Travis Scott Gets Candid Discussing His Grammys Snubs

Travis Scott is one of the biggest stars in not just rap music, but music period. He’s fresh off the release of his album UTOPIA last year, his first since 2018’s Astroworld. Astroworld received one nomination with its hit single “Sicko Mode” locking up two more. UTOPIA also scored a nomination for Best Rap Album. Ultimately, Scott lost the category to Killer Mike’s Michael as part of a sweep of the rap category that resulted in three wins for the Run The Jewels rapper.

Adding in his work with other artists like Kanye West and SZA, Travis Scott has 10 total Grammy nominations and 0 wins. While you would think that would affect his opinion of the institution, he still sees the award as an admirable goal. During a recent interview he discussed the respect he still has for the Grammys. “A lot of my peers, everyone is like, ‘f*ck that award.’ I actually f*ck with it,” his statement begins. He discusses a time when the Grammys used to be more respected and sought after, then confesses that he still views the awards with that idyllic image. He even goes as far as comparing making music to win Grammys to basketball and football teams trying to win championships. Check out the clips where he discusses the award show below.

The Alchemist Reacts To Billboard’s “Best Hip-Hop Producers” List Snub

The Alchemist keeps proving himself as one of the game’s best producers year after year, but it seems like not everyone’s caught up. Moreover, Billboard recently put out their list of the 25 best hip-hop producers of all time, including Dr. Dre, The Neptunes, J Dilla, and many more. However, Uncle Al didn’t make the list, something that many hip-hop fans lamented online despite the incredibly steep competition across the culture’s 50 years. Via Twitter on Thursday (December 28), he suggested that he was pretty unbothered by the lack of mention while maintaining that the important thing is to focus on proving yourself right every single time.

“but my mommy said i’m the best!!! lol,” The Alchemist joked along with a praying hands emoji in response to Billboard‘s ranking. “Just keep going cr*zy,” he added about an hour later on the social media platform, seemingly continuing his train of thought. “Ignore the scoreboard. By the time they do the math you’ll be so up that it won’t even matter.” Given the California native’s incredible and prolific run of projects and credits in the 2020s decade alone, it’s clear that he’s not slowing down at all in this regard.

The Alchemist Responds To Billboard Omitting Him From Best Rap Producers List

Most recently– in fact, just yesterday at press time– The Alchemist released Hall & Nash 2, a collaborative tape with Conway The Machine and Westside Gunn. This was originally meant to be a sequel mixtape to the original Hall & Nash by the Griselda duo over half a decade ago. Alas, they used some of these tracks like “Ray Mysterio” for other projects, but they now released the original version of the record for fans to enjoy. Not only that, but apparently they’re coming through with an revamped version later in 2024, which should be very exciting.

Meanwhile, the 46-year-old also has some new music with Yasiin Bey coming soon, of which he previewed some at a recent show. As his collaborations expand and his status further cements itself in the contemporary game, he becomes much more than just a legend. LeBron’s still putting up spectacular numbers… why can’t beatmakers do the same? For more news and the latest updates on The Alchemist, log back into HNHH.

Florida State “Disgusted” By CFP Snub Despite Undefeated Season

Florida State head coach Mike Norvell said he was “disgusted” after the undefeated Seminoles finished fifth in the College Football Playoff rankings. “I am disgusted and infuriated with the committee’s decision today to have what was earned on the field taken away because a small group of people decided they knew better than the results of the games,” Norvell said in a statement. “What is the point of playing games? Do you tell players it is OK to quit if someone goes down? Do you not play a senior on Senior Day for fear of injury? Where is the motivation to schedule challenging nonconference games?” Norvell said. It’s the first time in the history of the CFP that an undefeated conference champion didn’t make the playoffs.

Furthermore, the committee’s decision meant that the 13-0 Seminoles were left out of the four-team playoff in favor of two one-loss teams. Texas (No. 3) and Alabama (No. 4) both made the cut as one-loss conference champions. It is was ta spate of late-season injuries at quarterback that cost Florida State their place in the last four-team playoff. Instead, the Seminoles will play Georgia in the Orange Bowl on Christmas Eve. Georgia lost the SEC Championship to Alabama.

Michigan Headlines CFP Bracket

Just four teams remain in contention for the college football National Championship. They are headlined by Michigan, the Big 10’s undefeated powerhouse. Sign-stealing allegations aside, Michigan has been a monster this season and boasts the best defense in the nation. They face Alabama, who leapt into the top-four after knocking off Georgia. The Crimson Tide looked dead in the water after their Week Two loss to Texas. However, they bounced back to rattle off eleven consecutive wins and now appear in their eighth CFP bracket.

Meanwhile, Washington completed an undefeated season to become the first Pac-12 team since 2016 to reach the CFP bracket. Ironically, they achieved it in the final season of the Pac-12 as we know it. While Washington’s defense has been shaky at times, they are led by Heisman contender Michael Penix Jr at quarterback. They face Texas, who routed Oklahoma State in the Longhorns‘ final Big 12 game. Texas enter as a one-loss champion, having fallen to Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry earlier in the season. Despite the hype around Arch Manning, it has been returning QB Quinn Ewers who has helped steer Texas to their first CFP appearance.

50 Cent & Evanescence’s 2004 Grammys Spat Has Singer Amy Lee Sure Fif Still “Hates [Her] Guts”

As he moves towards his fifties, Curtis Jackson is likely reflecting on the growth in himself since first coming up in the industry. The early years of his career saw 50 Cent acting far more recklessly than he ever does now. For the most part, the Power producer keeps us laughing with his reaction posts on social media these days, but in the mid-2000s, he wasn’t afraid to storm award show stages long before Kanye West ever did.

If you tuned into the 2004 Grammys nearly two decades ago, you may recall the tension in the air when Fif lost the award for Best New Artist to Evanescence. In an interview with the Daily Beast, lead singer Amy Lee spoke about the moment when Jackson joined her and guitarist Ben Moody on stage as she gave her acceptance speech. “50 Cent hates my guts,” she told the outlet, adding herself to the “I Get Money” hitmaker’s long list of enemies.

50 Cent Wasn’t Happy About Losing Artist of the Year

Despite how awkward it all looked on TV at the time, Lee insists the moment “wasn’t that bad” in real life. “He just sort of like, made an appearance. It was like Zoolander when he thought he won,” she joked. While his disdain is obvious, the “Bring Me To Life” singer says she’s never had a chance to discuss Fif being snubbed with him. However, he publicly discussed the moment as recently as 2020, while accepting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “You got the largest debut hip hop album [but] you don’t got no Best New Artist trophy,” the lyricist ranted during his ceremony.

“The Best New Artist, they gave that shit to Evanescence… Can you find fucking Evanescence? I ain’t seen Evanescence since that night. Since that night they gave them the trophy,” he added. Even with the hate, the band has no intentions of getting into a Twitter war with Jackson anytime soon. Amy Lee isn’t the only one who’s still feeling the sting of 50 Cent’s wrath. The New Yorker’s followers will know that he’s had his foot heavily on Sean Combs’ neck following harrowing allegations from Cassie and others in the industry, and he’s not showing signs of letting up anytime soon. Flau’jae Johnson Calls Out Latto For “Put It On Da Floor Again” Snub

“Put It On Da Floor Again”, the remix collab between Latto and Cardi Bi, is one of the hottest tracks of the past month. The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at #13. It’s Latto’s highest-charting single since “Big Energy” in 2021, which peaked at #3. It’s Latto’s second charting release of the year. “Lottery ft. Lu Kala” peaked at #86.

The track was also accompanied by a music video, featuring the two big-name rappers. Also cameoing in the video was Angel Reese, the superstar of LSU’s women’s basketball team. Cardi also name-checked LSU in her verse, leading to the program offering her an invite to campus. However, not everyone is happy with the video.

Flau’jae Johnson Asks Why She Wasn’t In The “Put It On Da Floor Again” Video

Speaking on The Baller Alert Show, Johnson was asked about why she wasn’t in the video for “Put It On Da Floor Again”. “Latto she hit me about it, the day before,” Johnson explained. “She was like ‘I want you to be in the video.’ I was like, ‘I’m in LA right now. But yeah we can make it happen.’ But we didn’t make it happen. “Her people never hit my people. I seen she had asked Angel like a week before. And I was like, ‘okay, maybe she ain’t really want me in the video for real. But she had to ask, ’cause we kind of had a relationship before and she put Angel in it. I didn’t really care because Angel was in it and that was a big moment for women’s basketball, and at the same time, why wouldn’t you put me in it?”

She continued. “It just makes sense. I did the remix, it went viral!.” Johnson did indeed remix the song. Her freestyle remix garnered a fair amount of controversy after right-wing media outlets expressed outrage that Johnson referenced 9/11 during her verse. Johnson subsequently apologized for that incident. However, Johnson doesn’t appear too upset, just a little sad that she didn’t get the chance to cameo. Maybe she can get that J.Cole collab she has previously called “her dream” instead. Follow all the latest sports and music news here at HotNewHipHop.

Samuel L. Jackson’s Tony Loss Reaction Trends On Twitter

Samuel L. Jackson has spent nearly three-quarters of a century walking the Earth, and in that time he’s achieved plenty of accolades. The multi-talent has over 200 acting credits on IMDb to his name and is known to be the second highest-grossing actor of all time, with his previous projects bringing in upwards of $27 billion across the globe. While he’s been nominated for several awards over the years, Jackson doesn’t always win (despite his immense talent). The Pulp Fiction star doesn’t seem to be too bothered by this, and even recently admitted he’d rather play the role of Marvel’s Nick Fury than pick another character just because they’re likely to earn him an Oscar.

On Sunday (June 11), Jackson was among the many famous faces on the red carpet at the Tony Awards, where he was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play. The production the 74-year-old appeared in was directed by his wife, LaTanya, who accompanied him to the event. When it was announced that Brandon Uranowitz beat Samuel in the category, cameras caught a comedic reaction on his face, seemingly hinting that he wasn’t expecting to win in the first place.

Brandon Uranowitz Comes Out on Top

Since the moment aired on live television, social media has been cracking jokes about the Star Wars actor. “Sam Jackson never bothers with the fake ‘I’m so happy for them’ face and honestly, I appreciate it,” one person pointed out. “Wow, Samuel L. Jackson DOES NOT want to be at the Tony’s,” another user speculated.

Thankfully, the Washington, D.C. native was later able to redeem himself while presenting the prize for Best Play along with LaTanya. During their time on the stage, he referred to himself as “Samuel L. ‘it’s an honour to be nominated’ Jackson.”

Consequence Slams Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame For A Tribe Called Quest Omission

Consequence called out the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Wednesday, voicing his frustration that the organization snubbed A Tribe Called Quest once again. He discussed the Class of 2023 selections during an interview with TMZ, which he recorded at the group’s mural in Queens, NY.

“This is the family tree for me,” Cons said of the group. “This the tree that brought you G.O.O.D Music. This the tree that allowed Common Sense to be Common. This is the right-hand man to De La Soul. Stop me when I’m lying.”

“What we not gonna do is keep subjugating that name, A Tribe Called Quest, to a white popularity contest,” Consequence further added. He later congratulated Missy Elliott and the many other artists who did make it into the Class of 2023. The full list of inductees includes Kate Bush, Rage Against the Machine, Chaka Khan, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, George Michael, and the Spinners, among others.

John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said that Missy Elliot’s induction is a sign of the power of hip-hop. “Missy Elliott got in first ballot, just like Eminem got in first ballot last year and JAY-Z the year before,” he said in a statement. “So if there’s a throughline we’re seeing, it shows the power of hip-hop music culture now, as if we didn’t know it already, as far as how quickly these artists are being recognized on the first ballot.” Other hip-hop artists to make it into The Hall over the years include Run-D.M.C., Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, N.W.A, 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., as well as LL Cool J, and more.

The 38th annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on November 3 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The hall’s contract with HBO has expired and they’ve yet to announce who their new media partner will be for the event.

Angela Bassett’s Oscars Snubs Have SZA Feeling Some Type Of Way

The many celebrities who took home an Academy Award on Sunday (March 12) night were surely happy with their win. Still, that obviously doesn’t mean the rest of the world was as enthused for them. Each and every ceremony brings with it a collection of snubs – prizes given to nominees who arguably deserve them less than their contemporaries, usually for reasons related to race and socioeconomic background. This year, it seems as though the internet is most enraged about Angela Bassett’s loss after her emotional performance in Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

The 64-year-old was up against Hong Chau (The Whale), Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), Jamie Lee Curtis, and Stephanie Hsu – the latter two starring in Everything Everywhere All at Once – in the Best Supporting Actress category. Ultimately, it was the Freaky Friday actress who took home the Oscar, and cameras caught an obviously upset expression on Bassett’s face when the news was announced.

Angela Bassett Loses “Best Supporting Actress” to Jamie Lee Curtis

In the hours since the Academy Awards aired, thousands have tweets have been shared, expressing frustration over Bassett’s loss. Fans of the American Horror Story starlet have been actively rooting for her to win, especially considering she’s been snubbed before in the past. Days before the ceremony took place, SZA ranted about the Hollywood icon’s lack of recognition on her Twitter page. “Realizing Angela Bassett doesn’t already have an Oscar [makes] me wanna knock shit over,” she said.

Many other users have made it clear they feel the same way as the Ctrl singer. “Literally it’s sick asf,” someone replied to SZA’s post. “Everyone who voted for Jamie Lee Curtis over Angela Bassett and Stephanie Hsu needs to sleep with one eye open,” another person joked. Keep scrolling to read more social media reactions to last night’s Oscars snub, and check out the full list of 2023 winners here.
