Ludacris Had To Perform A Clean Acapella Set At The Atlanta Braves Championship Celebration
Thanks to some technical difficulties during his set at the Atlanta Braves’ World Championship celebration, Ludacris was forced to perform not only clean versions (it was a family event, after all) but also do so without his instrumentals. Fortunately, the veteran rapper was more than up to the task.
After playing his hits “Welcome To Atlanta” and “Southern Hospitality” with no trouble, the beat for “Yeah” began skipping as a result of the fans’ exuberant bouncing, according to Luda’s DJ. So, he decided to perform “Yeah” and “Money Maker” totally acapella before being able to complete the set as normal, noting that a “true MC” should be able to perform under nearly any conditions and still keep the party going.
Once the sound was fixed, Luda ran through a dizzying display of fan favorites, including “Fantasy,” “Roll Out,” “Stand Up,” “How Low,” and “Move B***h,” closing out fittingly with “All I Do Is Win.” Luda’s set was preceded by another pair of hometown heroes, Big Boi and Killer Mike, who chose to perform their song “Kryptonite.” Big Boi also performed several Outkast favorites with Sleepy Brown, including “ATLiens,” “Bombs Over Baghdad,” and “Rosa Parks.” Veteran hip-hop journalist Julia Beverly was right in the front row for the whole show, posting some great videos on Instagram, which you can watch below.

Life Is Beautiful Announces A Slate Of Aftershows With Brittany Howard, Ludacris, and Others
Las Vegas festival Life Is Beautiful was forced to cancel its 2020 edition (of course), but it’s coming back strong in 2021 with an impressive lineup. Even if you can’t make it to the actual festival (which takes place from September 17 to 19), though, some additional “Life Is Beautiful Presents” performances will still pack quite the punch.
The festival announced the series of shows, at Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas, today: Jacob Collier will perform on September 15, Brittany Howard (with Ant Clemons) on the 16th, San Holo on the 17th, and Ludacris (with Childish Major) on the 18th.
Those artists are also on the festival lineup, which is led by Billie Eilish, Tame Impala, ASAP Rocky, Green Day, Haim, Young Thug, St. Vincent, 6lack, Modest Mouse, Don Toliver, Lany, Earthgang, Purity Ring, Ashnikko, Shaed, Trevor Daniel, Still Woozy, Noah Cyrus, Yaeji, Remi Wolf, and Jamila Woods.
When announcing that lineup, organizers noted, “When curating the lineup for Life Is Beautiful this year, we challenged ourselves to stay grounded in the realities of the year that we just lived. The way we discover artists changed, the places we listened to music evolved, and the meaning of music deepened as we listened in new ways. This year’s lineup isn’t our 2019 lineup in 2021. It’s our 2021 lineup, and celebrates the artists, both established and emerging, who were the shining lights during our darkest days.”

Ludacris Calls Himself ‘The Worst Hoarder Of All,’ But Has A Smart Solution For It
In a new interview with The Breakfast Club, Ludacris calls himself the “worst” hoarder but reveals that he has a smart solution to help him cope with it. “My wife will tell you I am the worst when it comes to hoarding,” he says. “My wife’s family, they still live in Africa, so everything I hoard we put on this container that goes across the water and I give it to everybody in Africa who’s going to appreciate it so much more than any family members or anybody I could give to in the United States of America. I am the worst hoarder of all, trust.”
Even if he didn’t send all his stuff abroad to share the wealth, it’s unlikely he’d have trouble finding the space for it. In another recent interview, he admitted that his 22-acre property is so large, he didn’t even realize it had such amenities as a tennis court until he had to quarantine last year during the pandemic. Among the things he’s held onto is a ’90s-era Acura Legend he still drives, despite having over 250,000 miles on it. He told the show’s hosts that “I’ve had that car now two decades. There are things that you have for your whole life and that’s one of those things that’s a staple in my life. I had it before the deal and commercial success, so I’m gonna ride it literally until the wheels fall off.”
That’s a fitting quote for a star of the Fast & Furious series, who’s even held onto childhood habits like devouring Jif peanut butter by the jarful — even during his studio sessions, as he does in a recent ad for the brand featuring Gunna.

Ludacris Recorded Part Of His New Song’ Butter ATL’ With A Mouthful Of Jif Peanut Butter
Although it’s been a while since Ludacris last dropped new music — he’s a busy man, after all, what with learning to cook, learning to fly airplanes(!), and starring in the Fast & Furious sequels over the past year or so — he’s found a clever backdoor back into the rap game, combining his love of the culinary arts with his tongue-twisting gift of gab for “Butter ATL,” a slippery new single partially inspired by his Atlanta contemporary Gunna.
Not only does Luda prove adept at adopting the legato flow of his hometown’s current crop of hip-hop stars, but he also gets a little side action as his mention of Jif peanut butter in one of his eye-popping punchlines ties nicely into Jif’s new ad campaign. In the commercial, Luda struggles with finding a new flow to catch the song’s hypnotic beat before getting caught with a mouthful of peanut butter on his next take. His newly muddled attack perks up Gunna in the background, who notes, “That flow crazy.” Luda challenges followers on TikTok to duplicate his feat, inviting them to spit their own verses with a mouthful of Jif.

The ad arrives in midst of a rap resurgence for the Atlanta veteran, who has popped back up with feature verses on Conway The Machine’s “Scatter Brain” with JID and Justin Bieber’s “Peaches” remix and is set to perform at the Lovers & Friends festival in 2022.
