Sleepy Hallow And TaTa Have A New Single “For You”

Jamaican-born and Brooklyn-raised rapper Sleepy Hallow grabs TaTa for a brand new single. The song, “For You,” is two minutes even and it features a chorus and verse from guest rapper TaTa. Sleepy comes in for the second verse only, surprisingly. However, he still puts on a nice performance when he does appear. This single seems to appear on the next project from Sleepy Hallow. Genius shows on their website the name and cover art, with the title being Boy Meets World.

The website says that it should be released on September 15. That means it will be Sleepy’s fourth studio album and first since 2021. The last project, Still Sleep? features his biggest hit “2055.” The song currently sits at a whopping 644 million plus streams on Spotify. This fourth single of 2023, “For You,” showcases the lane that Hallow is strongest in. His drill rap style mixed with emotional bars is prevalent once again.

Sleepy Hallow “For You” Featuring TaTa Listen:

The beat is very simple and typical drill fare. The lyrics talk a lot about suffering pain, losing love, and trying to find that inner confidence again. The sad guitar strings add to the dramatic tone. Furthermore, this is the first time these two artists have been on a track together. But, fans are loving the new song underneath the YouTube audio, “nah sleepy x tata is INSANE.”

️What are your initial thoughts on this brand new track from Sleepy Hallow and TaTa, “For You?” Should these two artists collaborate more often? Who has the best performance on this track? Sleepy Hallow & Marshmello Join The “GBG” On New Single

No one hears “Sleepy Hallow” and thinks EDM, the same way that no one hears Marshmello and thinks “Brooklyn drill.” But what’s great about these genres is that they work so well with so many others, and with each other, you can get a catchy and faithful song to its roots. Moreover, the two artists just released the new single “GBG,” which features a high-pitched vocal sample that sounds like the lead-up to a progressive house drop of sorts. However, the song is firmly planted in New York drill territory, as the Flatbush MC always does with his hard-hitting material. While it might not be a new take on the genre or anything outside of either’s traditional comfort zones or skill sets, it makes for a pretty straightforward and instantly satisfying cut.

Furthermore, a great deal of that satisfaction comes from the fact that Sleepy Hallow stays on a consistent flow and locks into the beat smoothly. His voice propels the whole thing, rendering the chipmunks lead melodic vocals to a simple background addition to the main draw. “GBG” also benefits from a seamless verse-chorus-verse structure, where the 23-year-old’s bars are what moves one section of the track to the next rather than a melodic or instrumental switch-up. Sure, it might not be the most elaborate structure, but it’s a clear and righteous effort to spotlight Hallow’s presence on this song. He’s a leader in his scene, and one that’s unfortunately had a lot of time in his career cut short by external issues.

Sleepy Hallow’s “GBG” With Marshmello: Watch The Music Video

Meanwhile, for those unfamiliar with Marshmello, this is far from the first time that the EDM giant has crossed over into the hip-hop or R&B space. Just this year, he released the bubbly Brent Faiyaz collaboration “Fell In Love,” and will likely continue to expand his credits in the future. These two certainly set themselves up as a potentially consistent and chemistry-filled collaboration for the future. Sheff G And Sleepy Hallow And 30 Other Alleged Gang Members Were Indicted On Conspiracy Charges

Brooklyn drill rappers Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow are among 32 people facing 140 charges in a New York criminal conspiracy indictment, according to the New York Times. Sheff G, whose real name is Michael Williams, is accused of bankrolling two NY street gangs, the 8 Trey Crips and 9 Ways, which are linked to 12 shootings and a murder.

Prosecutors say after one such violent incident, Williams treated the shooters to a lavish dinner at a Manhattan steakhouse in 2020 which was also attended by Sheff’s frequent collaborator Sleepy Hallow, real name Tegan Chambers. Hallow had just completed an eight-month sentence in prison for weapons possession. Although authorities say Williams used the profits of his rap career to fund his gang activity, Brooklyn district attorney Eric Gonzalez maintains that no lyrics were used in the indictment.

During a press conference covered by Rolling Stone Gonzalez said, “This is not an indictment of rap music. In fact, this investigation did not rely on a single lyric to prove any of the alleged crimes. But it is an indictment of how when someone does well for themselves and could do real good in our community, they use their fame and money to further gang violence.”

The use of rap lyrics in racketeering/conspiracy indictments such as this one has been a hot topic in the past year after Atlanta authorities indicted Young Thug and several members of his YSL label including Gunna using samples of their raps as evidence. The practice has been called racist by critics and several jurisdictions are considering legislation to ban the practice.

Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow both rose to stardom as part of the explosion of drill rap’s popularity in 2019 alongside fellow Brooklynite Pop Smoke. After his death, they were among the young artists who picked up the torch for drill in defiance of New York Mayor Eric Adams’ seeming crusade against the street movement.

Brooklyn drill rapper Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow are of over 32 alleged gang members arrested in a 140-count indictment in New York on Tuesday (May 16).

According to the New York Daily News, Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow treated fellow gang members to a splurging dinner at a Manhattan steak house in celebration of a 2020 shooting executred at Prospect Lefferts Gardens that killed 23-year-old Theodore Senior and injured five mores.

In addition, one of the members was awarded with a new custom gold chain referencing the street the dead man was from. According to NYPD Deputy Chief Jason Savino, the members wore matching outfits during their visit to the steakhouse.

24-year-old Sheff G, born Michael Williams, and 23-year-old, Sleepy Hollow, born Tegan Chambers, and 30 additional gang members were connected to 27 occasions of violence, which included at minium a dozen shootings. The arrested men and women are alleged members of 8 Trey Crips and 9 Way gangs.

“Sheff G is not a wannabe drill rapper. He is a legitimate person who made it good. He has gold records, he’s made a lot of money. He rented a very large house, some may call it a mansion, in Short Hills, N.J.,” Gonzalez said.

He added, “He [Sheff G] used his fame and fortune to elevate gang violence in Brooklyn.”

The inveistgation began after the Gardens shooting, sparked by social media disses between G and a Folk Nation gang-affiliated rapper. The shooting was executed in partnership of 8 Trey and 9 way. Authorities revealed a text message from Sheff G’s sister Williams’ stated members of the rival gangs needed “to get hit or killed.” Sheff G asked for receipts to show the executed shooting, receiving images fo the victim and news articles.

Additional acts of violence in the report include a retaliation shooting at Sheff G’s mansion. Sheff G driving to Flatbush with shooters and executing another retaliation shooting, and the kidnapping and beating of a man who is believed to have gave up Sheff G’s home location.

Sheff G was already in custody, serving two years for gun possession. He was originally slated to be released in June. The new indictment holds charges of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy, weapon possession, assault and gang assault.

Brooklyn Rapper Sleepy Hallow Released From Prison

Screen Shot 2023 02 14 at 10.54.40 PM

Footage has surfaced earlier this week of drill rapper Sleepy Hallow being released from prison after serving a little under eight months on an illegal weapons charge.

The video, which was released by Hallow’s close friend and collaborator Sheff G, who is currently serving two years on a weapons charge himself, shows Hallow popping a bottle of champagne outside of the correctional facility where he was being held.

“@_sleepyhallow_ home I’m next free me free the guys,” Sheff wrote in the caption.

Hallow, whose real name is Tegan Chambers, was arrested on June 24, 2022 for second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The 23-year-old was on probation at the time and was subsequently sentenced and given a projected prison release date of February 13, 2023.

Sheff G Reveals Sleepy Hallow Has Been Released From Prison: “I’m Next”

The state of Brooklyn drill – or New York drill music, for that matter – wouldn’t be as prosperous if it wasn’t for Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow. The two rappers emerged as frontrunners of the subgenre before it proliferated beyond Brooklyn and the East Coast as a whole. Over the years, they continued to make waves with an abundance of releases but unfortunately, some legal issues have impeded their hustle. Sheff G has been locked up since 2021 and Sheff G since last June.

Despite their incarcerations, Sleepy Hallow and Sheff G continued to keep a grip on the rap game with a slew of releases. Sleepy Hallow unveiled records like “Marie,” while Sheff G dropped off From The Can, a 12-song project with appearances from A Boogie, Sleepy Hallow, and more. At the same time, they’ve also continued to push the Winners Circle imprint from behind bars. Sheff G and Sleepy undoubtedly have some big plans that they’re going to carry out once they come home.

Sleepy Hallow Released From Prison, Sheff G Says

Sleepy Hallow’s back home. After a judge sentenced him to seven months for a weapons charge stemming from a Feb. 2022 arrest, Sheff G revealed that Sleepy Hallow was released from prison. He shared a video on his Instagram page which shows the “Die Young” rapper emerging out of the correctional facilities as he pops a gold bottle in celebration of his release. “[Sleepy Hallow] home,” Sheff G captioned the video. “I’m next free me, free the guys.”

Police booked Sheff G in New York City on second-degree gun possession, which violated his bail conditions. The rapper was taken into custody and was held behind bars until his court hearing in August 2021. Then, he pled guilty to the charges two months later and the judge handed down a 2-year sentence. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing Sheff G join Sleepy Hallow in the coming months. Though they’ve maintained their presence in hip-hop during their incarceration, fans are longing for new music. Perhaps, it won’t take long for Sleepy to unveil a “First Day Out” freestyle. Check out the video of Sleepy’s release above.
