Nicki Minaj Rallies Her Fans To Prepare For A ‘Very Very Very Important’ Announcement

Nicki Minaj has a big surprise for fans and she’s asking them all to meet her on an Instagram Livestream later this week. It’s the latest in what’s been a comeback year of sorts for the famed rapper. Her last album came in 2018 with Queen while, prior to May at least, her last solo single arrived in 2020 with “Yikes.” After a lengthy wait, Nicki returned with three new songs — one of them being “Seeing Green” with Lil Wayne and Drake — that came attached to a reuploaded version of her beloved mixtape, Beam Me Up Scotty. Now it appears Nicki has more on the way for fans.

“There’s something I URGENTLY need to share w you guys,” Nicki tweeted with a slew of siren emojis. “I’ll go LIVE on IG THURSDAY @ 10:30PM EST No, I won’t be late. In fact, I’ll be early. This is VERY VERY VERY IMPORTANT. Love you guys so much.”

The vague announcement left fans guessing what the “very very very important” news could. There’s a chance it’s regarding a new album from the rapper which would end her drought of three years without one. Other guesses have been that the livestream might be an update on her upcoming HBO Max docuseries. Nicki previously confirmed that the series will be made up of six half-hour episodes that dive into her professional and personal world while giving fans unique access to her life.

Meet The Maraj’s: An Up-Close Look At Nicki Minaj’s Family

Fans were shocked when Young Money’s Nicki Minaj posted a birthday message to her sister Ming on Instagram. Many even claimed they looked like identical twins. Lil Kim Would Love To Face Off Against Nicki Minaj On ‘Verzuz’

For years now, there has been tension between Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj, with the former calling the latter a “snake” in 2017, for example. Now, though, the two pioneering rappers could be brought together on one of the most popular platforms of the past year: Verzuz.

In a red carpet interview ahead of the BET Awards yesterday, Kim was asked if she would do a Verzuz show and she responded simply, “Yes.” She was then asked if she had a preferred opponent, and in another succinct response, she said, “Nicki.” The host replied, “I would love to see that,” to which Kim responded, “Yes, me too.”

This lines up with what Kim said in 2017, noting that she would collaborate with Minaj if the price is right. She said, “Some things just can’t be mended unless there’s, like, a different type of conversation. Some people take it too far, some people take it to a point where they try to really deliberately see you in the ground or they still hold on to ‘I’m right.’ A snake is a snake. I’m not gonna try to pick it up because it was being nice to me. […] It’s still a snake at the end of the day. For that situation, it would have to be a business conversation.”

As for the BET Awards, Kim was on hand to pay tribute to Queen Latifah, so check out that moment here.

Nicki Minaj Shared A Promising Update About Her Next Album And Previewed A Song With Future

Last month, Nicki Minaj made her grand return to the music world by uploading her 2009 mixtape, Beam Me Up Scotty, to streaming services. It featured most of the project’s original songs as well as three new additions that included “Seeing Green” with Drake and Lil Wayne as well as “Fractions.” While the release was certainly appreciated, her supporters’ true desire is a new album from the rapper as her last one, Queen, arrived back in 2018. As the wait continues for her upcoming fifth album, Nicki shared a promising update about it and previewed a new song that has fans very excited.

Speaking about her next album during an Instagram Live session, Nicki said, “This album will be definitely my best album thus far.” She also previewed a track titled “Big Barbie” that features a guest verse from Future and production from LondonOnDaTrack. According to Nicki, the song was supposed to appear on Queen, however, it was left off the album for reasons she did not share. In addition to previewing the track, she also teased something special for her supporters that would arrive soon.

“I got a surprise for y’all. Maybe you’ll find out in a few days,” she said, adding that she has a “major announcement to make.”

Shortly after she uploaded Beam Me Up Scotty to DSPs, Nicki joined Polo G on “For The Love Of New York” off his chart-topping album, Hall Of Fame.

Saweetie Names Her Favorite J. Cole And Nicki Minaj Songs

Saweetie is still aiming for a summertime release for her long-awaited debut album, Pretty B*tch Music, and continued her seemingly everlasting media tour with a cover story for Complex and an appearance on the outlet’s interview show GOAT Talk. In the latter, she named her favorite culinary concoctions (for which she’s garnered almost as much attention as her music), as well as her favorite songs from her prime influences, J. Cole and Nicki Minaj.

Long before she’d released her breakout single “ICY GRL” and become a household name, Saweetie rapped for J. Cole outside one of his shows, receiving a bit of encouragement from the older rapper. When asked which of his songs is his greatest of all time, Saweetie chose “Cost Me A Lot” from Cole’s 2010 mixtape Friday Night Lights. In the interview for the cover story, she’s asked whether she’d want to collaborate with her underground hero and replies in the affirmative… with one caveat. “On production, yes,” she says.

When it comes to her favorite Nicki Minaj song, Saweetie can’t settle on just one. “I feel like we have to go into two different libraries,” she argues. “There’s mixtape Nicki and mainstream Nicki… For mixtape Nicki, ‘Itty Bitty Piggy‘ [from 2009 mixtape Beam Me Up Scotty] is the obvious choice, but a song I just loved from the depths of my soul was [Lil Wayne-featuring 2008 Sucka Free cut] ‘Higher Than A Kite.’” Saweetie picks “I Wanna Be With You” from DJ Khaled’s 2013 album Suffering From Success because of the velocity Nicki’s flow reaches.
