Cardi B Explains Why It Bothers Her When Fans Call Her Mexican

Earlier this week, Cardi had a viral interaction online discussing her heritage with fans. In a series of tweets she stood up for her Dominican identity and took offense at those who called her Mexican. She even brought up Ice Spice, who caught the tweet herself and posted a response. Some fans misinterpreted their interaction as being more hostile than it was. The two had to share some pictures of them together at the Vanity Fair Oscars party and publicly bond over their Dominican heritage just to shut down the beef rumors.

Now in a new TikTok live, Cardi explained further why she takes issue with being called Mexican by fans. “A lot of people keep saying damn, why is it I feel offended when people call me Mexican? Because I’m not Mexican! I’m not Mexican. My nationalities don’t have the same culture. We speak the same language, we have different dialects. We don’t eat the same food, we don’t eat the same nothing. Call a Nigerian Ghanaian. Call a Haitian Jamaican. Call a Jamaican a Haitian. Call Guyanese a Trini and you tell me how they gonna feel. Later in the video, she elaborates further. “Y’all do that sh*t to irritate me. And not only do you y’all call me a Mexican, y’all call me a dirty Mexican. So, of course, I’m gonna defend myself every single time you guys do it. You’re not gonna keep erasing my nationalities” she explains. The discussion concludes with her once again refusing to accept fans trying to erase who she is.

After years of teasing, Cardi is gearing up to drop her long-awaited second album this year. She’s already dropped two new singles so far in the lead up to the project. GloRilla And Megan Thee Stallion Throw A Frat Party For The Ages In “Wanna Be” Music Video

Overnight, GloRilla dropped her new mixtape Ehhthang Ehhthang, her first project since her 2022 EP Anyways, Life’s Great. The new project serves up half an hour of music with features from Moneybagg Yo, Kevo Muney, Boston Richey, Finesse 2x, and Megan Thee Stallion. The Megan-featuring “Wanna Be” has been teased all with with a snippet making the rounds online ahead of the songs release. Now that the new project is out, the pair didn’t wait long to unleash the visuals for their collaboration.

Earlier today the pair dropped the new video for “Wanna Be” which has already racked up tens of thousands of views in just a few hours. The video begins with a sign pointing fans to “frat row” and the pair deliver on that promise. In the visuals for the song Glo and Megan throw a massive frat party. It features some of the staples you’d expect like excessive drinking. But it also sports some even wilder moments, like someone getting “Glo” branded on them. Earlier this year, GloRilla dropped the lead single from her new mixtape, “Yeah Glo.” The song became an instant fan-favorite and has turned into a stable hit in the weeks since. Doja Cat And Teezo Touchdown Share High-Contrast Music Video For Their New Collab “MASC”

Overnight, Doja Cat released the deluxe edition of her album Scarlet, which originally dropped last year. The deluxe is called Scarlet 2 CLAUDE and features seven new songs added to the original tracklist. She surprised fans with the song “URRRGE” which sports a feature from A$AP Rocky. The other new feature in the tracklist was announced ahead of time. Earlier this week Doja teased her new single “MASC” which features Teezo Touchdown.

In tandem with the release of the new deluxe album, they also shared a new music video for “MASC.” The video has already racked up almost 400k views and is trending on YouTube even amid a busy week for major new releases. The video itself features Doja and Teezo lit by spotlights in an otherwise pitch-black room highlighting the eccentricities of their looks. Doja delivers two outfits, one fittingly on the masculine side and the other channeling her more old-school feminine looks. G. Dep’s Prison Release Comes After 13 Years Behind Bars: Video

The story of G. Dep is unlike that of any other rhymer, which is exactly why we’re so curious to see what’s next for the former Bad Boy artist. As HipHopDX reports, Trevell Coleman was signed to Diddy’s label in the late ’90s. He only got to show us a small bit of his lyrical talent before he went away to prison. In late 2023 he was one of just over a dozen people who New York Governor Kathy Hochul granted clemency. At the time, Dep became eligible for parole years sooner than before, and he was finally released today (April 4).

His official Instagram page has been keeping followers up to date with the latest, from the prison gates to Coleman’s first meal as a free man. The 49-year-old’s family was happy to pick him up at Fishkill Correctional Facility in upstate NY. At the time, they emotionally greeted him with a prayer circle.

Before the clemency grant, Dep was unable to petition the parole board until the 15-year mark of his sentence for the 1993 murder of John Henkel. It wasn’t until 2010 that the “Special Delivery” artist turned himself in, but his heartfelt apology and the work he’s done to change his life behind bars helped prove that he’s worthy of a second chance at life.

Sexyy Red & Yung Miami Twerk Battle To “Get It Sexyy”

Megan Thee Stallion is hard at work on a new album, which means 2024 is bound to be another Hot Girl Summer after Diddy tried to have us all acting bad in 2023. However, the Houston native has said she’s unsure how many “pop that a**” songs she plans to include on the tracklist, as she hopes to remind the world of her rap skills first and foremost. Some music lovers are disappointed by this news, but others see it as a chance for other rap divas to shine with their NSFW tracks, such as Sexyy Red.

Over the past year, the St. Louis native has steadily dropped bangers on us, from “SkeeYee” to her latest hit, “Get It Sexyy.” The latter’s music video quickly went viral thanks to appearances from Drake, Adin Ross, and Soulja Boy among others. The 2000s iconography has us feeling seriously nostalgic, but besides dropping a visual, the mother of two has other ideas for promoting her song. Among them is a social media twerk battle with Yung Miami, which some think Sexyy championed.

For her part, the Hood Hottest Princess put on one hell of a show, flaunting her natural body in a white crop top and red booty shorts with “FREE MY BABY DADDY” written across the back. She showed off her splits, making her cheeks clap on the ground before effortlessly getting back up without missing a beat. When Miami responded she was also looking cute and casual at home, bending over to bounce her behind in unison with the beat to “Get It Sexyy.” Because she was nowhere near as theatrical as her competitor, viewers voted the Florida native as the loser but still applauded her for looking so good.

Though she looks good twerking, Yung Miami is still under public scrutiny for being named in Lil Rod’s troubling Diddy lawsuit. However, the former did share on a recent episode of his podcast that there’s at least one artist that he’d be sad not to see Champagne Papi in the studio with anymore. While chatting with his co-hosts, Budden spoke about the apparent drama that’s unfolding between Drake and most of his contemporaries right now, noting that he wouldn’t be bothered by a halt in collaborations between the 6ix God and Future.

“I wasn’t the biggest fan of What A Time to Be Alive so who cares if Drake and Future never record again in my book. If Rick Ross and Drake are not rapping together no more, this hurts,” the 43-year-old said. “This is impactful. No more ‘[Aston Martin] Music’?” Budden asked in disbelief. As HipHopDX reports, the main clue right now as to why Rozay unfollowed his long-time friend is a tweet from Metro Boomin urging hip-hop heads to “pick a side” after dropping We Don’t Trust You last month.

The former correctional officer appears as a guest on the collab album from the renowned producer and Hendrix, which also includes Kendrick Lamar’s feisty “Like That” diss aimed at Champagne Papi. Fat Joe & Lil Kim Perform At The Apollo, Rap Diva Brings Out Signature Robot Moves: Watch

For the past few years, female rhymers have been holding things down in the hip-hop community, from big players like Nicki Minaj and Cardi B to rising stars such as Ice Spice and Sexyy Red. Before we met all of those artists, one woman was holding onto the title of the Queen of Rap – Lil Kim. The New York native pushed boundaries so that those coming after her would be free to express themselves fully and find success within the industry rather than be taken advantage of by executives.

Though she’s no longer rhyming as feverishly as we once heard her, Kim remains in the public eye and still knows a thing or two about performing. For instance, her dear friend Fat Joe tapped her to join him on stage at the Apollo Theater in New York City earlier this week, which she happily obliged. In the video below, the “Love Stick” hitmaker pulls out some of her signature dance moves, including the robotic motions she often goes viral for pulling out consistently over the years.

Kim’s fans are always happy to see her still in action, but critics still have much to say about the significant changes to her appearance over the years. “Personally, my heart hurts for this woman, and Black women in general when I see this video,” one Twitter/X user wrote, pulling out an old photo of Kim to compare to her notably whiter look in 2024. “We’re just lying to ourselves; the only thing I see is a Black woman in pain and nothing else,” they speculated. “I love when seasoned artists still have enthusiasm to perform,” someone else chimed in, praising both Joe and his friend.
