A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie Was Arrested Moments Before His Performance At London’s Wireless Festival

This past weekend, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie was expected to perform in London at the Wireless Festival. Insteead he wound up arrested moments before taking the stage. Official charges for his detainment have not been revealed yet, but in a post to his Instagram Story, the rapper revealed that it stemmed from an incident that occurred two years ago.

“SMH Sorry to everyone who came out to see me at Wireless,” A Boogie wrote in the post. “Police locked me up before I went on stage for something I was accused of 2 years ago. I’m OK and I’ll try my best to make it up to you guys.” Organizers for the Wireless Festival also sent out a message about the arrest. “There has been an incident involving A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie,” the message read, according to Complex. “He is safe and we are working to change his set to sometime tomorrow. We will provide further details as they are made available to us.”

It’s A Boogie’s second arrest in 12 months after a collection of guns and marijuana were found in his New Jersey home during a search. He was then charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and one count of possession of marijuana.

Sheff G + A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie Make Boss Moves W/ Sleepy Hallow In ‘Run It Up’ Video

It’s a New York ting. Rap heavyweights Sheff G, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and Sleepy Hallow all link up for the new rollout of their “Run It Up” single and music video. To accompany the infectious track is the eye-catching cinematic drop directed by Claudia Rezir, the sole woman executive from Winners Circle’s management […]

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie Heads Downtown To Assist Sheff G And Sleepy Hallow On ‘Run It Up’

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie‘s successful rap run precedes the rise of the (mostly) Brooklyn-based drill movement by a couple of years, but that isn’t stopping the Bronx native from making the trek downtown to assist his fellow New York rappers Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow on their menacingly melodic new single “Run It Up.”

The beat splits the difference between the acoustic guitar-laden, almost R&B-ish production favored by A Boogie and the sparse, off-kilter drum patterns employed by drill stars Sheff and Sleepy, giving both boroughs’ representatives plenty to work with as they brag about the travails of street fame and relationships.

Sleepy and Sheff, who have frequently collaborated over the past few years they’ve been active, are just two of the rising stars working to fill the void left behind by the death of Pop Smoke in 2021. While Sleepy just released his debut album Still Sleep? on Empire in June, Sheff is a year removed from his own debut One And Only, and appears to be preparing for his next release. A Boogie, meanwhile, has been building on his prior success with multiple cross-borough collabs this year, including another Brooklyn linkup with Rowdy Rebel for “9 Bridge” and an appearance on Nas’ King’s Disease sequel.

Nas’ ‘King’s Disease 2’ Tracklist Includes Features From Eminem And Lauryn Hill

Last year, Hit-Boy helped Nas overcome his recent album slump, executive producing the Queens legend’s latest full-length, King’s Disease. The results spoke for themselves; not only was the album credited with breaking rap fans’ prevailing “Nas has a tin ear for beats” narrative, but it was also one of the most critically acclaimed rap projects of the year.

It looks like the two principals were pretty impressed with each other, as they recently announced a follow-up titled King’s Disease II to be released on the same projected date as Kanye West’s Donda. Either that, or it’ll be a Lost Tapes-type release collecting some of the cutting room clippings from the original sessions and stitching them together — which has worked for Nas before on Lost Tapes. Today, they shared the tracklist, revealing collaborations with A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Blxst, Eminem, EPMD, Lauryn Hill, and YG.

King’s Disease II will thus mark the second collaboration between Nas and Em and Nas and Lauryn. While Eminem produced Nas’s 2002 God’s Son song “The Cross,” Nas and Ms. Hill collaborated on Nas’ biggest hit to date, 1996’s “If I Ruled The World” from It Was Written. Yung Bleu continues to make the most of an impressive 2020, which saw him increase his audience with Love Scars: The Five Stages of Emotions, plus a remix of “You’re Mines Still” with Drake.
