Not Even Martin Scorsese Could Get Action Bronson To Shave His Beard Off

Some of the world’s biggest artists have become popular for at least one signature fashion trend, aesthetic, or item. Questlove’s ever-so-meticulously placed pick within his full afro is his classic look. Drake has a few rotating hairstyles, but his buzzed heart-shaped part is the most notable. But for “Subzero” rapper Action Bronson, for a long time, it was his rugged beard.

On November 10, during an appearance on the Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast, Bronson revealed that at one point, not even critically acclaimed director Martin Scorsese could get him to shave it off. Bronson had the opportunity to work alongside Scorsese for the 2019 Netflix film The Irishman. While working on set, the award-winning cinematographer asked the unthinkable of Bronson.

When the asked joked about hallucinating Bronson into the scene, the topic of his intense facial hair came up. “He asked me to take the beard off, but at that point, I was like, ‘Man, I have like six chins under here. So probably not,’” confessed Bronson.

Ultimately, he did not have to make the sacrifice. However, if it did come down to it, let’s just say most fans believe he would’ve been ok walking away from the project. In the past, he’s turned parts in shows such as Euphoria. But then again, it is Martin Scorsese; the sacrifice could have been worth the payout.

The Alchemist And Action Bronson Are A Fun Pair On “Vertigo” From “Flying High 2”

The Alchemist is one of the busiest producers of 2023. In fact, he may just be the most active one this year. It all began in the middle of February with a single featuring Larry June, “60 Days.” That turned out to be the lead track off of their collaborative record, The Great Escape. From that point on, there was no slowing down for Uncle Al. A couple of months later, he and Domo Genesis got together for No Idols. Additionally, others like Roc Marciano, MIKE and Wiki, as well as Earl Sweatshirt all got to work on their respective efforts with him too.

But, before those tapes, he put out a solo EP, Flying High at the end of June. The Alchemist grabbed Earl for that as well, including billy woods, Boldy James, and more for the four tracks to go along with instrumental versions. Now, he is getting ready for his seventh project. It will be the sequel to Flying High. Supposedly dropping at midnight tonight, November 3, the format will remain the same. However, this time there will be five songs and their accompanying instrumentals.

Action Bronson Gets A Little High During “Tiny Desk” Performance

Action Bronson’s love of weed is no secret. He has spoken at length about it on many occasions. For example, he spoke with Variety a few years ago about the inspiration behind his New York Times best-selling book “Stoned Beyond Belief.” “I love overstimulation,” the Queens, New York rapper says. “This book is exactly what I wanted to project, how I feel every moment in my life.”

The laid-back star also believes that the psychoactive drug should be legalized for the masses. “I think it should be readily available for everybody. But the main goal is that it’s medicine and it’s there for one and all to enjoy and love, to be treated properly.” Most states are pushing to legalize weed, so his dream might come to fruition in the near future. In addition, he is similar to the greats like Notorious B.I.G., in that their creativity runs wild when on the herb.

Action “Stoned” Bronson: Video

“It grounds me,” he laughs. “I’m hyperactive and have all kinds of mental situations, and I feel like weed, this beautiful plant, broadens my outlook. Smoking hash all day broadens my outlook, it chills me out, it allows me to not get overanxious and to think faster.” Bronson proved his point by putting on a great Tiny Desk performance. Along with his band, Human Growth Hormone, he was able to keep his cool and rock the stage for a five-song half-hour show.

In true Bronson fashion, he admits, “I also want to let you know the edibles just hit and I’ve been pretty good so far. Valee, Harry Fraud & Action Bronson Have “Vibrant” Chemistry On New Single

Valee, Harry Fraud, and Action Bronson just showed off some great chemistry on their new single, aptly titled “Vibrant.” Not only do the beat and bars give off that vibe, but it also continues a bit of a prolific streak for Fraud in particular these past few weeks. Just last Friday, he teamed up with Curren$y for the full-length project VICES, which made for a versatile and compelling team-up. Hopefully this new collaboration isn’t the last that features these players together, as Valee and Bronson do a great job of fitting the instrumental in their own unique ways. In addition, it’s a fitting track for the summer months, with its crisp sample and laidback flows and bars.

Moreover, the beat here is based on an enveloping and soulful pitched-up sample with ear-grabbing vocal chops and soaring singing. The light guitar strums are what give “Vibrant” its most potent vibrance, giving it a sun-soaked feeling. Also, the bright keys that flutter in the background and the crisp and steady drum pattern complete the song’s summery vibes. On that bed of sounds, Valee and Action Bronson both give their own unique takes as far as delivery and flow. Whereas the Chicago native chose a more unorthodox flow and deflated delivery, the New York MC sounds more animated and floats with a classic East Coast rhyme pattern.

“The Great Escape” Is A Perfect Union Of Larry June & The Alchemist

In the past few weeks, Larry June and The Alchemist shared a promising series of singles to lead the campaign for The Great Escape. First, they unveiled “60 Days,” and then, “Porsches In Spanish.” However, the release of “Palisades, CA” ft. Big Sean left fans thrilled for what’s to come on their joint project. The record marked Big Sean’s first time rhyming over The Alchemist’s production but the Detroit rapper and June’s similar focus on health and wellness turned the record into an immediate highlight that fans hope will lead to further collaborations in the future.

The new project extends The Alchemist’s impressive run over the past few years that includes Alfredo with Freddie Gibbs, The Elephant Man’s Bones with Roc Marciano, and several projects alongside Boldy James. However, in an interview with Billboard, he explained that he hopes Great Escape with Larry June is discussed in the same regard. “I don’t want this to be like a slept-on record, or it gets just credibility — we need to push this s–t on,” says Alchemist. “Put it up next to all the other s–t that’s out there on the high level and let it compete.”

Action Bronson quite literally can do it all. The New York Rapper made his professional debut this past weekend, throwing around members of the All Elite Wrestling roster at their All Out PPV.

Bronson was a part of AEW’s FTW championship match between Hook and Angelo Parker. Hook was getting jumped on by Parker, and another wrestler and Bronson hopped in, helping Hook to a victory.

“I’VE SEEN ENOUGH,” Bronson wrote on Instagram. “COWARDLY ATTACKS AGAINST MY BROTHER @730hook WILL NEVER GO DOWN ON MY WATCH. IM OUT FOR BLOOD. @officialtaz13 @aew.”

Earlier this year, Action Bronson released a new album, Cocodrillo Turbo, as well as an eleven-minute short film, Spirit Crocodile, through Loma Vista Recordings. The short film, directed by Jason Goldwatch, delves into the essence of the Cocodrillo Turbo and why the reptile is crucial to Bronsolino’s technique. As music from the album serves as a soundtrack, the images and film are viewed through the prism of psychedelia.
