Doja Cat’s Coachella 2024 Setlist Highlighted ‘Scarlet’ And Revisited Past Favorites

The Scarlet Tour was impressive enough, but Doja Cat brought out all the stops for her headlining Coachella 2024 set on Sunday night, April 14, including 21 Savage, ASAP Rocky, and Teezo Touchdown. In fact, Doja was responsible for three of the best surprise performances across all of Coachella’s first weekend at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. According to Uproxx’s Aaron Williams, Doja “showed what a headliner is supposed to be.”

Unfortunately, Doja is very offline right now — only temporarily interrupting her social media hiatus to announce her “MASC” single and promote her Scarlet deluxe album — so she didn’t share an unfiltered self-review like she almost assuredly would have done if she had headlined Coachella before her social media hiatus took hold.

So, you’ll have to settle for a plain ol’ delivery of Doja Cat’s full Coachella 2024 setlist below, as chronicled on setlist.fm.

Doja Cat & Teezo Touchdown Talk About The Difficulties Of Relationships On “MASC”

Doja Cat had fans’ eyes raised when she dropped a trailer last week for an upcoming track on Scarlet 2: CLAUDE. The R&B cut teased the music video along with a secret but familiar silhouette. Massive shoulder pads had people guessing that it was Teezo Touchdown. Those assumptions were right on the money when the deluxe dropped over the weekend. Doja Cat and Teezo’s collab “MASC” is about the complexities of relationships and common issues that can arise.

One selling point of the track is of course these two talents teaming up together for the first time. Both have proven to be very versatile, being able to sing and rap over a variety of instrumentals. “MASC” showcases the first of those two skills, with Doja opening things up with a sticky melody and cadence. “Boy, we way too grown / For this s*** (Mm),” she sings.

Listen To “MASC” By Doja Cat & Teezo Touchdown

Teezo comes in on the third verse and delivers some powerful vocals as well. However, while we feel this a team-up that makes a lot of sense and has its moments, some of the lyrics are little eye-rolling. “Everybody doin’ you like dances up on TikTokMy favorite cup, okay, enough to keep it G,” are just a couple that feel out of place. But it is sure to be one of the favorites from the deluxe, so be sure to hop on the hype train while you can.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “MASC,” by Doja Cat and Teezo Touchdown? Is this the best track on her brand-new deluxe album Scarlet 2: CLAUDE, why or why not? What is your favorite element of the track and why? Is this the best bonus track on the project? Are you preferring this version over the original? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Quotable Lyrics:

Look at me, I’m packing my stuff, I’m ’bout to leave
We breakin’ up, you mean it this time, okay, so do I
Make sure I sweep, I don’t wanna leave my charger and keys
My favorite cup, okay, enough to keep it G
I’m not that tough, I need your love, I need your touch
I need your time, I need your feet cuddlin’ mine (Honey, I need)

Doja Cat And Teezo Touchdown Share High-Contrast Music Video For Their New Collab “MASC”

Overnight, Doja Cat released the deluxe edition of her album Scarlet, which originally dropped last year. The deluxe is called Scarlet 2 CLAUDE and features seven new songs added to the original tracklist. She surprised fans with the song “URRRGE” which sports a feature from A$AP Rocky. The other new feature in the tracklist was announced ahead of time. Earlier this week Doja teased her new single “MASC” which features Teezo Touchdown.

In tandem with the release of the new deluxe album, they also shared a new music video for “MASC.” The video has already racked up almost 400k views and is trending on YouTube even amid a busy week for major new releases. The video itself features Doja and Teezo lit by spotlights in an otherwise pitch-black room highlighting the eccentricities of their looks. Doja delivers two outfits, one fittingly on the masculine side and the other channeling her more old-school feminine looks. The video has already been met with tons of praise from fans despite its stark presentation. Check out the full new visuals for “MASC” below.

Doja Cat And Teezo Touchdown Team Up For New Video

With J. Cole dropping an entire new mixtape featuring a response to Kendrick Lamar, rap beefs are fresh on a lot of fans minds right now. But earlier today Doja assured her fans that she isn’t dissing anybody in her music and isn’t getting into any beef anytime soon. “I don’t get in rap beefs,” she said in a Twitter post shutting down rumors before they could even get started.

Earlier this week, Doja Cat first announced that “MASC” was on the way. With the announcement she shared the artwork that would eventually come with the single. Fans weren’t exactly crazy about the close-up photo of her hair that she chose. The backlash was loud enough that she eventually had to respond to it, asking fans to move on. What do you think of Doja Cat’s new music video for “MASC?” What’s your favorite song off of the deluxe edition of Scarlet? Let us know in the comment section below.

Doja Cat And Teezo Touchdown’s Surreal ‘MASC’ Video Is An Avant-Garde Fantasy

The deluxe version of Doja Cat’s album Scarlet, Scarlet 2 Claude, has arrived, bringing seven new tracks to the project including “URRRGE!!!!!!!!!!” featuring ASAP Rocky and “MASC” with Teezo Touchdown. The latter gets an avant-garde music video, with Doja and Teezo singing their respective verses in some haute couture ensembles as Doja casts creepy shadows and directors Doja and Jamal Peters have some fun with camera angles, lighting, and lens distortions.

“MASC” finds Doja Cat admonishing a lover as his combative behaviors make her question their relationship. “You gave me the dick, then gave the dick without the D,” she raps. Teezo inhabits the role of the scorned beau as he takes stock and realizes, “I’m not that tough, I need your love, I need your touch.”

Scarlet 2 Claude had a bit of a bumpy rollout. After Doja teased she was planning to release a deluxe edition of Scarlet in January, the fan frenzy for it backfired as it leaked online days before the release date. Doja played it cool, though, writing, “its definitely messed up cuz i wanted to put it out myself but theres nothing i can do about it!! thats just how its gonna be but at least i can just keep being creative and look forward to the awesome things i have coming up!!”

She also shut down some fans’ assumptions that she took shots at Cardi B on one of the leaked songs, telling one fan to “get a life” in response to being asked directly about any beef between the two stars.

Teezo Touchdown Has Six Legs And An Angelic Voice In The ‘First Night’ Video With Denzel Curry, Juicy J, Cochise, And Lil B

On January 26, Cole Bennett shepherded All Is Yellow, his first-ever Lyrical Lemonade compilation album, into the world. Bennett promised a video would accompany each of the album’s 14 tracks, and the prolific director is keeping his word by slowly releasing them from the vault, including “Fly Away” in February and “Doomsday 2” earlier this month. On Wednesday, March 20, the Bennett-directed video for “First Night” with Teezo Touchdown, Juicy J, Cochise, Denzel Curry, and Lil B arrived.

As has become customary with Lyrical Lemonade videos, the “First Night” video begins with an all-yellow curtain as the backdrop. A stretched-out Teezo sits in front of it — with six legs sprawled in front of him — as he sings, “Come and let me teach you how to sing / Oh, you didn’t know that I could sing? Oh, girl, you know that I can sing The whole world know that I can sing.” Teezo ends the first verse with a request: “Somebody help me sing about me.”

That cues a trap beat to drop and Juicy J to emerge from behind a yellow curtain. Similarly to Teezo, Juicy J has cartoonishly humongous hands. Eventually, Cochise and Curry join Juicy J in the empty movie theater — spitting shameless, whiplash-inducing bars about no-strings sex and money.

In the serene outro, Lil B plays devil’s advocate: You know, one-night stands are alright / But love is the greatest / Having sex on the first night is cool / But we could wait / It’s so much love in this world / Take your time, ask questions first, let’s talk / It’s so much respect in the air / Don’t worry about it / But you could f*ck, too, if you want / But don’t feel like you got to.”

Lil B disappears behind the yellow curtain as Teezo Touchdown restarts his intro.

Zack Bia & Teezo Touchdown Team Up For Trippy Dance Cut “DAMN!”

Drake co-signee Zack Bia has been tearing it up over the past year or so, finally releasing his own material. The multi-hyphenate DJ can be heard working with some of the top-notch artists in hip-hop right now. He impressed fans at the beginning of 2023 with his Don Toliver collaboration “Hardcore.” That would be his first solo release of his career, even though he has been in music business for years. Now, Zack Bia is teaming up with Teezo Touchdown for another club banger “DAMN!”

This marks these two artists first time hitting the recording both together and we are loving the oddness of the song. It is extremely trippy, especially if you watch the accompanying music video. The randomness of it all elevates the song’s weirdness factor by a factor of five. Additionally, this further cements the growing aura around Teezo Touchdown.

He is really separating himself from a lot of the competition on the hip-hop adjacent lane. The Texan artist has marketed himself brilliantly to where you can never pigeonhole him to one genre. As for Zack, his reputation is only going to skyrocket from here. Hopefully, we get an LP from the New York-based producer.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “DAMN!,” by Zack Bia and Teezo Touchdown? Is this one of his strongest tracks so far, why or why not? What is your favorite element of the song and why? Has Teezo given him the best feature so far? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Teezo Touchdown Cover Talking Heads’ “Making Flippy Floppy” For A24

Teezo Touchdown has quickly become one of the most sought after multi-hyphenates in the music industry. We primarly cover him when it pertains to hip-hop crossovers. However, this instance is for something totally different. After nabbing a big time placement on Lyrical Lemonade and Cole Bennett’s debut tape All is Yellow, the Texan is now assisting an indie film company with a soundtrack. That brand is A24, who in the latter half of last year got the chance to re-release the Talking Heads’ independent 1984 concert film Stop Making Sense. Teezo Touchdown is one of the artists that is going to be featured on the soundtrack as he covers Talking Heads’ “Making Flippy Floppy.”

According to Uproxx, alt rock band Paramore were the first to cover a track from the 1983 record Speaking In Tongues. They remade “Burning Down the House,” and now Teezo is the second artist to make the cut. The 40th anniversary remaster of the film hit theaters on September 22. However, the accompanying project of covers is still awaiting a release date.

However, we do have the name of the project, which is Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Stop Making Sense Tribute Album. The Talking Heads and Teezo Touchdown are honestly a mirroring image of each other. Both are extremely unconventional artists which makes things conventional in that sense. Teezo’s wild and entertaining voice steal the show and it would making Talking Heads proud.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Making Flippy Floppy,” by Teezo Touchdown? Is he the best genre-bending hip-hop adjacent artist out right now, why or why not? What was your favorite element of the song and why? Should he do more Talking Heads covers? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Teezo Touchdown. Finally, stay with us for the most informative song posts throughout the week.

Teezo Touchdown Teamed Up With A24 To Cover A Talking Heads Deep Cut For A ‘Stop Making Sense’ Re-Release

Last August, film nerd favorite indie distributor A24 announced it had acquired the rights to re-release the Talking Heads concert film, Stop Making Sense. Then, early this year, A24 revealed that a tribute album to the film — and the works of the quirky, inventive band’s expansive discography — called Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute To Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense was in the works (with a suitably David Byrne-ish title, no less). After sharing Paramore’s cover of “Burning Down The House” last month, the next release from the tribute is Teezo Touchdown’s cover of “Making Flippy Floppy.”

The Texas artist is a fitting choice, as his own music refuses categorization or simplification. An album cut from the Heads’ 1983 album Speaking In Tongues, “Making Flippy Floppy” is perhaps less well-known than tracks like “Once In A Lifetime” or “This Must Be the Place,” but its funky bassline and elastic groove translate well in Teezo’s hands. While it’s a relatively straightforward cover that doesn’t try to get too cheeky or experimental, Teezo’s enthusiasm for the material is clear in his full-throated delivery of each line.

Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute To Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense will mirror the original soundtrack album’s tracklist, with contributions from BADBADNOTGOOD, Blondshell, The Cavemen, Chicano Batman Feat. Money Mark, DJ Tunez, El Mató a un Policía Motorizado, Girl in Red, Jean Dawson, Kevin Abstract, The Linda Lindas, Lorde, Miley Cyrus, The National, and Toro y Moi

2024 looks like the year for cover projects inspired by films; the Bob Marley biopic One Love spawned its own covers EP with takes on Wailers classics from the likes of Leon Bridges, Daniel Caesar, and more.

Teezo Touchdown Scores Big On Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

While it’s not the most stacked one in our history, this R&B Season playlist update still contains some of the best music to have dropped this week. Leading the way is the star-studded Lyrical Lemonade album All Is Yellow, put together by Cole Bennett and all the supporting artists. One of the most soulful and tender cuts on the project is the excellent “Hummingbird,” which reunites a compelling and eclectic cast. Teezo Touchdown, SahBabii, and UMI come together with a lot of chemistry over some acoustic guitar flutters and harmonious background vocals. Not only that, but it also finds each musician slightly out of their comfort zone thanks to the unexpected nature of this collab, although Teezo is certainly cozy with surprises and fusions.

Next on our R&B Season playlist update is Rhyan Douglas’ new single “Conversations,” which kicks off with woozy and swirling vocal samples. Eventually, it falls into the sultry and snap-led R&B rhythm that we’ve grown to love from the genre, complete with high-pitched, ethereal croons. Eventually, vocal processing, soft piano, and dynamic range from Douglas fleshes out the song a little bit more, yet it doesn’t lose its atmosphere. In fact, it’s impressive and surprising that the record never swells or explodes percussively, yet you can still feel a strong momentum as you’re closing it out.

HNHH R&B Season Playlist: Stream

Meanwhile, back to projects on our R&B Season playlist, we have a new four-track EP (Blended) from Emotional Oranges and Nonso Amadi. It’s a light, breezy, and easy-going bite-sized treat of dancehall, Afrobeat, and soul fusions, of which “Simple Things” is a particular highlight. Again, we have guitars leading the way melodically and chord-wise, whereas all vocalists can show off their range and runs in this lovey-dovey narrative. While the identity of the song is a bit blurry, this treatment of different styles is also what will make it resonate for many listeners out there.

Finally, we have a new release from SiR, the two-and-a-half-minute slow burn “No Evil.” Thanks to growly bass, soaring and raspy vocals, and the otherwise dreamy atmosphere on the song, this is one of the most passionate and hard-hitting cuts you’ll find all week, even if it’s a little strong on the ears on first impact. With that in mind, let us know what your favorite R&B Season playlist pick was this week -– and what else we missed, too. Check out the new additions above and log back into HNHH for the latest great music releases around the clock.
