Cardi B Comes Up In Star Brim’s Gang Trial For Racketeering

Star Brim currently awaits sentencing in a New York court after pleading guilty to two racketeering charges in her case. Moreover, she asked her judge to give her no prison time on Wednesday (February 14), according to legal documents reportedly obtained by AllHipHop. Brim and her legal team made the case that she’s long moved on from being the “godmother” of the 5-9 Brims gang in the city. During these arguments, they brought up her close relationship with Cardi B as an example of her other ventures that prove that she’s learned from her mistakes. However, we’ll see how receptive the court is to this plea.

“Although Star clearly has a long history of arrests, she is somewhat unique in that she has always worked at low-paying jobs and has always supported herself independent of gang activities,” Star Brim’s attorney remarked to the judge. “She has never succumbed to the expected trappings of gang life, she never used or sold drugs or consumed alcohol. Despite having virtually no formal education, she obtained a GED in 2012. [She] has worked at a series of low-paying jobs since 2007. Since the birth of her child in early March 2020, Star has completely changed her life around.

“She has matured and grown into a wonderful, caring mother who is essentially the sole provider for her child,” Star Brim’s lawyer went on. “She is devoted and hard-working. Like any parent, [she] wants the best for her child. She recognizes the very real likelihood of separation from JS. [That is] something that would be devastating if the Court imposes a jail sentence. Her child will necessarily have to live with his father, which would be a huge adjustment and undoubtedly traumatic. Star works hard at a number of different endeavors, to provide her child with the life she wants for him. Despite the obstacles that people with criminal convictions face as they try to enter the workforce, Star has worked continually since her release from prison in 2019… She is currently employed as a residential aide at a men’s shelter in Brooklyn.

“Her Instagram presence grew tremendously because of her friendship with Belcalis Almanzar, better known as Cardi B,” they added. “Throughout the years, Star has developed skin care products, advertised other products and became an ‘influencer.’ [That] has allowed her to earn additional income.” Brim gets sentenced on Wednesday (February 21) and hopes to receive probation. Las Vegas Judge Attacker Deobra Redden In Court Again On Separate Charges After Sentencing

Very few victims have the opportunity to sentence their attackers in court, but on Monday (January 8), Judge Mary Kay Holthus once again came face to face with Deobra Redden while seated comfortably at her bench. 2024 began on a wild note in Las Vegas, as the latter lunged at the former during a court hearing for attempted battery conviction charges last week. The incident led to time spent in isolation, as well as a “2C” inmate classification. This is the most restriction an inmate at Clark County Jail can receive, TMZ reports.

When returning to Nevada court this week, the alleged criminal had guards on each side of him, covers on his hands, and a mesh face mask. Even with the past tension between them, Holthus kept her composure during sentencing. She agreed with prosecutors in giving Redden a 19-48 month sentence for the battery incident. Today (January 9), he’s speaking with a different judge in regard to his latest crimes, for which he’s facing 13 charges.

Judge Mary Kay Holthus Sentences Her Attacker in Las Vegas

According to FOX 5 Vegas, Redden has a long list of felony counts against him. Attempted murder against an older person, battery on a protected person resulting in substantial bodily harm against an older person, and extortion are all named. Elsewhere, prosecutors say the inmate is guilty of unlawful act regarding fluid by a prisoner in confinement, and battery by a probationer or parolee. “In the next few days, my office will be reviewing all of the reports to determine what charges to bring based on Mr. Redden’s behaviour in court,” Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson told the outlet. “We’re reviewing all the reports, the witness statements, the extent of the injuries suffered by persons, certainly felony charges without a doubt.”

The past few months have been particularly busy in the crime world, with the YSL RICO trial, YNW Melly’s impending double murder retrial, and Jonathan Majors’ guilty verdict among topics making headlines. Unfortunately for the Florida native, his day in court has been postponed, meaning he’ll be spending even more time awaiting his fate in a cell. Read the latest on Melly at the link below, and check back later for any updates on the situation in Las Vegas.

G Herbo Sentencing Date Reportedly Moving To Early 2024

Agreeing to a plea deal isn’t easy for any rapper to do, especially after witnessing the ridicule Gunna faced for signing one in his YSL RICO case. However, G Herbo felt it was best for him and his family to follow in the “fukumean” artist’s footsteps with his own wire fraud and identity theft investigation back in the summer. The Chicago rapper and his crew were arrested in December 2020, at which time they were indicted on fourteen charges. Among them were “booking trips, services, and other luxurious purchases while using stolen identities” on numerous occasions.

In addition, Herbo was in police custody in July 2023 due to illegal gun possession, only potentially worsening what lies ahead at his sentencing. Before accepting a plea, he was looking at up to 20 years in prison. Interestingly, the lyricist was in trouble again for lying to federal agents about his fraud case in 2021 after denying his guilt. As 2023 comes to a close, many thought Herb might have answers by now, but according to @ChicagoScene88 until Twitter, he’ll get to spend the holiday season with his children before heading to court in the new year.

G Herbo May Get to Spend Christmas with His Kids

“G Herbo’s (NLMB) sentencing is moving forward to January 11, 2024,” they announced on Sunday (November 19). It’s unclear exactly what caused the delay, though social media users are pointing out that Herbo will be happy to have more time to secure funds to bulk up his commissary money through posting advertisements on his Instagram page. “That boy Herb been getting that commissary money ready, all them damn weed promos,” one person commented on @akademiks’ page.

It’s already been almost six months since G Herbo accepted a plea deal in his wire fraud and identity theft case, but still, the “Chi-raq” collaborator is waiting on the final details of how much time he’ll be serving for his crimes. Read more about the agreement between the embattled rapper and prosecutors at the link below, and leave your estimate as to what his sentence will be in the comments.

Blueface Claps Back At Shooting Victim For Courtroom Selfie

Yesterday, news hit the internet that Blueface was being sentenced to 24-60 months in jail for a shooting that happened outside a strip club last year. The news didn’t end up being quite as dramatic as it seemed though. The rapper and reality star was handed down a suspended sentence that likely won’t result in any jail time as long as he can stay away from guns and out of trouble while the sentence plays out. The result of the case has to be seen as a victory for the rapper who avoided harsher trouble despite his history with the law.

One of the more viral moments of the sentencing came as a result of the victim of the case. The man who was shot took a selfie in court with both Blueface and his entire legal team in the background. He shared the picture to Twitter and it quickly began making the rounds online. That included the rapper himself who caught the picture and posted his own response. “This man showed up to court told on me just to take a photo with me,” he said in a tweet responding to the situation. Check out the tweet he made and some of the responses to it below.

Blueface Clowns On The Man He Shot

Before his recent sentencing, Blueface had been spending plenty of time with Jaidyn Alexis recently. Yesterday was her birthday and the pair dropped a new video to celebrate. “It’s a real b**ch C-Day today. First Lady of MILF MUSIC, the one y’all love to hate. TURN MY B**CH UP TODAY ON SY,” he said in a tweet celebrating her big day.

Elsewhere Blueface also made it clear what his financial goals are. He spoke recently on wanting “generational wealth” for himself, Alexis, and their two sons. What do you think of Blueface’s response to the man he shot taking a selfie with him in court? Let us know in the comment section below.

Blueface Serving 24 Months Suspended Sentence For Strip Club Shooting, Will Go To Prison If Seen Around Guns

Blueface’s life has been loaded with chaos for the past few months. First, there was the birth of his son with Chrisean Rock – which he wasn’t present for. This was unsurprisingly followed by a bout of drama between his two baby mamas. The 26-year-old has primarily been facing backlash online for posting an NSFW photo of his son’s hernia and genital area (allegedly done by a hacker) on Twitter, and we’re currently waiting to find out if Rock will follow through with her plans to press charges. Speaking of legal matters, Blue was also in court today (October 2) in regard to his 2022 shooting incident at a Las Vegas strip club.

The incident took place last October. At the time, the “Thotiana” rapper was caught on camera shooting at his victim, Kentavious Taylor, in a vehicle. Blue’s consequences could’ve been severe, but the presiding judge was incredibly generous in giving him a 24-month suspended sentence. This essentially gives the California native a chance to prove himself while serving time on probation. Should he complete that period successfully, it’s likely the case will be dismissed without any hard time served.

Blue’s judge made it abundantly clear that if he messes up, she’ll have no problem putting him away. “No, you cannot have guns. There’s no confusion on that point. If you choose to roll with guns, that’s your choice, but I will tell you if you come back here with any probation violations – especially one with weapons – I will not hesitate to put you in prison for a significant period of time. You are playing with your liberty,” she told the embattled star.

It’s been an emotionally tense day for Blueface, but that hasn’t stopped the father of three from taking time to celebrate Jaidyn Alexis. Today (October 2) marks the “Stewie” rapper’s 25th birthday, and to mark the occasion, she and her baby daddy are dropping off a new video later this afternoon. Stefflon Don And Melli Add To List of Tory Lanez Support Letters

In a new Meghann Cuniff article, additional letters in support of Tory Lanez have been unsealed. These new letters come from UK grime artist Stefflon Don and R&B artist Melii. In her letter, Stefflon Do said she was “deeply saddened by the incident that led to Tory’s conviction.” She signed the letter under real name, Stephanie Allen. Additionally, Allen spoke on the impact of her “Senseless” remix with Lanez. “[The song] resonated deeply with our audience and received significant acclaim, climbing the charts and touching the hearts of many listeners,” she wrote. “This achievement stands as a testament to Tory’s artistry and ability to connect with people through music.”

Meanwhile, Melii, who was recently ordered to pay $4 million in relation to a 2017 shooting, also expressed her support for Lanez. “His image he had was more of a character for the industry he’s in. But even through that, his real self always shined through and that’s why we all love him the way we do,” she wrote. “Although this took a turn I ask that you please give Daystar a chance. Give him the opportunity to be home soon and not be seen in such a horrible light.”

Of course, Stefflon Don and Melii are just the most recent voice to back Lanez. The rapper received a 10-year prison sentence earlier this month. Iggy Azalea was publicly mocked for her letter of support. The Australian rapper had reportedly hired Lanez to produce her next album. As a result, she wrote a glowing review of the Toronto MC. However, many saw her letter as hypocritical, given that Azalea has previously accused other performers, namely Playboi Carti, of abusive behavior. Furthermore, Azalea’s letter essentially boiled down to “Tory has never shot me so I think he’s a good person.”

Among the other 75 letters written on Lanez’s behalf was one from Mario. “When Tory first became a father,” the letter says, “I remember a conversation about everything he wanted to leave for his child someday.” “I have never seen Tory act out of character in a manner to hurt someone,” it also reads. “We’ve spoken on the phone many times and prayed with each other. All I can ask and pray for is that he and his son are treated fairly,” the rapper wrote. However, Mario’s letter also received significant backlash on social media. Regardless, the letter didn’t help and Lanez could spend as much as the next decade behind bars.

Megan Thee Stallion’s Full Victim Statement From Tory Lanez Sentencing Surfaces

Although Megan Thee Stallion didn’t attend Tory Lanez’s sentencing, she ensured that her feelings were made clear in court. The Canadian rapper was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion last week. Ahead of his sentencing, the judge received 76 letters of recommendation on Tory’s behalf including one from Iggy Azalea, who asked for a reasonable sentence that wouldn’t completely derail the Canadian rapper’s life. Then, there was the letter from Megan, who said that “his crime warrants the full weight of the law.”

Reporter Meghann Cuniff obtained the full statement from Megan Thee Stallion. The Houston artist explained that she hasn’t “experienced a single day of peace” since she was shot. “I have been tormented and terrorized in every degree by the defendant,” she wrote. “He not only shot me, he made a mockery of my trauma. He tried to position himself as a victim and set out to destroy my character and my soul,” she added.

Megan Thee Stallion’s Victim Statement

Megan Thee Stallion continued to explain that Tory Lanez “lied to anyone that would listen and paid bloggers to disseminate false information about the case on social media.” She also cited music videos and songs that Tory released to “damage my character and continue his crusade.” “Mercy can only be granted to those who accept responsibility for their actions. But not once has the defendant taken accountability,” she continued.

While detailing Tory Lanez’s “tantrum of lies,” she said that he continued to place the blame on everyone but himself since his arrest in 2020. “Today I beg this court to send a message to every victim of domestic violence and fully hold the defendant accountable for his criminal conduct. This is a statement for all survivors that their lives matter and there is zero tolerance for the torture that accompanies violence,” she said. “His crime warrants the full weight of the law. Thank you, your honor,” she concluded. Read Megan Thee Stallion’s full victim statement above.

Megan Thee Stallion Remarks “F*ck All My Haters” During Outside Lands Performance

Megan Thee Stallion called out her haters during her performance at Outside Lands Festival on Sunday. Addressing the audience, she remarked that nothing she’s been through has broken her. The comments come after Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting her back in 2020.

“I just wanna say… Fuck all my haters!” Megan said on stage. “None of that shit you was doing or saying broke me.” She also thanked her fans her their loyal support in recent years. Despite Lanez’s guilty verdict, many voices in hip-hop have cast doubt on Megan’s version of events from the shooting. Drake even rapped, “This bitch lied about getting shots, but she still a stallion” on Her Loss.

During his sentencing, Lanez apologized for the way he acted in the years since the incident. “That night I said some immature things, and let some secrets out. I revealed to them some secrets that I shouldn’t have and for that I apologize, but I can’t change that,” he said in court. Before concluding, he described Megan as his “friend,” and reflected on how they bonded over losing their mothers. “The victim in this case was my friend and she is still my friend even to this day, and we both lost mothers, we used to sit and drink together until we both were numb,” he said.

Megan Thee Stallion Calls Out Haters

A few days later, he clarified on social media he was “in no way shape or form” apologizing for “the charges I’m being wrongfully convicted of.” He explained: “I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do. I’ve faced adversity my whole life and every time it looked like I would lose, I came out on top. This is nothing but another moment where my back is against the wall and I refuse to stop fighting till I come out victorious. Tough times don’t last, tough people do.”

Trinidad James Approves Of Tory Lanez’s 10-Year Sentence, Wants Iggy Azalea To Mind Her Business

It took quite some time, but Tory Lanez finally got his sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion earlier this week. The father of one will still tell you that he’s innocent, and has even begun selling “Free Tory” merch from behind bars, and there are those who’ve made it abundantly clear they’re standing in support of the singer. On the other hand, there are many who believe that Lanez’s 10-year sentence is fair and that everyone besides the two recording artists involved in the situation needs to keep their mouths shut at this point.

Among the latter category is Trinidad James, who spoke with TMZ about his thoughts during a run-in at LAX. “I think the best thing that I can say, is that if you shoot somebody, you should go to jail to think about your actions,” he began. “If you didn’t shoot somebody, and you go to jail and you doing 10 years for something that you didn’t do, it kind of reminds me of the Kendrick Lamar lyric, ‘The one who pulls the trigger has to live forever.’ After you kill somebody, they die right then and there, but you have to keep thinking about it.”

Trinidad James Shares Thoughts on Tory Lanez with TMZ

James explained that he sees the “Say It” hitmaker’s situation the same way before the conversation turned to Iggy Azalea and the controversial letter the rap diva wrote in defence of Lanez. “[She] said how she felt, but she shouldn’t have said anything,” the 35-year-old declared. “It’s not her business, right? But it is her opinion.”

Iggy Azalea isn’t the only one being criticized for defending her friend Tory Lanez. R&B sensation Mario has also been feeling the heat after his letter to the criminal’s judge began circulating online earlier this week, though his backlash doesn’t seem to be quite as extreme as the Australian’s. DJ Akademiks Tells Megan Thee Stallion To “Bring The Lawsuit”

DJ Akademiks has long been a supporter of Tory Lanez which must have made his sentencing yesterday sting a bit. After a long-lasting trial over a shooting that took place years ago, Lanez’ fate is finally clear. The rapper will spend 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot in July of 2020. After being found guilty in December of 2022 he was officially sentenced to 10 years behind bars yesterday. In the fallout of the case one of Lanez’ lawyers specifically pointed out that Lanez had been leaking court documents and medical information to Akademiks.

It was long suspected that DJ Akademiks had been receiving material from Lanez and his response to it came off a bit unhinged. When a fan in his comment section suggests he should be arrested, Ak loses it. In the following rant, he references a long-lasting beef he’s had with Megan Thee Stallion after being mentioned on her Instagram story. Megan accused him of being a “blog on payroll” and of purposefully spreading misinformation. Now in this new rant Akademiks has a simple message for everyone criticizing him, “bring the lawsuit.”

DJ Akademiks Asks To Be Sued

Fans in the comments of a repost of Akademiks’ video clearly sided with Megan more. “This level of rage towards a woman who you don’t even know is wild!” reads one of the top comments. “He don’t need a lawsuit. He need that chair from Alabama,” another comment jokes. Elsewhere in the comments fans speculate on why Akademiks seems to start beef with almost any woman he can. “I’m convinced he hates all women,” reads one suggestion. “He must have Mommy issues, bc he always have so much aggression towards women,” says another.

Following the announcement of the sentencing yesterday, Tory Lanez offered Megan Thee Stallion an apology. He claimed to still see Megan as a friend and explained why they connected to each other in the first place. What do you think of DJ Akademiks newest livestreamed rant? Let us know in the comment section below.
