Eminem Celebrates 16 Years Of Sobriety

Eminem celebrated 16 years of sobriety in a post on Instagram, on Saturday, by sharing a coin marking the number of years it’s been. While he didn’t provide any context in the caption, the coin has the number 16 on it. The legendary rapper famously suffered an overdose in 2007 that nearly cost him his life. He’s been sober since.

Paul Rosenberg, John Mayer, and many more voices congratulated him on his sobriety journey in the comments section. One fan wrote: “Well done and thanks for sharing the journey with us.” Another added: “Congratulations and thanks for sharing, especially to the ones who are trying to get through Day 1.”

Eminem previously reflected on his sobriety journey during a candid op-ed for XXL back in 2022. “Drugs became a part of the way I was living my life once I got signed,” he wrote at the time. “When I first came out to L.A., me and some guys I was hanging out with used to go to Tijuana and we would buy drugs. Vicodin and that kinda sh*t. I don’t know how many times we did it, but it was so easy to go back and forth to do it. The last time we went, we’re second in line and this dude in front of us starts arguing with the guy in Customs, and they f*ckin’ throw him down on the ground and start pulling pills out his pockets and sh*t. We were scared shitless, but we got through.” He explained that, had he been arrested, he “would’ve been done right then.”

Matthew Perry Was Sober Ahead Of His Death, Late Actor’s Friend Claims

Matthew Perry, American-Canadian actor celebrated for his work on Friends, passed away unexpectedly at his LA home last week. He was found unresponsive in his hot tub at the age of 54 after an apparent drowning. The beloved actor’s untimely death sparked quite a bit of speculation, with rumors floating around that he could have been under the influence ahead of the incident. He’d been open about struggling with substance abuse in the past, later detailing his journey to recovery in his 2022 memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing.

Now, a friend of Perry’s who had seen him just one day before his passing has spoken out in his defense, shutting down rumors that he had relapsed. Athenna Crosby Recounts Final Moments With Matthew Perry

“I mean, I can’t know what exactly he was thinking or feeling. I can only share my experience. And, of course, he was his own person that maybe he had said, done or thought of things the day that he passed that I might never come to know,” she explained. “I am now recalling all of the details about it just because the situation has been so tragic. And I’ve been kind of thinking like, ‘OK, was there anything that I, I guess, should have noticed or was there anything that stuck out to me?’ And honestly, no, there wasn’t,” she described. “He was so normal. He ordered a cheeseburger and had a Diet Coke and really just a normal day like any other day.”

In a subsequent Instagram post, Crosby revealed that she didn’t want to speak out initially, but chose to once it came out that they had grabbed lunch together right before the incident. “Know that man was on a comeback and truly deserved more time on this earth,” she added. “Our entertainment industry has truly lost a legend. RIP.” What do you think of Matthew Perry’s friend coming to his defense amid rumors that he relapsed ahead of his death? Lil Yachty & Lucki Discuss Sobriety And Their Substance Abuse Struggles On “A Safe Place”

Attempting sobriety is hard enough as is, but for those who work or play in environments where substances are readily available, abstaining can feel anything but easy. Time and time again we’ve seen recording artists and entertainers fall victim to the demons of substance abuse, but thankfully, a growing number are choosing to distance themselves from alcohol and drugs. On the latest episode of A Safe Place, hosts Lil Yachty and Mitch discussed this with their guest, Lucki, who confirmed that he’s been clean from some drugs for several months now, though there are still others he’s hoping to conquer.

“I thought I’d never stop popping pills, but I stopped popping pills,” the 27-year-old reflected during their interview. “But lean, though? Pills don’t taste good, lean taste good,” Lucki added, earning a laugh from his friends. “You know I’m 10 months clean?” Yachty asked, surprising some viewers who were under the impression he’s always been sober. “That’s what I’m saying!” the Chicago native congratulated him before confirming he hasn’t popped any pills in eight months.

“We used to be [wild], gang,” Lucki noted as the trio reflected on times when he would take up to 10 pills in one day. “You gotta do a lot of s**t to forget a lot of s**t,” the lyricist explained the mentality of him and others who indulge in drug use. “In Chicago, ni**as was real trauma zombies,” he told Mitch and Yachty, noting that being exposed to other cities helped him realize that his behaviour wasn’t exactly normal.

Joseline Hernandez Speaks Out About Her Sobriety

Joseline Hernandez’s career has had its various ups and downs. People who follow her career know that the TV star and rapper can be in the public eye for all the wrong reasons. Whether that be getting involved in different beef with other celebrities, being tied up in legal issues, or her controversial statements and opinions, Hernandez’s choices are always going to get people talking. I don’t know if I was always so scared to do without it because it was like my shield, but it’s like, I feel so much better without it.”

One writes, “The Powderican Princess will strike again soon…” Another says, “My girl go sober for a week and be like IM CLEAN ! I be the same way with the liquor tho Lmfao.” In addition, some were saying Hernandez was pregnant, but she proves those claims to be false showing off her stomach in the clip.

The performer went to rehab earlier this year, and has since developed a new outlook on both life and death. Brown says that he used to be afraid of dying, but no longer fears it. He described coming to peace with the idea of dying now that he’s sober, claiming that the inevitable will happen at the right time.

“I was scared of this sh*t,” he told the outlet. “Now, I just look at it like, ‘Man, when it’s the time, it’s the time.’ It’s almost like life is a school, and when you die, it’s graduation. Brown got out of rehab back in May, taking to his his podcast, The Danny Brown Show, to share his experience. “I will say, man, being in treatment and all that sh*t, one thing it did do, it humbled the f*ck out of me,” the artist explained. “Like a lot of these muthaf*ckas, man, that’s in there, you know, they had drinking problems, drug problems and all that sh*t, they got to go back to work. They gotta go and work a real regular 9-to-5 job, like, you know, I have one of the best jobs in the f**king world, man. And so, I was taking a lot of s**t for granted, man. So I will say, man, like, I’m back. Your boy is back.”

Fans are glad to see that Brown is feeling back to his old self again now that he’s sober. He seems to be in a much better place after going to rehab, taking on a more positive, focused perspective. Keep an eye on HNHH for more updates on Danny Brown.

DJ Drama Reflects On Watching Lil Uzi Vert Get Sober

DJ Drama says that watching Lil Uzi Vert get sober ahead of the release of The Pink Tape was an “eye-opening” experience. The producer discussed Uzi’s drug use during a new interview with XXL for the publication’s Spring 2023 issue.

“We did have some conversations about that. Me, [Don] Cannon, Lake, and Vert, about that personal journey,” he explained to the outlet. “Obviously, it’s not something outta respect for him I would want to share the insight on how he feels or what it was like for him, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s something that he touches on on the project.”

Drama added: “I’m super proud of him and I’m sure that for him, being able to approach the music from that aspect was eye-opening and something different, something that a mature Uzi, who’s at a different stage in his life and his career, is able to accomplish.”

Uzi first revealed their sobriety during an interview with TMZ back in March. “It was challenging at first. But then after probably after a month, I got used to it,” Uzi explained at the time. “I thought that my creative process wasn’t going to be the same because I wasn’t on drugs no more. It was the same. Even better. Because I could think more clear and I could actually, like, instead of my words slurring, which is kinda cool, everything made sense.” “I didn’t just make random music,” he continued. “How can I say? I didn’t play off the beat. I actually made [a] song with topics this time.”

There is still no official release date for The Pink Tape; however, Uzi has been teasing it since the end of 2020. It will be his first full-length project since Eternal Atake. He also dropped an EP, Red & White, last year.

Famous Dex Reflects On Newfound Health

Famous Dex has had his fair share of bumps in the road throughout his career. Despite that, Dex has chosen to come back stronger and beat his addictions. Not to mention his run-ins with the law. From gun charges, and violating restraining orders, to even serving some jail time, it’s been a long road for Famous Dex. However, since then, Dex has proven he is bigger than his demons. Following his release from rehab, after being released from jail, he’s shown great progress with his sobriety.

Famous Dex has been busy post-rehab. Not only has he been working on new music, but he also inked a new deal with his label 300 Entertainment for a whopping $5.6 million. Nevertheless, Dexter has been putting in the work with his sobriety, and his music. He recently posted a snippet on his Instagram of a single that attracted much attention from his fans. In his caption, it reads, “3k comments and I’ll drop it now on God!!” The post racked up thousands of comments. Many of his supporters expressed excitement and happiness to hear new music from the Chicago native.

Famous Dex Is Healthy and Happy

While Dex may not have dropped the full snippet, as promised, fans still have new music to be excited for. Upon his release from rehab, Famous Dex announced that he was working on the next installment of the highly acclaimed album series Rich Forever. The “Japan” rapper made note of the workings of Rich Forever Five after being 11 months sober. He, Jay Critch, and Rich The Kid make magic on a track together. It’s exciting to see Famous Dex back on track making music again.

Recently, Dexter took to Instagram to reflect on his newfound health. He posted on his story with a caption that read, “Feels good to be happy an[d] healthy I can’t lie.” It appears Famous Dex is enjoying his sobriety and healthy living. Health is wealth at the end of the day. Many of his fans expressed their support for Dex, with hopes that he can continue on this path of health and wellness. Along with that, fans hope to hear new music (hopefully that snippet) from Famous Dex soon.

Famous Dex Celebrates 11 Months of Sobriety

Famous Dex has reached a major health milestone. Dex has captivated audiences for years. Moreover, his skill as an artist was evident right out of the gate. Indeed, Dex’s debut album peaked at number 12 on the Billboard 200. Dex Meets Dexter featured such standouts as “Pick it Up” and “Japan.” However, despite his talent, Dex’s career has been hampered by substance abuse issues. The rapper has been open about his struggles with addiction over the years. Subsequently, several rehab attempts failed. His latest stint in rehab was last September. It followed a jail sentence for violating a protective order his girlfriend got against him.

TMZ Hip Hop recently caught up with Dex at LAX. Initially, the reporter credited Dex on his appearance compared to the last time the pair saw each other. Dex responded to the compliment with a major update on his health. “I’m not doing drugs no more,” the rapper confidently stated. “I’ve been drug clean for 11 months.” Addiction can take a toll on both the body and the mind. However, Dex’s improvement in health has clearly done wonders for him mentally. During the interview, Dex removed his sunglasses to reveal his eyes. “I’m happy and I’m healthy,” he said.

Famous Dex Shares Inspiring Words For Those Struggling With Addiction

Moreover, Dex’s recovery can be seen as an inspiration to anyone struggling with the same issues. Subsequently, Dex had a message for anyone thinking about giving up. “Keep God first, and don’t forget where you come from.” he said. “We might give up, but God don’t.” The rapper’s final piece of advice was simply to “stay humble.” Meanwhile, these are also exciting times for the Chicago native in terms of music. Dex recently took to Instagram to announce he had signed a new $5.6 million dollar deal with 300 records. The rapper had already been signed to the label before. However, the new deal is possibly the result of renegotiations.

Elsewhere, Dex teamed up with Rich the Kid and Jay Critch on the single “Where’s Dexter” earlier this year. It appears that Dex may finally be putting his issues behind him. Moreover, his fans will be hoping the rapper can stay healthy so he can put out more bangers in the future.

Young M.A. Details Sobriety, Her Health, And New Music

Little more than a month ago, New York rapper Young M.A. admitted to her fans that she recently spent some time in the hospital following a health scare. Though she’s mostly kept details under wraps, the 31-year-old confirmed that she’s been feeling better than ever lately, and recent photos reflect that her appearance is matching her energy. On Easter Sunday (April 7), M.A. took to her Instagram Story to offer more information to followers, offering an explanation as to why she’s “been low-key” as of late.

“Long story short, basically, it’s a small setback,” the “Tip The Surgeon” hitmaker optimistically noted. “Unfortunately, I made. a lot of wrong decisions in my life. You know, [they’re] starting to catch up with [me]. So, I just want y’all to know, besides all that I’m actually doing much better,” she explained, alleviating the concern of many nervous fans. “I’ve been getting well. I’ve been very much sober. I don’t want to specifically go into detail. Because I really want to bring y’all on my journey.”

Young M.A. Updates Fans on Her Life

While focusing on her health is certainly a number one priority for now, Young M.A. also promised that she’s got more heat on the way. “I’m dropping some new music of course,” the Herstory artist happily revealed. “Imma also have a documentary with my story. Imma keep y’all in tune, catch y’all back up. Because I know y’all been wondering.” She assured those watching that she’s simply mysterious by nature, and is usually the type to “keep [her] personal problems to [herself].”

“But now it’s time to expand that and express that to y’all,” she said near the end of her post. “It’s gon’ be one of those M.A. summers, I promise you,” the recent birthday girl declared in a follow-up Story. Concern for Young M.A. first began circulating online last month, after a video shared by the lyricist’s barber showed her looking rougher than usual after apparently not having her hair cut for some time. Read more about that here, and check back later for any updates on the star’s forthcoming music and documentary releases.
