Doja Cat Reveals An Artist Almost Started Beef With Her Over A Bad Impersonation

Doja Cat is pretty outspoken when it comes to her jokes and jabs on the Internet, so much so that she’s been in a couple of situations where folks on the receiving end don’t see what’s so funny. Moreover, she recently revealed that she almost started beef with another artist because she mocked their voice while amped up on a Celsius energy drink. This was during a recent conversation with Lyle, better known as the Therapy Gecko. If you’re unfamiliar with his content, he dresses up like a gecko and takes calls from people asking for advice, sometimes with a special guest. The Los Angeles superstar was in his guest seat this time around, and spoke of this near-inciting incident.

“No, I just can’t drink [Celsius],” Doja Cat remarked. “I have a really cr*zy Celsius story, I almost got into a beef because of Celsius. I blame this on Celsius, it’s not me! So I was singing a song and doing the voice of somebody else. Like, I filmed myself doing the song in a cr*zy voice, and it was my really bad impression of that person. People took it super wrong. They thought I was trying to cause drama and issues, when really I was just being a f***ing a**hole.” Folks eventually connected the dots and assumed that she could have been referring to a years-ago incident with Cardi B.

Doja Cat Recalls Near-Beef Situation With A Mocked MC: Watch

In the referenced clip above, you can see how Doja Cat sang one of the Bronx rapper’s cuts, something she did not appreciate in the immediate aftermath. Still, it didn’t result in any actual issues between the two, and things are pretty quiet on that front now. One of the last notable interactions the two of them had was when they teamed up to fire back against critics of “WAP.” But it’s at least heartening to know that they made this all water under the bridge, because the last thing we need right now is more femcee beef.

Meanwhile, with a deluxe version of Scarlet on the way, we’re sure that the “Agora Hills” lyricist will continue to expand her career and look back on what could’ve been with more refined perspectives. Will it bring about another clash over a misunderstood joke? Only time will tell. With that in mind, check back in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Doja Cat.

Metro Boomin Explains Why He Is Resonating With Fans, Bashes Cash Grabbing Artists

Metro Boomin has been racking up tons of awards over the past year. Both of his recent albums are still doing crazy streaming numbers. While he does have a lot of big songs, with some getting radio play, they do not have your typical “bubblegum” feel to them. When you break down his productions detail by detail, there is certainly a lot of intricacies that you will catch.

You can have superstar artists on your beats, but that alone is not enough. It is a big reason why more underground names have been dominating 2023. They do not necessarily need big names attached to their works. Artists like Danny Brown, JPEGMAFIA, Black Thought, and more put a lot of effort into what they do. Metro has certainly done that now with HEROES & VILLAINS, for example. But, he really has done it throughout the entirety of his career. That was a topic covered in his recent interview with Variety.

The publication recognized him as their producer of the year. AllHipHop grabbed some quotable excerpts from the talk and one of them takes a shot a cash-grabbing artists. The St. Louis native said, “I feel like people can just tell I care. At a time when everybody has their hand out — like, ‘Let me do this for cash; let me make a dance for TikTok’ — you can hear all the details and thought behind my music.” He brings up an interesting point and a prevalent one at that. While there are definitely benefits to platforms like TikTok, a lot of listeners have their reservations about them.

What are your initial thoughts on Metro Boomin’s comments about why he feels he is at the top of the game right now? Do you agree with the fact that there are a lot of artists making low-effort songs for cash? Is Metro the best producer in the game right now? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Metro Boomin Blasts “Fake Mysterious” Artists, Believes They’re “Ruining The Game”

Metro Boomin is going to take it back to the old days soon, announcing via Twitter this weekend that he will start uploading regularly on his YouTube channel. If you weren’t aware, he used to upload vlogs, beat-making sessions, and a whole host of other engaging sneak peeks for his fans. But the Grammy-nominated producer took a fan’s praise a bit further than they probably intended. Moreover, one fan quote-tweeted his announcement praising his deviation from “mysterious” artists who barely engage with their listener base. Then, the St. Louis creative commented on this in a pretty interesting way.

“The fake mysterious s**t with artists is ruining the game!!!” Metro Boomin expressed on the social media platform. “Everybody too cool.” Furthermore, this is very curious because he’s either very close or has worked with artists that tend to eschew a lot of connection with their fans. In fact, it’s kind of ironic because some people might put Future in that camp, and they’re coming out with a collab album very soon. Regardless of how much you could scrutinize this and nitpick, it’s a sentiment that many people share, especially with artists like Frank Ocean, Playboi Carti, and many more that keep to themselves to the dismay of their anticipating fanbase.

Metro Boomin Doesn’t Like The “Fake Mysterious” Game In Music

However, the 30-year-old said “fake mysterious,” so it’s entirely possible that he thinks some artists can pull it off. Maybe he appreciates people who are legitimately off the grid, and referred to artists who act all low-key but really just want even more attention for it. For example, André 3000 decidedly falls into the former camp, and Metro Boomin recently clowned publications who believed him when he said that the Outkast legend played the flute on “Mask Off.” When it comes to others, though, he probably won’t be forgiving or appreciative enough to even give them a shoutout.

Meanwhile, another big example that Metro connected with recently that could fall into either “mysterious” camp is Kanye West. Many fans think that the beatsmith will appear on the rapper’s next album, but with the limbo state Ye’s releases and public image are in, it’s hard to believe until it actually comes out. Nevertheless, we’re looking forward to see what he drops on YouTube, which is a staunch rejection of the “fake mysterious artists” that won’t engage with their fans for whatever reason. On that note, check back in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Metro Boomin.

Big Daddy Kane Says He Wants To “Build” With Lil Uzi Vert, Kodak Black

During a recent interview on The Big Tigger Morning Show, Big Daddy Kane discussed the future of hip hop. He revealed that he believes the key to securing the future of the genre lies in the younger generation. In light of hip hop celebrating it’s 50-year-anniversary, he claims he’d like to sit down with some younger artists to “give them [the] game.”

“To get another 50, I believe that we need to bridge that gap between the older generation and the younger generation,” Big Daddy Kane explained. He continued, describing how the older generation could provide younger artists with some valuable insight. “We had our shot, we did our thing,” he says, “we’re still around, and we have a fan base that supports us for our catalog. So we’re not trying to threaten the younger generation, not trying to replace them.”

Big Daddy Kane Wants To Sit Down With The Younger Generation

“I would love to sit down with the likes of like Lil Uzi Vert or Kodak Black or Migos,” he continued, “any of these cats, just to build. I think that’s what’s important when there can be a connection where the past generation can talk with the future generation and give them [the] game.”

In a recent interview with HNHH, Big Daddy Kane discussed the “expiration dates” put on hip hop artists. “They call [older artists] ‘old school’ instead of Hip-Hop legends,” he explained. “In my opinion,” he continued, “it is something that needs to be done, you know? It’s something that needs to be done to show respect. And then also, for a younger generation to see the difference. I would love for the younger generation to say, ‘Damn. They don’t have all that stuff exploding and all of this and they still tore it down. Yeah, I gotta step my stage game up,‘ you know? So that they can have a longer career doing what they do.”

Ice-T Warns Artists About Podcast Appearances, Calls Them “BS”

Musician and actor Ice-T jumped on Twitter last week to warn other artists about appearing on podcasts. He shared a Tweet that reads, “Artist Public Service: Doing Interviews can be risky if you Don’t know what you’re doing.“ He added, “They will talk to you for hours hoping you say one thing they can TWIST and hype up for clicks.” “Unfortunately, most podcasts have now DEVOLVED to this BS. Just saying,” the artist explained.

Last week, Ice-T got called out for opening up about raising his children on the podcast That Moment with Daymond John. He explained that he was much closer to his youngest daughter than his ever was with his other children, because he was in a more stable place in life when he had her. Ice-T then revealed that he wasn’t around as much for his other two kids, calling himself “distracted” at the time. He also described how he was, “rippin’ and running,” adding that “It was presents over presence.” Slowing down later in life allowed him to be “so much more connected” to his 7-year-old daughter Chanel, he said.

Ice-T Calls Out Podcasts

The actor went on to describe being in “a cruise pattern,” during Chanel’s upbringing. This allowed him to be at the hospital when his wife was pregnant, and be around more for his daughter, which he called “a beautiful thing.” He stated, “I think the difference with Chanel and my other kids is I’m very conscious of this baby.” Adding that her birth “made [him] want to live forever. He revealed that Chanel “made [him] create new goals, calling her “the best gift [he] could ever get.”

Ice-T received criticism for what he said during his appearance on the podcast. Users responded to his comments, claiming that it was unfair for the rapper to discuss the subject publicly. Many believed that although Ice-T claimed to have grown in his role as a father over the year, for his other children, it’s likely difficult to hear their father discussing the topic. One user wrote, “Let’s normalize saying things that won’t have children from previous relationships feel slighted.”

“Drink Champs” Podcast: Their Best Interviews

The Drink Champs podcast is known for two things: big guests and long interviews. Hosted by DJ EFN and N.O.R.E., the series began in 2016. Nowadays, most people watch the interviews on YouTube, but the audio version is on streaming services, too. When guests come to Drink Champs, clips of the interviews often go viral. This can be because they lead to other discussions surrounding the person or because of information revealed during the interview. In some adverse cases, an episode goes viral because of how the interview was conducted. These situations typically involve N.O.R.E. Given the podcast’s name, guests are encouraged to sip or take shots during the discussion. This gets them to “loosen up” and often leads to controversial moments. We’ve compiled a list of some of the best interviews from the show.

Snoop Dogg (Episode 310, April 16, 2022)

The Drink Champs podcast has had artists from all generations on it. Snoop Dogg is an artist that has been relevant his entire career. He entered the rap scene as a pioneer in the West Coast rap scene but nowadays can be found doing a show and commercials with Martha Stewart. Because of his length in the game, Snoop has met various artists. These include ones from his generation and ones from the current batch of artists. In his interview, he tells a story about a situation from someone from his generation – Nas. In the story, he speaks about a rather traumatic event that happened to him and his involvement with it. It’s always interesting to hear celebrity figures share tales about interactions with other figures, but it can be chilling to hear about situations like this one.

E-40 ( Episode 31, June 11 2020)

The Drink Champs podcast regularly has guests from the past generation on it. However, these artists are hailed as legends in their field. Due to their age, they may have retracted from regularly putting out music but have entered other entrepreneurial ventures. At the time of this interview, E-40 was still active in both lanes. During his appearance, he shares stories about Tupac and Biggie. He also weaves in advice for reaching financial prosperity. Naturally, this is advice that comes from his own experiences. This interview is easily a very informal one as the drinks are flowing the entire time. Supporters from E-40’s generation have praised the interview for that aspect of it. Fans admired the conversational feeling of it and how it highlights the authenticity of the relationship between him and N.O.R.E.

Patti Labelle (Episode 324, July 29,2022)

The Drink Champs podcast is not just for rap artists. When they expand beyond that world, they still bring in legendary guests. Patti LaBelle is an icon many people respect as an artist and a person. She’s maintained her class her entire career and knows she has nothing left to prove. And the class continued during her interview. When she arrived, they had a red carpet laid out for her. She brought her own wine class that had custom lavender jewels on it. The first thing she talked about was her new phone and the issues she was having with it. Having all of this in the opening moments was a testament to her class and her age in the best and purest way. As the interview continued, she shared stories of her interactions with figures ranging from Richard Pryor to Pharrell

A Tribe Called Quest (Episode 55, January 12, 2017)

The Drink Champs podcast has had legends from several eras of rap. On this episode, they took it back to ’90s east coast hip-hop with their guests, A Tribe Called Quest. At the time of the interview, member Phife Dawg had already passed away. Naturally, both Q-Tip and Jarobi White paid their respects and shared stories of their time with him. They shared a behind-the-scenes tale from when Lupe Fiasco forgot their lyrics during a tribute to them at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors in 2007. Many people remember this as “Fiascogate.” They also told an interesting story about Pharrell and how he connected with them – and was almost on Midnight Marauders. Busta Rhymes also appeared and let listeners know how far back his connection with The Tribe goes. Consequence and DJ Scratch were also on this episode.

Benny The Butcher (Episode 312, April 29, 2022)

Benny is one of two Griselda members that have been on the Drink Champs podcast. He, along with Conway The Machine and Westside Gunn, started The Griselda Movement. This is their revival of gritty lyric-based hip hop. The three original members being a part of an independent label was a big deal, too. Therefore, it was surprising to fans when Benny signed with Def Jam. He spoke on this in the interview and doubled down on it by saying Westside Gunn (the founder of Griselda Records) was proud of him for making that move. He also speaks on working with Drake, linking with Kanye West, and a myriad of other topics related to his continually ascending career. Many of these moments also harkened back to who he is and how he has been carrying himself for years.

Pusha T (Episode 313, May 6, 2022)

This was Pusha T’s second appearance on the Drink Champs podcast. Some people were introduced to him during his Clipse era with his brother Malice. Others were introduced to him as a solo artist once he signed with G.O.O.D Music. Naturally, this interview focused on his more recent years, but he also touched on things from his past. He spoke about his album, It’s Almost Dry, which was half-produced by Pharrell.

Furthermore, Pharrell and Chad Hugo of The Neptunes are a big part of his development, and he also spoke about them. Perhaps the most interesting story was his involvement with the McDonald’s “I’m Lovin It” jingle and his “diss track” with Arby’s. Listeners have praised this interview for the behind-the-scenes info on the album that was a follow-up to what many have called his best solo work.

Pharrell Williams (Episode 241, December 18, 2020)

Pharrell was a guest on the Drink Champs podcast with a wealth of information to share. Since we already mentioned him twice in this list, it’s only fitting we highlight his appearance on the show. Throughout all of his stories, Pharrell’s humble personality shines through. Many know how many people he has worked with, but hearing him talk about it was quite exciting for viewers. His understated energy is a significant contrast to N.O.R.E’s, but this doesn’t stop the interview from being informative. Another Virginia native and collaborator, Fam-Lay, also joined him. Viewers celebrated this conversation because it captured many events in the megaproducer’s legacy in one sitting. Who were some of your favorite guests on Drink Champs? Let us know in the comments section.

Eminem “Got Away” With Disses Because He’s White, Kurupt Says

The Slim Shady hot takes just keep on coming from the rap world, and one artist has a new angle to consider. Kurupt recently expressed that Eminem “got away” with dissing many other artists because he’s white. Moreover, he sat down with The Art of Dialogue and was asked about Melle Mel saying that Em’s only considered top five because of his skin color, comments which he made on the same platform. Furthermore, they related to Billboard and VIBE’s recent list of the top 50 rappers of all time. While the West Coast MC disagreed and said his whiteness doesn’t diminish the sheer skill of his mic and pen, he did state that Mel has a point.

“That’s his opinion. That’s not our opinion,” the “Who Ride Wit Us” rapper remarked. “The way Dr. Dre took Eminem subject matter-wise is one thing; the way Eminem rocked — he’s a battle rapper, so he’s Hip Hop, no matter what color he is. Dr. Dre took him in this way, so that has no bearing on his skill. His skills are renowned.” Still, he acknowledged that Mel is a legend in his own right.

Kurupt On Eminem’s White Privilege In Disses

“But that’s Melle Mel’s feel on it,” Kurupt went on. “Melle Mel is an icon of Hip Hop … Remember, he’s the original Hip Hop so Melle Mel speaks from that standpoint. For my generation, hey, Eminem is our monster. His color is irrelevant. He does have a point, Eminem being white. He might have got away with a lot of things, like him talking about all these different artists and s**t, you know what I’m saying? And not having no backlash to where he’s blackballed.

“But not from his skill,” he continued. “[Being] white had nothing to do with his skills. But he might have got away with a lot of things. S**t, we got away with a lot of things once we became successful! Once you’re successful, you can do whatever you f***ing want, and the game accepts it because they make money off of what you’re doing, so they give you that pass.” Marshall Mathers’ acknowledgement of his privilege, as well as his artistic feuds, are well-documented at this point. However, it’s always useful to consider what factors are at play, and to not place complete blame or responsibility on an artist who’s addressed this topic many times. Regardless, let us know your take in the comments and return to HNHH for the latest on Kurupt and Eminem.
