Lil Wayne is a common sight at NBA games. Wayne is an avid sports fan and loves basketball, so it’s only fitting he leads the promo for the NBA playoffs. He leads a list of big names that have been tapped by the NBA to feature in their playoff promotion. The promotion features narration from Chris Rock. Additionally, other celebrities, including ESPN’s Malika Andrews, Guy Fieri, and singer Anuel AA, joined Lil Wayne in the promotion. The commercial also features several NBA stars like Anthony Edwards, Jalen Brunson, and Jayson Tatum.

The NBA playoffs are shaping up to be spectacular. With so many good teams, star players, and incredible matchups, the playoffs need a hype man. Weezy is the perfect person to lead the playoff promo. The New Orleans native’s hometown team still has a chance to make it, but he is known to have allegiances with other teams like The Celtics. Furthermore, Wayne is routinely seen at Lakers games with his son. NBA fans will likely see Weezy courtside in their commercial breaks this postseason.

Lil Wayne NBA Commercial Kicks The Playoffs Off

Chris Rock narrates as we see NBA stars like Jason Tatum, joined by Lil Wayne and ESPN’s Malika Andrews. The ad campaign is called “Playoff Mode,” and we see Jayson Tatum being asked about “Playoff Jayson.” The idea is players elevate their game in the playoffs. Tatum denies the allegations, and Chris Rock goes into the evidence. Rock introduces Lil Wayne as “Playoff Tunechi,” as we see him in an arcade playing a claw machine game. It’s a fun commercial, and Wayne looks like he is having a good time. We also see Shaq and Guy Fieri as the commercial ends.

The NBA playoffs start on Saturday, April 20th, with matchups all day. Before the big show, the final spots in the Western Conference will be decided tonight. The New Orleans Pelicans play the Sacramento Kings for the final spot in the west. Additionally, the Chicago Bulls take on the Miami Heat for the final spot in the east. It’s a Thing,” now available on all @NBA social platforms and the NBA App. Premiering during tonight’s 2024 SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament on TNT, the campaign captures the intensity and excitement of the postseason journey as teams vie for a spot in the NBA Playoffs presented by Google Pixel.

Narrated by actor and comedian Chris Rock, the campaign features NBA stars like Nikola Jokić, Jayson Tatum, Anthony Edwards, and Damian Lillard, alongside ESPN’s Malika Andrews and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal. The film opens with Tatum facing the “Playoff Jayson” question, sparking a debate among players and personalities. Despite denials, the highlights speak volumes, leading Rock to conclude that “Playoff Mode” is a thing.

Directed by Felix Brady and created with Translation, the campaign will be complemented by a print, digital, and audio initiative, with high-impact placements across various platforms. Today In Hip Hop History: Cult Classic Flick ‘CB4’ Opened In Theaters 31 Years Ago

On this date 31 years ago, Gusto and the gang shows us what gangsta Hip-Hop is all about.

In 1993, Chris Rock, Allen Payne and Charlie Murphy gave their own take of how things go down behind the scenes with gangsta rappers vs. real-life gangsters in the comedy flick CB4. Directed by and starring Rock, CB4 was a parody that pokes fun at “the world’s most dangerous group” N.W.A. and features several Hip Hop notables including Ice-T, Ice Cube, Flavor Flav and the late Eazy-E.

Murphy, who played the role of “Gusto”, is a certified “G’ who is “three generations deep in gangsterdom.” Rock, who plays up and coming rapper Albert Brown from “LoCash” California, jack Gusto’s gangster look, background and persona, becoming MC Gusto after the “gangsta” Gusto went to prison. The group that Rock’s character formed, who were called CB4, which stood for gangsta Gusto’s prison location ‘Cell Block 4″, took the rap world by storm until reality hit; Gusto gets out of jail.

Salute to Rock, Charlie Murphy (RIP), Allen Payne and even Daddy-O of Stetsasonic, who was the rapper for CB4’s hits “Straight Outta LoCash” and “Sweat From My Balls.” CB4 is definitely a comedic learning tool and will forever be a piece of Hip-Hop history!

Chris Rock and Netflix Announce Live Standup Event #ChrisRockLive 'Selective Outrage'

Chris Rock is sliding into the director chair for Another Round, a film based on the Thomas Vinterberg comedy that won the Best International Feature Film Oscar.

According to Deadline, the film will have Leonardo DiCaprio stepping in as a producer for Appian Way, which will team with Makeready production for Fifth season.

This is the latest film with Rock as a director, following the forthcoming King: A Life, which pulls from the Jonathan Eig book about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

There is no current release date for the film.

This means that the nature of their relationship unknown and open to speculation.

Rose has been single since her messy split with AE Edwards in 2021. “I want to be single for the rest of my life,” Rose declared during an interview earlier this year. Meanwhile, Rock was last linked to actress Lake Bell. The were reportedly an item for several months last year. However, they never officially confirmed that they were dating. Grammy 2024 Nominees: A Look At Best Comedy Album

The Grammy Awards have been recognizing comedy recordings since the 1959 ceremony when the category was first introduced. At the time, it was known as the Best Comedy Performance category, and it has since gone through a couple of name changes. However, from 2004 until now, it has been referred to as the Best Comedy Album category. Showcasing outstanding comedy recordings, this award has gone to some of the most prominent names in comedy over the years. The nominees for the 2024 Grammys were recently announced. In a similar fashion, the Best Comedy Album category houses big names. With five comedy icons in the running, here are the Grammys 2024 nominees for Best Comedy Album.

Selective Outrage – Chris Rock

Chris Rock has gained widespread success through his work in stand-up comedy. He often explores racial, social, and political issues with a sharp, humorous, and thought-provoking edge. Throughout his career, Rock has made several appearances in film and TV series of various genres. However, his most notable appearance was arguably in Saturday Night Live, the sketch comedy show that introduced him to the world.

Since leaving SNL in 1993, Rock has come to be regarded as one of the funniest men in America. While he has been active in the entertainment industry for over three decades, he shows no signs of stopping. With three Grammys to his name in this category, he is now looking to snag a fourth win in 2024 with Selective Outrage. In the special, Rock addresses several things. However, the most popular topic he discussed was certainly the infamous Will Smith Oscars slap. Released as Netflix’s first-ever live event, Selective Outrage was widely polarizing. However, it has earned various accolades, including three Primetime Emmy nominations.

Someone You Love – Sarah Silverman

Another SNL alum, Sarah Silverman worked as a writer for the sketch comedy show between 1993 and 1994. Although she was fired after one season, she has grown to become one of the most recognizable comediennes in stand-up comedy. Over the years, the Emmy award-winning performer has released several specials, showcasing her comedic talents. Two of the most popular ones are Jesus Is Magic (2005) and the Grammy-nominated We Are Miracles (2014). Also, she created and starred in The Sarah Silverman Program, a TV program that ran on Comedy Central from 2007 to 2010.

Silverman’s nomination at the 2024 Grammys is her third nomination so far. However, if she takes the statuette home next year, it would be her first win. Someone You Love is also her first stand-up special since the equally Grammy-nominated A Speck of Dust (2017). Released as an HBO Original, the special can be watched on the streaming service.

I Wish You Would – Trevor Noah

Amongst his many talents, Trevor Noah’s comedic gift shines brightest. The South African comedian and former TV host achieved international fame as the host of The Daily Show. He succeeded Jon Stewart in 2015 and departed as its host in 2022. However, his career is far from over.

Noah has earned many accolades for his work. He received 11 Primetime Emmy nominations so far, winning one for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series in 2017. In addition, Noah received his first Grammy nomination in 2020 for the Netflix special, Trevor Noah: Son Of Patricia. His nomination at the 2024 Grammys makes it his second attempt at claiming the award for Best Comedy Album. With I Wish You Would, he might be able to achieve what Son of Patricia couldn’t and win his first Grammy.

I’m An Entertainer – Wanda Sykes

I’m an Entertainer premiered on May 23, 2023, on Netflix. It is Sykes’ first comedy special to earn a Grammy nomination, so it’s an important entry in her catalog. Wanda Sykes has been in the entertainment industry for over 30 years and counting. After building an iron-clad career, at this point, her reputation precedes her. Over the years, Sykes has been recognized by many awarding bodies. She has received a whopping 17 Primetime Emmys nominations, winning one for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. Winning the Best Comedy Album award at the 2024 Grammys would be a big win for the comedy veteran.

What’s In A Name? – Dave Chappelle

Based on achievements alone, the hilarious veteran Dave Chappelle is the biggest competition to the other nominees on this list. He’s been on a winning streak since his first nomination for Best Comedy Album in 2018. Since then, he has won three more awards in the category, winning all four of his nominations. If Chappelle emerges victorious once again at the 2024 Grammys, his unbeaten streak would continue. That would make him a five-time winner of the Best Comedy Album Grammy. Winning a fifth award in this category would also tie him with comedy greats, George Carlin and Richard Pryor. The only other performer with more wins is Bill Cosby, who has won the award seven times. What’s in a Name, the stand-up special that pays homage to Chappelle’s alma mater and his comedy roots, is available to stream on Netflix.
