BabyDrill “ScoreGod” Review

Atlanta rapper BabyDrill first made a splash after signing to Young Nudy’s Paradise East Records in 2022. Since then, the up-and-coming trap-rapper has released 3 studio albums and managed to snag some top-shelf collaborations with artists such as G Herbo, Latto, and 21 Savage. BabyDrill’s most recent outing, ScoreGod, released last week, less than a year after his Sophomore effort MadMan which dropped in June 2023.

ScoreGod showcases some of BabyDrill’s greatest flows, highlights his versatility on the mic, and expands his sound into a new and exciting sonic landscape. The 14-track project features guest verses from the likes of YTB Fatt, Rob49, Luh Tyler, and Hunxho. Here’s an overview and review of the brand-new record’s material.

The Album Is Incredibly Concise

With the record clocking in at only 37 minutes, BabyDrill ensures listeners that ScoreGod doesn’t overstay its welcome. The record’s brief run-time makes for an efficient listening experience, perfect for TikTok algorithms and the microwave attention span of modern listeners. Unfortunately, this does leave some tracks on the album to feel sparse and underdeveloped.

For instance, the title track, which features Luh Tyler, showcases an excellent blend of sounds from the two vocalists, whose voices contrast perfectly to keep the song sounding dynamic, but ultimately concludes just as abruptly as it begins. The final result is a track that sounds more like a snippet than a full song, and would certainly benefit from a third verse, or at least a bridge to round out the themes and ideas present before leaving listeners scrambling to find the “previous track” button.

BabyDrill Drowns In His Influences

BabyDrill manages to expertly tap into the grimy, murderous Atlanta trap sound throughout ScoreGod but ultimately fails to carve out a specific lane for himself. His sound makes him a perfect fit for Nudy’s label, though there are times on the record where you would be forgiven for confusing Drill for one of many other Nudy clones. While many of Drill’s lyrics may be true to his lived experience, there is very little to differentiate him from his peers and influences.

Some tracks, such as “Just Want You” offer a refreshing change of pace, with Drill tapping into a smoother melodic vibe, though many of the tracks on the back half of the album suffer from a lack of sonic diversity. “I Can’t Feel My Face” and “Down Bad” are also standout songs, with the former relying on resonant synth passages that would surely shake the venue during a live performance.

Conclusion

BabyDrill is still a relatively new artist and has plenty of time to grow into his own unique sound, but the majority of tracks on ScoreGod don’t do much to push the envelope. The album is certainly worth a listen, with some seriously high highs, but likely won’t be topping anyone’s “best of 2024” lists. If you’re a big fan of the grimy Atlanta trap sound, you’ll likely enjoy ScoreGod, even if the album won’t do much to inspire new fans of the sub-genre.

Are Metro Boomin And Young Nudy Working On A Collab Album?

Metro Boomin is on the hot streak of all hot streaks. While there are many hip-hop producers who’ve been similarly in-demand for extended runs, Metro’s run has been unique in that he’s not only produced for seemingly every big name in the game today, but his own solo projects and collaborative projects have been received equally as well as his singles.

Those collab projects have included Without Warning with 21 Savage and Offset, Double Or Nothing with Big Sean, and Savage Mode II with 21 Savage. Metro’s also soon to have another one with Future, and it’s rumored, one with Young Nudy.

Young Nudy has been a rising star in trap rap for a few years, generating some impressive buzz thanks to his collaboration with Pi’erre Bourne, Sli’merre, and association with some of trap’s hottest stars, which include his cousin 21 Savage. Since 2020, he has released four well-received projects, most recently 2023’s Gumbo.

While Metro Boomin is currently focused on his album with Future (and producing much of ASAP Rocky’s upcoming album, Don’t Be Dumb), fans have been excited for a potential collab with Young Nudy since the Atlanta rapper shared a preview of an upcoming single on Instagram Live bearing Metro’s distinctive producer tag.

Are Metro Boomin And Young Nudy Working On A Collab Album?

According to HotNewHipHop, it seems that one might be in the works, although it’d still be in extremely early stages. The St. Louis producer reposted Nudy’s video to his own Instagram Story, adding, “Too early in the year to start talking bout the Nudy tape yet.” This would seem to imply that they are working on something, but that it’s not quite ready for an announcement yet.

If/when such a tape does come out, it might be just the breakthrough Nudy needs to put him on a similar level of popularity with fellow Atlanta trap mainstays Lil Baby, Young Thug, and his cousin, 21 Savage, all while keeping Metro’s hot streak going.

Young Nudy Reveals Crazy Metro Boomin Track, Producer Hints At Collaboration Project In The Works

Over the years, Metro Boomin has built a strong rapport with so many rappers. His most successful ones are with Future, 21 Savage, and Travis Scott. One of his more underrated teammates is Young Nudy. The Atlanta, Georgia native had a nice 2023 with the release of his solo studio album Gumbo. That featured the viral hit song “Peaches & Eggplants.” It got so big in fact, that he decided to bring the hype up even higher with a remix. Nudy did this by bringing on two of the hottest female MCs in the game, Latto and Sexyy Red.

For 2024, he is looking to build on that success with some music with Metro. Their most recent effort landed on the wildly popular HEROES & VILLAINS tape from the end of 2022. “Umbrella” with 21 Savage was one of the darkest tracks on the record. It featured killer piano keys and relentless flows from the related rappers. With that feather in the cap of both Metro and Nudy, a new one might need to be added.

Nudy Is Helping Metro Gear Up For A Bigger 2024

The “EA” rapper hopped on Instagram Live to share a preview of an upcoming single. From what we can hear it sounds sinister. There are sharp string sections and a soulful sample that kick the track off. Then, the new “Metro!” tag comes in and the beat drops abruptly but beautifully and hits hard. Metro reposted the clip to his IG story and captioned it saying, “Too early in the year to start talking bout the Nudy tape yet [zipped shut mouth emoji fire emoji].” This a loose announcement, but on top of the the Future and JID tapes, Nudy is getting one too at some point.

What are your thoughts on Metro Boomin and Young Nudy’s upcoming collaboration? Will this project drop this year, or sometime next year? Where would you rank him and Nudy together amongst the rest of the Metro duos? Does this have the potential to be one of the best trap songs of the year? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Young Nudy’s ‘Peaches & Eggplants’ Remix With Sexyy Red And Latto Has A Saucier, Feminine Edge

Young Nudy’s “Peaches & Eggplants” was one of this summer’s more randy hits. Tonight (September 8), the East Atlanta rapper has dropped an even saucier remix, featuring two of the leading ladies in the rap game right now.

Joined by Sexyy Red and Latto, Nudy’s hit single now has a more feminine-empowering edge to it. And believe us, these ladies don’t hold back.

The St. Louis newcomer, who has been giving us hit-after-hit these past few months, sets the tone for the song, delivering scandalous lines not for the faint of heart.

“Hit from the back, rip off my tracks / Grip on my booty, you know that it’s fat / Hoes stay tweakin’, lil’ b*tch, relax,” raps Red on her verse. These are probably the most printable lyrics, and her fiery bars make her breakthrough single “Pound Town” sound like a playground song.

Equally as raunchy is Latto’s verse. And while we can’t share much of her lines, this is a continuation of a high-quality feature run that the fellow ATL rapper has been giving us all summer.

“He wanna know if it’s real or it’s fake / I got a peach on the back like a plate / I got him eatin’ my booty on tape,” raps Latto

Latto And Sexyy Red Dropped A Tag-Team Twerk Video To Announce Their Remix Of Young Nudy’s ‘Peaches & Eggplant’

Young Nudy earned his first-career entry on the Billboard Hot 100 as a lead artist with “Peaches & Eggplant,” a track featuring 21 Savage and housed on his Gumbo album from February. The single debuted on the Hot 100 in June, around the time Nudy dropped the extremely raunchy video, and has spent 13 weeks on the chart, peaking at No. 49 on September 2.

What could Nudy possibly do to boost the song’s chart positioning? Get Latto and Sexyy Red on a remix.

[Peach emoji, eggplant emoji] Remix Friday @youngnudy #WasGoneDoAJointPostWithSexyyButYallDeletedHerIG [angry emoji],” Latto captioned an Instagram video of her twerking alongside Sexyy Red.

The playful nature of Latto’s Instagram tease is on par with Young Nudy’s mindset when creating “Peaches & Eggplant” in the first place, as he told Billboard‘s Kyle Denis in July.

“I ain’t even gonna play like I was on some intentional sh*t — it was just me playing around in the studio and being goofy,” he said. “I was just being silly with my buddies.”

Nudy also joked about the “ratchet” video, saying, “That motherf*ker was lit, though! It really wasn’t even that many people at first. I was like, ‘You know what? I’m finna make this sh*t public for everybody to come.’ Because I just want everybody to have fun. I’m a down-to-earth type of person, so I don’t really care about having a lot of people around me who just wanna kick it, when it comes to certain situations.”

21 Savage Unveils Some NSFW Visuals On Tour

It’s only been a few days of Drake and 21 Savage’s “It’s All A Blur” tour and the shows continue to make headlines every night. Today, 21 is making waves for some new visuals he introduced at a show that are particularly NSFW. Hilariously enough, this isn’t even the first time NSFW visuals have been in the news from the tour. Fans were thoroughly confused when Drake started performing alongside holographic sperm on the first night of the tour. While 21’s new visuals do make a bit more sense, they’re far raunchier.

Earlier this year, 21 Savage teamed up with fellow Atlanta rapper Young Nudy for a track called “Peaches & Eggplants.” The track has been a pretty major success and as a result, Savage is playing it on tour. According to XXL, while the song was being performed some incredibly suggestive visuals of emoji peaches and eggplants shows up. If the implication wasn’t already obvious enough, the action that follows makes it extremely clear what Savage is going for with the visuals.

As expected, the “It’s All A Blur” tour has made waves with every single stop. At a recent show, Drake took pretty clear shots at Childish Gambino. The rapper’s #1 hit “This Is America” has long been reported to originally have been a Drake diss and clearly that’s something Drake hasn’t forgotten about. Fans thought that he might even be taking aim at Kendrick Lamar during a recent show though it’s much less clear.

Both 21 Savage and Drake have also had to dodge a lot more things on stage than they may have been expecting. Both have been approached by fans on stage. While in Atlanta a fan rushed the stage to give 21 Savage a hug. Though his security eventually intervened, he didn’t seem to mind that much. What do you think of 21 Savage’s new tour visuals? Let us know in the comment section below.

Young Nudy And 21 Savage’s NSFW ‘Peaches & Eggplants’ Video Is As Raunchy And Twerk-tastic As It Can Get

Young Nudy‘s album Gumbo has been out for three months, and his promotion for it is still going strong. He shared the first video since its release today, tapping his cousin 21 Savage to throw their own mini-Freaknik in the park in the visual accompaniment for “Peaches & Eggplants.” The title, an obvious reference to the two most sexually-charged emojis, gives listeners a hint of what the video’s going to contain: A lot of booty.

The video features a crowd of women shaking, wining, popping, and twerking all over the park — including on the playground equipment, which… I hope they wiped that down — as 21 and Nudy recount their tales of romantic liaisons (lol), smoke, drink, and enjoy the show.

Gumbo arrived in March after nearly 200 of Nudy’s songs leaked. Although he was rightly pretty annoyed about the violation, he seems to have taken everything in stride. “I’m 100 percent finna take my time out to find out 100 percent who exactly is leaking my music,” he threatened. “I’m 100 percent gonna pull up at whatever studio it is and I’m 100 percent gon’ beat your ass, on my mama.”

Although we don’t know if he followed through, it’s nice to see that he’s also remaining focused on supporting the music he did officially drop.

Who Is Pi’erre Bourne?

Pi’erre Bourne may be best known in mainstream circles for the “Yo Pierre, you wanna come out here?” tagline. However, Bourne is a multifaceted artist who works as a producer, rapper, and audio engineer. Along with producing some of the top tracks of the past few years for rappers such as Playboi Carti, Young Nudy, and Lil Uzi Vert, just to name a few, Pi’erre has also released three solo studio albums. Pi’erre has also worked closely with Kanye West and has recently solidified himself as one of the most prolific producers. Here’s a look at the life and career of Pi’erre Bourne.

Early Life

Pi’erre Bourne grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. In addition to this, he spent summers with his grandmother in Queens, New York. During his time in New York, Pi’erre’s interest in East Coast Hip-Hop acts such as Dipset and G-Unit grew. Pi’erre began making beats on FL Studio on his uncle’s computer in elementary school. Bourne’s uncle was a rapper and graphic artist.

Upon graduating high school, Bourne went to college for graphic design but dropped out after a year to pursue music. At this time, his uncle encouraged Bourne to move to Atlanta. Due to this, Pi’erre attended the SAE Institute to study sound engineering. While in school, Bourne befriended DJ Burn One, and after graduating, the two worked at a recording studio as audio engineers. In 2015, Pi’erre worked as an engineer for Epic Records but left after a year to pursue his own career as a producer.

Solo Career & Collaborations With Playboi Carti

The year 2016 proved to be the beginning of Pi’erre’s breakout as an artist. In 2016, Pi’erre began producing for Trippie Redd and eventual long-time collaborator Young Nudy. Additionally, Bourne released three solo mixtapes, The Life of Pi’erre, The Life of Pi’erre 2, and The Life of Pi’erre 3. Bourne’s popularity would skyrocket after he met Playboi Carti.

Pi’erre met Playboi Carti in February 2017 and collaborated on the track “Woke Up Like This” featuring Lil Uzi Vert. Pi’erre produced more tracks on Carti’s debut self-titled album, including the hit “Magnolia.” The track peaked at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100. In addition to its commercial success, Pi’erre’s tagline on the song, “Yo Pierre, you want to come out here,” became its own viral sensation. The saying became an internet meme and a trademark attached to any Pi’erre beat.

Sli’merre, The Life of Pi’erre 4, & Collabs With Kanye West

With the success of “Magnolia,” Pi’erre’s talent as a producer was in high demand in 2017. That year, Pi’erre racked up production credits on 21 Savage’s Issa Album, Lil Yachty’s Teenage Emotions, Big Sean and Metro Boomin’s Double or Nothing, and Lil Uzi Vert’s Luv Is Rage 2. Pi’erre also produced 6ix9ine’s 2017 track “Gummo.” It charted at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Pi’erre another top hit along with “Magnolia.”

In 2018, Bourne once again collaborated with Playboi Carti on his second album Die Lit, as he produced the majority of the songs and featured as a rapper on two tracks from the album. Around this same time, Pi’erre would also begin his collaborations with Kanye West. Pi’erre co-produced the song “Yikes” from Kanye’s album Ye and the single “Watch,” which featured West and Travis Scott.

Pi’erre then released a full-length collaborative project with Young Nudy in May of 2019 titled Sli’merre. Bourne produced all twelve tracks on the project, which included features from Megan Thee Stallion, DaBaby, Lil Uzi Vert, and 21 Savage. Sli’merre was met with critical acclaim and released at No. 1 on Apple Music’s US All Genres Chart. It also peaked at No. 63 on the US Billboard Hot 200. Also in 2019, Pi’erre released his debut studio album, The Life of Pi’erre 4. The album featured Bourne’s production and rapper abilities and peaked at No. 107 on the US Billboard Hot 200.

Recent Success: Grammy Awards & No. 1 Producer In The World

In 2020, Pi’erre’s contributions to Hip-Hop continued. Bourne produced four songs on Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake and also produced Drake’s “Pain 1993,” which featured Playboi Carti. “Pain 1993” peaked at No. 7 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Because of this, Bourne debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Producer Chart in March 2020. In addition to this, Pi’erre would once again collaborate with Carti on his third album Whole Lotta Red, which was met with critical acclaim.

Pi’erre once again collaborated with Kanye West on his album Jesus is King. Bourne co-produced songs “On God” and “Use This Gospel.” For his contributions, Pi’erre won his first Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album at the 2021 award ceremony. Bourne also released his second album, The Life of Pi’erre 5, in 2021, which peaked at No. 35 on the US Billboard Hot 200 charts. As with his previous album, Pi’erre produced the entire album and rapped on it as well.

Pi’erre’s success has continued to the present day, as he continues to contribute to some of the hottest tracks in Hip-Hop. Pi’erre also released his third album, Good Movie, in September 2022. He has also released two singles this year, “IG” and “Honeyberry 2.” Whether as a solo artist or producer, Pi’erre Bourne has cemented himself as one of the most influential and important artists of recent times.
