DJ Akademiks Tells Megan Thee Stallion To “Bring The Lawsuit”

DJ Akademiks has long been a supporter of Tory Lanez which must have made his sentencing yesterday sting a bit. After a long-lasting trial over a shooting that took place years ago, Lanez’ fate is finally clear. The rapper will spend 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot in July of 2020. After being found guilty in December of 2022 he was officially sentenced to 10 years behind bars yesterday. In the fallout of the case one of Lanez’ lawyers specifically pointed out that Lanez had been leaking court documents and medical information to Akademiks.

It was long suspected that DJ Akademiks had been receiving material from Lanez and his response to it came off a bit unhinged. When a fan in his comment section suggests he should be arrested, Ak loses it. In the following rant, he references a long-lasting beef he’s had with Megan Thee Stallion after being mentioned on her Instagram story. Megan accused him of being a “blog on payroll” and of purposefully spreading misinformation. Now in this new rant Akademiks has a simple message for everyone criticizing him, “bring the lawsuit.”

DJ Akademiks Asks To Be Sued

Fans in the comments of a repost of Akademiks’ video clearly sided with Megan more. “This level of rage towards a woman who you don’t even know is wild!” reads one of the top comments. “He don’t need a lawsuit. He need that chair from Alabama,” another comment jokes. Elsewhere in the comments fans speculate on why Akademiks seems to start beef with almost any woman he can. “I’m convinced he hates all women,” reads one suggestion. “He must have Mommy issues, bc he always have so much aggression towards women,” says another.

Following the announcement of the sentencing yesterday, Tory Lanez offered Megan Thee Stallion an apology. He claimed to still see Megan as a friend and explained why they connected to each other in the first place. What do you think of DJ Akademiks newest livestreamed rant? Tory Lanez was Finally Sentenced

“I said some very immature things that I shouldn’t have said. I revealed some secrets I shouldn’t have revealed,” he also admitted to everyone in attendance. Earlier today, the case’s District Attorney called Lanez out for lacking accountability by attempting to blame his alleged alcohol problem for his actions. His latest comments appear to be the first signs of remorse the world has heard from the R&B crooner. She didn’t appear in court herself this week. Still, Megan gave a statement asking the judge to not consider showing her shooter any mercy.

“He lied to anyone that would listen and paid bloggers to disseminate false information about the case on social media,” she wrote. While waiting for the final verdict in Tory Lanez’s case today, a supporter of the artist went viral from outside the courthouse. In a series of videos, she’s been bashing his victim, blaming Thee Stallion for having to take time off work to come and support her shooter. Tory Lanez Update: DA Says Rapper Is “Avoiding Accountability” With Alcoholism Excuses

On Monday (August 7), Tory Lanez was due to find out his fate regarding his Megan Thee Stallion shooting trial. The Canadian was found guilty in late 2022 and has since been behind bars. He’s facing up to 13 years in prison for his crimes. Due to the sheer amount of discussion that took place yesterday, sentencing was pushed to Tuesday. The internet has been busy speculating exactly how much time Lanez will end up doing. There are some, such as Iggy Azalea, who wrote letters to the judge suggesting a reduced sentence that would focus on transforming her longtime friend, rather than destroying his life.

Megan Thee Stallion didn’t attend in person (to protect her mental health), though she did write a letter requesting no remorse for Lanez due to the trauma she’s endured at his hands. According to journalist Meghann Cuniff, the father of one’s legal team painted the picture of Tory as a heavy drinker in hopes of garnering sympathy from the District Attorney, but that didn’t go over so well. “Judge Herriford said while the shooting obviously involved alcohol, there is no evidence of Lanez [having a drinking problem], including in the 76 letters submitted for Lanez,” she reported via Twitter this morning.

Meghann Cuniff Gives Updates on Tory Lanez’s Trial

In addition, Herriford also pointed out that Lanez has never once admitted to shooting Megan. “What is he alleging he did as a result of alcohol-use disorder if he didn’t do anything?” the judge pondered. “What did the doctor conclude he did as a result of alcohol use? It’s very unclear.” According to the singer’s lawyers, “yelling” and the “argument that went back and forth in the car” were a direct result of intoxication problems.

When given his turn to speak, DA Alex Bott was clearly unimpressed with the defense. He stated that it shows Lanez’s “willingness to do anything and everything to avoid accountability for the crime.” Bott also accused the “Say It” hitmaker of “talking out both sides of his mouth” by representing himself as both someone with alcoholism/a mental disorder and a positive role model for his son.

Tory Lanez Sentencing To Continue On Tuesday For Megan Thee Stallion Shooting

It seems like Tory Lanez’s sentence for being found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion back in 2020 will take just a little longer to emerge. Moreover, reporter Meghann Cuniff took to Twitter to update followers on the news. However, it’s unclear as of writing this article exactly why there were so many delays in the process. For those unaware, the court was supposed to sentence the Canadian artist today (August 7), but session will continue tomorrow Tuesday, August 8. In addition, Cuniff relayed other important parts of today’s court happenings as related to the sentence.

“Incredibly, Judge Herriford managed to not finish today,” she wrote on the social media platform. “We are coming back tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. A few more things to talk about, then argument, then Herriford will sentence Tory Lanez. Megan did not speak in person, but she submitted a statement that DA Kathy Ta read aloud.” In subsequent tweets, the journalist went on to detail some of what this statement contained. Not only that, she also stated that the judge in the Los Angeles case hinted at what the future sentence could be impacted by.

Tory Lanez Will Be Sentenced Tomorrow, Meghann Cuniff Reports

“Megan said she struggled with whether to attend in person,” Meghann Cuniff expressed. “Her absence should be seen as her preserving her mental well being. She said since Tory shot her, ‘I’ve not experienced a single day of [peace].’ ‘He lied to anyone that would listen,’ Megan said of Lanez. Megan said mercy is for people who show remorse, and Lanez has shown none. She thanked for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for their support. She wants the sentence to be a message for everyone woman of violence.

“Important: Judge Herriford said he believes Lanez’s actions after the shooting, the social media posts and harassment of Megan, are a major aggravating factor in his sentence,” she continued. “He says he won’t consider lack of remorse, but he says considering the post-shooting actions are similar.” As such, it will only be a little longer until we learn how damning and punitive the sentence will be. With that in mind, for the latest news and updates on the Tory Lanez case, check back in with HNHH.

Iggy Azalea Reportedly Wrote To Judge In Support Of Tory Lanez, Twitter Reacts

Iggy Azalea and Tory Lanez were reportedly hanging out with one another prior to the Megan Thee Stallion trial. Overall, some felt like this was a bit strange. Subsequently, he was convicted of the Megan Thee Stallion shooting which has led to months of anticipation for his sentencing. The sentencing has been delayed on numerous occasions, however, today, it is finally taking place.

Casanova Speaks Out After Receiving 15-Year Sentence

Just yesterday, we reported on how rapper Casanova was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Overall, this sentence was due to a plethora of racketeering and narcotics charges. Now, Casanova has a very long road ahead of him as he will need to stay locked up for the next 188 months.

Since the ruling, Casanova has subsequently decided to issue a statement on Twitter. Below, you can see what he had to say on the matter. Casanova Breaks His Silence

“I am telling you and anyone that will listen that I wanted out before I was arrested and I am out. I’ve learned through my music career that people will listen and that I don’t need to associate myself with a gang to succeed. I don’t need to associate with a gang even if I don’t succeed,” the rapper wrote. “While I have been in here I lost my father to cancer. While I put on that strong facade, all I wanted to do was end it. Surviving on Rikers Island and upstate correctional facilities were not easy with racial and gang tension and violence at its height.”

Since denouncing his gang, Casanova has been in danger, according to his lawyer. He was even beaten up in prison, which left him bloody. Needless to say, there are some worries about his safety now that he will be in prison for over a decade. Stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world.

Tory Lanez Receives New Sentencing Date

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David Herriford has scheduled a new sentencing date for Tory Lanez, regarding his three felony charges in the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. Lanez will now find out how long he can expect to spend in prison on Monday, August 7, 2023.

“Judge Herriford scheduled it moments ago,” Legal affairs journalist Meghann Cuniff reported on Twitter, Tuesday. “Lanez appeared in court briefly, wearing orange jail garb and a black cap. His lawyers’ sentencing recommendation is due Aug. 1. Prosecutors want 13 years.”

As for what Lanez can expect from his sentencing, the charges carry a maximum sentence of 22 years and eight months in prison. However, prosecutors in Los Angeles are recommending the rapper serve 13 years behind bars. They made the determination in a memorandum filed in court, last Tuesday.

“Words have power and the pen is oftentimes mightier than the sword. In this case, Daystar Peterson used both,” the filing read, referring to Lanez’s legal name. “Not content to have hurt the victim by use of his sword (gun), he also used his pen. His online posts for nearly three years have re-traumatized the victim.”

“His online reach is worldwide (millions of followers plus casual observers) and the defendant’s statements embolden his followers so that they too have been complicit in re-traumatizing the victim,” the memo continues. “He is responsible for the effect of his words and his actions.”

Tory Lanez’s New Sentencing Date

A jury found Lanez guilty on three felony counts in regard to the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion back in December. Prosecutors have argued he “demonstrated a high level of callousness” with the shooting as well as his behavior afterward and the court should punish him accordingly. Keep an eye out for more updates on Tory Lanez’s case in the coming months.
