Logic Cements His Retirement’s Over For Good W/ New Pack

East Coast rapper Logic‘s retirement is officially history. He went online to announce a major comeback in the form of a new mixtape. Logic Announces New Mixtape Logic has been releasing a new single every Friday, but he’s finally taking it to a new level. He announced to Instagram followers that his Bobby Tarantino III […]

Logic Commits To Being There For A Loved One On The Supportive ‘Call Me’

Just like many rappers who claimed they were retiring from the game have done, Logic reemerged from his cave to step up to the mic and share new music with fans shortly after his declaration. His return came less than a year after the release of his sixth album, No Pressure, a project he used to momentarily conclude his career. Now, the Maryland rapper is back in action, and he adds on to his recent string of releases with his latest effort, “Call Me.”

The track is a laid-back effort that’s conceptually similar to his highest-charting single, “1-800-273-8255,” as it finds him providing a hand of support to those around him who might be in need of it. “You know you can call me / When nobody picking up,” he raps over the song’s mellow production. “When it feel like don’t nobody in the world give a f*ck / Call me / I’ll be there to pick you up.”

“Call Me” is the third single that Logic revealed that his next project, Bobby Tarantino III, is on the way. The first was “Vaccine,” which he recently shared a music video for, and the second was “My Way.” Aside from Bobby Tarantino III, Logic is also promoting a joint project with Madlib as he’s shared a collection of singles that include “Raddest Dad” and “Mafia Music.”

Logic And His Entourage Take Over In Their Rowdy ‘Vaccine’ Video

After dropping his sixth studio album No Pressure last year, Logic announced he would be stepping away from music. His son had just been born and the rapper wanted to focus on his new role as a father. While Logic did end up taking an extended hiatus from his music, it wasn’t long before the rapper returned to announce new songs. Logic unveiled “Vaccine” earlier this month to mark his return to the limelight, and he’s now followed up the song with a rowdy visual.

Directed by Mike Holland and Justin Fleischer, Logic’s “Vaccine” video is a fitting return for the rapper. The quick-paced visual shows the rapper and his crew hitting the streets to have a good time while sporting shirts that aptly read “vaccine.” The video occasionally cuts to share behind-the-scenes videos and photos from Logic’s personal life, depicting him both in the studio and playing with his son. The song itself speaks to Logic choosing to prioritize his family as he fires off verses about spending time at home. “I got happiness, ain’t no need to repeat, I got number ones / Ain’t got time for these rappers, I only got time for my son / Him and his momma the one,” he raps.

In addition to sharing the “Vaccine” video, Logic has teased a few potential project. The “Vaccine” single features some vague lyrics about the impending release of Bobby Tarantino 3, the third installment of his mixtape series. On top of that, Logic has continued teasing a joint project with Madlib.

Logic Is Feeling Self-Assured On His Smooth New Single ‘My Way’

Logic’s “retirement” was less of a departure from music and more of a break between projects. He has remained active since his 2020 album No Pressure and has dropped a handful of new songs so far this year. The latest of them is “My Way,” which features a dream-pop-inspired instrumental and Logic rapping about being confident in his way of going about life: “I’ma do it my way / Oh yeah, I’ma do it my way / They lookin’ at me sideways / But I ain’t livin’ for the dead today.”

This is his second new song of the month, as he started July by dropping “Vaccine.” At the end of May, he also dropped a pair of new songs: MadGic’s “Mafia Music” and a solo cut, “Over You.”

Meanwhile, Logic revealed last week that he landed an acting role in the upcoming Apple TV+ series Mr. Corman, which was created, written, and directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Gordon-Levitt also stars, alongside Arturo Castro, Juno Temple, Debra Winger, and others. The show is set to premiere on August 6.

The rapper also has a new memoir, This Bright Future, coming out this year. He says of the book, “This is the story of everything I’ve gone through and it’s been a beautiful and difficult journey to relive. There’s honestly so much that I’ve never been able to express in my music and the interviews that followed. I’m so happy and proud to finally give my fans and the rest of the world my entire story. The way I never could with my music!”

Logic Celebrates His Return With Overt Nonchalance On ‘Vaccine’

In case you haven’t noticed yet, Logic has returned to the hip-hop world from somewhat of a retirement. Last summer, he called it quits from rap world with the release of his sixth album, No Pressure. While he did step away from the game for some time, it wasn’t long enough to be deemed a short retirement as new music slowly arrived from his camp. He confirmed his official return last week and with it came the release of The YS Collection Vol. 1, a project composed of songs from his Young Sinatra days. Now, the Maryland rapper is back with brand new music.

Logic arrives with “Vaccine,” his first new song since returning from retirement. The track uses hard-hitting production to surround the rapper’s nonchalance as he takes his first few steps back into the game. “Came back with a team / Like rap ain’t a thing I’m a do anything,” he says on the song. “I’ma rap, I’ma sing / Yeah I’m back as the king.” Elsewhere he seemingly teases the upcoming release of Bobby Tarantino 3, the third installment in the mixtape series he launched back in 2016. “Ready to f*ck up the game,” he raps. “BT3 now we at it again, mane.”

In addition to the possible arrival of Bobby Tarantino 3, Logic has also teased a joint project with Madlib over the past couple of months. The pair has released singles that include “Raddest Dad” and “Mafia Music.”

Logic Teases A New Release For This Week With A Michael Jordan Parody

Around this time last year, Logic announced his retirement from music, but that hasn’t actually stopped him from releasing new music. He’s released a handful of songs since then, both under his own name (like the recent “Over You“) and with Madlib as MadGic (like “Mars Only Pt. 3“). So, it would seem that Logic isn’t quite feeling retirement, a suspicion he backed up last night by teasing something new coming Friday.

He made the announcement by parodying the famous fax Michael Jordan’s team sent to announce the basketball legend was coming out of retirement. Logic’s post reads, “The following statement was released today by Logic, through his attorney Paul Rothenberg Partner of Rothenberg, Mohr & Binder, LLP located in NYC, in response to questions about his future career plans: ‘I’m back.’”

This mirrors the original Jordan fax, which read, “The following statement was released today by Michael Jordan, through his personal attorney and business manager David B. Falk, Chairman of Falk Associates Enterprises, Inc. (‘FAME’) located in Washington, D.C., in response to questions about his future career plans: ‘I’m back.’”

This tweet will look familiar to hip-hop fans who have been keeping up with music news lately: A month ago, Migos did basically the exact same thing as Logic to announce the release date of Culture III.
