Rod Wave Updates An Older Track With “Numb”

Rod Wave has gone through a little bit of a rough patch in his life. Earlier this month, the Florida rapper and singer was arrested after weapons and/or ammo were found on his person. This arrest was escalated based on the fact that the multi-hyphenate was previously charged with felony battery charges, even though they were dropped. As a felon, you are not allowed to carry weapons. However, Rod was back in the clear after police did some extra digging. It turned out that it was “not accurate,” so he was released from his jail cell shortly after being put in handcuffs.

With that messy situation behind him, Rod Wave has been comfortable enough to get back into the recording booth. Case and point, this new single from him called “Numb.” This is Rod’s first piece of music since his acclaimed 2023 record Nostalgia. However, you are not going to find the song on streaming, as it is only on YouTube as of now.

He also wrestles with his drug addiction because of it and you can tell Rod feels damaged from it based on his cadence.

Rod Wave Arrested: What We Know

Rod Wave is a 25-year-old rapper from St. Petersburg, Florida. He is best known for his work on tracks such as “Checkmate,” “Heart On Ice,” and “Rags2Riches.” Last week, the soul-trap pioneer became embroiled in a shooting scandal, leaving him briefly incarcerated. Luckily, Rod Wave is already home following his April 3 arrest. Still, the rapper remains under investigation for several items that may, in fact, link him to the crime. Details are still murky as investigators dig deeper into the shooting. Regardless, here’s everything we know about Rod Wave’s arrest at this time.

The Shooting Occurred In A St. Petersburg Bar

According to authorities, the incident happened on the evening of Easter Sunday at Sonic Sports Bar and Lounge. The location was hosting an event which drew a large crowd. This means the shooting could’ve been a random act of violence or a targeted assault on one or more patrons. By all accounts, Rod Wave was not present at the scene during the time that the shooting took place. However, the multiple gunmen are said to have sped off in a vehicle registered to the Florida rapper.

Once authorities traced the vehicle, they discovered it parked at a residence that Rod Wave was renting and subsequently searched the property. The search resulted in multiple assault rifles being recovered, as well as two pounds of marijuana and several other items that have been tagged as additional evidence. Shortly after that, Rod Wave was arrested by authorities under the charge of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.

Rod Wave Was Freed The Same Day He Was Arrested

Rod Wave was let go for several reasons. Notably, the rapper was incorrectly charged and listed as a convicted felon despite having never been convicted of a crime. Wave’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, elucidated on these erroneous charges in a statement to the press. The lawyer stated, “Rod was arrested and detained with absolutely no evidence of wrongdoing. The police claimed he was a felon in possession of ammunition. Not only was he not in possession of ammunition, a basic check of public records would have easily demonstrated to the police that he was not a convicted felon. The prosecutor and the judge immediately agreed that the evidence did not support the charge and set him free the same day.”

In the aftermath of Rod Wave’s arrest, authorities identified several suspects, including 20-year-old Kevontre Wesby, 21-year-old Keith Wesby, and 24-year-old Christopher Atkins. These young men are allegedly involved with a local gang and are currently considered primary suspects in the ongoing investigation. Their affiliation with Rod Wave is unknown.

Luckily, Nobody Was Killed

The incident, luckily, hasn’t resulted in any deaths, as reports indicate none of the victims were treated for life-threatening injuries. Several individuals between the ages of 17 and 29 sustained minor injuries, and six motor vehicles were pierced with gunfire during the March 29 shootout. For now, Rod Wave is a free man. However, authorities still have questions regarding his affiliation with the suspects, including the use of his vehicle as a getaway ride and the guns and drugs found in his rented residence.

Rod Wave Arrested For Possession Of Ammunition By A Convicted Felon

Rod Wave and Lil Durk Connect for "Already Won" Video

Several reports have confirmed that Florida rapper Rod Wave was arrested today(April 3) for possession of ammunition(bullets) by a convicted felon.

Wave, whose real name is Rodarius Green, was taken into police custody in Manatee County, which is in St. Petersburg, FL .His arrest was a part of an ongoing investigation, according to police. Green was charged with two counts of illegally possessing a firearm or ammunition as a convicted felon. Records show Green was still in custody Wednesday afternoon.

A subsequent news release announcing the news conference said St. Petersburg police Chief Anthony Holloway would “announce several major arrests in an on-going investigation.” The release said the department would not release details before the news conference.

TMZ reported Wednesday that Green’s attorneys disputed that he is a convicted felon.

Wave had previous legal woes, being arrested in Pinellas County in 2022 on a domestic battery charge out of Osceola County that was later dropped. That same year, he made headlines for giving away $25,000 worth of free gas in St. Petersburg.

Rod Wave Arrest: 25-Year-Old Reportedly In Florida Police Custody

Rod Wave is a talented artist, but unfortunately, the “Street Runner” artist’s legal troubles are holding him back from reaching his maximum potential. In May of 2022 he managed to have felony battery charges dropped after reports claimed he choked his then-girlfriend with children in the house. Since then, Wave has mostly been out of trouble, though blogs report that he was taken into police custody today (April 3) after weapons and/or ammo were found on his person. Due to his status as a felon, the performer can’t have guns in his possession, though it’s unclear what punishment he’s facing for his alleged crimes.

In a mugshot that’s making rounds, Wave looks solemn. Online, fans have endless questions about what this situation means for their favourite singer. “What’s the point of bodyGUARDS if you gon’ CARRY? SMH,” one user wrote beneath @theneighborhoodtalk’s post. “He gon be crying for an entire album bout this s**t,” another person speculated, hoping we’ll at least get new music out of the 25-year-old’s misfortune.

The last time Wave came through with a full-length LP was in September 2023, winding back the clock on Nostalgia. The 18-track effort mostly finds the Southern artist working on his own, though he did connect with Wet for the title track, 21 Savage on “Turks & Caicos,” and Sadie Jean on the final song, “2018.” In the past Wave has hinted at no longer making sad music, but now that his life has quickly turned upside down, we’re curious to see if he’ll be sticking to his promise.

As more information on Rod Wave’s reported arrest becomes available, we’ll be sure to share it with you. In the meantime, revisit our report on how the Florida native amassed his growing net worth at the link below. For more hip-hop/pop culture news, make sure to check back in with us later.

Ari Lennox Threatens Joe Budden With Lawsuit In Explosive New Rant

Ari Lennox has had an eventful past few weeks. It all started right at the end of November when she was performing as the opening act for Rod Wave on his Nostalgia Tour. The performance seems to be going well enough until one of the fans in attendance throws something, later revealed to be a bottle, at Ari on stage. She claps back hard calling out the person who threw it and even threatening to fight them. The viral moment ended when her microphone was cut off and her performance ended early.

Fans responded to the post largely in support of Ari. Across 2023 there was a strange trend of fans throwing objects on stage at artists. While it was occasionally light-hearted, like when Drake had dozens of bras thrown at him on stage during his tour. But at other points, it was much more hostile even resulting in some injuries to performers. Ari took the situation in stride, hilarious donning a helmet during her next performance in reference to the incident. Then earlier this month, she reflected on her time touring with Rod Wave, which didn’t sit right with everyone.

Ari Lennox vs. Joe Budden

When Ari opened up on her time on tour she was pretty critical. She claimed that she never felt comfortable and raced through her sets because whenever she tried to affirm the crowd they would just get angry at her. But despite her vulnerable reflection on the tour, some still tried to critique her. Joe Budden in particular used his podcast as a vessel to claim that she should have just been happy to be included on such a big tour.

In a new video responding to his comments, Ari didn’t hold anything back. She not only claims that he has a $20k lawsuit headed his way but also claims that he’s obsessed with her and even joked that he “touches dogs.” What do you think of Ari Lennox’s response to Joe Budden’s critiques of her comments about touring with Rod Wave? Do you think she should follow through with suing him? Let us know in the comment section below.

Ari Lennox Was ‘Never Comfortable’ While Opening On Rod Wave’s ‘Nostalgia Tour,’ As She Explained

On November 29, Rod Wave’s Nostalgia Tour hit Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California, and Ari Lennox performed her opening set. Everything was fine and good until someone in the audience chucked a water bottle at Lennox and hit her arm.

Video of the incident went viral, mainly because Lennox let the person have it, saying, in part, “Who the f*ck did it? I’ll f*ck your ass up. ‘Cause I don’t play that. I’m a real-ass b*tch, and I will f*ck your sh*t all the way the f*ck up. Don’t you ever disrespect a beautiful Black woman on the f*cking stage like that.”

On Sunday, January 7, Lennox went on Instagram Live and explained that her Nostalgia Tour frustrations extended far beyond that moment.

“I was never comfortable,” Lennox said, as captured by Complex. “I just remember, every show, just racing to get off stage — racing to get through my set. And then, I found the spot where I was comfortable, and I started trying to communicate with the audience, and then, when I realized they were getting angry at me affirming them? I was like, OK, this is — you’re getting angry that I’m affirming you? This is not my crowd, and it’ll never be. And that’s alright. That’s alright, you know what I mean?”

Lennox continued, “It was tough. Like, it was tough. And it was heavy on my soul — feeling that energy — especially the day when the bottle happened because that side of the stage? Like, I felt the energy. I wasn’t surprised that it happened. I felt it. First of all, it was just all darkness. That’s literally the energy that was coming from the left side.”

A Helmet-Wearing Ari Lennox Is Prepared For Any And All Objects Concertgoers Attempt To Throw Onstage

Entertainers have a simple holiday wish, stop throwing sh*t onstage during performances. Just when you thought the gross trend had died off, news of its resurgence flooded social media.

While in Los Angeles for Rod Wave’s Nostalgia Tour stop on November 29, “Waste My Time” singer Ari Lennox fell victim to an attendee’s desperate and unacceptable cry for attention. Lennox was nearly hit with what appeared to be a water bottle hurled by a concertgoer. Lennox verbally ripped the fan a new one as the crowd cheered her on. Yesterday (November 30), for the tour’s next stop in Oakland, Lennox sported a helmet just in case someone tried the stunt again.

In a video shared by a fan, Lennox fiercely swayed onstage to her song “Shea Butter,” she temporarily rethought things. “Hey, Oakland. My name is Ari Lennox… I don’t know should I keep this thing on or what,” Lennox asked the crowd.

Lennox is known for her sharp sense of humor, but given the injuries sustained by Bebe Rexha in June, when she was hit in the eye with a phone, musicians aren’t willing to take any chances. Latto was nearly willing to grapple with one fan at Rolling Loud Germany who threw something at her. Hell, Cardi B took it a step further by throwing her microphone at a concertgoer who splashed her with water.

Fortunately for Lennox, the show went off without any new incidents.

Boosie Badazz Opens Up On Two Recent Lawsuits Filed Against Him

Boosie Badazz appears on Vlad TV so often that he sometimes runs out of things to reveal. But this week he shared that he had recently been hit with two new lawsuits within the span of a week. “I hate this court sh*t. I done been sued two times this week,” Boosie begins. The first suit was over a wrongful death that occurred near the music video shoot for Boosie and Baby Soulja’s 2017 song “Dirty.”

“When I got [to the video shoot] it had already happened down the street, or whatever. Why the hell are you suing me? ‘I didn’t provide security.’ I wasn’t part of the video. I was just coming to the video to do my part and leave,” Boosie explained. The second lawsuit deals with a notorious fight that broke out during a performance on the Legendz Of The Streetz Tour in 2021. “They got another dude suing me for the State Farm thing. They say he was just a bystander there,” Boosie claims. Additionally he was famously removed from the tour in the wake of the fight. Check out the full interview explanation below.

Boosie Badazz Facing New Lawsuits

Even though Boosie claims to hate the legal system, he’s also making use of it himself. He’s threatened to sue numerous artists online recently for sampling and interpolating his songs. This includes rappers like YG and Kodak Black, but one rapper in particular seems to have really upset him and it sparked a substantial beef.

Subsequently, after Boosie threatened to sue Rod Wave for sampling one of his songs without asking, Wave hit back hard. He didn’t hold anything back in a response rant aimed at Boosie posted online. Just earlier this week Boosie once again claimed that he was going forward with a lawsuit against Wave and it was “too late” to change his mind. What do you think of Boosie facing two new lawsuits this week alone? Let us know in the comment section below.
