GloRilla & Saweetie Have A Sweet Interaction At The Billboard Women In Music Awards: Watch

I think most people can agree that competition, as well as friendships in hip-hop are both good for the genre. Not having enough of each could lower the attention it gets. Both add a sense of fascination, keeping fans hooked outside of the music itself. However, talking about beefs can be a little disheartening. There is already so much hate in this world, and seeing artists argue over insignificant things (most of the time) is frustrating. However, we are happy to say that GloRilla and Saweetie are two female rappers that are still friends. It seems there is a lot of animosity with a majority of the femcees, so seeing them still close is nice. GloRilla and Saweetie both popped out to the Billboard Women in Music Awards and rekindled their relationship.

The celebration of women’s contributions in music continued on Wednesday, March 6, marking its 17th anniversary. According to Billboard, it was available to watch on livestream one day later. Of course, like any award show, there is a red carpet portion of the evening and GloRilla and Saweetie took that time to catch up. In the video below, you can check out their adorable interaction at the Billboard event.

They hugged it out and chatted for a minute and fans were happy to see them be so cordial with one another. “She said Saweetie was the first celebrity to reach out and give her, her flowers when she was coming up 🫶🏿 look at you winning,” one person says. Another adds, “Saweetie is really a girl’s girl 😍I love her and love Glo!” While they still have not made music together, both are popping off right now with “Yeah Glo!” and “Richtivities.”

What are your thoughts on GloRilla and Saweetie’s link-up at the Billboard Women in Music Awards? Are the best female rap friends in the game right now, why or why not? Is friendship or more competition better for hip-hop and why? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Jamie Foxx Claims He Will Tell The Full Story Of His Health Scare Last Year

Jamie Foxx spent much of 2023 out of the public eye as he dealt with an unspecified health crisis. He was reportedly on set working on a project when something pretty serious happened. As a result, he was hospitalized and needed extended recovery time in the following months. He’s already popped up in a few places in 2024 looking like his normal self again. His most recent appearance came African American Film Critics Association Awards over the weekend where he accepted the “Producer’s Award.”

During his acceptance speech, he reminded the crowd just how sharp he can be with one hilarious quip after another. “I’m emotional. I get emotional to even music that I’m not supposed to be emotional to. I was listening to Sexyy Red like, ‘Skee Yee,’” Foxx joked at the start of his speech. He went on to reveal that he has a plan for revealing exactly what happened to him last year. “Now look, everybody wants to know what happened, and I’m going to tell you what happened, but I’m going to do it in my way. I’m going to do it in a funny way. It’s gonna be on the stage. We’re going to go back to the stand-up roots, but I’ll tell you in my way. It will be called ‘What Had Happened Was.’” Check out the video of Foxx’s acceptance speech below.

Jamie Foxx Vows To Tell His Story

Last year in December, Jamie Foxx shared just a piece of his harrowing health story. He revealed he had an impactful moment and claimed to see “the tunnel” at one point during his crisis. The attention-grabbing description helped communicate the severity of what he was dealing with. In addition to his health crisis, he was also hit with allegations of sexual assault from an anonymous accuser last year.

Grammys Criticism Arises As Harry Belafonte’s Family Speaks Out

In 2023 we said goodbye to several music icons, including 96-year-old Harry Belafonte. The late recording artist was best known for “Day-O (The Banana Boat Song),” though he also contributed significantly to activist movements around the globe. His work was sampled on several occasions in popular hip-hop releases, and he continues to be recognized as one of the few Black creatives to achieve EGOT status. When it came time for the annual Grammy Awards this month, many expected to see the show pay tribute to Belafonte for all his contributions. Unfortunately for them, Belafonte only briefly came up during the “In Memoriam” segment but failed to give any further acknowledgment as we saw other artists receive.

“Love @itstonybennett Love @tinaturner Love @sinadeocconor. Why the @recordingacademy [chose] not to do a special tribute to you I will #never understand!” the legend’s daughter, Gina Belafonte wrote on Facebook earlier this week. “Here is my Grammy tribute to you dad! So many winners you’ve mentored! So many winners you shared your stage with. You are the winner @theharrybelafonte and we are better because of your contribution!” she continued, giving her late father his well-deserved flowers.

Harry Belafonte’s Daughter Honours Him

“Belafonte’s career breakthrough album Calypso (1956) was the first million-selling LP by a single artist,” Gina reminded readers online. As AllHipHop notes, another of Harry’s daughters, Shari Belafonte, aired her grievances with the Grammys too. “While no doubt, Tony Bennett and Tina Turner were special indeed, Harry contributed far more to society and the music industry than those two put together, in my humble opinion. The Grammys missed a major moment.”

Harry Belafonte isn’t the only celebrity who seemingly got snubbed by the Grammy Awards. SZA’s fanbase was outraged after the TDE signee missed out on taking home Album of the Year, but for her part, she’s taking the loss with grace. “Only way from up is higher,” she declared following the ceremony. Drake Calls Out Grammy Awards: “This Show Doesn’t Dictate Sh*t”

Drake called out the Grammys on his Instagram Story, on Sunday night, as the latest ceremony took place at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. In doing so, he shared a clip of himself speaking on stage at the Grammy Awards in 2019. The message comes after he lost in all four categories in which he was competing including Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Melodic Rap Performance.

“All you incredible artists remember this show isn’t the facts it’s just the opinion of a group of people who’s name are kept a secret (literally you can google it),” he captioned his post. “Congrats to anybody winning anything for hip hop but this show doesn’t dictate sh*t in our world.”

The 2024 Grammy Awards mark the first time Drake has even submitted his music for consideration in a number of years. He previously took issue with the Recording Academy classifying “Hotline Bling” as a rap song, and the organization snubbing The Weeknd’s After Hours, among a number of other grievances. 50 Cent & Evanescence’s 2004 Grammys Spat Has Singer Amy Lee Sure Fif Still “Hates [Her] Guts”

As he moves towards his fifties, Curtis Jackson is likely reflecting on the growth in himself since first coming up in the industry. The early years of his career saw 50 Cent acting far more recklessly than he ever does now. For the most part, the Power producer keeps us laughing with his reaction posts on social media these days, but in the mid-2000s, he wasn’t afraid to storm award show stages long before Kanye West ever did.

If you tuned into the 2004 Grammys nearly two decades ago, you may recall the tension in the air when Fif lost the award for Best New Artist to Evanescence. In an interview with the Daily Beast, lead singer Amy Lee spoke about the moment when Jackson joined her and guitarist Ben Moody on stage as she gave her acceptance speech. “50 Cent hates my guts,” she told the outlet, adding herself to the “I Get Money” hitmaker’s long list of enemies.

50 Cent Wasn’t Happy About Losing Artist of the Year

Despite how awkward it all looked on TV at the time, Lee insists the moment “wasn’t that bad” in real life. “He just sort of like, made an appearance. It was like Zoolander when he thought he won,” she joked. While his disdain is obvious, the “Bring Me To Life” singer says she’s never had a chance to discuss Fif being snubbed with him. However, he publicly discussed the moment as recently as 2020, while accepting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “You got the largest debut hip hop album [but] you don’t got no Best New Artist trophy,” the lyricist ranted during his ceremony.

“The Best New Artist, they gave that shit to Evanescence… Can you find fucking Evanescence? I ain’t seen Evanescence since that night. Since that night they gave them the trophy,” he added. Even with the hate, the band has no intentions of getting into a Twitter war with Jackson anytime soon. Amy Lee isn’t the only one who’s still feeling the sting of 50 Cent’s wrath. The New Yorker’s followers will know that he’s had his foot heavily on Sean Combs’ neck following harrowing allegations from Cassie and others in the industry, and he’s not showing signs of letting up anytime soon. Keke Palmer Delivers A Powerful Performance At The BET Soul Train Music Awards: Watch

Keke Palmer’s life has been tumultuous, to say the least. Ever since the pop culture world got the news about her and Darius Jackson’s downfall as a couple. Things began to hot and steamy this past summer after the actress and singer attended an Usher show. She was wearing revealing clothing and getting a little too comfortable for Darius’ liking. He spoke his mind on social media, fans were divided on his opinion, as well as Keke’s actions.

However, the shocking revelation came when she dropped some serious allegations against her now ex-boyfriend and father to their child. Abuse and harassment claims were made and, she asked for sole custody of their kid. Disturbing video footage of Keke and Darius then emerged as he attacked her in her own home. At one point, he even trespassed unexpectedly into her house. All of this mental and emotional weight seemed to be gone after her latest performance this past weekend.

The Illinois native was the host of the 36th annual BET Soul Train Awards on Sunday, November 26. In addition, she was also a performer at the show as well. She delivered a truly powerful but somber display on the stage. Keke played a song from her latest record, Big Boss, called “Ungorgeous.” The lyrics are very sad and depict a relationship that is losing its magic. Maybe, it is a reference to her and Darius’ past romance. People were loving the show in the comments section and at the event.

What are your initial thoughts on Keke Palmer’s performance at the BET Soul Train Awards? Do you think this is one of, if not the best live displays this year? Is she a better singer, or a more adept actress? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Soul Train Awards: Keke Palmer Hosting Tonight, Reminds Us She’s The Prize In Golden Goddess Dress

If you’re someone who has a hard time getting out of bed and facing the world when your life feels like it’s in shambles, look no further than Keke Palmer for inspiration on turning that around. November has been a particularly chaotic month for the Chicago native. She filed (and was granted) a restraining order against baby daddy Darius Jackson after providing evidence of him putting his hands on her in their home on more than one occasion. At this time, the 30-year-old has sole custody of baby Leodis but continues to put her best foot forward and fulfill her work obligations while awaiting court in December.

Today (November 26), Palmer is hosting the 2023 Soul Train Awards, with 21 Sav and her good friend (well, maybe not so good after Mama Sharon’s comments about him in a secretly recorded phone call) Usher leading the way in nominations. The past few days were all about promoting the BET ceremony on social media. In particular, a video posted on Saturday in which she looks trophy-like in a golden Balmain mini dress has our attention.

“Something about those Virgos… ✨,” the True Jackson VP actress wrote in her caption. Her shiny black hair has voluminous curls to add extra drama to her look, which also boasts tasteful golden accessories. In the comments, fans have been praising Keke non-stop for staying focused on herself and refusing to let her ex’s apparent jealousy and insecurity issues hold her back from greatness.

While Keke Palmer keeps busy fulfilling her work obligations and spending time with baby Leodis, Darius Jackson seems to be feeling reflective while celebrating the holidays without his son. On Thanksgiving, the infant’s father posted a collection of sweet family photos of Leo with his grandparents and uncle, though he likely won’t see his baby in person until heading to court with Palmer on December 5th. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Keke Palmer Announced As Host Of This Years Soul Train Awards

Keke Palmer is right in the middle of a firestorm of news that has been following her for months. Much of it has been drama revolving around her relationship which started earlier this year. She had a rather innocuous interaction between Palmer and Usher during one of the R&B singer’s Las Vegas shows. But it turned into a full blown controversy when her boyfriend Darius Jackson commented on the matter online.

But later this month, Palmer is taking a break from the genre to serve as the host of this year’s Soul Train awards. “Keke Palmer is a globally recognized multihyphenate talent who embodies confidence and positivity, and is one of the most engaging and lovable personalities working in entertainment today,” their announcement statement began. “We can’t wait to have her host the Soul Train Awards house party. BET gave Keke her first talk show, where she made history as the youngest talk show host in television, and today we are honored to have her back on the Soul Train Awards stage,” they continued. Palmer is also set to perform at the show alongside artists like Coco Jones, Fridayy, BJ The Chicago Kid, Muni Long, and more. Check out the full announcement below.

Keke Palmer Takes On Hosting Duties

The drama between Keke Palmer and Darius Jackson was re-ignited a few days ago. Last week, she filed official motions in court to officially get a restraining order against Jackson and secure custody of their children. She was very quickly granted temporary victories in both. But Palmer will still have to return to court in December to fight the full legal battle. Unsurprisingly, the drama sparked plenty of comments and observations from many in the celebrity world. Two of the most notable people to weigh in were Jackson’s brother and Palmer’s mother.

Fans can tune into this year’s award show on November 26 when it airs on BET. What do you think of Keke Palmer being tapped to host the award show? Let us know in the comment section below.

SZA Shows Gratitude Toward Her Black Female Fan Base: Watch

Seeing an artist you have been following for years reaching superstardom is one of the best feelings for a music fan. It is even better when the journey is arduous. Enjoying the little wins along the way makes the final goal feel sweeter in the end. Be sure to let us know an artist you saw have the potential to go from unknown to star, in the comments section all the way at the bottom of the page. All of them have to start from somewhere, including SZA.

The R&B phenom recognized this at a recent event she was a part of a couple of days ago. Femme It Forward, according to their website, is a “Female-led music and entertainment company that centers its mission in celebrating, educating, and empowering women through multi-format, multi-market consumer experiences. The special occasion SZA was at is called, GiveHerFlowHERS Awards Gala. It “Celebrates and recognizes outstanding women who have made A significant impact in entertainment and mentorship.” She has certainly been a part of that moment and during it, she got on the podium and shouted her day ones.

The Grammy-nominated artist took a few moments to show her appreciation to her black female fanbase for believing in her. “I just wanted to thank black women, specifically. But, before anyone who had bought my albums or thought I was cute and I had anything on Billboard, black women came to my shows.” She continues, “They stood up for me from the jump, they connected with me and I’m so, so grateful to be black and amongst family.” Interestingly, some fans loved her speech while others thought it was a bit strange. One person goes, “If a white woman said this all hell would break loose 💀” Regardless of all the debate, it is great to see SZA continue to flourish and our continued support goes out to her!

What are your initial thoughts on SZA’s speech at the Femme It Forward Award Show? Do you think anything was wrong with what she said? Is she the best female artist in the world right now? 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards’ Best Breakthrough Artist Prize Goes To Ice Spice

Ice Spice has had her perfectly manicured foot on our necks since she first blew up with “Munch (Feelin’ U)” over a year ago. At this point in her career, the 23-year-old has collaborated with the likes of Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift, broken countless streaming records, and graced the cover of various publications. She hardly feels like a “breakthrough” artist seeing as she’s skyrocketed to heights far above her contemporaries. However, at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards last night, that’s the prize the New York native left with.

Others nominated in the category this year include Armani White, Central Cee, and Finesse2tymes. Several women were also on the list, including Kaliii, Lola Brooke, and Sexyy Red. The final competitor for Spice is actually her good friend and upcoming tour mate, Doechii. Obviously only one of them could win, but it’s safe to say that Doja Cat will be in great company as she travels around North America to perform her new Scarlet album.

Ice Spice Gets Her Flowers from BET

As Billboard reports, the artist taking home the most awards was Kendrick Lamar. The West Coast superstar earned trophies for hip-hop artist of the year, best live performer, lyricist of the year, and video director of the year in tandem with Dave Free. Much to our surprise, a handful of heavy hitters were on the BET snub list, including Cardi B, Burna Boy, and DJ Khaled. The Hustlers actress tied with 21 Sav for most nods, but ultimately came up empty-handed. As for the latter two, each had seven nominations that resulted in zero wins.

Last night’s BET Hip Hop Awards were full of some big moments for the music industry, though not all of them were positive. The evening’s host, Fat Joe, certainly kept us entertained with his various outfit changes, though he’s still facing backlash for mispronouncing Sexyy Red’s signature catchphrase.
