G. Dep’s Prison Release Comes After 13 Years Behind Bars: Video

The story of G. Dep is unlike that of any other rhymer, which is exactly why we’re so curious to see what’s next for the former Bad Boy artist. As HipHopDX reports, Trevell Coleman was signed to Diddy’s label in the late ’90s. He only got to show us a small bit of his lyrical talent before he went away to prison. In late 2023 he was one of just over a dozen people who New York Governor Kathy Hochul granted clemency. At the time, Dep became eligible for parole years sooner than before, and he was finally released today (April 4).

His official Instagram page has been keeping followers up to date with the latest, from the prison gates to Coleman’s first meal as a free man. The 49-year-old’s family was happy to pick him up at Fishkill Correctional Facility in upstate NY. At the time, they emotionally greeted him with a prayer circle.

Before the clemency grant, Dep was unable to petition the parole board until the 15-year mark of his sentence for the 1993 murder of John Henkel. It wasn’t until 2010 that the “Special Delivery” artist turned himself in, but his heartfelt apology and the work he’s done to change his life behind bars helped prove that he’s worthy of a second chance at life.

Rather than reporting on constant arrests, it’s a welcome break to hear so many stories of incarcerated artists coming home. Unfortunately, B.G.’s return from prison has been cut unexpectedly short as he allegedly broke probation by working with known felons like Gucci Mane and Boosie Badazz. Would you like to see G. Dep return to the studio now that he’s a free man? Let us know in the comments, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Sexyy Red & Yung Miami Twerk Battle To “Get It Sexyy”

Megan Thee Stallion is hard at work on a new album, which means 2024 is bound to be another Hot Girl Summer after Diddy tried to have us all acting bad in 2023. However, the Houston native has said she’s unsure how many “pop that a**” songs she plans to include on the tracklist, as she hopes to remind the world of her rap skills first and foremost. Some music lovers are disappointed by this news, but others see it as a chance for other rap divas to shine with their NSFW tracks, such as Sexyy Red.

Over the past year, the St. Louis native has steadily dropped bangers on us, from “SkeeYee” to her latest hit, “Get It Sexyy.” The latter’s music video quickly went viral thanks to appearances from Drake, Adin Ross, and Soulja Boy among others. The 2000s iconography has us feeling seriously nostalgic, but besides dropping a visual, the mother of two has other ideas for promoting her song. Among them is a social media twerk battle with Yung Miami, which some think Sexyy championed.

For her part, the Hood Hottest Princess put on one hell of a show, flaunting her natural body in a white crop top and red booty shorts with “FREE MY BABY DADDY” written across the back. She showed off her splits, making her cheeks clap on the ground before effortlessly getting back up without missing a beat. When Miami responded she was also looking cute and casual at home, bending over to bounce her behind in unison with the beat to “Get It Sexyy.” Because she was nowhere near as theatrical as her competitor, viewers voted the Florida native as the loser but still applauded her for looking so good.

Though she looks good twerking, Yung Miami is still under public scrutiny for being named in Lil Rod’s troubling Diddy lawsuit. So far, the City Girl’s been denying any involvement in drug trafficking or being a sex worker for her former lover, but the internet isn’t totally convinced. Read all about those allegations at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Ray J & Sukihana Link After Princess Love Split: “All You Gon’ See Is Bad B**ches”

Try as they might to make their marriage work over the years, Ray J and Princess Love have decided it is in their best interest to separate (again). On her end, the poker player has been out and about with John Boyega, causing romance rumours to fly. For his part, Ray’s focus remains on building his empire and spending time with beautiful, wild women. Earlier this week, he and fellow Love & Hip Hop star Sukihana linked up, and the 43-year-old had a message, seemingly for his ex-wife, revealing what type of time he’s on in this season of life.

“Now that I’m free and I can do what I want, stop complaining,” the R&B artist told his followers on Instagram Live. “All you going to see is bad b**ches and pu**y,” Ray declared after showing Suki and other women shamelessly twerking for him. “So f**k what you talking about. We up, we so up. We don’t give a f**k,” the Mississippi native said with a straight face.

Now that the footage is circulating on blogs, followers of the former couple are sharing their thoughts. “I can’t wait till Princess pulls a Ciara and gets her a Russell Wilson,” one user encouraged the reality starlet. “Sounds like he’s trying to convince himself and not the world lol,” another said of Ray’s explicit rant.

Ray J obviously has his mind on women during this transitionary phase in his life, but not all of his thoughts are as salacious as they come across on social media. The “Sexy Can I” hitmaker is keen to strike up a TV deal with Chrisean Rock so that they can both continue to feed their families and rise to new levels of fame. Rick Ross & Drake Drama Leaves Joe Budden In His Feelings

Joe Budden and Drake have had a lot to say about one another lately, and not all of it has been positive. However, the former did share on a recent episode of his podcast that there’s at least one artist that he’d be sad not to see Champagne Papi in the studio with anymore. While chatting with his co-hosts, Budden spoke about the apparent drama that’s unfolding between Drake and most of his contemporaries right now, noting that he wouldn’t be bothered by a halt in collaborations between the 6ix God and Future.

“I wasn’t the biggest fan of What A Time to Be Alive so who cares if Drake and Future never record again in my book. If Rick Ross and Drake are not rapping together no more, this hurts,” the 43-year-old said. “This is impactful. No more ‘[Aston Martin] Music’?” Budden asked in disbelief. As HipHopDX reports, the main clue right now as to why Rozay unfollowed his long-time friend is a tweet from Metro Boomin urging hip-hop heads to “pick a side” after dropping We Don’t Trust You last month.

Joe Budden Wishes for Drake and Rick Ross to Resolve Their Conflict

The former correctional officer appears as a guest on the collab album from the renowned producer and Hendrix, which also includes Kendrick Lamar’s feisty “Like That” diss aimed at Champagne Papi. Rather than jumping in the booth to respond, Drake went low by sending VIP tickets to Ross’ ex, Cristina Mackey during a recent tour date, and has been hinting at crafting the perfect comeback to his newfound opps.

At this point, it’s looking like Drake is feuding with many of his past collaborators, though we still haven’t exactly pieced together why. Earlier this week the father of one fueled rumours that he and Travis Scott are on the outs by appearing to “shoot” at a prop of the Houston native’s head while performing their “MELTDOWN” collaboration. Fat Joe & Lil Kim Perform At The Apollo, Rap Diva Brings Out Signature Robot Moves: Watch

For the past few years, female rhymers have been holding things down in the hip-hop community, from big players like Nicki Minaj and Cardi B to rising stars such as Ice Spice and Sexyy Red. Before we met all of those artists, one woman was holding onto the title of the Queen of Rap – Lil Kim. The New York native pushed boundaries so that those coming after her would be free to express themselves fully and find success within the industry rather than be taken advantage of by executives.

Though she’s no longer rhyming as feverishly as we once heard her, Kim remains in the public eye and still knows a thing or two about performing. For instance, her dear friend Fat Joe tapped her to join him on stage at the Apollo Theater in New York City earlier this week, which she happily obliged. In the video below, the “Love Stick” hitmaker pulls out some of her signature dance moves, including the robotic motions she often goes viral for pulling out consistently over the years.

Fat Joe Surprises New York Crowd With Queen Bee Lil Kim

Kim’s fans are always happy to see her still in action, but critics still have much to say about the significant changes to her appearance over the years. “Personally, my heart hurts for this woman, and Black women in general when I see this video,” one Twitter/X user wrote, pulling out an old photo of Kim to compare to her notably whiter look in 2024. “We’re just lying to ourselves; the only thing I see is a Black woman in pain and nothing else,” they speculated. “I love when seasoned artists still have enthusiasm to perform,” someone else chimed in, praising both Joe and his friend.

Elsewhere in the Queen Bee’s world, Lil Kim’s been cozying up with a younger man who goes by Tayy Brown. It’s unclear what their current relationship status is, though we can tell the New York native has plenty of feelings. Diddy Raids: Misa Hylton Shares Security Cam Footage Calls Out Feds Excessive Use Of Force

Last week the hip-hop world was stunned by the news that two of Diddy’s properties were raided by feds. They revealed that it was in connection with an investigation into sex trafficking allegations against the rap mogul. They also intercepted his private jet at the airport in Miami where they arrested one of his associates. The focus of the investigation going forward appears to be directed at his private jet flight logs.

While footage of the properties after the raid made the rounds online quickly now footage of the actual raid itself is being unveiled. The most recent taste came from Misa Hylton, the mother of two of Diddy’s sons Justin and Christian. She shared the video to criticize the use of force deployed by the feds during the raid. “The over zealous and overtly militarized force used against my sons Justin and Christian is deplorable. If these were the sons of a non-Black celebrity, they would not have been handled with the same aggression. The attempt to humiliate and terrorize these innocent young BLACK MEN is despicable!” her post begins. She also revealed that Justin and Christian’s lawyer is looking into claims of excessive use of force. Check out the post she shared below.

Misa Hylton Shares Footage Of Diddy Raids

In the week since the raid news has been slowly leaking out regarding the details of the raids. That includes allegations that multiple guns were found during the home search. That came a few days after it was revealed that the feds targeted electronics like phones and laptops during the raid.

News broke earlier today that Diddy isn’t receiving an invite to this year’s MET Gala. He was in attendance last year alongside girlfriend Yung Miami. He’s been a regular at the function on the back of his sportswear brand Sean John. What do you think of the footage of Diddy’s home raids? Do you think the feds used an excessive level of force against his two sons? Let us know in the comment section below.

ScHoolboy Q Reveals He Made Enough Money From Golf Take A Break From Rap

ScHoolboy Q is perhaps the most notorious golfer in all of hip-hop. The rapper has frequently spoken out about how much he loves the sport and even collaborated with a PGA Tour video game a few years ago. While it was passion that originally led him to the sport, he revealed in a recent appearance on Lil Yachty’s podcast what kept him there. He was funding his time between new rap releases with money he made from golf.

“I don’t kick it in the studio no more,” Q said at the beginning of the conversation. He went onto explain the ways that rapping was lucrative for him, but he also made quite a bit of money from playing golf. “I was able to relax for five years. I made a lot of money off rap, but golf helped me a lot,” he revealed. Unfortunately, there was more to the story. He opened up on refusing numerous endorsement deals because of alleged racism and the desire for him to appear “more black.” Check out the full podcast appearance he made below.

Lil Yachty Revives A Classic McDonald’s Anthem In New Ad For The Restaurant

McDonald’s is no stranger to celebrity cameos and collaborations and that includes musicians. Often that comes through their own custom celebrity meals, of which they’ve done multiple. K-pop group BTS, reggaeton singer J Balvin and subsequently pop icon Mariah Carey have all lent their names to specific meals from the restaurant. The rap world is also well represented with Travis Scott, Saweetie, and Cardi B having collaborated in the past.

But in their new advertisement, they’re taking the hip-hop collaboration in a much more literal direction. For a new commercial in Canada, where McDonald’s is celebrating their new remix menu, they got Lil Yachty to do a remix of his own. In the ad he delivers an updated version of the classic “Menu Song” from advertisements the restaurant aired in the 80s. Yachty in particular feels like the perfect choice for the collab, as he’s spoken in the past about working for McDonald’s as a teenager. Take a look at the full remix he delivered below.

Yachty claims that the simple reasons some rappers are so angry is that “they’re ugly.” The hilarious clip made the rounds online and didn’t seem to cause too much trouble for the rapper.

Yachty has been working with a ton of young up and coming artists recently. He recently formed his own label, Concrete Rekordz. Additionally the project already has multiple signees who have dropped a few songs as “Concrete Boys. “ There’s also a label compilation album from Concrete Boys releasing in just a few days. Machine Gun Kelly Takes Fans Behind The Scenes Of His Blackout Tattoo

Back in February, Machine Gun Kelly briefly broke the internet when he revealed hit new tattoo. Rather than any particularly evocative piece of ink, he instead revealed that he had gotten a massive blackout of almost his entire arms and torso, covering up many of the tats that were already there. He got the chance to show it off in person just a few days later. That came when Drake invited MGK out to join him on stage during a show in the rapper’s native Cleveland.

Now he’s taking fans behind the scenes of the exhaustive process that resulted in his blackout tat. In the video he shows how many sessions he had to go through to get all of the ink on himself. Included in that is clips of the scaring and bleeding that resulted. It also features MGK describing it as the worst pain he’s ever felt. He also reveals he used a hyperbolic oxygen chamber in an attempt to help the tattoo heal faster. In the comments though, fans still aren’t enjoying the blackout. “Your old tattoos were iconic” one of the top comments on the post reads. Check out the full clip he shared recapping his journey with the tattoo below.

Machine Gun Kelly Shows Off His Blackout Tattoo

Over the weekend, MGK unveiled his new collaborative project with Trippie Redd. They teamed up for a 10-track, 30-minute EP called genre: sadboy. Since both artists have their fair share of haters, critics were taking shots at the project before it was even released.

One person they probably didn’t expect to take aim at the project was one of the producers whose work was used on it. But Trippie ended up in a heated back and forth on Twitter with a producer who didn’t seem to want his beat associated with MGK. What do you think of the video MGK shared showing off what he went through for his blackout tattoo? Do you think getting the blackout tat was a good idea? Let us know in the comment section below.
