Young M.A. Details Sobriety, Her Health, And New Music

Little more than a month ago, New York rapper Young M.A. admitted to her fans that she recently spent some time in the hospital following a health scare. Though she’s mostly kept details under wraps, the 31-year-old confirmed that she’s been feeling better than ever lately, and recent photos reflect that her appearance is matching her energy. On Easter Sunday (April 7), M.A. took to her Instagram Story to offer more information to followers, offering an explanation as to why she’s “been low-key” as of late.

“Long story short, basically, it’s a small setback,” the “Tip The Surgeon” hitmaker optimistically noted. “Unfortunately, I made. a lot of wrong decisions in my life. You know, [they’re] starting to catch up with [me]. So, I just want y’all to know, besides all that I’m actually doing much better,” she explained, alleviating the concern of many nervous fans. “I’ve been getting well. I’ve been very much sober. I don’t want to specifically go into detail. Because I really want to bring y’all on my journey.”

Young M.A. Updates Fans on Her Life

While focusing on her health is certainly a number one priority for now, Young M.A. also promised that she’s got more heat on the way. “I’m dropping some new music of course,” the Herstory artist happily revealed. “Imma also have a documentary with my story. Imma keep y’all in tune, catch y’all back up. Because I know y’all been wondering.” She assured those watching that she’s simply mysterious by nature, and is usually the type to “keep [her] personal problems to [herself].”

“But now it’s time to expand that and express that to y’all,” she said near the end of her post. “It’s gon’ be one of those M.A. summers, I promise you,” the recent birthday girl declared in a follow-up Story. Concern for Young M.A. first began circulating online last month, after a video shared by the lyricist’s barber showed her looking rougher than usual after apparently not having her hair cut for some time. Young M.A.’s 31st Birthday Was Spent Living Lavish On A Yacht: “Just Blessed To Be Blessed”

Last month, many of Young M.A.’s fans expressed concern after videos and photos of her looking unwell surfaced online. In wake of gossip about her circulating online, the rapper admitted last month that she’s been struggling with her health, and was hospitalized for some time. “As many of my supporters know I’ve been dealing with various personal health issues the last few years. I recently was hospitalized and was successfully treated for several conditions,” she told followers at the time.

“I’m doing better now. Will take some time but I’m on the road to recovery and look forward to the future!!!” the 31-year-old added. “Rest assured I’m in good spirits and everything will be explained in the MUSIC … plus a documentary. Love y’all MAB! Don’t worry I’m good!” On Monday (April 3), Young M.A. popped out on social media once again, this time flexing her luxurious birthday celebrations that recently took place. Young M.A. Celebrates 31 Years of Life

“Just blessed to be blessed 🙏🏼 31 years on this earth… Been grateful and still grateful! Happy bday to a Kween! ♈🐏,” she wrote in the caption of Monday’s (April 3) first photo dump. Throughout that post, and other videos shared on her feed, fans were able to vicariously enjoy M.A.’s celebrations alongside her. To commemorate another trip around the Sun, she slurped oysters, drank piña coladas, sang along to some of her favourite songs, and posed alongside plenty of baddies hanging out on her boat. “If she ain’t bad, she ain’t next to me,” the “Tip The Surgeon” hitmaker noted in one clip with an anonymous curly-haired woman.

The day after her party, Young M.A. continued to relive it by sharing yet another video on IG. “That’s what I’m grateful for, anything and everything,” she wrote alongside the video, which markedly showed off her lavish mansion, flashy jewelry, designer luggage, and Rolls Royce whip. Young MA Revealed A Recent Hospitalization In Response To Fan Concern Over Her Appearance At A Barber

This week, a video of Young MA at the barbershop generated widespread concern for her health. The 23-second video (as shared by TMZ) featured the rapper seemingly slurring her speech, while her eyes appeared yellowed.

Young MA addressed the speculation over her health in a statement on Wednesday, March 15. She exclusively provided her statement to TMZ before posting it directly to her fans on Instagram:

“As many of my supporters know I’ve been dealing with various personal health issues the last few years. I recently was hospitalized and was successfully treated for several conditions. I’m doing better now, will take some time but I’m on the road to recovery and look forward to the future. I’m in good spirits and everything will be explained in the MUSIC! Plus [a] documentary.. Love y’all MAB! Don’t worry I’m good! Bless up [prayer-hands emoji].”

The statement is currently the only post on Young MA’s Instagram feed.

TMZ noted that Young MA “wouldn’t disclose specifics on exactly what she’s been battling,” and it makes all the sense in the world that she’d prefer to take her time and process it all through music.

Whenever Young MA decides to share the music she’s working on, it will be welcomed. The Brooklyn artist last dropped Off The Yak in May 2021.

Young M.A. Reveals She Was Hospitalized Recently For Several Conditions

Young M.A. has been noticeably out of the spotlight in recent times. The rapper released her last project, Off The Yak in 2021 with only a few offerings throughout the past year. Songs like “Tip The Surgeon” and “Aye Day Pay Day” made waves. Still, she hasn’t necessarily been in the limelight throughout this time. Needless to say, fans have missed her presence in hip-hop heavily as they hoped she would make a grand return sometime in the near future. Still, she hasn’t provided much of an update on new music recently.

Earlier this week, a video of Young M.A. in a barber chair surfaced on Instagram but the response largely consisted of concern for her well-being. The blowback landed on her barber, who her fans felt set her up to be ridiculed online. “Y’all got so much to say as if I’m trying to embarrass my dawg,” the barber wrote. “She reposted my video if she didn’t want me to record she would have told me… What y’all need to do is just send your prayers for her and that’s that. She didn’t have a haircut in a month and she wanted me to bring her haircut back to life which I did!!!!!”

M.A. later showed her support for her barber in the midst of backlash from Internet trolls. “We blessed don’t let that get to u blooda,” she said. “And I told you it was like 4 month.” However, it turns out that the concerns that fans had for her were rooted in real health conditions. M.A. spoke to TMZ where she explained that she was recently hospitalized for several conditions, though she received the right treatment.

“As many of my supporters know I’ve been dealing with various personal health issues the last few years. I recently was hospitalized and was successfully treated for several conditions. I’m doing better now, will take some time but I’m on the road to recovery and look forward to the future!!!” She said. “Rest assured I’m in good spirits and everything will be explained in the MUSIC … plus a documentary. Love y’all MAB! Don’t worry I’m good!” We’re looking forward to hearing what she has up her sleeve next.
