Kanye West Says He Relates To London: “I Lost My Queen Too”

Kanye West remarked that he understands how the people of London feel after losing a “Queen” of hisown on Instagram, Sunday night. West appears to have been referencing his own split from his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, and comparing her to the late Queen of England, Elizabeth II.

“London I know how you feel,” West wrote over a black screen.” I lost my Queen too.”

Elizabeth passed away at Balmoral Castle on September 9 after being placed under medical supervision. Her state funeral was held at Westminster Abbey on September 19, 2022.

At the time of her death, West reacted to the news on Instagram: “Life is precious. Releasing all grudges today. Leaning into the light.”

West’s new post seemingly referencing Kim Kardashian comes just days after he apologized to her for his recent behavior during an appearance on Good Morning America.

“This is the mother of my children, and I apologize for any stress that I have caused, even in my frustration because God calls me to be stronger,” West told ABC. “But also, ain’t nobody else needs to be causing no stress either. I need this person to be least stressed and at best sound mind and as calm as possible to be able to raise those children.”

West and Kardashian split back in February 2021, but the Donda rapper has remained adamant about getting back together with the mother of his children in the time since.

Kid Capri has joined the long list of rappers to criticize DJ Akademiks for his recent comments on the pioneers of hip-hop, who he referred to as “dusty.” Capri also called out Funk Flex for associating with Akademiks in the past in a post on Instagram.

Spice 1 Calls Out DJ Akademiks Over Disrespectful Comments

Spice 1 voiced his frustration with DJ Akademiks in response to his comments on old rappers being “dusty.” Speaking with Art of Dialogue, Spice could be seen visibly upset while venting about the lack of respect for veterans of hip-hop.

When asked who his favorite new artists are, Spice went in: “After the disrespect to us as OGs, it’s hard to listen to n***a like that, to any of these motherfuckers. My heart was put into this rap shit and for a motherfucker to disrespect the game and us as far as what we started, it’s hard for me to even listen to any motherfuckers trying to come up ’cause I know I’m going to hear them say something about us, some funny ass shit, about how much money we don’t have.”

From there, he brought out the recent drama with Akademiks: “Like that Akademiks bullshit. I gotta keep on that shit over and over again ’cause I can’t understand why a motherfucker would disrespect OGs like that and then people will sit there and let him do it. Somebody needs to slap the shit out that n***a. Slap this n***a. What the fuck you is you talkin’ bout? You wouldn’t know shit — if we didn’t lose, you n****s wouldn’t be winning. Period.”

He added: “For a motherfucker to sit up there and talk about how broke a n***a is or what he don’t got and how much money they do got…you need to get the shit slapped out of your ass.”

Spice is far from the first person to take issue with Akademiks as of late. Michael Rapaport, T.I., LL Cool J, and more have all called out the YouTuber. Akademiks had been speaking about NBA YoungBoy on his Twitch stream when he remarked that old rappers are “dusty.”

Dr. Dre Admits He Was “Extremely Nervous” At Super Bowl Halftime Show

Following the announcement that Rihanna will headline the NFL’s 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show, Dr. Dre spoke with Apple Music’s Ebro Darden on Sunday about his experience putting together last year’s event.

“It made me extremely nervous,” he said. “I don’t know if I’ve ever been that nervous before. Not only that, I don’t know if I’ve ever looked more forward to a Monday morning. So it’s the preparation and making sure you have the right people around you. All of these people came through for me, and everybody was extremely enthusiastic about the show. We had a good time, although it’s a lot of things and a lot of people you have to depend on.”

He elaborated: “You’re talking about at least 3,000 people that you have to depend on to get this show right for 13 minutes. So it is an extreme amount of pressure, but it’s fun at the same time. When it’s done, it’s like goosebumps, bro. I got goosebumps, especially from the reaction that we got from the show, and especially being able to do the show with all of my friends.”

In addition to Dre, the halftime show featured Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, and Mary J. Blige. The group was eventually honored with a Creative Arts Emmy for the performance.

Dre also reacted to the news that Rihanna has been selected as next year’s performer.

“Oh, my God,” he said. “Let me tell you something, man. I actually just got the news that Rihanna’s going to do it, and I’m a super fan of Rihanna. I can’t wait to see what she’s going to do. I just like her and what she does, and her get down, and how she approaches her artistry and the whole nine. It’s fantastic. She has the opportunity to really blow us away. I know we set the bar extremely high.”

While police did not confirm whether he was being arrested for the Rockstar breach specifically, a source familiar with the incident for The Desk reported this to be the case.

“The City of London Police arrested a 17-year-old in Oxfordshire on Thursday (September 22) on suspicion of hacking, as part of an investigation supported by the National Crime Agency’s National Cyber Crime Unit. He has been charged in connection with this investigation and remains in police custody,” the City of London Police confirmed in a statement. “The teenager has been charged with two counts of breach of bail conditions and two counts of computer misuse.”

The Rockstar breach resulted in 90 video files being made available online showcasing early development footage of the next GTA game. It is considered one of the biggest leaks in video game history.

The company confirmed the leaked videos to be legit soon afterward.

“We recently suffered a network intrusion,” Rockstar Games said in an official statement via Twitter afterward. “An unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems, including early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto.”

Constance Wu Says She Was Sexually Harassed By “Fresh Off The Boat” Producer

Constance Wu says that she was the victim of sexual harassment by a producer on ABC’s sitcom, Fresh Off the Boat, in her new memoir, Making a Scene. Wu was a star in the series during its run from 2015 to 2020.

“‘Fresh Off the Boat’ was my first-ever TV show,” Wu explained to the New York Times. “I was thrown into this world. I don’t have parents in the industry. And because I was 30, people thought I knew what I was doing. It made me paranoid and embarrassed.”

Wu says that she attended a sporting event with the producer where he “placed his hand on her thigh, his hand ultimately grazing her crotch,” as noted by the Times. Wu also accused the unnamed producer of controlling behavior such as “demanding that she run all her business matters past him and telling her what to wear.”

Wu explained why she decided to make the incidents public during a panel at Friday’s Atlantic Festival in Washington, D.C.

“I kept my mouth shut for a really long time about a lot of sexual harassment and intimidation that I received the first two seasons of the show. Because, after the first two seasons, once it was a success, once I was no longer scared of losing my job, that’s when I was able to start saying ‘no’ to the harassment, ‘no’ to the intimidation, from this particular producer,” she said, according to Variety.

She added: “And, so I thought, ‘You know what? I handled it, nobody has to know, I don’t have to stain this Asian American producer’s reputation, I don’t have to stain the reputation of the show.’”

Making a Scene is available on October 4.

Positive K Says Def Jam President Lyor Cohen Nearly Passed On Signing Redman

Positive K says that he’s the reason Lyor Cohen signed Redman to Def Jam back in the 1990s. Speaking with HipHopDX for a recent interview, Positive K recalled how the rapper ended up on the label.

“I’m the one who got Redman signed and you can talk to Redman about that,” Positive K told the outlet. “Lyor wasn’t going to sign Redman. Erick Sermon got me on the phone with Lyor Cohen and said, ‘Yo, tell him about Redman.’ I said, ‘Lyor, if you have any brains in your head, you’re signing this guy.’ I rolled a blunt, played the demo and I was riding it around and I was the one who was messing with Lyor Cohen and Erick Sermon with that.”

He continued: “I spoke to Redman. He was at MC Lyte’s house. They were going over some scripts and I spoke to him. He said, ‘I remember. I remember.’ Redman knows what time it is. I’m the muscle man.”

Positive K went on to say he played a role in the signing of Method Man as well.

Cohen has previously credited Redman with saving the now-iconic record label.

Positive K is best known for his 1989 collaboration with MC Lyte “I’m Not Havin’ It” and the 1992 hit “I Got A Man,” as well as having toured with Jay-Z. He recently shared a new single out titled “Nobody” and is touring the U.S. for his comedy routine.

Nelly Says Country Singers Are Better Athletes Than Rappers

Nelly says that country singers are the best athletes in entertainment, even better than hip-hop artists. Speaking on the topic in a recent reel uploaded to Instagram, Nelly explained that he and a group of friends had debated the topic the previous night.

“We had a long ass debate last night on who had the best athletes in entertainment,” he began. “A large majority of everybody was yelling Hip Hop had the best athletes. So I was saying, I can see that but listen, since I been bridging the gap, running with these country boys, I noticed that it’s some athletes over here. And they ain’t bullshittin’; they can hold they own. I bet I can round up a bunch of country brothas to hoop that … it ain’t gon’ be no walk in the park.”

He continued: “So I’m tellin’ right now, any of you Hip Hop rap artists right now … get that bag of course … run it up! Get any Hip Hop or rap artist you want and let’s line up this game and I’ma get these country brothas.”

As for which rappers could participate in a hypothetical country versus hip-hop basketball game, Quavo, 2 Chainz, J. Cole, and many more have shown their talents on the court in the past, with the latter even gracing the upcoming cover of NBA 2K23.

NLE Choppa, Roddy Ricch, Nardo Wick, 21 Savage, Babyface Ray, G Herbo, Waka Flocka, and more are also expected to participate in The Crew League, later this year.
