NBA YoungBoy To Remain In Federal Custody While He Awaits Pretrial Release Hearing

NBA YoungBoy looks to be in a whole heap of trouble after his recent arraignment on April 16. As most know, the prolific Baton Rouge, Louisiana rapper has been on house arrest in Utah for federal weapons charges and now he is facing even more charges. Those currently include “patterns of unlawful activity, procuring or attempting to procure drugs, identity fraud, forgery, possession of controlled substances, and possession of a dangerous weapon.” That was all reported by social media sleuth DJ Akademiks. Now, we have another new update surrounding YB’s legal situation. According to AllHipHop, the 24-year-old Kentrell Gaulden will be kept in federal custody until his pretrial release hearing on April 29.

The “Cache County Sheriff’s Office accused YB and his associates of illegally obtaining promethazine with codeine from pharmacies.” The rapper and the rest of the people involved were allegedly posing as doctors and fake patients to trick pharmacists. The Cache County investigator on the case, Tyson Hyrum Nielsen, sniffed out that the rapper was pretending to be an elderly woman with the alias, Gwendolyn Cox. AllHipHop says that Nielsen called “Cox” and YoungBoy on separate phone calls to decipher that it was indeed one person putting on a disguise.

NBA YoungBoy Will Have His Pretrial Release Hearing On April 29

“During the conversation with ‘Gwendolyn’ it was very clear that a fake voice was being used. ‘Gwendolyn’ sounded as though she was a much younger male from the southern states… Kentrell Gaulden continued to attempt to further the prescription fraud by talking about the prescription and saying, ‘she on the hospital bed,’ referring to the patient ‘Gwendolyn Cox’ from the previous day,” Nielsen said. He even noticed small dialect errors like saying “axe” instead of “ask.”

What are your thoughts on NBA YoungBoy being held in jail until his pretrial hearing on April 29? How do you see this entire court case playing out for him? Do you see YB getting out of the legal issues in the future, why or why not? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Yungeen Ace Asks 50 Cent To Make A Film Based On His Life After Weapons Arrest

Yungeen Ace was recently arrested on gun possession charges, adding another chapter to the many highs and lows of his turbulent life and career. At least, that’s what we’ve seen in the headlines on occasion, and that seems to be something that he’s well aware of, as well. Moreover, the Florida native recently took to Instagram with a message for one of hip-hop’s most successful and well-connected moguls in the wider entertainment industry. “@50cent I’m trying to get in contact with you about a move about my life,” he posited to the G-Unit boss, who hasn’t responded publicly to this request at press time.

Furthermore, it’s very likely that Yungeen Ace knew that this was exactly the right time to strike when it comes to making this pitch. This is because 50 Cent recently opened up a massive film and television studio lot in Shreveport, Louisiana, which will surely bring a lot of other amazing projects to life. While nothing is for certain in Hollywood, at least the Queens rapper has plenty of experience with successful media up to this point, such as the Power and BMF TV shows. We wonder whether he will continue to expand his resumé with other styles of narrative and thematic focuses or if he’s as down as ever to dive deeper into a specific MC.

Of course, given some of Yungeen Ace’s tribulations, antics, and beefs in the rap game, a movie on his life would be pretty eventful to say the least. But it’s a good thing that there are actually less reasons for it to happen. For example, he seemingly squashed his beef with Foolio after his shooting, and this brought an end to their very public disputes, call-outs, and fighting words. After a lot of turmoil, it’s nice that what was once a movie for bad reasons can settle down and aim for something greater.

Meanwhile, Fif is happily commentating on pretty much any and everything in the rap game these days, such as Chris Brown’s beef with Quavo. Do you think he’ll respond to this request? Whatever the case may be, drop your takes in the comments section down below. Also, stay logged into HNHH for the latest news and more updates on 50 Cent and Yungeen Ace.

Police are looking for 19-year-old Adrian Cameron Jr. for the fatal shooting of Chris King in Nashville on Saturday. Cameron is reportedly out on bond for the September 2021 murder of Josh Evans.

Trey Songz Settles $25 Million Lawsuit: What We Know

In the last decade or so, Trey Songz has been attached to one lawsuit or the other.  The R&B singer has found himself caught in an endless series of legal battles over the past few years. It won’t be a stretch to say that these allegations have all but overshadowed his music career. The most recent of these, a lawsuit from two years ago was recently settled out of court and probably cost Trey Songz an ample sum of money.

What Did Trey Songz Do?

News of the lawsuit against Trey Songz first broke in February 2022. A woman, identified in court documents as “Jane Doe,” stepped forward with allegations against the “I Invented Sex” singer. She claimed that Trey Songz had allegedly sexually assaulted her at a party in 2016. This reportedly set off a chain of events that would unfold over the next few years before she eventually decided to sue.

In the lawsuit, she admitted having a consensual relationship with Trey Songz before the incident. According to her report, Songz invited her to his room upstairs at a house party in Los Angeles. Soon after, he allegedly proceeded to coerce her into having anal sex with him. However, when she kept turning him down, Songz allegedly became angry and got physically aggressive. Specifically, she alleged that Songz pinned her to the ground, tore off her clothes, and committed the act even as she pleaded with him to stop. The suit also included reports of a sexual assault exam conducted on the woman at an Emergency Care Unit in Burbank.

But his abuse didn’t end there that night. Jane Doe also revealed that she had crossed paths with Trey Songz again in New York. She insists that she was subjected to further humiliation from the singer. According to her, Songz had resorted to name-calling and had even sicced his security guards on her.

The Lawsuit Against Trey Songz

At first, it seemed as if Trey Songz would be left off scot-free as Jane Doe’s initial $20 million civil lawsuit hit a snag. His legal team argued that the claim had exceeded the statute of limitations. However, the woman in question refused to back down. She came back swinging again in 2023, upping the settlement costs to $25 million, and doubling down on her accusations. Additionally, she filed a lawsuit against Trey Songz’s manager Kevin Liles.

As the news emerged, the public couldn’t help but weigh in. Trey’s fans, loyal to the core, struggled to reconcile the image of their favorite heartthrob with the troubling allegations swirling around him. Meanwhile, skeptics and gossip mongers had a field day dissecting every detail of the scandal, and how the allegations tie in so well with other assault allegations brought against him in the past.

Other Allegations

Trey Songz has been accused of sexual and physical assault on and off since at least 2012. In fact, at the time of the first lawsuit in 2022, Trey Songz was facing allegations from two different women. One of the allegations was from a woman identified as Jahaura Jeffries. This concerned a 2018 New Years Eve party incident that took place at rapper Diddy’s home on Star Island.

Some of these allegations have also come from women in the public eye. The popular actress Keke Palmer has been vocal about her run-in with Songz in the past. She accused him of sexual harassment and intimidation in 2017 after he used a video clip she did not consent to recording in his music video for “Pick Up The Phone.” Palmer also claimed that she had to hide in a closet when his attempts allegedly began to get aggressive. WNBA player Dylan Gonzalez also came out in January 2022 to accuse Songz of allegedly assaulting her in a Las Vegas hotel.

The Settlement

Trey Songz’s legal team reached out to the courts not long after conditionally settling the lawsuit out of court. This occurred in April for an undisclosed amount. The legal document, as reported by Radar Online, read: “The settlement agreement conditions dismissal of this matter on the satisfactory completion of specified terms that are not to be performed within 45 days of the date of the settlement. A request for dismissal will be filed no later than June 10, 2024.” This means that the trial date which had previously been set for September 16, 2024 will now be vacated.

Sheff G Released From Prison After Posting Bond

Sheff G returned to Instagram on Sunday (April 21) to share some heartening news for fans: following a gun possession case and an indictment against him, Sleepy Hallow, and many others on gang allegations, he is now once again a free man. “10 MILL BOND , 1.5 MILL CASH BAIL WAS THE TICKET‼,” he captioned his post. “BAIL PAID SAME DAY ARE YOU DUMB, SHEFF G BACK‼ NEW YORK. WE FUCKING LITTTTT THEY COUNTED ME OUT!! THEY THOUGHT I WAS DONE , PEACE AND LOVE TO YALL LOL. ( WINNERSCIRCLE IM W THE STARS BABY. YOU CAN COME AND EAT W US YOU AINT GOTTA STARVEE BABYYYYYYY #FREETHEGUYZ #BAILOUTBOYZZZZZ.”

Furthermore, the Flatbush drill MC also posted some proof of all this with some screenshots that attested to his $10 million bond and $1.5 million cash bail, posted the same day. In addition, this post also included some videos of his return, which see him in very good spirits all things considered. Overall, it’s heartening to see that Sheff G overcame this part of his life and career at least for now, and hopefully he and his associates stay out of trouble. This is true especially for other rappers, as he recently squashed beef with Nas EBK and Smooky MarGielaa, even performing together at Rikers.

Of course, Sheff G unfortunately faced a lot of accusations about his alleged involvement in gang activity. This is an issue that many folks historically attributed to New York drill, a scene that also has a tough time receiving the proper support and guidance due to this bias. Regardless, it’s unfortunately not something exclusive to rap. Some major changes well beyond the scope of music are necessary to improve the city’s socioeconomic conditions, incentivize good behavior, defend their freedom of speech, and prevent harm and violence as much as possible.

Meanwhile, this release follows that of Sleepy Hallow last year, one that Sheff anticipated by promising his own very soon after. After 14 months, that promise finally came true. We’ll see what these returns to the rap game and to everyday life look like moving forward, and wish them the best path possible. For more news and the latest updates on Sheff G, log back into HNHH.

Michael Porter Jr.’s Brother Coban Porter Sentenced To Six Years In Prison For Fatal DUI

The Brother of Denver Nuggets star Michael Porter Jr. is now sentenced to six years in prison for a fatal DUI. Overall, Coban Porter was found guilty of DUI vehicular homicide after pleading guilty to the charges. Porter entered a plea agreement earlier this year and admitted to the crime of crashing into and killing Kathy Rothman. Additionally, Porter admitted to driving drunk in the early hours of the morning on January 22nd. After running a red light, Porter crashed into the victim’s driver’s side.

As part of his plea deal, Coban Porter will serve six years in prison. He could have served up to eight years, but the judge sentenced him to two different charges that will run concurrently. Rothman was a mother and Uber Driver and was working the night she was killed by Porter. Connie Johnson, Rothman’s mother, said of the ruling, “This pain and trauma has become my worst reality.” She continued, “My life ended along with my sweet, innocent daughter.” The victim’s family has filed two other lawsuits. One lawsuit alleges the bar Coban Porter was at overserved him.

“You have clearly been called upon, for lack of a better phrase, to make good on this tragedy,” said Denver District Court Judge Ericka Englert, speaking to Coban Porter. “Do what you can to use this opportunity to educate others” about the dangers of driving drunk.” Englert also added that the fact that Coban seems like a good person adds to the tragedy of the case. In their testimony, Coban Porter’s family and friends praised him as a good person and gifted basketball player. Additionally, they described him as a man of real regret, kindness, and compassion.

During his freshman year in 2021–2022, Coban Porter started eight games for the University of Denver basketball team. Coban admitted in his testimony that this wasn’t the first time he had driven drunk. Additionally, he said the crime was not an accident. “All I can really say is ‘I’m sorry,’” Porter said. “I hope that somehow, someway, I’ll be able to make a difference.” Additionally, Jontay Porter, brother of Michal and Coban, was recently banned from the NBA for life for violating the league’s betting policies.

Donald Trump Trial: Man Sets Himself On Fire Outside Courthouse

Today, chaos unfolded outside of the Manhattan courthouse where Donald Trump’s trial is taking place. The former president has pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records in relation to the alleged $130K payment he’s accused of making to adult actress Stormy Daniels. Allegedly, the payment was made in exchange for Daniels’ silence on an alleged affair, which Trump denies.

Around the time that the jury was empaneled, and just before a lunch break, a man set himself on fire outside of the courthouse. The man was reportedly located in a designated protest area when the act took place, and several witnesses looked on in horror. At the time of writing, it remains unclear whether or not this was directly related to Trump or the trial. Law enforcement sources tell NBC News that the man appeared to be an alleged follower of unspecified conspiracy theories and that he may have also been struggling with “emotional issues.”

A 73-year-old witness named Dave from the Upper West Side saw the shocking incident unfold, and says he watched the man throw various pamphlets before picking them back up again. “I heard this clattering,” he recalled. “That caught our attention. Then he pulled out a can.” From there, the man reportedly poured something on himself and took out a lighter. “There I thought, this could be awful,” Dave also explained. “I’m old enough to remember the Vietnam War.” According to Dave, the man then lit himself on fire and was quickly engulfed in flames.

Another witness, freelance photojournalist Ed Quinn, says he heard someone shout that the man was getting ready to start the fire. “I see him dumping gasoline on his face, very deliberately,” he described. “He had [a] gray t-shirt on. It soaked his face. It soaked his shirt. Boom, he went up.” According to NBC, the man was sent off in an ambulance in critical condition. What do you think of the latest development in Trump’s trial? NBA YoungBoy’s Pre-Trial Release At Risk As He’s Sent Back To Baton Rouge After Arrest

Earlier this week, NBA YoungBoy was arrested after a raid of his Utah home, which he’s dubbed Grave Digger Mountain. At the time, it was reported that he was taken into custody due to “patterns of unlawful activity, procuring or attempting to procure drugs, identity fraud, forgery, possession of controlled substances, and possession of a dangerous weapon.” Today, new details about his case emerged, revealing that most of his charges stem from an alleged prescription drug fraud scheme.

Essentially, officials accuse YB and his crew of calling in prescriptions using real doctors’ names. One suspicious pharmacist tipped off the police. The arrest has led to a lot of questions about what’s next for the rapper, who’s been on house arrest in Utah for two years. He’s awaiting his upcoming trial in Louisiana on a previous gun possession charge. Of course, this latest development was expected to impact his pre-trial release in some way. It looks like officials aren’t wasting any time.

Today, a federal judge signed a request from prosecutors to schedule a bond revocation hearing and ordered that he be held in custody until it’s scheduled. If she ends up determining that YB violated the terms of his pre-trial release, she could order him to be held until his trial. Moreover, the performer has to kiss Grave Digger Mountain goodbye for now. He’s been sent back to his hometown of Baton Rouge, LA where he must remain until he learns his fate.

What do you think of NBA YoungBoy’s recent arrest? What about the rapper having to go back to Baton Rouge? Do you think he’ll end up having to await trial behind bars? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Tavion Koonce-Williams, 15, Shot By Akron Police Over Fake Gun: What We Know

Evidently, police brutality and racial profiling is still very much alive. Tavion Koonce-Williams, a 15-year-old teen, was shot by an Akron, Ohio police officer on April 1st, 2024. This is yet another terrible case of the police looking for an excuse to shoot a Black boy. Why? Because Akron PD claims the boy was shot for wielding a “Facsimile Firearm.” However, the innocent boy was simply holding a toy gun.

This story, like many others across the United States, reminds the world at large of the consistent profiling of Black youth. Notably, Ohio has an existing history with trigger-happy cops. Take the case of 12-year-old Tamir Rice, who was killed in 2014 for possessing a pellet gun. Although Tavion Koonce-Williams is still alive, things could have taken a more serious turn.

What Happened With Tavion Koonce-Williams?

A female 911 caller claimed she saw a Black male pointing a gun at houses on Tonawanda Avenue and Newton Street. Officer Westlake, the responding police officer in the area, went to check it out. There, he found Tavion at an intersection on Brittain Road and Ottawa Avenue. The events of what happened from the released body camera video by Akron’s Mayor Malik show Officer Westlake pulling up next to Tavion and asking, “Where you coming from? Can I see your hands?”

Westlake then gets out of his police car, pointing his gun at Tavion. Only three and a half seconds later, he fires one shot, hitting Tavion in the wrist. Tavion drops to the ground screaming, “It’s fake, it’s fake!” while holding his hands up. The policeman subsequently handcuffs him. Upon inspecting the gun and realizing it was a fake, the officer put a tourniquet on Tavion’s bleeding wrist.

Tavion’s Family Speaks Out

Tavion’s mom, Angel Williams, while speaking at a press conference, said this was “very, very traumatizing” for their whole family. His dad, James Koonce, said he’s “deeply hurt by the trauma” this has caused and that it will “affect his life forever.” Furthermore, their representing lawyer, Imokhai Okolo, has made it clear that the family wishes for Westlake to be immediately removed from the force. Moreover, they believe he also should be charged in court. He also brought up the decade-old police killing of Tamir Rice, who, similarly, had a toy gun. Okolo then asked how a child could get “gunned down” when following the officer’s orders with his hands up.

Community leaders in Akron are also in unison with their demands that the officer be let go from the force. The Akron NAACP president said that, while Tavion shouldn’t have had a toy gun, the “trained” officer should not have shot a 15-year-old kid. Ray Greene Jr., from the group Freedom BLOC, also said that the police “de-escalate and don’t kill white children every day,” but the case was different for Black kids. Unsurprisingly, he also wants Westlake terminated for the shooting of Tavion Koonce-Williams.

The Officer’s Disciplinary Past

Records show that in 2021, Westlake was fired for pulling his gun on his girlfriend while drunk and using slurs. However, he was rehired the next day after the police union got involved. The union defended Westlake, saying he subsequently followed his training when making that “split-second deadly force decision.” This has now raised questions about the union’s role in defending police officers who stray. It also strengthens the case that Westlake could have ended up killing Tavion Koonce-Williams.

What’s Next?

An independent state investigation by BCI is ongoing and will head over to the Ohio Attorney General’s office, as well as the grand jury. The Akron police internal affairs will also investigate the case to decide if any policies were broken. This shooting of a Black teenager over a fake gun has people outraged about the heightened racism in the police force. The people want transparency and accountability from a department with a repetitive history. Tavion Koonce-Williams’ life is forever changed, as the young teenager has become part of a larger statistic of the biases that make children of color feel unsafe.
