception, rap artists have used their moms as muses for some of their most impactful music. “Dear Mama,” “Hey Mama,” “Smile,” and more have found rappers like Tupac, Kanye West, and Jay-Z channeling their complex emotions into songs dedicated to their matriarchs.

Then, there’s Eminem, whose feelings about his mother Debbie Nelson fueled spiteful ruminations like “Cleanin’ Out My Closet,” “My Mom,” and “Headlights.” The latter song was more apologetic, and was the first sign that they might have repaired their relationship before her death.

Before that, though, she sued Eminem for defamation after his debut in 1999 due to his accusing her in interviews of abuse and neglect. In 2007, Nelson’s memoir, My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem attempted to “set the record” straight on their relationship.

But perhaps the longest lasting legacy of Em’s strained relationship with his mom was the institution of “Mom’s Spaghetti,” the pop-up restaurant and pasta sauce brand inspired by Eminem’s line referencing his mother’s culinary skills from 8 Mile theme song, “Lose Yourself.”

Eminem And JID’s 16-Bit ‘Fuel’ Lyrics Video Pays Homage To Old-School Arcades And Comic Books

The rise of lyrics videos has been fascinating to watch, as they give music fans an intermediary between a single’s release and its eventual music video, allowing artists and their labels to stretch the lifespans of their songs further than they ever could before. The format’s also been a godsend for fans of wordy rap artists who use it to promote their new singles.

A perfect example: Eminem and JID‘s “Fuel” lyrics video, which helps fans parse the two tongue twisting MCs’ bars while delighting with imagery borrowed from old-school arcade games and comic books. With the lyrics appearing on-screen as comic-style exposition boxes and sound effects blasts (think the 1966 Batman TV series with Adam West) as the rappers’ 16-bit avatars navigate a gritty urban landscape straight out of a 1980s beat-’em-up. The video even gets a little meta, with JID visiting an arcade to play a game within a game — which is another convention of video games, if you think about it.

The video arrives four months after the release of Eminem’s new album, Death Of Slim Shady, which was recently nominated for a Best Rap Album Grammy as the latest in a recent run of rap concept albums that highlighted the possibilities of the genre. Meanwhile, JID has been teasing a pair of new albums, including one with producer Metro Boomin.

You can watch the lyrics video for Eminem’s “Fuel” featuring JID above.
