After more than two years, Roddy Ricch is finally delivering a new album with his upcoming project Live Life Fast. It’s an effort that will hopefully match the success of his debut album Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial. The 2019 project spent multiple weeks at No. 1 while also carrying a song, “The Box,” that tallied eleven weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100. Altogether, it’s a high bar that the Compton native will hopefully reach again. Just hours before he releases the project, Roddy returns to unveil its complete tracklist.
Through 18 songs, listeners will catch appearances from 21 Savage, Alex Isley, Bibi Bourelly, Fivio Foreign, Gunna, Jamie Foxx, Kodak Black, Takeoff, and Ty Dolla Sign. These are all guest appearances that Roddy previously revealed, but he did so without sharing the album’s complete tracklist until today. Now, thanks to an update to the album’s pre-save page on Apple Music, we’ve received full song titles in addition to knowing when these artists will appear beside Roddy throughout the album.
Most of the collaborations on Live Life Fast feature one guest except on two occasions: “Hibachi,” which places Kodak Black and 21 Savage with Roddy, and “Slow It Down,” which finds Ty Dolla Sign and Alex Isley working some magic together.

Although Terrace Martin’s last solo full-length collection came out four years ago (2017’s criminally overlooked Sounds Of Crenshaw Vol. 1 with The Pollyseeds), the Los Angeles producer has nevertheless remained busy throughout the past year, co-producing a number of EPs including They Call Me Disco with Ric Wilson and joining the jazz supergroup Dinner Party with 9th Wonder, Kamasi Washington, and Robert Glasper. However, today he announced his solo return with Drones, a new album coming out this Friday, November 5.
Included on the album’s 13 tracks are appearances from a veritable who’s-who of hip-hop luminaries including Cordae, D Smoke, Kendrick Lamar, Smino, Snoop Dogg, Ty Dolla Sign, and YG. Martin’s Dinner Party bandmates Kamasi Washington and Robert Glasper are also set to appear, along with a genre-hopping collection of rising stars and well-known hitmakers including Arin Ray, Celeste, Channel Tres, Hit-Boy, James Fauntleroy, Kim Burrell, and Kim Burrell.
In his press release for the new album, Martin teases the eclectic mix of sounds he intends to display throughout: “There are touches of R&B, touches of jazz, touches of hip-hop, touches of classical, Cuban music, West African music, house music,” he says. “You’re going to hear all elements of Black music within this record. It’s not one element I can leave out if I call myself a true Black artist.”

While Kawhi Leonard won’t be suiting up for the Clippers anytime soon this season following offseason ACL surgery, he’s been keeping busy as a co-executive producer for the Culture Jam Vol. 1 compilation, scheduled to be released tomorrow via Virgin Music. Yesterday, Uproxx reported on the latest video drop from the album for A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie And Capella Gray’s “Bestie.” The track follows the first two releases from the album: Rod Wave and YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s “Everything Different” and “Waves” by Gunna and Polo G.

Now, one day ahead of the release, the full tracklist has been shared and it looks like Kawhi plucked the cream of the crop from All-Star Weekend function. “Gotta Have It” with Ty Dolla Sign, Stefflon Don, and recent Uproxx cover star Wale stands out as one to get hyped on. It should be noted that Leonard indicated that part of the proceeds will benefit the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation. In addition to the album, Leonard is presenting the Culture Jam Sports And Music Festival (CJ21) featuring Cordae, Bluebuckslean, and others, held at the Shrine Auditorium in LA on November 21st.

After dropping off his Evolution project to the world last year, Joyner Lucas seems ready to deliver a new body of work to the world this year and his recent releases hint that he has something special on the way. For his latest offering to the world, Lucas calls on Ty Dolla Sign for “Late To The Party.” The track is the duo’s first record together and on it, both artists express their desire to be on time and prepared for life’s biggest and most fruitful moments.
The track adds to a growing list of collaborations that Lucas has delivered to fans in 2021. Earlier this year, he connected with Lil Baby on “Ramen & OJ” and shortly after he called on Lil Tjay for “Dreams Unfold.” The follow-up to that saw Lucas receive a huge guest feature as J. Cole joined him for “Your Heart.” Elsewhere in the year for Lucas, he dropped off a music video for “Legend” with Rick Ross and a visual for “Zim Zimma” with Mark Wahlberg, Diddy, and George Lopez.
Another notable moment from Lucas in 2021 came when he accused marketing strategist Karen Civil of stealing $60,000 from him nearly a decade ago. He made the accusations through a series of tweets before he took to Clubhouse to not only double down on his claims, but confront Civil as well.

After months of delays and an often-irritating waiting game, Drake finally shared the release date for his upcoming album, Certified Lover Boy. The rapper “hacked” a Sportscenter broadcast to reveal September 3 as the official date, then later shared quite the controversial artwork. Now he’s unveiled the guest features for the project in a very creative way.
Drake posted the names of his guests on various billboards. Among those set to appear include Jay-Z, Young Thug, Future, 21 Savage, Lil Baby, Giveon, Ty Dolla Sign, Lil Durk, Yebba, and Project Pat. The billboards for the artists were placed in each one’s respective state. For instance, Jay-Z’s was in New York, Lil Durk’s was in Illinois, both Giveon and Ty Dolla Sign’s were in California, Atlanta played home to Young Thug, Future, 21 Savage, and Lil Baby, while Project Pat and singer Yebba’s were in Memphis .
Lil Durk’s is set to appear on the album’s lead single “Laugh Now, Cry Later,” but it’s possible that he and Drake worked on multiple songs. Just like with the rest of the guests on the album, we’ll have to wait until Friday to find out.

There’s always a big risk in two artists coming together for a collaborative album. Even if the respective acts have spent ample studio time with each other, testing the waters and seeing how their collaborations fair in the public eye is important. Some things are better together, others better separate. It’s why Drake and Future’s What A Time To Be Alive was a success and why Travis Scott and Quavo’s Huncho Jack was a huge disappointment. While a joint project between DVSN and Ty Dolla Sign wasn’t specifically requested by their fans, it seemed set to be a match made in heaven. Both are inspired by ‘90s R&B and thrived in the genre thanks to originality through said inspiration. With that being said, Cheers To The Best Memories should have been an R&B lover’s dream, right? Yes, but the two acts missed the mark for such a title.
In a recent sit-down with Interview Magazine, Ty Dolla Sign and DVSN’s Daniel Daley and Nineteen85 spoke about the ins and outs out of the album, and in this discussion, they revealed the bar they set for Cheers To The Best Memories. “We cooked up a bit then and then we looked up like, ‘Yo, we’re kinda sitting on a few joints. It would be funny if we did some R&B Watch The Throne-type sh*t,’” Daley said. Jay-Z and Kanye West’s prized 2011 album has been, and still is, the bar to reach for modern artists who decided to join forces and make the best of the chemistry they have together and while the quality of the project and how well it aged are up for debate, there’s no denying the hip-hop moment it created and left behind. However, that came with time. Years of solo work from the respective rappers and years of collaborations together, and the latter, which Ty and DVSN lack, hurt them the most with Cheers To The Best Memories.
The records on Cheers To The Best Memories aren’t bad at all, but that’s simultaneously the issue at hand. The catalogs of DVSN and Ty boast records that are far past the descriptor of “not bad at all,” especially in the realm of bedroom symphonies and sensual soliloquies. Brighter moments that are delivered through the album’s spirited opener, “Memories,” and its closing tracks “Wedding Cake” — which is cut from the cloth of Ty’s “R&B” — and “I Believed It” are undercut by YG’s odd placement on “Can’t Tell.” Furthermore, Ty’s “Rude” interlude contradicts the album’s seemingly cheerfully nostalgic theme, as it arrives as nothing short of spiteful and disgruntled. Its placement makes even less sense next to DVSN’s pleading call towards his skeptical partner on his interlude, “Better Yet.” Lastly, while this writer is a fan of the song, “Somebody That You Don’t Know” is sonically out of place on the album and probably would’ve fit better on DVSN’s A Muse In Her Feelings.
Realistically Cheers To The Best Memories is the artists’ own attempt at duplicating Drake and Future’s What A Time To Be Alive more so than Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch The Throne. For starters, their titles are similar in the sense that they both seek to relish and recall the atmosphere that surrounds them. Additionally, DVSN and Ty bring both of their styles to the table while either party leads the way as the other uses their talents to fill the missing piece in the puzzle. They even allow moments for each other to shine individually. The success Drake and Future achieved with What A Time To Be Alive can also be credited to time. Their first song together arrived four years before the project, and in between that came multiple collaborations. While, of course, there are exceptions to every rule, Watch The Throne and What A Time To Be Alive worked in large part because of the chemistry the pair of rappers spent years working on.
DVSN and Ty Dolla Sign’s joint project leaves listeners second-guessing the expectations they set for the project. Maybe the bar was set too high, and maybe we got carried away with the expectations for it, but that leaves far too little blame on the artists. DVSN’s A Muse In Her Feelings and Ty’s Featuring Ty Dolla Sign were both highlight R&B efforts in 2020, leaving it more than reasonable that a strong body of work was expected from the two. With Cheers To The Best Memories, the world deserved something along the lines of DVSN on Ty’s “Everywhere” or “Slow It Down.” It was also worthy of Ty on “Greedy” or “For Us.” It’s theoretical records like these that would’ve helped push Cheers To The Best Memories to the level of quality we hoped for it to be. Hopefully, if Ty and DVSN choose to create a project once again, they learn from this and give the world something more impactful.

When R&B revivalists DVSN and Ty Dolla Sign announced they were working on a joint mixtape, the instant expectation was of chunky harmonies populating seductive but blunt come-ons over silky, ’90s-esque grooves. With their first single “Memories” and its accompanying video, the trio has not only met but exceeded those expectations ahead of the full project’s release on Friday.
Do you want extensive talkbox use? Check. A classic R&B sample (Silk’s 1992 hit “Freak Me”) courtesy of Nineteen85? Check. Were you looking to see glittery halters adorning the denizens of a grown-and-sexy club party in the video, a la millennial-era videos from the likes of Maxwell, Usher, Tyrese, and others? Yep, DVSN and Ty give you that, too. And yes, the harmonies are layered, lush, and lascivious as Ty and Daniel Daley describe all the immodest fantasies on their minds as they tell a potential paramour, “I want to make memories tonight.” We’ll leave just what those memories might consist of to your imagination.
The unofficial group first announced the title and release date for the project, Cheers To The Best Memories, earlier this month, a couple of weeks after dropping the lead single with Mac Miller, “I Believed It.” It’ll be DVSN’s first release since A Muse In Their Feelings, the duo’s third album, and Ty’s first since Featuring Ty Dolla Sign, his second album.

DVSN and Ty Dolla Sign delivered two of last year’s most impressive R&B releases. The former dropped A Muse In Their Feelings, which arrived with features from Future, Jessie Reyez, Popcaan, Snoh Aalegra, and others. Meanwhile Ty Dolla Sign dropped his third album, Featuring Ty Dolla Sign, with contributions from Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Roddy Ricch, Future, Young Thug, and more. Now, the two are bringing their skills together for a brand new joint album.
On Wednesday, DVSN and Ty Dolla Sign revealed that their upcoming collaboration, Cheers To The Best Memories, will arrive on August 20. They also unveiled the cover art, which depicts a collage of black and white photos from a party. No additional details for Cheers To The Best Memories were revealed, but in the meantime, there’s always the album’s lead single, “I Believed It,” which also features Mac Miller.
The upcoming album will not be the first time DVSN and Ty have worked together. The two collaborated for the first time ever on “Dangerous City” from A Muse In Their Feelings.

Ant Clemons has tallied a decent number of accomplishments to his name for his fairly short music career. He’s already worked with a number of industry stars including Kanye West and he’s also been Grammy-nominated thanks to his debut project Happy 2 Be Here, which was recognized in the Best R&B Album category. Now, Clemons seemingly has his eyes set on a future project as he returns with a brand new single that seems him working beside Ty Dolla Sign and 2 Chainz.
The trio joins forces for their gratitude-filled track, “Appreciation.” The moody banger is led by Clemons’ warm proclamations and the sultry thoughts he delivers to the special companion in his life. Ty Dolla Sign follows him with a verse filled with similar thoughts before 2 Chainz closes things out with a contribution of his own filled with slick-talking bars.
The track arrives after Clemons recruited Kehlani for “Section” last month. He also teamed up with Justin Timberlake to drop “Better Days” at the end of last year. As for his collaborators, Ty Dolla Sign recently connected with 070 Shake and Swedish House Mafia for “Lifetime” while 2 Chainz surprised some fans by saying his next full-length release would be his “last trap album.”
