August Alsina Fires Back at Hate Following “Shake the World” Single

It has been a busy week for the Smith family, and anyone entangled with the power couple. Following the infamous Oscars slap, August Alsina would release a single titled “Shake the World,” where the singer drops a line about his entanglement with Jada Pinkett-Smith in the song. The single sparked a few fans to become upset with Alsina’s timing to release the single, accusing him of wanting clout at the expense of another black man.

“Boy that new song [trash] This is a bad look. You’re not a victim in this. You made a DECISION to sleep with another man’s WIFE and now that it’s time to reap you wanna put these people’s business out there instead of admitting that wasn’t P and owning your [sh*t]” one fan tweeted to the singer.

“Ifeel for you and your ancestors brother. Cus u ain’t nevaaaaa had to lie this hard,” Alsina wrote with a laughing emoji. “U know that shit hard boy! Shit put u in a hypnosis soon as it drop! Cus Got Dammit ‘I shake the wurrrrrrrrl.’”

“My point is this. You’re actually talented. All of that [sh*t] that you’ve been through in your childhood and life is what attracted a lot of us to your music. You don’t NEED to be doing THIS. All you need to do is drop a hot album and K.I.M. IJS,” the fan responded.

“I’m not a child anymore! & No need to remind me of me being talented, God gifted me that! I’m STiLL talking about MY life in my music, and Yal got a problem! BE MAD! Black twitter is the new age slave owners! But Yal ddon’town me! & u go stay mad about it,” August Alsina would respond.

August Alsina References Being “Tangled Up” in New Single “Shake the World”

August Alsina is trying to bring back the entanglement talk. The singer and ex-bae of Jada Pinkett Smith has released a new single titled “Shake the World,” and he made sure to weave in “tangled up” in one of the verses.

“’Cause goddamn it, that’s right
I shake the world I heard it’s some s–t that’s bound
To go down when you got
A billion dollars on the elevator
Well, of course some s–t was bound to go down
When you tangled up with the world’s favorite”

“Tangled up” references the infamous entanglement moment, which Pinkett Smith called her romance with Alsina.

Following Chris Rock being slapped by Will Smith at the Oscars, August Alsina hit Instagram with a special message. The R&B singer shared a selfie with the message of choosing peace.

August Alsina Seemingly Addresses The Will Smith Slap; ‘Choose Peace’

Aside from Ja Rule, the two people many folks wanted to hear from the most about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock were Rock himself and August Alsina. Rock, obviously, was the victim of the slap — he’s fine, by the way, everybody should maybe calm down a hair — while Alsina is the singer who was reportedly “entangled” with Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith, a thing for which all three were roundly abused in the media for about a year (you’ll remember that Smith attacked Rock after the comedian joked about Jada’s hair). Both men finally addressed the incident yesterday; Chris onstage at his Boston show, and August via — where else? — his Instagram account.

Posting a selfie to his feed (not his Story as so many celebrities tend to do), Alsina didn’t directly mention the slap, but he did advise readers to ‘choose peace,’ something he appears to be doing himself. “Trusting that life’s intricate puzzle pieces are all forming together for the greater good and mastering of the seasonally sometime chaotic nature of your life’s art piece that’s being formed and painted by birthing life to your internal masterpiece,” he wrote. “grown through external chaos-metamorphosing alchemy, dark turned 2 light and beauty within. I’m A Walking Billboard & Network Simply Desiring To Televise & Broadcast Love, the love, grace and healing embrace of God, Good Music that’s healing (w/ a lil bit of nasty).”

Alsina’s involvement in the Smiths allegedly open relationship made waves online throughout 2020 when it was revealed that he was supposedly dating the older Jada. Social media had several field days with that information and the episode of Jada’s Red Table Talk in which she addressed the relationship smashed the show’s one-day viewing totals by rather a lot. And now that we’ve all driven up the streams of J. Cole’s “Jada and Will love” name-checking single “No Role Modelz” and heard from everyone except Daniel Radcliffe about the incident, perhaps it’s finally time to move on.

Throughout the fallout of Will Smith’s slap to Chris Rock on the Oscar’s stage, many fans pointed toward no public attack of August Alsina after he outed his “entanglement” with Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Will and Jada spoke about the situation in a special episode of Red Table Talk. That table is rumored to be the home of the conversation about Smith’s actions this past Sunday night.
