Young M.A. Details Sobriety, Her Health, And New Music

Little more than a month ago, New York rapper Young M.A. admitted to her fans that she recently spent some time in the hospital following a health scare. Though she’s mostly kept details under wraps, the 31-year-old confirmed that she’s been feeling better than ever lately, and recent photos reflect that her appearance is matching her energy. On Easter Sunday (April 7), M.A. took to her Instagram Story to offer more information to followers, offering an explanation as to why she’s “been low-key” as of late.

“Long story short, basically, it’s a small setback,” the “Tip The Surgeon” hitmaker optimistically noted. “Unfortunately, I made. a lot of wrong decisions in my life. You know, [they’re] starting to catch up with [me]. So, I just want y’all to know, besides all that I’m actually doing much better,” she explained, alleviating the concern of many nervous fans. “I’ve been getting well. I’ve been very much sober. I don’t want to specifically go into detail. Because I really want to bring y’all on my journey.”

Young M.A. Updates Fans on Her Life

While focusing on her health is certainly a number one priority for now, Young M.A. also promised that she’s got more heat on the way. “I’m dropping some new music of course,” the Herstory artist happily revealed. “Imma also have a documentary with my story. Imma keep y’all in tune, catch y’all back up. Because I know y’all been wondering.” She assured those watching that she’s simply mysterious by nature, and is usually the type to “keep [her] personal problems to [herself].”

“But now it’s time to expand that and express that to y’all,” she said near the end of her post. “It’s gon’ be one of those M.A. summers, I promise you,” the recent birthday girl declared in a follow-up Story. Concern for Young M.A. first began circulating online last month, after a video shared by the lyricist’s barber showed her looking rougher than usual after apparently not having her hair cut for some time. Read more about that here, and check back later for any updates on the star’s forthcoming music and documentary releases.

Lil Uzi Vert Says Sobriety’s Helped His Creative Process

At one point in time, Lil Uzi Vert’s drug use became a concern for their fans. Not necessarily due to their behavior online or on stage but simply because we began witnessing plenty of rappers die from overdosing. Following Lil Peep’s death, Uzi said that they would no longer be consuming drugs. By last summer, the “Just Wanna Rock” rapper said they have been completely sober. It’s a complete 180 from the times when they rapped about the endless use of opioids.

It seems as though they might prefer sobriety these days. TMZ recently caught up with the Philadelphia rapper who explained that they unlocked new levels of creativity by abstaining from drug use, even though they initially felt sobriety would have the opposite effect. “I thought that my creative process wasn’t gonna be the same because I wasn’t on drugs no more,” he said. He explained that he’s able to “think more clearly,” which will likely have an effect on his upcoming album Pink Tape.

Lil Uzi Vert Encourages Sobriety

The rapper explained that their recent visits to the studio have found them in an even more focused space. “It made sense,” Uzi said of the decision to go drug-free. They added that they aren’t necessarily throwing sh*t on the wall to see what sticks. Instead, he’s exploring different themes and topics more thoroughly. “It wasn’t like I just made random music,” he continued. “I didn’t just play off the beat. I actually made songs with topics this time.” He encouraged his peers to consider doing the same, stating, “It can change your life.”

Lil Uzi Vert’s latest comments come shortly after he clarified his lyric about his City Girl partner, JT. Following his controversial lyric from his Rolling Loud performance, he explained that he doesn’t actually believe in Satan. “Basically, I make a girl do whatever I say so,” he said. Instead, Uzi said that they were simply practicing their right to freedom of speech, though the intentions were never to offend anyone. “If they don’t like it, they have the option to turn it off,” he said. Afterward, he confirmed that Pink Tape would arrive in the next two months.

Cara Delevingne Gets Real About Addiction: “There’s An Element Of Feeling Invisible”

It’s a season of healing for Cara Delevingne. In recent months, the model has been at the center of concerns after disturbing images surfaced online and reports about her strange behavior took over social media. Those “sources” were popping up from one outlet to another to offer anonymous insight into what was going on behind the scenes. This week, Delevingne’s Vogue cover feature was released, and inside, she speaks openly about her road to recovery.

At the time of her interview, the model was approximately four months sober. “If you have problems going into this industry, they will only get magnified and exacerbated. There is nothing about it that makes it better,” she said. In September, Delevingne was photographed at a Los Angeles airport looking disheveled. She now offers an explanation.

Cara Delevingne’s Addictions Go Back To Adolescence

“I hadn’t slept. I was not okay. It’s heartbreaking because I thought I was having fun, but at some point it was like, Okay, I don’t look well.” Delevingne added those photos were taken when she had just arrived back home from Burning Man. “You know, sometimes you need a reality check, so in a way those pictures were something to be grateful for.”

She further admits that her struggles began when she was just a teen. “I was happy as a kid for sure, but I think when I grew up, I looked back and realized, That’s not normal,” said Delevingne. “And then as a teenager, it just all came plummeting down. That’s also when I started drinking and partying. There was this need to escape and change my reality as I was hit with just huge questions: What am I doing here? Who am I trying to be?”

A History Of Addiction

After being diagnosed with dyspraxia, Delevingne was placed on several medications. At 15, she suffered a breakdown, but she told Vogue the medications helped save her. Delevingne’s mother also struggled with addiction, and she’s hoping to stop the cycle. “There’s an element of feeling invincible when I’m on drugs. I put myself in danger in those moments because I don’t care about my life.” She revisited that time at Burning Man. “I would climb anything and jump off stuff…it felt feral. It’s a scary thing to the people around you who love you.”
