Joyner Lucas Denies Asking DaBaby To Start Fake Rap Beef

DaBaby recently sparked a lot of debate, theories, and amused speculation among the rap community online thanks to some recent and curious claims. Moreover, he was Shaquille O’Neal’s most recent guest on his show, The Big Podcast, whose newest episode aired on Wednesday (April 24). During their conversation, the North Carolina rapper claimed that a famous rapper, a particularly lyrically-minded one, recently reached out to him to fabricate a rap beef. While he denied his request, a lot of folks theorized as to who this mystery instigator could be. For some reason, the Internet arrived at the conclusion that Joyner Lucas was a likely candidate, assumptions to which he responded bluntly.

“Man why tf everyone in comments saying it’s me? Lol smh Jesus Christ,” Joyner Lucas commented under DJ Akademiks’ post covering DaBaby’s confession. While he’s beefed with Logic in the past (something they patched up), it’s not like he’s been involved in a lot of feuds before, and neither has the “BOP” MC. As such, maybe this is what led fans to this conclusion, or they just wanted an excuse to shade the Not Now, I’m Busy creative or clown him as a clout-chaser. It’s a pretty sad conclusion to reach and a poor excuse to dog on either artist, but at the very least, it’s funny to think about the potential match-ups.

For those unaware, DaBaby’s comments on a fake rap beef that many think Joyner Lucas was the one to offer him resulted from a conversation on all the feuding going on right now concerning the current big players in mainstream rap right now. “Two days after [the J. Cole apology] took place, I got a call,” he told Shaq. “I won’t say from who. I got a call from a certain rapper. It’s like a lyricist, I’m sure y’all know him if I said his name. 1,000 percent y’all know him. He shot me a text, he was like, ‘Hit me, you gon’ like this.’ I called him and was like, ‘What up?’… He like, ‘You wanna go up? How you feeling?’ I’m like, ‘What’s up? Talk to me.’

“He said, ‘All the back and forth between J. Cole and Kendrick got me fired up!’” he continued. “‘Bruh, I feel like we should diss each other. We cool behind closed doors, [but] we should diss each other. I feel like it would just go crazy.’ I know for a fact what that would do. But at the same time, it’s a little more personal with me. I’m not about to say certain things about you if I don’t really feel a certain way about you. 50 Cent Shares Diddy “Text Messages” With Bizarre Social Media Troll

50 Cent’s latest troll of Diddy amid his various sex crimes allegations is a little misleading when you see it on paper. Moreover, via Instagram on Wednesday night (April 17), he posted a video of the Bad Boy mogul seemingly texting him, inviting him to have a drink, come over, be in his next rap video… you get the idea. “Yo this is fun to me, I had to share this it made me laugh,” Fif captioned the screen recording in question, although it’s unclear if this is someone else’s video or if this is some sort of software or interface through which he fabricated this back-and-forth.

Either way, we’re sure many will find this amusing, even if 50 Cent’s relentless Diddy jokes are starting to get a little played out and stale. However, we’d much rather take those than potential misinformation, which many thought that he engaged in thanks to another recent social media post. Furthermore, the G-Unit MC shared a news report claiming that Sean Combs was in a sexual relationship with actor Reginald VelJohnson. Many folks accused the source of this rumor, Mediatakeout, of often spreading fake news, so this wasn’t as hard-hitting as he maybe thought.

Still, elsewhere, 50 Cent inadvertently cosigns more staunch and seriously framed attacks on Diddy that don’t just focus on the “zesty” allegations that some joke about first and foremost. For an example of this, look no further than Kesha changing her “Tik Tok” lyrics to “F**k P. Diddy” as opposed to her original “Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy.” “LOL she said [middle finger emoji],” 50 wrote of this decision on social media. “Fvck P DIDDY, HAHAAHAHA [eyeball emoji] PUFFY LIKE 50 TOLD HER TO SAY THAT!”

Meanwhile, one of the most recent developments in Puffy’s various lawsuits is that Universal Music Group wants out, with a motion to dismiss the case against them. It’s unclear how the rest of the industry that’s implicated in these accusations will handle them moving forward, either defending or abandoning him. Only time will tell, and with such a massive and hard to parse scandal, perhaps this will be a particularly long process. Drake Tomb Hoax Gets Fans Pressed Over His Fake Requests

Drake’s the type of person to make a lavish tomb for himself at 37 years old… said the comedian coming up with skit ideas. Moreover, Graeme Barrett recently uploaded a humorous hoax that spoofed the construction of a tomb for the 6ix God in his home city of Toronto on Wednesday (January 10). “It’s got everything Drake requested for the afterlife,” Barrett said as the “site supervisor” during the fake broadcast news report. “So there’s rooms filled with Patron, there’s room for 21 Savage, and there’s also a fully functioning OVO store.” Furthermore, the most streamed rapper of 2023 is living better than most of us even in the afterlife.

Of course, this was all just a big joke, but some fans still made fun of these requests and of this construction as if it was really happening. This was made clear when Barrett joked that “an old lady cursed all the items, so if someone does steal something, for the rest of their life, they will be followed home by the owl man.” Also, he said that the only sealed item in this tomb is a pirated copy of Stranger Things. It seems like the comedian did his research and still thinks there’s some mileage in the Drake and Millie Bobby Brown rumors.

Meanwhile, this is what some fans had to say about this whole parody. “The strangers things dvd joke is elite,” one user commented under the video above, referencing A$AP Rocky’s possible opponent’s alleged proximity to Bobby Brown. “Drake’s the type of guy who says ‘hehe you’ve got company’ before appearing as an ectoplasm for those trying to pillage his tomb,” another wrote. “The elites actually worship an owl God, s**ts wild,” one conspiratorial follower expressed, whereas another chimed in with: “Hot line bling played on repeat when your trapped inside.”

Lil Yachty Posts His Playlist Online After Fans Clowned A Fake One

Lil Yachty is many things: a rapper, stylist, gamer, songwriter, psych-rock creative, and the list goes on. Given his unique aesthetics, the cultural splash he made on impact, and the polarizing nature of a lot of his art and statements, he has also been identified as a key tastemaker in the past seven years or so. Maybe that seems far-fetched, but the Atlanta native is always down to share his tastes and proclivities with the world. Recently, though, people clowned him for this very fact after they found an alleged playlist of his on Spotify that many deemed “basic.” When the 26-year-old caught wind, he said it was fake but posted his own Apple Music playlist to prove it.

Furthermore, it’s about 450 songs long, totaling in at about 30 hours and 41 minutes. Genre-wise, it’s pretty all over the indie/rock/pop/R&B spectrum, although it doesn’t contain much in the way of strict hip-hop. That makes sense, though; Lil Yachty’s spoken before about how he usually doesn’t listen to other rap music to stay fresh and focused on his own craft. In addition, he explored a lot of different approaches and genres in 2023, something that he’s already continuing in 2024. For example, look no further than Faye Webster’s new single featuring him, “Lego Ring,” which is a quaint and colorful indie-shoegaze-alternative jam.

As for the picks themselves, there are plenty of songs here from Sampha, Drake, Cocteau Twins, Solange, ROSALÍA, Prefab Sprout, Bibio, Bktherula, and many more. Surprisingly, though, there are no songs here from Tyler, The Creator, despite him shouting Lil Yachty out on his own favorite songs list earlier in 2023. Still, we don’t always expect things to be quid pro quo between rappers when it comes to praise. It’s just interesting to see because, as we end a year and start a new one, artists often take the time to shout out their favorite work from their peers.

But Yachty’s playlist isn’t really about that, and is more of a general look into his listening habits. The “Paradigm” artist has a lot of gems on here, and who know what he’ll come across in 2024? Metro Boomin is going to take it back to the old days soon, announcing via Twitter this weekend that he will start uploading regularly on his YouTube channel. If you weren’t aware, he used to upload vlogs, beat-making sessions, and a whole host of other engaging sneak peeks for his fans. But the Grammy-nominated producer took a fan’s praise a bit further than they probably intended. Moreover, one fan quote-tweeted his announcement praising his deviation from “mysterious” artists who barely engage with their listener base. Then, the St. Louis creative commented on this in a pretty interesting way.

“The fake mysterious s**t with artists is ruining the game!!!” Metro Boomin expressed on the social media platform. “Everybody too cool.” Furthermore, this is very curious because he’s either very close or has worked with artists that tend to eschew a lot of connection with their fans. In fact, it’s kind of ironic because some people might put Future in that camp, and they’re coming out with a collab album very soon. Regardless of how much you could scrutinize this and nitpick, it’s a sentiment that many people share, especially with artists like Frank Ocean, Playboi Carti, and many more that keep to themselves to the dismay of their anticipating fanbase.

However, the 30-year-old said “fake mysterious,” so it’s entirely possible that he thinks some artists can pull it off. Maybe he appreciates people who are legitimately off the grid, and referred to artists who act all low-key but really just want even more attention for it. For example, André 3000 decidedly falls into the former camp, and Metro Boomin recently clowned publications who believed him when he said that the Outkast legend played the flute on “Mask Off.” When it comes to others, though, he probably won’t be forgiving or appreciative enough to even give them a shoutout.

Meanwhile, another big example that Metro connected with recently that could fall into either “mysterious” camp is Kanye West. Cardi B & Offset Call Police On “Journalist” Trying To Record Their Home

Cardi B and Offset have each other’s back for everything: their careers, their personal lives, their growing family, and their safety and security. Moreover, the two recently faced a scary situation around Thursday (November 23) near their Sandy Springs, Atlanta home that resulted in them calling the police. An as-of-press-time unidentified man walked near their property and tried to film it, and security guards outside their home told him to vacate the premises. The man, though, claimed to be a journalist. One security guard even tried to block his camera with his hand so he couldn’t get any more footage.

Furthermore, the man continued his staunch defense, claiming that he’s a journalist with First Amendment rights to “walk down the street and record” Cardi B and Offset’s home. Not only that, but he threatened a police officer with looking through his “public record” given his profession and gathering his personal information. Eventually, the dynamic music duo‘s security called local law enforcement after the man refused to stop trying to record or get closer to the property. When they arrived, the still unidentified “journalist” went into police custody, and they removed him from the surrounding area.

While this couple has always faced a pretty rocky road throughout their life, it’s moments like these that might put things in perspective for them in terms of how much they need to be ready to protect one another. After all, Cardi B and Offset could’ve encountered this person on their doorstep, and who knows what could’ve happened then? As of writing this article, we don’t know whether this “journalist” will face charges, spend time in the slammer, or what the nature of his repercussions- if any- will be. Perhaps the couple won’t pursue legal action, and the situation can hopefully de-escalate with more knowledge and context for how their security can handle these situations next time.

SZA Teaser Surfaces Online, Fans Call It Out As Fake

The hype for SZA’s deluxe version of her acclaimed 2022 album, SOS, is at all-time highs right now. After all, the project’s one-year anniversary is right around the corner, and fans can’t wait for her to finally unveil the teased expansion. However, social media trolls and somewhat skilled photo and video editors know that this is also a great opportunity to get some clicks feeding off of that hype. As such, somebody posted an alleged teaser that the R&B star supposedly posted on Instagram, indicating something dropping or being announced on December 8 of this year. But many fans online went to her page, saw nothing, and knew that someone played them once again.

Of course, fake teases and announcements like these are unfortunately common these days, even if many of them are pretty obvious jokes. Regardless, it got big enough for a significant amount of people to fall into the trap as they wait on official word from SZA. In fact, many might think that it’s a bit odd that there isn’t as much conversation around the deluxe right now. For example, one would think that a slew of Grammy nominations, which recently came out, would be due reason to at least remind folks that a deluxe is on the way.

Regardless, we’re well aware of what’s on the way from the St. Louis native, and will patiently wait for its (likely) release ahead of the awards ceremony. It’s also been great to see how such a great body of work carried her through an incredibly successful, high-profile, and tour-heavy 2023. SZA seems to have capped things off for the year, though, or is at least close to doing so. She was a headliner for Tyler, The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival last week, and to no one’s surprise, she stunned with infectious energy and a tenderly spectacular show.

Russ Wants To Troll Fans & The Industry By Faking His Streams To Make A Point

To no one’s surprise, Russ has a bone to pick with the music industry and streaming- and that’s not a jab at him. Moreover, the SANTIAGO rapper has often been very outspoken about his thoughts on these institutions, and there’s certainly a lot to comment on and complain about. His latest target, focused on via Twitter, is the advent of fake streams to boost a song or album’s profile. Apparently, the 30-year-old is so sick of trying to beat them that he wants to join other artists in that crusade, at least jokingly. Not only that, but he thinks it would make a point and is just a tool to promote yourself at the end of the day, as heinous as it may sound.

“Real s**t I’m boutta start faking my streams like everyone else,” Russ tweeted on Thursday (September 14). “It’s marketing when you think about it. General person is a sheep.. if you see a song has let’s say 100m streams and you haven’t heard it, you think ‘damn I’m tripping I needa go peep.’ And then the fake streams get you real streams. Such a ridiculous game but f**k it, maybe I’ll film the whole process and drop a doc after.”

Another recent industry question that the Atlanta MC brought up recently concerns first week sales. These have to do specifically with Burna Boy’s latest album, I Told Them…, and how close-minded people are when considering these numbers. “Burna Boy is doin 21k (in America) and sellin out arenas in America as well. How come artists who sell more than that (in America) aren’t doing arenas (in America) ?” Russ inquired on Instagram. “Take a wild guess [crying-laughing emoji].”

Meanwhile, he also recently alleged that Billboard disqualified album sales of his own. “Billboard & Luminate took away ANOTHER 4,000 of my REAL sales over the weekend,” he wrote on Twitter. “Making that 10,000 sales total they took away from me. [They allow] major labels to fake their streams and sales and do monopolistic merch bundles. Only major labels are allowed to do merch bundles because the only approved vendor is a major label vendor. These numbers and charts are made up. The impact however is not. Akon’s known to sometimes twist the truth for the sake of more engagement online, down to the details of his fit. Moreover, a lot of people noticed his fake Dior “Drio” jacket for his interview on N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN’s Drink Champs. While this isn’t an outright lie, it did prompt people to question whether this was a legitimate choice or if he just never noticed that the letters were flipped. Regardless, we now know, at least according to the Senegal-raised artist, this was all part of the plan to garner more interest in his interview. When speaking to French Montana, he answered his question about the jacket in earnest (hopefully).

“I knew I knew that s**t was going to raise engagement,” Akon responded to French Montana’s style inquiries. Furthermore, the 50-year-old singer said that he got the jacket from “one of [his] Africans.” “It just takes for one person to notice, and it’s gone’ go cr*zy on the internet,” he continued. “It sure did exactly what we wanted it to.” It’s ironic because, in a previous instance, Akon gifted French a fake watch that he got scammed for.

During that Drink Champs interview, the hitmaker also joked about how he would lie about being an African prince. “I used the excuse that I was a survivor, because it made me feel better about it,” Akon confessed. “But there was nothing for me to survive. Because my parents was actually really wealthy. I was living in New Jersey. We lived in a three-story house, just me and my older brother. So when I think about it, we were just bored as hell.

“I think a lot of my choices came from wanting to be accepted, you know?” he continued. “So that’s how I got caught into all the things that I got caught into, including cars. Because cars made me feel special. I was young, I could drive with the most elite vehicles, and I ran with the scenario that I was an African prince. Young Thug’s Leaked Calls To Lil Baby & Lil Durk To Diss Gunna Are Fake, His Sister Says

This beef isn’t getting any easier to navigate for fans, even with a whole new album from Young Thug to look in for answers. Moreover, Wack 100 shared an alleged leaked call from Thug to Lil Baby (another to Lil Durk also surfaced) telling them to respond to Gunna’s alleged subliminal disses, which came on his new album‘s single “bread & butter,” on BUSINESS IS BUSINESS. Of course, people went wild over it, but many raised eyebrows because neither MC appears on the final tracklist. Now, the Atlanta trap pioneer’s sister Dolly White came through on Instagram and said that these alleged calls are actually AI-generated and not real.

Regardless, this didn’t stop tensions from rising between these artists- at least on social media and song snippets. Gunna unfollowed Lil Baby and Lil Durk on Instagram, Baby seemingly dissed him on a teased track, and Smurk outright blasted Wunna for taking a plea deal and being a “rat.” Considering Young Thug’s allusions to snitching on tracks like “Jonesboro” from his new album, many assumed he referred to his YSL collaborator. However, it’s quite the grey area, as YSL promoted a Gift & a Curse and the College Park rhymer reposted Thugger’s countdown to the album on social media.

Overall, it seems like the only true confirmed tensions in this whole whirlwind are between Gunna and other rappers. Still, his relationship with Young Thug remains unclear, and many inconsistencies add up to murkiness. For example, the Slime Season innovator recently posted a link to the Drip Season crooner’s music on his Instagram bio, but deleted it shortly after. In addition, Wunna actively shared pro-Thugger messaging in his songs and music videos throughout a Gift & a Curse‘s rollout. However, there’s also the recent development of Thug’s other sister, Dora Williams, who seemingly suggested that streaming Gunna’s album is paying the family’s bills, so maybe their promotion of it is more of a means to an end.
