Rihanna’s 2014 IG Post That Put PUMA Shoe Design In Public Domain, Denied Trademark Protection

There are not too many more iconic pairings in the music and fashion world than Rihanna and PUMA. They have been together for just about a decade now, which is kind of crazy to think it has not been longer. The multicultural multi-hyphenate has done a lot for the athletic wear and shoe brand over the years. However, that is not to say that it has all gone smoothly, even though nothing really does. According to HipHopDX, PUMA is still having no luck getting a trademark approved with the European Union’s Intellectual Property Office.

This all began on signing day for the R&B legend, which was in late 2014. Rihanna posted that she was inking her deal to become PUMA’s creative director on her Instagram with the caption, “on the dotted line. #PUMA” However, she made one crucial mistake by including her shoes in the photo. That put the unreleased show with the original ethos out into the public domain one year prior to the registration being filed in 2016. Essentially, she disclosed the design, leaving it open to be taken up by someone else, rendering a patent useless.

Dutch shoe wholesaler J.H. van Hilst won the case in 2016, but PUMA was adamant to get the original ruling overturned. Unfortunately, it was shot down once again. The argument against PUMA was that because of Rihanna’s status, many people could have taken interest in her clothing. The one silver lining in this is that this only pertains to Europe, not the United States.

What are your thoughts on PUMA’s patent getting denied again after Rihanna shared a shoe design back in 2014? Are you surprised or not that she is still working with the brand even after that mistake? Do you think PUMA should give up on trying to fix this, why or why not? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding PUMA and Rihanna. Doja Cat Gets Restraining Order Against Brother Denied

If you’ve been up to date on what Doja Cat is up to online, you might have seen some concerning news about her brother. Moreover, Raman Dlamini allegedly stole from her and engaged in physically and mental abuse, and also received similar accusations of poor treatment towards their mother, Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer. Her restraining order against him expired, but she’s since gained a new one that will last five years. However, when it comes to the Scarlet superstar, the court reportedly denied a permanent restraining order in her favor against her brother, per AllHipHop. At press time, it’s unclear exactly what prompted this refusal or what grounds it stands on, as this didn’t come with an exoneration or excuse for her brother’s alleged behavior.

Furthermore, these claims come from Doja Cat’s mother, who claimed Raman Dlamini engaged in these crimes “several times” and made them feel “unsafe.” Another allegation concerning this is that the 30-year-old male destroyed property belonging to his 28-year-old sister. “Raman has destroyed and stolen property,” the original filing regarding Doja Cat and her mother read. “Raman has verbally assaulted [Doja] in a very degrading and demeaning [manner]. [He] has made her feel unsafe and traumatized.” In addition, Sawyer claimed that Raman’s actions led to “constant anxiety and fear” in their lives.

For what it’s worth, Doja Cat’s brother previously denied all these allegations. This occurred when a reporter found him out in the open and asked him about it, for which he had strong words. Not only did Raman deny that there was any abuse involved, but he also suggested that he hasn’t spoken to his family in years. As such, this is still a pretty muddy case, especially given the discrepancy between the acceptance and denial of two different restraining orders.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles native recently teased a deluxe version of her latest album, which has fans very excited. Still, this paints any activity from a career standpoint in a darker light. It must be difficult to handle a situation like this with so many other pressures on you. For more news and the latest updates on Doja Cat, check back in with HNHH.

Jam Master Jay Trial Judge Denies Defense’s Motion For Mistrial

The trial for the murder of Jam Master Jay over 20 years ago is ramping up at a steady pace, with witness testimonies, questioning, and more evidence. However, according to the Associated Press, it seems like it overcame its first major speed bump recently, as the defense motioned for a mistrial and alleged that the prosecution exhibited misconduct. Moreover, these accusations relate to prosecutors’ questioning of a witness, which defense attorneys believe planted “a seed of prejudice” in the proceeding. As the court discussed this on Thursday (February 8), the judge realized that, regardless, they could still stay on track.

Furthermore, Judge LaShann DeArcy Hall denied the defense’s motion for mistrial in New York on Thursday. While she chastised the prosecution for their lines of questioning, she let the trial go on as planned and believe it won’t affect the outcome of the case. What’s more is that Hall even told the jury to ignore prosecutors’ questions and focus solely on the main point at hand: the murder of Jam Master Jay. Previously, she ruled that lyrics will not be admissible as evidence in this trial, Many saw as a solid victory no matter the verdict, given the controversy surrounding this practice.

For those unaware, Karl Jordan Jr. and Ronald Washington are accused of carrying out the crime back in 2002. Washington’s ex-girlfriend Daynia McDonald testified on Thursday, adding to other emotional testimonies in the Jam Master Jay trial. She stated that Washington “basically said yes” when asked whether he was involved in the crime, and this is when the prosecution’s questioning got them in hot water. “Did he say he killed Jam Master Jay? Did he say that people get what they deserve?” they reportedly asked, which prompted the defense to claim misconduct. Nevertheless, McDonald endorsed both sentiments, and while the jury was out of the courtroom, Judge Hall reprimanded the prosecutors.

When the jury returned, she allowed for them to ask McDonald whether Washington “said anything else about [the] murder,” and she responded with “He just said that he killed him.” For what it’s worth, prosecutors claimed that witnesses would like out of fear of retaliation. So far at press time, nothing emerged to suggest that there were inconsistencies or faults in these testimonies. Kevin Hart’s Tasha K Restraining Order Request Shot Down By Judge

In December, Kevin Hart filed a lawsuit against Tasha K, accusing the gossip blogger of extortion. She previously sat down with his ex-assistant, Miesha Shakes, for a damning interview. In the interview, Shakes accused Hart of cheating on his wife, having a gambling problem, and more. According to him, Tasha K and her team allegedly later threatened to release the full interview if he didn’t pay her $250K.

Reportedly, the comedian refused. Hart went on to file for a temporary restraining order against Tasha K this month, accusing her of tarnishing his reputation with the interview. “Working in the entertainment industry, my livelihood depends in large part on my reputation and the public’s perception of me. That perception is of particular concern in light of the fact that I am involved in a number of family-oriented projects, such as the Jumanji franchise, FatherhoodCaptain UnderpantsThe Secret Life of Pets, and others,” the filing reads.

Judge Claims Hart’s Motion Was Too “Vague”

Now, however, his request has been denied. According to Rolling Stone, Judge Mitchell L. Beckloff argued that Hart’s request lacked important details necessary for him to grant the temporary restraining order. “Part of the problem I have is that there are no direct quotes of what occurred in the hour-and-a-half interview,” Beckloff said, calling Hart’s motion “just a really vague, over-broad request that doesn’t address actual malice.”

Hart’s lawyer Donte Mills proceeded to argue with the judge to no avail. “There’s no questioning them. There are things said by the speakers that are illegal. It’s defamatory, it’s extortion, and it absolutely shows malice on their part,” he explained. “Not once was there ever any claim stating that my client committed a crime until this video. I think that’s important. Adultery is one thing, but adultery is not illegal.” What do you think of Kevin Hart’s request for a restraining order against Tasha K getting denied? What about him accusing her of extortion? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Tory Lanez Denied Bail Amid Appeal In Megan Thee Stallion Shooting Incident

The court denied Tory Lanez his motion for bail in his case for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, bringing an end to his legal team’s efforts. Now, as originally set out in the Canadian artist’s sentence, he will continue his appeal process while serving his ten-year prison sentence from behind bars. Said news comes via reporter Meghann Cuniff, who provided constant updates on this trial during most of its time in the public eye. Moreover, the motion maintained that Lanez “does not pose a danger to the community” and that the attack was “an isolated incident.” His legal team sought to secure his release within Los Angeles to continue working for his family.

However, this attempt was likely not ever going to pan out, according to entertainment attorney Michael Freedman, who spoke to Cuniff on Wednesday. As such, this news isn’t too surprising, although it does make Tory Lanez’s situation much more difficult. Of course, there’s still the possibility that he will undergo a successful appeal process. While things aren’t over for the Alone At Prom star, he still has a lot of accountability to take and reckon with.

Tory Lanez Will Continue His Appeal From Behind Bars

Unfortunately, Tory Lanez’s prison time already made him miss out on a tragic event in his life. His friend Alexa, the inspiration for the aforementioned album, passed away, and he took to Instagram to honor her memory. “ALEXA … a close friend to me and so many,” the 31-year-old wrote. “A beautiful soul, and the muse that revolutionized Alone At Prom. We laughed, we worked, we partied, and shared many deep conversations and moments together. I should have been there to stop this from happening.

“It hurts more that I was not able to say my final goodbyes at your Ceremony of Life,” he concluded. “But I Promise to make your legacy live on. You meant so much to so many of us. May your imprint be stamped on the world forever as you Rest in Paradise. S.I.P The Lady of Namek.” For more news and the latest updates on Tory Lanez, stay posted on HNHH.

Marjorie Harvey Calls Cheating Rumours About Husband Steve “Foolishness And Lies”

After giving her husband, Steve, an opportunity to clear the air, Marjorie Harvey is now addressing the cheating rumours that surfaced surrounding the couple this past weekend. As expected, the 58-year-old handled the drama with complete class, even leaving her Instagram followers laughing with her witty response. On Sunday (August 27) night, her feed lit up with a screenshot of an article titled, “How to Handle Being Lied About.” At the bottom of the screenshot, a Bible verse reads, “When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.”

In her caption, Marjorie added, “My husband and I don’t usually stop to address all the foolishness and lies that have been spread about us. However, to whom much is given much is required.” The mother of three acknowledged that, as a woman with a platform, she feels a certain level of public responsibility when her name becomes a trending topic.

Marjorie Harvey isn’t Here for the Drama

“Read and share this with your love ones that may not know how to properly cope. God Bless all of you 🙏🏾😍,” her message concluded. For his part, Steve kept it much simpler when addressing the infidelity rumours in the media. “We fine,” the Family Feud host insisted before his wife doubled down on the message. Interestingly, the family patriarch was also facing backlash for a tweet sent out by his social media team about “unfunny comedians” around the same time, which he reportedly fired someone over.

This isn’t the only time that Marjorie Harvey’s posts have made headlines, especially not when it comes to relationships. Following her daughter, Lori’s unexpected split from Michael B. Jordan last year, the socialite raised eyebrows when sharing a message about running away from toxicity on IG. Young Thug Debunks Saweetie Diss On New Album “BUSINESS IS BUSINESS”

Even though this wasn’t a diss as people thought, it does answer some interesting questions people had about BUSINESS IS BUSINESS. Moreover, Young Thug recently stated via Twitter that a line that many thought was directed at Saweetie on his new album actually didn’t take aim at her at all. “My n***a ain’t even tryna hit sweetie,” Thug raps on the track “Want Me Dead.” Furthermore, it seems like a lot of people thought that he actually mentioned the California rapper. It was just a case of mishearing the line thanks to there not being a word like “a,” “the,” “my,” and so on before “sweetie.” “Her name is Saweetie,” Thugger tweeted. “I said sweetie. #BusinessIsBusiness.”

Given the Atlanta trap pioneer’s expressive inflections and unique tone, it’s easy to confuse lines from him. However, his clarification points to a few other rumors surrounding BUSINESS IS BUSINESS‘s release. For starters, many wondered how much of these new tracks were freshly recorded during his incarceration. He now confirmed that probably many of these have a couple of years on the shelf. More importantly, though, fans wonder whether Young Thug will clarify whether he meant to diss Gunna on tracks like “Jonesboro,” where he talks about snitching. Since he’s in jail, it’s unlikely that he recorded a specific verse for it. Still, now that he cleared one alleged diss up, why not another? And what does it mean if he doesn’t?

A post shared by The Shade Room (@theshaderoom)

Well, the reason why is likely because of his YSL partner’s plea deal. Its legal ramifications likely bar significant contact between the two, as some pointed out. On the other hand of that argument, Wunna’s done plenty to shout out Young Thug and reach him indirectly. Also, Thugger once linked Gunna’s music on his IG bio and then deleted it. At the moment, it seems like the relationship between the two is assumed to be at least amicably at arm’s length as fans continue to speculate. For example, an alleged leak voice call from the 31-year-old to Lil Baby and Lil Durk asking for them to respond to Gunna’s alleged disses was called fake by Thug’s sister.

Meanwhile, even that hasn’t convinced people that there’s bad blood brewing. That’s certainly true for Gunna’s relationship with other artists, but not necessarily with Thugger himself. While many hope we’ll get true answers soon, those won’t likely be coming anytime soon. Regardless, log back into HNHH for the latest news on Young Thug and Saweetie.

Rick Ross Reacts To Officials Denying Car & Bike Show Event Permit: “It Must Go On”

Rick Ross won’t take no for an answer. As the Biggest Boss has been busy preparing for his upcoming annual car and bike show, his plans have been hit with a major roadblock. Documents obtained by XXL on Tuesday (May 16) reveal that his permit has been denied by Fayette County, who are prohibiting him from hosting the event at his Georgia mansion on June 3. The specific reason for the denial is that the permit “is not in compliance with Fayette County Zoning Ordinance.”

“Any decision to allow the 2022 event to move forward as a conditional use in the A-R Zoning District was made outside of the scope of authority of the then acting Director of Planning & Zoning/ Zoning Administrator,” the document further states. Ross has been talking about the event non-stop (particularly during his recent Drink Champs interview) and clearly isn’t letting the bureaucratic rain ruin his parade. He took to his Instagram Story this afternoon, letting fans know he has no plans of cancelling.

Rick Ross Responds to Denied Event Permit

“Breaking news, the Rick Ross Car Show June 3 goes on,” the Richer Than I Ever Been artist declared hours ago. “It’s a private event on private property with VIPs and you’re invited. Tickets are still available online. It’s going to be a beautiful event. Shoutout to the beautiful city of Fayetteville.” Rather than letting the denial get him down, the Mississippi-born lyricist is embracing the challenges coming his way as he moves forward.

“This when I become great during the challenges. That’s what I like. That’s why I was always one to initiate certain things because I love the challenge. I don’t have a problem going against the challenges because Ricky Rozay ready. Is it really a challenge?” he asked followers tuning in. Tory Lanez’s New Trial Motion Denied, Rapper’s Attorneys Seeks To Have Judge Dismissed

Despite his attempts to plead with Judge David Herriford to not “ruin his life” ahead of today’s ruling, it’s been decided that Tory Lanez will not receive a retrial in his case with Megan Thee Stallion. The embattled R&B star has been behind bars since late last yea. At the time, he was found guilty of shooting the Houston-born rap diva back in 2020. He’s obviously been maintaining his innocence. Elsewhere, Megan has finally been speaking out about her thoughts on the situation. She recently wrote a lengthy essay for Elle in which she declared her intentions to no longer publicly speak about her trauma.

Word of Lanez’s denial came on Tuesday (May 9), from reporter Meghann Cuniff who previously covered the original proceedings. According to her daily Twitter thread, things were off to a bumpy start at the LA Superior Court. Everyone in attendance was faced with delays, setting an undeniably sour tone. “It’s now 11 and there’s no word at all about when we might get to go into the courtroom for this 10:30 hearing Judge Herriford set yesterday after hearing *five hours* of argument on the motion,” she vented earlier this afternoon.

Tory Lanez Denied Second Trial

Shortly after, Cuniff returned with confirmation of the denied motions, along with some other news. “In a jaw-dropping move, Lanez’s lawyers filed a motion to disqualify Judge Herriford from [the recording artist’s] case,” the reporter dished in a tweet. “Then told the judge they didn’t think he could issue his ruling until the motion was resolved. Herriford disagreed,” her message ended.

Although the news is certainly good for Thee Stallion, who’s looking to put the past behind her, it seems as though the father of one isn’t planning on going down without a fight. His attorneys challenged each one of the seven arguments addressed by Herriford in court and will return later this afternoon to give their final comments. Are you surprised that Tory Lanez’s motion for a retrial has been denied? Let us know in the comments, and tap back in later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Freddie Gibbs Denies The Fit Mami’s Claims About Paying For His Cell: “I Ain’t Got No Phone”

Rather than playing into the drama currently being created by his ex-girlfriend (and future baby mama) on social media, Freddie Gibbs is keeping his cool. If you’ve been on Twitter today, you may have seen the star’s unfortunate new nickname, “Spreadie Gibbs” trending. The moniker was bestowed upon him after Destini, the woman he formerly dated who’s now pregnant with his child, told her followers that she allegedly has NSFW images of Gibbs showing off his behind in her camera roll.

It seems the Indiana native opted to cut her out of his life completely after she turned to social media to vent about their situation earlier this week. During their time together, the adult entertainer says she and Gibbs both expressed interest in starting a family and that she was even paying for his phone bill. When a wild night of lovemaking actually led to conception, however, the 40-year-old changed his mind, making it clear that he’s not ready to be a father at this time. After getting wind of Destini – also known as The Fit Mami – and her Twitter exposé, Freddie apparently blocked her, choosing to address the situation with a brief tweet on Friday (May 5).

Freddie Gibbs Responds to His Ex

“I ain’t got no phone,” the father of one wrote in an attempt to refute his former partner’s allegations. Of course, it wasn’t long before trolls began pouring into the replies with their thoughts. “Yeah, we know bro,” one of them quipped. “She stopped paying 💀.” Others couldn’t resist but bring up “Spreadie Gibbs,” further taunting the embattled lyricist over the rumours.

One fan asked him, “Gangsta Gibbs they said you was spreadin’ eagle. Tell me it ain’t true,” though the “Crime Pays” hitmaker neither confirmed nor denied that gossip specifically. “Man the next album about to be extraordinary,” someone else speculated. Clearly, the world is looking forward to the follow-up to 2022’s $oul $old $eparately. Keep scrolling to see Twitter’s reaction to Freddie Gibbs’ short and simple response to his ex’s allegations. If you’re not already caught up on the tea, you can read TheFitMami’s lengthy rants about their relationship here and here.
