On this date in 2005, Compton emcee The Game released his debut album, The Documentary, on Aftermath/G-Unit/Interscope records.
The Game was the first G-Unit representative from outside of NYC to be a part of the then-dominating roster consisting of Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks, and its general, 50 Cent. The album was initially called “Nigga Witta Attitude Vol.1,” but Eazy-E’s wife, Tomica Woods-Wright, legally blocked that N.W.A. title reference from being used.
The album received commercial and critical success, reaching gold status in its first week and 2X platinum within the first two months. The singles that received the most acclaim were 50 Cent-assisted, which many felt was the primary reason for the project’s success. “Hate It Or Love It,” “Westside Story,” and This Is How We Do” allowed The Game to see the same degree of fame as his Queens boss but left many critics to wonder if this feat was capable with no guest appearances. The album’s production was a Hip-Hop producers’ Hall of Fame, with the likes of Kanye West. Scott Storch, Just Blaze, Timbaland, and Dr. Dre are behind the boards. On December 29, Rainey argued that The Game has been imploring sneaky business tactics to avoid paying out his $7 million judgment. In the paperwork, Rainey alleged that The Game transferred several high-value assets, including his California mansion (estimated at $2.8 million), trademarks, and even cash funds to shell companies (JTT Holdings, Inc, F12 & Associates, 5th Amendment Entertainment, and Pass Go 2 Win LLC) then his manager Wack 100, to avoid being seized by the courts on Rainey’s behalf via a lien.
Even though Wack 100 testified that he received these items due to debts The Game previously owed him, the judge ruled in Rainey’s favor, urging The Game to resume payment towards the remaining balance. Rainey stated in court that The Game has only paid $500,000 toward the massive seven-figure total so far.
The Game maintains that he did not sexually assault Rainey during the filming of his then-reality show, She Got Game, which aired in 2015.

“A man asking to be spoiled doesn’t sit right with me. It comes with doing right by your woman. Give her a house. She will make it a home,” one IG user reflected. Another person quipped, “$6,500 a lil specific…must of seen a purse he liked .” Elsewhere, one comment caught the West Coast icon’s attention. “Mind you, Game is 50 years old and on the internet talking like this,” it reads.

At a recent performance, he gave a little history lesson to the crowd about how Kendrick Lamar and Nipsey Hussle got their careers going. In the video from thehiphopwolf, The Game flexes his influence and the mark he has left on the rap game. In his speech, he takes credit for putting people onto the aforementioned artists. He says, “I took Nipsey’s CD, put it in my pocket. I took Kendrick on tour when Kendrick was Jay Rock’s hype man.” He concludes his message, by stating, “I put the west on my back. So when n***** say ‘I’m him,’ no n****, I’m him.” Many fans think he is being delusional with one person saying, “Game act like E40, Too Short, Cube & Snoop haven’t existed while he was putting albums out lol these dudes BEEN had the west on their back.” However, The Game’s ego may be too big for him to admit that.

50 Cent is in trouble once again. This time he’s following in the footsteps of Cardi B and angrily throwing a microphone into the crowd during a show. The microphone toss happened after repeated technical difficulties emerged while 50 was trying to perform. But this incident might have caused even more damage than Cardi’s. The microphone reportedly hit Power 96 host Bryhana Monegain in the head. The incicept reportedly left her bruised and bloodied afterwards, signaling the power put behind the throw.
That situation got even worse for 50 after reports emerged that he was a suspect in a battery investigation following the microphone throw. A similar thing happened to Cardi B. After he microphone throw she was briefly the subject of a battery investigation by the Las Vegas Police Department. While she was cleared of all charges it seems like 50 could potentially find himself in even more serious trouble. He’s also catching some heat from other sources for his behavior in the mean time. In a review from just a few days ago, 50 Cent received a cosign from a surprising place. In an interview with Tems for Interview Magazine, Kendrick Lamar shouted out 50 claiming that he “studied” the rapper’s early material and interviews.
