Joyner Lucas Denies Asking DaBaby To Start Fake Rap Beef

DaBaby recently sparked a lot of debate, theories, and amused speculation among the rap community online thanks to some recent and curious claims. Moreover, he was Shaquille O’Neal’s most recent guest on his show, The Big Podcast, whose newest episode aired on Wednesday (April 24). During their conversation, the North Carolina rapper claimed that a famous rapper, a particularly lyrically-minded one, recently reached out to him to fabricate a rap beef. While he denied his request, a lot of folks theorized as to who this mystery instigator could be. For some reason, the Internet arrived at the conclusion that Joyner Lucas was a likely candidate, assumptions to which he responded bluntly.

“Man why tf everyone in comments saying it’s me? Lol smh Jesus Christ,” Joyner Lucas commented under DJ Akademiks’ post covering DaBaby’s confession. While he’s beefed with Logic in the past (something they patched up), it’s not like he’s been involved in a lot of feuds before, and neither has the “BOP” MC. As such, maybe this is what led fans to this conclusion, or they just wanted an excuse to shade the Not Now, I’m Busy creative or clown him as a clout-chaser. It’s a pretty sad conclusion to reach and a poor excuse to dog on either artist, but at the very least, it’s funny to think about the potential match-ups.

Joyner Lucas Denies Wanting Fake Smoke With DaBaby

DaBaby Fake Beef Lyricist Joyner Lucas Response Hip Hop News
Screenshot via @akademiks, originally posted Wednesday April 24, 2024

For those unaware, DaBaby’s comments on a fake rap beef that many think Joyner Lucas was the one to offer him resulted from a conversation on all the feuding going on right now concerning the current big players in mainstream rap right now. “Two days after [the J. Cole apology] took place, I got a call,” he told Shaq. “I won’t say from who. I got a call from a certain rapper. It’s like a lyricist, I’m sure y’all know him if I said his name. 1,000 percent y’all know him. He shot me a text, he was like, ‘Hit me, you gon’ like this.’ I called him and was like, ‘What up?’… He like, ‘You wanna go up? How you feeling?’ I’m like, ‘What’s up? Talk to me.’

“He said, ‘All the back and forth between J. Cole and Kendrick got me fired up!’” he continued. “‘Bruh, I feel like we should diss each other. We cool behind closed doors, [but] we should diss each other. I feel like it would just go crazy.’ I know for a fact what that would do. But at the same time, it’s a little more personal with me. I’m not about to say certain things about you if I don’t really feel a certain way about you. I told him, ‘And that’s out of respect for you.’ ‘Cause it can go either which way with me.” For more news on DaBaby and Joyner Lucas, who crossed over with the latter’s “Suge” remix, stay up to date on HNHH.

Gillie Da Kid Reveals What Really Causes Rap Beef

As of late, there’s been more than enough rap beef going on to keep hip-hop fans occupied. Drake’s currently wrapped up in what’s been dubbed a “20-v-1” battle against the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Future, Metro, Boomin, Rick Ross, and more. Kanye West even recently hopped on the Drizzy hate train, unveiling his remix of “Like That” over the weekend.

The feud has prompted a tremendous amount of speculation about what could be the real driving force behind it. According to Gillie Da Kid, however, the answer is pretty simple. Earlier this week, the Philly-born artist took to social media to weigh in. He says that almost always, rap beef is started over a woman.

Gillie Da Kid Claims Women Are Almost Always To Blame For Rap Beef

“Y’all realize in this rap beef that’s going on, right, just like a lot of rap beefs, most of it be about a b*tch, because the reality of it is all these n***as is super rich,” he explains in a clip. “All these n***as money is longer than mothaf*ckin’ Broad Street, all these n***as can paint mothaf*ckin’ 7th Ave[nue] with 100s, so it ain’t nothing to beef about other than a b*tch.”

Gillie continued, “Rap n***as is some of the most sensitive n***as in the country when it come to b*tches, because they get to a city and they meet a b*tch, and the b*tch be a little chicken tender, and they start f*ckin’ with the b*tch and they feel like this b*tch is his. No, this is not your b*tch, bro — this b*tch waiting for [Drake] to come to town next week; this b*tch is waiting on Future two weeks from now; this b*tch is waiting on Moneybagg Yo to get here. This not your b*tch, man.” What do you think of Gillie Da Kid claiming that women are almost always the cause of rap beef? Do you think he’s on to something or not? DJ Akademiks Theorizes Why Rappers Are Cliquing Up Against Drake

DJ Akademiks is someone who is always commenting on hip-hop culture. Moreover, he is known as a bit of a cheerleader for the likes of Drake. Overall, he has always proven himself to be a massive fan of the Canadian megastar, although he does take it a bit too far sometimes. That has been especially true over these last 10 days. Drake dropped his response to Kendrick Lamar called “Push Ups.” Furthermore, Drizzy delivered the “Taylor Made Freestyle” which was meant to be the ultimate showing of disrespect.

Since that time, Akademiks has put Kendrick on the clock, and he is waiting for the response. Every single day, he goes to Twitter and theorizes when Lamar might drop. Recently, in light of Kanye’s comments about “eliminating” Drake, Akademiks had a bit of an epiphany. In the tweet below, Akademiks revealed that he thinks he cracked the code on what rappers are going after Drake. For him, they don’t actually have a valid reason. Instead, they are jealous of all of his success.

DJ Akademiks Gives His Thoughts

“It’s wild how openly other rappers with the exception of Ross aren’t even spelling out their problem with Drake they just openly saying ‘We tired of this nigga winning let’s clique up to get rid of him,’” Akademiks explained. It is certainly an interesting theory that has been made more real thanks to what Kanye had to say. As for Kendrick’s reasoning, it most likely has to do with competitive spirit. However, without a proper response to “Push Ups,” fans are starting to second guess what Lamar’s true intent was.

Let us know what you think of this take from DJ Akademiks, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that some artists are doing too much as it pertains to Drake? Do you think that the man everyone wants to hear from, Kendrick Lamar, will drop a response? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. 50 Cent Predicts What Chris Brown Will Do To Quavo Following Second Diss Track

50 Cent is someone who is always commenting on the latest developments in rap beef. Overall, he has been pretty vocal about what is going on between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Furthermore, he has had his fair share of rap beef over the years, so it should come as no surprise that he likes to discuss the interpersonal issues of others. Ever since the year started, there has been a whole lot of conflict in the world, and that is especially true in hip-hop. In fact, in the eyes of some, the Katt Williams interview with Shannon Sharpe created a true shift in the stars.

One feud that has been ongoing over the last few weeks has been between Quavo and Chris Brown. It seems as though they are mostly beefing over Saweetie. Overall, it is clear that they do not like each other, and they are making those feelings known. Numerous diss tracks have been dropped at this point, with Quavo delivering the most recent blow. On the song “Over Hoes & Bitches,” Quavo takes a look at Brown’s history of alleged domestic violence. Furthermore, he put some vocals from Takeoff on the song, for good measure.

50 Cent Continues To Instigate

Following this recent diss track, 50 Cent decided to take to Instagram where he offered up his reaction. “I don’t know why I like all of this, but I like it! This heat keep it coming. Breezy gonna punch him in the face,” Fif explained. Chris Brown has made it clear that he will not be responding to the most recent track. However, it is very clear that things have reached a point of no return for these two. For onlookers like 50 Cent, this is all one giant train wreck.

Let us know what you think of 50 Cent’s reaction to the beef, in the comments section down below. Do you think Chris Brown or Quavo have the better diss songs so far? Kanye West Claims The “Elimination Of Drake” Is Energizing Himself And Others

Kanye West is someone who has beefed with Drake a ton in the past. Although he had seemingly made nice with the rapper thanks to the tutelage of J Prince, he is back to dissing the megastar. Overall, Ye had the rap game talking this weekend thanks to his verse on the “Like That” remix. Throughout this new version of the song, he takes shots at both J. Cole and Drizzy. Of course, Cole has dissed Kanye in the past, so this recent shot felt like one that was a bit overdue. It also led to some pretty hilarious memes on social media, but that is neither here nor there.

This was all released around the same time that Kanye West was doing an interview with none other than Justin Laboy. During this interview, Ye spoke up about the “Like That” remix and what made him want to do it. As he notes, Future was the first person to call him about getting on the remix. Moreover, he noted that the recent attacks on Drake are something that has everyone “energized.” More specifically, the artist said, “Everybody is very, very excited about the elimination of Drake.”

Kanye West Joined The Party Recently

These are some strong words, and it goes to show that there is a bit of a deep hatred for Drake right now. That said, the former actor is not backing down right now. He dropped “Push Ups” where he took aim against Kendrick. Subsequently, he delivered the “Taylor Made Freestyle” which some believe could be a knockout punch. Only time will tell whether or not Lamar gets back involved, especially with so many artists in the ring right now.

Let us know what you think of the brewing war between Drake and the rest of the rap game, in the comments section down below. Do you think that this beef is starting to become unfair? Will Kendrick Lamar end up responding anytime soon? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. Quavo Apparently Reacts To Chris Brown’s New Diss Track Against Him

It seems like we have another round coming up in the recently boiled-over rap beef between Chris Brown and Quavo. For those unaware, the two experienced a lot of tension throughout their career given shared romantic history and a general aversion to one another that was never very clear. Either way, things really got serious when they sat next to each other at a fashion event, and they spoke about how that didn’t mean they liked each other at all. Diss tracks from each MC followed, and the latest of these (Breezy’s “Weakest Link”) is honestly more brutal and disrespectful than anything that Kendrick Lamar, Drake, or anyone else in that side of hip-hop feuds have done so far this year.

Moreover, a recent Instagram Story post from the former Migo on Saturday (April 20) has fans thinking that this is his first implicit response to this new diss track. Quavo posted a picture of Young Thug in court for his current RICO trial (and that of the rest of YSL) with an annoyed look on his face. It’s a very simple image that could mean a lot, but given the context surrounding the Georgia rapper right now, it’s hard not to think about a potential reaction to Chris Brown’s shots. He’s only sent one diss track against the pop/R&B/rap star so far, but it was such a quick response that fans predict he’ll be quick to hit the booth.

“Tender” wasn’t bad at all, albeit something that Chris Brown definitely turned the heat up on with “Weakest Link” with some direct responses. These included Quavo’s mention of Brown’s documented and often alleged history of abusing women, which the latter turned against the former by bringing up a video in which Huncho Jack attacks his now-ex Saweetie in an elevator. In fact, the Virginia entertainer claims to have slept with her while she was still with the “Hotel Lobby” spitter on this new diss track. The Los Angeles MC, now in a relationship with YG, might’ve responded to all this, too.

Meanwhile, what do you think about this beef and how it’s seemingly ramping up? Do you think that the trap icon will actually respond on wax or is the 11:11 artist safe from a clapback? However you may feel, drop your thoughts down in the comments section below. Also, stay logged into HNHH for more news and the latest updates on Quavo and Chris Brown.

Saweetie Seems To Respond To Chris Brown’s Quavo Diss Alluding To Her

Did everyone choose violence in 2024 (except J. Cole regretting his initial decision) or is this just the most coincidentally hostile time in rap’s history? Moreover, the latest info brewing in hip-hop’s butcher shop is the beef between Chris Brown and Quavo, which just escalated in a nasty and absolutely ruthless way with the former’s “Weakest Link” diss against the latter. On it, he includes the following lines alluding to the former Migo’s ex, Saweetie. “You f***ed my ex-h*e, that’s cool, I don’t give no f**k, lil’ n***a,” Breezy raps. “‘Cause I f***ed your ex when you were still with her, b***h, I’m up, lil’ n***a.”

“They say revenge is sweet, now think about that s**t,” Chris Brown continued against Quavo. “Don’t let that line go over your head, I might just sing about that s**t / I had her fiending about that d**k, there’s something sweet about that s**t / I got some tea about that b***h, but I ain’t gon’ speak about that s**t.” Well, it looks like Saweetie herself has something to say about this whole debacle about these MCs’ exes, as she took to Twitter early Saturday morning (April 20) to seemingly react to this diss. “let me go rewrite these nani verses,” she wrote, and a couple of hours prior late Friday night (April 19), she had tweeted “WHEW ! CHILE.” seemingly before the song came out, indicating that she perhaps knew of its existence before the public. That’s entirely speculative, though, and just a theory with no real proof or backing.

Regardless, the “nani verses” the Los Angeles MC’s referring to is a new song she’s coming out with very soon, which had and still has die-hards very excited. In fact, they’re probably more excited now than they were then considering this Chris Brown and Quavo beef. However, it’s hard to call whether Saweetie will really respond to any of this. After all, she’s not usually one to get into explicit or speculated beef despite some past examples, and this would be one of the more direct callouts she’s ever been involved in.

Meanwhile, the Icy Girl seems to still be with YG and having a great time as a couple right now following break-up rumors. Will he have to step into the booth to defend his girl? Only time will tell. For more news and the latest updates on Saweetie, Chris Brown, and Quavo, check back in with HNHH.

Birdman Shuts Down Theories That Hip-Hop Has Become “Soft”

There’s been plenty of discourse about the current state of hip-hop as of late, particularly amid all of the viral rap beef taking place online. It’s sparked questions of whether or not hip-hop has become soft, as instead of hashing things out in the streets, artists’ new go-to is social media. During a recent appearance on Steve-O’s Wild Ride!, Birdman chimed into the debate, revealing whether or not he believes things have changed since his come-up in the 90s. According to him, things haven’t gotten better in terms of violence. In fact, he thinks things have gotten worse.

“F*ck no,” the Cash Money Records icon said of hip-hop becoming soft. “We was cool back then without social media, now these young n***as killing — it’s a different operation. You just got to know how to adjust either way. It’s a different time, from then to now.”

Birdman Says Violence Has Increased

He went on to note that social media makes it easier to start problems with people, and how immediately things can spread. “Back then, we didn’t have social media, so if you got a problem with a n***a, who gon’ know? ‘Cause you ain’t making songs about no n***a, but nowadays with social media, you got a problem, the whole world gon’ know. It’s just a different time and I just hope it get better, bro,” he said.

Birdman elaborated, noting how he hopes the violence will come to an end once and for all. “I don’t want to see people losing their lives, ’cause that’s happening,” he explained. “Even n***as rapping are not rapping. People really losing their lives over social media.” What do you think of Birdman’s take on the current state of hip-hop? Do you agree that it hasn’t become soft since he came up in the 90s? Lupe Fiasco Trolls People Calling Him A Kendrick Lamar Hater

Lupe Fiasco continues to speak on his complicated assessment of Kendrick Lamar, which some fans see as jealousy and others see as just the legitimate truth. For those unaware, while the former has always given the latter respect, many think that he’s often been dismissive of his talents in comparison to his own. Some Drake haters, for example, can’t believe that the Chicago lyricist recently called him a better rapper than K.Dot. While responding to a particular tweet exchange on Wednesday (April 17) between two fans arguing about whether or not he was a hater, Lupe replied with a video of him and Kendrick onstage in 2012.

Basically, in the clip below, Lupe Fiasco gives Kendrick Lamar the “Next Best Thing” Award, part of a corporate partnership with other companies to give out accolades on Lupe’s behalf. It’s similar to other “passing of the torch” moments in the Compton creative’s history, such as inheriting the West Coast crown. What makes this moment particularly special is how these two MCs are such gifted lyrical talents, and how the “Next Best Thing” was clearly very inspired by the award’s deliverer. Since then, though, the Food & Liquor artist has made it very clear that while he likes Kendrick, he doesn’t think that he’s any better than him… in the lyrical sense.

Lupe Fiasco Gives Kendrick Lamar “Next Best Thing” Accolade, Argues Against Hating On Him 12 Years Later

Given the “Savior” spitter’s reverence in contemporary hip-hop circles, many saw Lupe Fiasco’s dismissals as just hating, but it’s the same kind of treatment that he would offer to any other rapper who thinks they stand a chance. Also, with his caption of this video, he made fun of the idea that he’s just hating on Kendrick Lamar just because, and while the jury will likely forever be out, perhaps people are interpreting competitiveness too sensitively. “I been hating on KDot since 2012…day one hater,” the 42-year-old captioned the award clip. “Big Hate…couldn’t wait till he came to Chicago so I could hate on him to his f***ing face!”

Meanwhile, he also recently denied ever apologizing for trying to diss Mr. Morale, and clarified that his apology was for speaking on his “Control” verse in the first place. This also wasn’t a diss, just a belief that it was overrated and could be better. What do you think about this approach to the competitive spirit, and do you think this holds any weight? Drop your thoughts in the comments and log back into HNHH for the latest news and updates on Lupe Fiasco and Kendrick Lamar.

Rap Beef: Russell Simmons Compares Hip-Hop’s Current State To Biggie Smalls Vs. Tupac

Even from his luxury retreat in Bali, Russell Simmons is keeping up with the latest unfolding in the music industry. Though he spends most of his time focusing on mental wellness and meditation these days, on Monday (April 15), the executive posted a video on Instagram with some thoughts on all the drama unfolding around us recently. In his post, Simmons reflected on the infamous East vs. West Coast beef that led to the deaths of Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls. He compares it to modern situations, including global wars that are far beyond the problems of the entertainment world.

“I walked Biggie to his car and I felt, that night, his death,” Simmons shared. “I must have been involved in saving the lives of God knows how many rappers. I’ve solved so many rap beefs behind the scenes,” he added. After walking Smalls to his car, the 66-year-old headed home where he got a call from a leading member of the Crips gang.

“Mike Concepcion called me and told me [Biggie] had been killed. The next day, I called and we set up a meeting at Mr. Farrakhan’s house. We had a meeting where East and West came together. It kind of stopped the war,” Simmons told his followers. “But it was a big deal because people were dying. Biggie and Tupac were dead. Rap beef escalated to that. We had a meeting and I felt, that night, his death.”

While her dad uses his IG platform to reflect on his role in the music industry, Aoki Lee Simmons has also been expressing herself online. The 21-year-old was under a lot of scrutiny for vacationing with a man over four decades older than her recently, and while she looked happy in his company on the beach, their fling ended almost as quickly as the world found out about it.
