EST Gee Goes Crazy Over 2Pac's "Troublesome '96" for Justin Credible's Freestyles

EST Gee didn’t walk out on Power 106’s Justin Credible as he did Bootleg Kev. While sitting in the Power 106 building, EST fired off an impressive freestyle over 2Pac’s “Troublesome ’96” and he respected the legacy of the beat with a float.

You can see it below. El Toro 2 is out now.

EST Gee Walked Out of ‘Bootleg Kev Podcast’ Interview After Questions About Aliens and Male Pornstars

EST Gee wasn’t feeling the line of questions in an interview with Bootleg Kev, so he dipped out on the podcast. Hitting Instagram, EST Gee revealed he didn’t leave because of being asked about his football past, as Kev suggested, instead due to questions about aliens and pornstars.

“@bootlegkev You tryna play it like I walked out cause of football like ain’t did plenty interviews talking about playing and talk about it in my music,” EST Gee wrote on his Instagram story.

“You asking me if I remembered an old man pornstar,” EST Gee typed. “If I believe in aliens and the NFL combine????? WTF do that got to do with my album dropping Friday? And I literally just walked out that interview 2 hours ago you already got a clip up??? You tryna go viral LOL 100.”

EST Gee closed with, “I got real life shit going ask around ion feel like playing so please don’t play with me cause I play crazy.”

In response, Kev stated he is still a fan of EST and is looking forward to the album dropping. “I also can’t wait to talk about Brian Pumper, Aliens, and Football with future guests,” Kev wrote.

Kev also wrote on Twitter that EST Gee’s team stated the rapper did not only want to talk about typical items like music and also went into his punctuality. “He came 90 minutes late (which isn’t unique with some artists) and didn’t ever really seem to want to talk or be interviewed. I don’t care, I’m still a fan of his music and we got a moment out of it for the Internet. No hard feelings.”

EST Gee has made the major announcement with the launch of his latest music venture, “Young Shiners,” powered by Santa Anna. This new record label and rapper collective will serve as a platform for the next wave of emerging artists in the rap scene. The roster includes EST Lil Zoski, EST Marti, EST DonWon, as well as Santa Anna’s EST SkiMike and EST Lu Mike.

EST Gee’s label venture represents a significant milestone in his entrepreneurial career, expanding his portfolio beyond music. Recognizing the struggles talented artists face in his area due to limited resources, EST Gee aims to break down barriers and provide opportunities for emerging artists in his hometown. With the Young Shiners crew, he is determined to uplift the Louisville rap scene and establish the city as a disruptive force in the industry. This new venture is just the beginning of EST Gee’s mission to put his city on the map.

“I feel like it’s my purpose,” EST Gee says. “You get to a point in your life where you just feel like you know what you were put here to do, and I think this is a major part of it. And for me, that’s giving visibility to people who wouldn’t have had the chance otherwise. I’m grateful that Santa Anna saw the vision I have for us, it’s time for the world to see what we’re made of.”

EST Gee’s Young Shiners partners with Santa Anna, a label services company powered by Sony Music and Alamo Records, to support entrepreneurs and maximize artist business growth. Their debut mixtape, “Shiners Are Forever,” releases on July 14th, offering candid storytelling that sheds light on overlooked aspects of Louisville’s streets, distinguishing itself from traditional trap music scenes. Through this venture, EST Gee and the Young Shiners crew aim to elevate Louisville’s rap scene and give a platform to deserving artists.

“It’s an exciting time,” said Santa Anna founder, Todd Moscowitz. “Propelling the creative potential and success as artists build their own ventures is at the helm of what Santa Anna is. We’re thrilled to be galvanizing that kind of support behind one of hip hop’s leading rappers and the burgeoning artists he’s looking to uplift.”

The first single and video from the label, “Disrespect,” comes from EST SkiMike, which you can hear below.

EST Gee Is Here To “Turn The Streets Up” In New Single

One of Louisville’s most in-demand talents is back with a new single this week, “Turn The Streets Up.” Moreover, this new offering comes just a couple of months after the Kentucky MC dropped his latest album, MAD. Featuring Young Scooter, Boosie Badazz, and Kada, it continued a hot streak of prolific and consistently energetic long-form releases, whether on his own or collaborating with 42 Dugg. Now, it seems like Gee is capitalizing on the success of that album with this new single, which for longtime fans, is more of what you probably love about the 29-year-old. It’s hard, it’s confident, it’s murderous, and yet it doesn’t slouch on lyrical creativity and melodic sensibilities.

Furthermore, this track comes tapped with a catchy and effortless hook from EST Gee, working in some impressive flow switch-ups and a unique vocal cadence. On that note, the “25Min Freestyle” MC’s voice sounds gruff but focused on this song, making sure to not slur his delivery and deliver his bars with emphasis. Given his evocative imagery, cheeky turns of phrase, and engaging rhyme schemes, this is a more lyrically proficient offering than meets the eye. Then again, that’s always been one of his standout talents. In addition, he even features Dugg on the outro, who seemed to call in from jail to urge Gee to… well, “Turn The Streets Up.”

EST Gee’s Music Video For “Turn The Streets Up”

Meanwhile, the instrumental on here has a lot of powerful and rapid bass kicks that keep a balanced bounce. Along with eerie synth patches and key lines, it’s a textbook example of contemporary rap production, with more subtle instrumental additions ultimately serving to emphasize the rapper’s flow and the drum pattern. Go blast this in your car on your next drive and let us know in the comments if you’re already excited for more from the CMG signee. You can check out the music video for “Turn The Streets Up” above, and you can find the track on your preferred streaming service. Also, peep some standout bars from the track down below, and return to HNHH for the latest news and updates on EST Gee.

EST Gee Drops “BALL LIKE ME TOO,” Single Gets Our “Fire Emoji” Seal Of Approval

Following this New Music Friday (March 17), albums from Money Man, T-Pain, and the late Lil Keed have all been making waves. We also heard from GloRilla and Childish Gambino, as well as new singles from Tamar Braxton, Usher, and Diddy. A select few of these arrivals ended up on our weekly Fire Emoji playlist update, kicking off with “BALL LIKE ME TOO.”

The song comes from EST Gee’s new MAD project and finds him effortlessly rapping on the featureless track. Though he carried that one on his own, the 28-year-old did recruit friends like Young Scooter, Boosie Badazz, and Kada to help him out. They appear on titles like “SLAM DUNK,” “HOTBOYS,” and “KADAS SONG.” Thus far, listeners are also loving “The ONE & ONLY” as well as “PRAY YOU DIE IN SURGERY.”

HNHH Fire Emoji Update

Next up on our Fire Emoji update is the Phatnall Remix of GloRilla and Lil Durk’s “Ex’s,” which the rising rap star surprised fans with yesterday. Her Anyways, Life’s Great… EP arrived in late 2022, and she’s since shared plenty of hot singles to remind listeners that she’s coming in hot with her debut album down the road.

Following the sole female appearance of the weekend comes a posthumous song from Lil Keed’s new album. “All I Wanna Know” is just one of the 20-track project’s features from Young Thug, who was incarcerated shortly before the YSL rapper’s untimely death last year. His other bars can be heard on “Big Bag,” which also includes an appearance from Dolly White.

03 Greedo reminded the world that he’s “Bacc Like [He] Never Left” on his most recent song. Skillibeng also came through with a solo track, which he catchily titled “Short Skirt.” For those who prefer their songs sped up, the Jamaican artist also unleashed a faster version on DSPs.

Our final two Fire Emoji selections of the week are collaborative efforts. The first comes from JELEEL! and Armarni White, and is called “GNARLY!” – it’s every bit as awesome as the name makes it sound. Secondly is JPEGMAGIA’s “Lean Beef Patty,” on which he teamed up with Danny Brown to make more music magic.

Stream our weekly Fire Emoji update exclusively on Spotify below. Afterward, tell us which new additions you’ll be adding to your library this weekend in the comments. Make sure to check back tomorrow for more release recommendations on our R&B Season playlist.
