Rico Wade’s Death: Funeral Service Details Revealed

Rico Wade’s family has confirmed the funeral service arrangements for the late rapper following his tragic passing at the age of 52, earlier this month. He will be eulogized in a private funeral for family and close friends on Friday at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. While the event itself is private, the family has invited the media to attend to cover the arrivals of attendees. They are still planning a larger celebration of life event in the coming weeks.

While a cause of death has yet to be made official, prior to his passing, Wade had been dealing with health issues, including getting a heart valve repair. He discussed the situation during an interview with AllHipHop back in March. “My heart had ruptured a valve and it was dripping, and they just rerouted it,” he told the outlet. “I have heart conditions on my father’s side.”

Wade’s Organized Noize collaborators, Sleepy Brown and Ray Murray, addressed his death in a statement, earlier this month. “We are devastated by the news of the passing of our dear brother Rico Wade. The world has lost one of the most innovative architects in music, and we have lost an invaluable friend,” they wrote. “Rico was the cornerstone of Organized Noize and the Dungeon Family, and we will forever treasure his memory and the moments we shared, creating music as a united team. Our hearts weigh heavy with sorrow, and we kindly request privacy and empathy during this challenging period. Rico’s presence will always have a special spot in our hearts, and in the music we presented to the world.”

Bas Pens Heartfelt Tribute To His Late Mother: “Rest Easy Now”

Bas has always been a transparent artist. Part of his appeal lies in his ability to take difficult experiences and emotions and condense them down to catchy, relatable songs. It’s an ability he shares with his label boss J. Cole. Those who question Bas’ remarkable poise need look no further than the Instagram post he made on April 23. The rapper announced that his mother had passed away, and he expressed his love for her in a bittersweet remembrance.

The loss of a parent is never easy, but Bas chose to emphasize the positives that his mother’s death wrought for both him and his siblings. “I no longer fear death for when my time comes, I know I’ll be reunited with you,” the rapper wrote. “Thank you for the gift of my siblings and the love you and Baba displayed for us. So many people the world over have felt your warmth and can testify to the love you emit.” Bas, who posted a photo of him and his mother at the Grammy Awards, promised to keep living the way she would have wanted. “We will carry that legacy,” he added. “You’ve made us so proud.”

Bas was born to Sudanese parents, and he credits them with exposing him to different kinds of art growing up. “My parents would let me hear some Sudanese music,” he told The Grio in 2014. “Pretty much anything when I was growing up.” This musical influence would manifest in the rapper’s 2018 breakout album, Milky Way. He also chronicled the difficulty of living in war-torn Sudan in the music video for the 2023 single “Khartoum.”

Bas is widely-liked within the hip-hop world, so it was no surprise to see rappers voicing their support in the comment section of his post. Cozz and Omen, two of Bas’ Dreamville label mates, expressed similar sentiments regarding mourning. “May God bless you and the family with strength and guidance during this time,” the latter wrote. “The form may transition but the love is forever.” Smino, Denzel Curry and Saba also took the time out to pay respect to the rapper’s mother. Bas’ last album, the ominously titled We Only Talk About Real Sh*t When We’re F*cked Up, was released in December 2023. The rapper was last heard on the track “H.Y.B.” from J. Cole’s mixtape Might Delete Later.

Several more artists have paid tribute to Chris King in the days since his death over the weekend. Justin Bieber, Machine Gun Kelly, and more have now posted on social media about the late rapper. He was gunned down in an apparent robbery attempt outside of a music studio in Nashville on Saturday.

“Love you bro. This one hurts,” Bieber wrote on his Instagram Story. “Please keep his family in your prayers. See you in paradise brother.” Just last December, King revealed in an Instagram post that he and the singer for roommates for a period of time.

Keke Palmer also came forward with a story about her friendship with King on Instagram. She shared a picture of the two of them on iChat with one another from many years ago. “Chris King! I wish I had more photos but it’s actually perfect because this is exactly how it began,” she captioned the post. “ iChat sessions with you and Marcel back in the 2Much days. Wow. I can’t believe I’m saying rest in peace. This is terrible. I really don’t know what to say. I just want to share that I loved you and I remember all the city walk, grove moments. That was my high school. When we were babies before everyone knew you was a real rockstar. We were kids! And you always knew how to make everyone laugh. Trippie Redd confirmed the passing of his longtime collaborator, Chris King, in an emotional post on Instagram, on Saturday. In doing so, he shared several photos of him from over the years. Details regarding his cause of death remain unconfirmed.

“I am so hurt rn I can’t even think I love you bro come back!!!!! @whoischrisking,” Trippie wrote. “I can’t catch a break.” He added several crying and heartbroken emojis. Fans joined in mourning King in the comments section. “Bro his verse on can you rap like me pt2 will forever be legendary. RIP to Chris man,” one user wrote. Her death was reported by Christian outlet K-LOVE this morning and has since been confirmed by reps on the late star’s official Twitter/X account. She was found deceased at her Nashville home yesterday (April 18). Her cause of death has not been revealed.

Mister Cee’s Cause Of Death Revealed

Mister Cee, the longtime New York DJ at Hot 97 who is often credited with discovering The Notorious B.I.G., died of diabetes-related coronary artery and kidney disease, his family confirmed in a statement provided to AllHipHop. The Medical Examiner of New York City confirmed the cause of death after he passed at the age of 57, last week.

“On behalf of the Lebrun, Wilson, Calixte families we want to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support for our brother, uncle, nephew Calvin ‘DJ Mister Cee’ Lebrun in the wake of his untimely passing. It’s a huge loss for our entire family, the borough of Brooklyn, and the entire Hip-Hop Community,” the family said. “The Medical Examiner of NYC determined that his cause of death was Diabetes related coronary artery/kidney disease. Details about the public funeral service will be announced shortly. We ask that you please respect the family’s privacy during this extremely difficult time. Thank you.”

As for his relationship with The Notorious B.I.G., Cee served as a producer on his 1994 debut studio album, Ready to Die. He reflected on their relationship during an interview with Rock the Bells, last November. “The first time I met him was when his DJ, 50 Grand, rest in peace, brought Big to my house. The plan was we were going to redo the basement demo that he and 50 Grand put together,” Mister Cee recalled at the time. “Big was very shy. He would always talk with his head down and say, ‘Yo man, don’t be promising me nothing, man. If you say you’re going to do something, do it.’ And I’m like, nah, we’re going to redo the demo. We weren’t in a studio. We were at my house. I did it with two turntables, just cutting the record back and forth. We had a little cheesy mic that was better than the mic 50 Grand had at his house.”

After the NFL legend passed away at the age of 76, earlier this week, Jenner wrote on Twitter: “Good Riddance.” Simpson was a controversial figure for decades following the infamous 1995 acquittal for the murder of his ex-wife and one of her friends. Despite this, he made frequent appearances on Cam and Mase’s show.
