A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie Is Ready To Settle Down On The Honest ‘Playa’ With HER

After going nearly all of 2021 without a project, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie arrived in the final month of 2021 with B4 AVA. The 7-track project featured one guest appearance, which was from Lil Durk through their “24 Hours” collaboration. That project arrived as the follow-up to his 2020 album Artist 2.0, and just a few months after the release of B4 AVA, A Boogie is back with a new song and it’s one that features HER beside him.

Together, A Boogie and HER unite for “Playa.” It’s a warm record that sees both acts navigating through the difficulties of a relationship. A Boogie commits to being serious about his lover, adding that he no longer wants to be a “playa.” In the song’s second verse, HER plays the role of A Boogie’s skeptical companion who doesn’t believe his words just yet. Instead, she’ll wait for his actions to prove that he’s truly serious about the relationship.

The track marks the second time that A Boogie and HER have worked together. The first time came in early 2020 through a performance of “Me And My Guitar” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The late-night appearance came after Artist 2.0 debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Leading up to the debut album, Mooski established himself as a viral sensation with over 475+ million views on TikTok and 42+ million global streams across all digital streaming platforms. The “Track Star” TikTok challenge inspired Keyshia Cole, Lala Anthony, Dream Doll, and Halle Berry. Additionally, Trey Songz and Jacquees both remixed it. Ahead of the new album, Mooski’s “Track Star” achieved platinum certification by the RIAA.

After releasing a series of new music videos for album songs “Be Strong,” “Soul Bleed,” and “Scuba Diving,” Mooski shares a 13-song debut that addresses unspoken issues in our culture through his personal experiences. We hear Mooski sing about the rollercoaster ride in love and heartbreak, social issues, mental health, and survivor’s remorse in the debut. As he bares his soul, the album’s soulful production amplifies the clarity in the messages the accomplished artist is eager to get across to fans, both new and old.

Outside of the a-list features and hit singles, the debut delivers a standout cut in “Counting Time,” which samples the R&B classic by Anthony Hamilton, “Charlene.” On the song, Mooski reminisces on a relationship that ran its course while pleading with his lover for a second chance. He sings, “Time (More time) / All she ever wanted was mine / Blinded by my greed, I failed to read all of the signs / Love is all she need, forget the Dior and the diamonds / Deep off in my mind / Thinking ’bout the thousand times / She said she would leave, but this time she wasn’t lyin’ / This time she was ready / And she didn’t regret it / She left our picture but she didn’t forget it (That’s how I know it’s over).”

The new certification was also met with even bigger news for the Bama Boy. Last week it was revealed that Mooski is expecting his first child, a son, arriving this April. Making the announcement on Instagram with a photo of him and his girlfriend holding up baby clothes that said “Lil Moo” with the caption, “All smiles knowing my son Ozzie is coming in April. Daddy waiting on you lil one #1stborn.”

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie Is All-In On Cryptocurrency, Saying He’ll Only Take Booking Fees In Ethereum

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie has always been somewhat of a maverick in the hip-hop game. When his album Hoodie SZN reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 while setting a record low for physical sales, he smartly spun the news with a progressive outlook that appears prescient in hindsight. Meanwhile, in an interview with Uproxx that year, A Boogie shared a number of surprising observations pointing to his willingness to defy expectations as a rapper and a businessman.

His latest future-thinking move will likewise undoubtedly raise some eyebrows, but if it pans out, he could look like a genius in a few years’ time. Hopping aboard the burgeoning blockchain movement, he declared he was hitching his wagon completely to cryptocurrency. “Only accepting Ethereum for shows now for those who been trying to book me,” he tweeted, informing anyone looking to put him on an event bill to invest in an online wallet. Technically, Ethereum is the name of the blockchain, while Ether (ETH) is the designation for its currency, but the point stands.

But while A Boogie is possibly the first rapper to limit his income in this particular way, he’s far from the first to invest in blockchain. That NFT craze you’ve been reading so much about is actually based on the technology, with everyone from Eminem to Steve Aoki joining the train (although Kanye remains skepticaldrawbacks to go with the benefits, but if A Boogie can navigate the potential pitfalls, his decision could prove lucrative in the long run.

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie And Capella Grey Share The Encouraging ‘Bestie’ Video

New York’s A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and Capella Grey link up to offer some encouraging words in their new video for “Bestie,” the latest single released from the upcoming Culture Jam project curated by NBA star Kawhi Leonard. The video pretty prominently features basketball as well, focusing on its lead’s efforts to improve on-court, then following her as Capella picks her up from the park for a ride home and as she invites A Boogie over for a romantic date by the piano.

The first volume of the project, Culture Jam Vol. 1, is due this Friday, October 22, after months of hype from Kawhi and his Culture Jam crew. The NBA player described his effort to combine his two loves, music and basketball, as “something that could uplift our community.” To that end he told reporters during a May presser, “A portion of each stream is gonna go to the Mamba & Mambacita [Sports] Foundation.”

Kawhi previously shared a pair of tracks from the project: “Everything Different” by Rod Wave and YoungBoy Never Broke Again and “Waves” by Gunna and Polo G. In addition the project will feature other standouts like Lil Uzi Vert, NLE Choppa, Ty Dolla Sign, Wale, and Yung Bleu. The inaugural Culture Jam Sports And Music Festival is planned for November 21 at The Shrine in Los Angles featuring performances from Bluebucksclan, Cordae, and others. It will also stream live on Amazon Music’s Twitch channel.
