Ice Spice Discusses Her First Grammys Experience With An All-Star Panel On “The Shop”

In the newest episode of LeBron James’ HBO talk show The Shop, they discuss the Grammys. Much of the attention following the release of the episode went to Travis Scott’s comments, and it’s easy to see why. He’s been nominated for a Grammy ten different times and hasn’t taken home a single win. While his fans are frustrated by the snubs, he seems to still have a lot of respect for the Grammy Academy. He spoke favorably about what the award means and how much he’d still like to win one.

Ice Spice also hasn’t won any Grammys, but this was only her first ever time attending. She picked up her first ever nominations for her Nicki Minaj collab “Barbie World,” but it didn’t win either category it was nominated for. Spice didn’t seem bothered by that one bit though. She explained that she was just happy to be there and wasn’t expecting to win anyway. Afterwards she discussed the after party where she met artists she’s idolized for years like Ed Sheeran and Beyonce. Check out the clip of her discussing her Grammys experience below.

One of the songs in particular got fan’s attention when it sounded like she was taking more shots at Latto. She first dissed the “Big Energy” rapper last year when she dropped the deluxe version of her Like…? EP.

Travis Scott is one of the biggest stars in not just rap music, but music period. He’s fresh off the release of his album UTOPIA last year, his first since 2018’s Astroworld. He discusses a time when the Grammys used to be more respected and sought after, then confesses that he still views the awards with that idyllic image. Tyla Didn’t Know Who Nancy Pelosi Was Despite Grammys Photo

Tyla has admitted hat she “had no idea” who Nancy Pelosi was when the former Speaker of the House asked for a picture at the Grammys. “I had no idea. I didn’t know who she was, honestly, but I think she may have known [me] because she asked to take a picture with me.” The photo of the two soon made the rounds online, which left many wanting to know the backstory. I was like, ‘OK, cool,”. She held my hand, and I was like, ‘Are you sure we should hold hands?’ Because I didn’t know. I was kind of feeling a bit tight, but she was like, ‘Hold my hand, hold my hand.’ It was cute,” Tyla told PEOPLE.

However, someone Tyla did recognize was Cher. “I was like, ‘What the heck?’ I was literally in so much shock. I love her. She’s always been an inspo. I can’t wait to even tell my kids, that’s how much of a good time I had,” the singer gushed.

GloRilla Dodges Joe Biden Endorsement While Discussing White House Trip

Elsewhere, GloRilla made sure to keep herself firmly apolitical when talking about her recent trip to the White House. Glo shut down CNN when the outlet asked her if she had been invited to the White House to endorse Joe Biden. “That ain’t got nothing to do with me. I’m just livin’ life like it’s golden,” Glo replied. Glo attended a White House function earlier this week as part of Women’s History Month. This included a semi-viral moment in which she got President Biden to say “Yeah Glo”.

Of course, Glo’s star continues to shine brighter and brighter. Last month, she linked up with LeBron James in LA. LeBron stopped to take pictures with the Memphis femcee as well as enjoying a brief conversation with her. Furthermore, LeBron was also seen singing along to “Yeah, Glo!” when it was played over the Crypto.com Arena PA and was also reportedly seen dancing to more of her music in the locker room.

Killer Mike Shares Jay-Z’s Reaction To His Grammy Wins & Arrest

Killer Mike’s now-infamous Grammys run in 2024 is fortunately a much more positive affair to look back on that what it was to witness. That has nothing to do with his incredible three-for-three sweep in his nominated categories, but rather with the fact that authorities arrested him shortly after. Since then, the Atlanta legend’s made his peace with the minor incident, and spoke to The Breakfast Club on Wednesday (February 14) about the whole ordeal. During this conversation, he revealed some interesting background about how Jay-Z reacted, whose Global Impact Award speech created a viral Grammys moment of his own.

“What’s cr*zy is Jay was hitting me,” Killer Mike told the radio program, recalling that night at the Grammys. “I didn’t realize, as I was going through my thing, Jay was hitting me like, ‘Hold on, stick around, I want to toast you.’ And then he hit me later and was like, ‘I was going to concede my time to you for the speech.’ So shout out to Hov! It’s love, though. Me and him laughed. He said, ‘You wanted to go and get locked up during the biggest moment.’ I was laughing, it was hilarious.”

Killer Mike Reveals How Jay-Z Reacted To His Grammys Journey

“It could be,” Killer Mike expressed when asked whether this arrest happened for a deeper reason and whether conspiracy theories played a part. “But look. It didn’t work against Martin [Luther King Jr.], it didn’t work against Malcolm [X], didn’t work against Mandela. Didn’t work against Method. Whatever the devil give you… God, if you stay in tune, man, he’ll multiply the good over the bad.”

“I’m thankful for the Grammys, I’m thankful for the bulls**t,” he said of his overall experience. “Bulls**t is the best fertilizer on the farm. I got a chance to sit by myself for three hours and thank God and invoke praise and be grateful for the things that I received.” Let us know what you think about all these developments and revelations in the comments section down below. Killer Mike Clashes With “The View” Host Over Brian Kemp Support

Killer Mike has a surprising and particularly notable start to his February. He took home a sweep of the rap Grammys this year winning Best Rap Album for his project Michael. He also took home Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for his track “SCIENTISTS & ENGINEERS” with Future, Andre 3000, and Erin Allen Kane. But as soon as fans online were processing those wins, videos of Mike being escorted out of the ceremony in handcuffs began making the rounds online. It took days for the details of the situation to eventually fully unravel.

When Mike did eventually sit down to discuss the night’s events he did so in a surprising place. He sat down with the panel on The View to discuss his night at the Grammys and his own political activism. When addressing his Grammys arrest he chose to valorize the night. He called out many of his political heroes who have also been arrested in the past. But during the next segment, he dug into politics where he found himself going back and forth with one of the show’s hosts Sunny Hostin. That came from a surprising comment Mike made giving the Republican Governor of Georgia Brian Kemp credit for his impact on business. Check out the full clip of his interview below.

Killer Mike Debating Sunny Hostin On “The View”

After his comments about Kemp, Hostin responds saying that he lost her when he supported Brian Kemp. Mike replies trying to add context to the claim. “Not support of Kemp, that’s misinformation, you can not like me but don’t lie on me. He’s the governor of my state so I have to be involved with him because I can’t divorce myself,” Mike explained.

“But let me say this, if you criticize someone don’t lie. Don’t say I didn’t support Abrams, because I did. Don’t say that I don’t support Democrats because I helped get three Democratic mayors elected,” Killer Mike elaborated. What do you think of Killer Mike defending his own positive comments about Brian Kemp? Let us know in the comment section below.

Killer Mike Discusses His Grammys Arrest Following Big Wins

Killer Mike had a complicated weekend at the Grammys earlier this month. He took home a trio of awards in the rap category. The headliner of the bunch was Best Rap Album which he took home for his record Michael. One of the standout tracks from the album is “SCIENTISTS & ENGINEERS” which sees Mike teaming up with Future, Andre 3000, and Eryn Allen Kane. The song took home the Grammys for both Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance.

But as soon as fans were celebrating his big night, things got complicated. Videos of Mike being led out of the ceremony in handcuffs began to flood online resulting in confusion from many fans. That was only moderately clarified when news eventually came out about a confrontation back stage that resulted in a misdemeanor assault charge. Thankfully he was released pretty quicky and was able to get right back to celebrating his big night. During a recent appearance on The View, Mike reflected on the situation. Check out what he had to say about it below.

Killer Mike On His Grammys Arrest

In his response, Killer Mike seemed to valorize his arrest. “All of my heroes have been in handcuffs – Malcolm, Martin, Mandela, Medgar. I walked out with the same dignity and respect that I walked in with, and I would implore people to just take that from it,” he began. Later in the interview, he did confess to being a little “overzealous” while celebrating his win backstage. Exactly what happened that led to his arrest still isn’t entirely clear.

Recently, Killer Mike also made an announcement about more music that has fans excited. he confirmed that his Grammy winning album MICHAEL is the first in a trilogy of releases he has planned. He didn’t clarify when fans can expect the next part but that didn’t dampen anybody’s excitement. What do you think of Killer Mike’s reflection on being arrested after winning three Grammys? Killer Mike Responds To Kai Cenat’s Complaints About His Grammy Sweep

Killer Mike is having an absolute victory lap of a week. The rapper recently took home an impressive sweep of hip-hop Grammys at the 2024 ceremony. His new album MICHAEL took home the award for Best Rap Album of the year. The standout track from the album is called “Scientists & Engineers” and it features Future, Andre 3000, and Eryn Allen Kane. The track took home two more Grammys of its own for both Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance.

Unsurprisingly though, fanbases of others rappers who were nominated came for Mike online. The biggest backlash likely came from Nicki Minaj’s Barbs and they did at least have a reason to be frustrated. The official Grammys Twitter account mistakenly tweeted out about Nicki’s and “Barbie World” winning one of the awards, which it didn’t. That led them to get angry at Mike for actually winning the award. Another upset fanbase was that of Travis Scott, whose album UTOPIA lost to Killer Mike’s for best rap album. One of Scott’s biggest fans, streamer Kai Cenat, followed up the Award Show with a viral rant aimed at Mike and now the rapper is standing up for himself.

Killer Mike Takes The High Road With Kai Cenat

Killer Mike started his response by thanking Kai for mentioning him on stream at all. But he quickly gets into the jokes. “I wanna come to the room, I wanna bring you a broom” Mike jokes. It’s a reference to the viral acceptance speech he delivered after winning his third Grammy in a row, calling it a Grammy sweep.

Just after winning the award, Killer Mike was arrested. Before any information was made available online, videos of him being led out of the pre-show in handcuffs made the rounds. Thankfully, he was released shortly after and got right back to celebrating his trio of wins. What do you think of Killer Mike’s response to Kai Cenat not knowing who he is? T.I. Reacts To Killer Mike’s Grammys Arrest: “It Was An Atrocity”

Over the weekend, Killer Mike scored big at the 66th Annual Grammys. The performer took home awards for Best Rap Album for Michael, as well as Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “Scientists & Engineers.” Soon after he accepted his awards, however, the evening took an unfortunate turn. He was taken away from the ceremony in handcuffs for a misdemeanor battery charge. Allegedly, Killer Mike had knocked down a security officer who wouldn’t get out of his way nearby.

While the arrest took many fans by surprise, T.I. recently told Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 that he can relate. “It was an atrocity,” he said of the arrest. “To be honest with you, Killer Mike going and sweeping the Grammys, winning three Grammys and then getting arrested and going to jail at the same event in the same venue, is the story of the Black man in America.”

T.I. Calls Killer Mike Incident “The Story Of The Black Man In America”

“You can’t really celebrate success,” he continued. “You can’t really reap the benefits, enjoy the fruits of your labor, because there’s always somebody who tryna bring you back to the reality of a Black man in America, ya dig? … [Rap] Album of the Year, that’s hard. Congratulations, man. You know, even though, what does a Grammy mean, for real? What is it worth if you can’t even enjoy the night and celebrate without getting arrested?”

T.I. went on, “What is the true value? I’m asking the question, like for real. Why should we really aim for that when we go to jail in the same building we get the Grammy. I mean, how valuable is it?” T.I. later joked that Killer Mike is “infringing on [his] intellectual property,” as he himself was arrested in 2007 hours before his scheduled BET Hip Hop Awards performance. What do you think of Killer Mike getting taken away from the Grammys in handcuffs after winning various awards? What about T.I.’s take on the incident? Kirk Franklin Finally Responds To Katt Williams “Club Shay Shay” Interview

Kirk Franklin has finally responded after being name-checked by Katt Williams in his Club Shay Shay interview last month. “You just shake your head. It’s like, ‘Lord, have mercy!’ because I don’t know where it’s going. But shout out to Katt Williams. I just think that there are so many voices right now that are having the opportunity to speak their journey, their experiences. And I just think that it’s important for everyone to have a platform to tell the truth and their story. I don’t think anybody should be silenced, anybody should be censored. I think that every human being has the right to tell their voice and their story,” Franklin told HipHopDX at the Grammys.

Franklin got off lighter than most of the people mentioned by Williams during the now-viral interview. The more prevalent course of action was that if Williams was mentioning you, you were about to get skewered by the veteran actor and comedian. This has led to a wave of backlash ever since the interview came out. Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish both offered differing responses to Williams. Meanwhile, Ludacris felt strongly enough to hit Williams with a freestyle diss.

Katt Williams Club Shay Shay Interview Spoofed On Saturday Night Live

Meanwhile, SNL dedicated a skit during their January 21 show to spoofing Williams’ much talked-about interview. Ego Nwodim played Williams while Devin Walker played Shannon Sharpe. The skit was billed as the “eight-hour extended version” of the interview. “Three things are true about me. I am 5’3, I have never told a lie, and I am 6’3,” Nwodim’s Williams says. Furthermore, the skit featured several jokes about Williams’ comments about Kevin Hart. “Look, Hollywood made Kevin Hart. Everyone knows Kevin Hart was made in the same factory where they make Teddy Grahams. Why the hell he smell like cinnamon?” ranted Williams. Other targets of Nwodim’s Williams included Barak Obama and included Williams claiming he invented fruit.

Meanwhile, Renee Rapp brought out Megan Thee Stallion as part of her Saturday Night Live musical spot. The pair performed their collab “Not My Fault”, which they recorded for the newly released Mean Girls remake. The film is not directly a remake of the 2004 film, but a blend of the original film and the wildly popular Broadway musical. Furthermore, Rapp also performed her track “Snow Angel”, from her album of the same name released last year.
