Keke Palmer Jokes About Recent Public Drama With Soul Train Awards Skit

Over the weekend, Keke Palmer hosted the Soul Train Awards. As with many award shows the biggest story of the night was the prizes given out. SZA, who has had a spectacular 2023, unsurprisingly led the way taking home 4 awards. Usher and Victoria Money were right behind her pulling in 3 and 2 wins respectively. There were also highlight performances from artists like Coco Jones, Janelle Monae, and T-Pain.

But for those who have been following the drama in Palmer’s life recently, it was a skit she participated in that got the most attention. In the skit, she speaks to her mother on the phone about watching her young son while she hosts the show. While fans had mixed reactions in terms of how funny it was, many were just surprised she was willing to joke about the family drama at all. “One thing about Keke….she gon turn any tragedy into a joke and get a bag,” one of the top comments on a repost of the clip reads. Check out the full skit below.

Keke Palmer And Her Mom Team Up For Soul Train Skit

The drama between Keke Palmer and her former boyfriend Darius Jackson began somewhat innocuously earlier this year. Jackson found himself in trouble with fans online after he commented on the outfit that Palmer wore to an Usher concert. But earlier this month, the situation got much more serious. Only a few weeks ago it emerged that Palmer was filing a restraining order against Jackson and seeking sole custody of their child.

Both were granted to Palmer temporarily shortly after filing. That’s likely because of some of the allegations and evidence that emerged afterward. Palmer accused Jackson of repeated acts of physical abuse. She claimed to have text messages and security camera footage backing up her accusations. What do you think of Keke Palmer addressing her public family drama with a new skit? Did you think the skit was funny? Let us know in the comment section below.

T-Pain Accepts Legend Award At 2023 Soul Train Awards & Performs Medley Of Biggest Hits

T-Pain took home the Legend Award at 2023 Soul Train Awards on Sunday night in Beverly Hills, California. David Banner, the singer’s longtime friend and personal “life coach,” presented him with the award, recognizing his decades of dominance in the industry.

On stage, Pain joked that he feels it’s still “a little early” to receive the Legend Award. “It’s a lil weird,” he said. “I feel like I got two, three more songs we can probably do.” Later in the speech, he spoke about his wife, Amber Najm. “The kind of person I was, the kind of person I’ve become, and to just be there as the same wife and the same woman through the entire thing and be one of the strongest people I know. Dealing with the internet, dealing with my negatives and my flaws and staying with me. Just dealing with T-Pain and Faheem is a feat I have yet to figure out my damn self, so thank you, baby.”

He concluded with a message for the younger generation: “I don’t want you to chase this. I don’t want you to base your life on how many people in the crowd can tell you that you can have this. I want you to know that you already got this. You already have this in your mind. I want y’all to be who y’all are unapologetically, I want y’all to be who you’ve always wanted to be. I want y’all to not care about what anybody thinks about that person. If you like it, I love it and I want some mo’ of it.”

T-Pain Performs His Biggest Songs

To close out the evening, T-Pain performed a medley of the biggest hits from his career including “Got Money,” “Cyclone,” “Good Life,” “Bartender,” “U and Dat,” “Up Down,” “Chopped & Screwed,” “I’m N Luv (Wit a Stripper),” “Kiss Kiss,” “Shawty,” “I Like Dat,” and “Buy U a Drank,” among others. Soul Train Awards: Keke Palmer Hosting Tonight, Reminds Us She’s The Prize In Golden Goddess Dress

If you’re someone who has a hard time getting out of bed and facing the world when your life feels like it’s in shambles, look no further than Keke Palmer for inspiration on turning that around. November has been a particularly chaotic month for the Chicago native. She filed (and was granted) a restraining order against baby daddy Darius Jackson after providing evidence of him putting his hands on her in their home on more than one occasion. At this time, the 30-year-old has sole custody of baby Leodis but continues to put her best foot forward and fulfill her work obligations while awaiting court in December.

Today (November 26), Palmer is hosting the 2023 Soul Train Awards, with 21 Sav and her good friend (well, maybe not so good after Mama Sharon’s comments about him in a secretly recorded phone call) Usher leading the way in nominations. The past few days were all about promoting the BET ceremony on social media. In particular, a video posted on Saturday in which she looks trophy-like in a golden Balmain mini dress has our attention.

“Something about those Virgos… ✨,” the True Jackson VP actress wrote in her caption. Her shiny black hair has voluminous curls to add extra drama to her look, which also boasts tasteful golden accessories. In the comments, fans have been praising Keke non-stop for staying focused on herself and refusing to let her ex’s apparent jealousy and insecurity issues hold her back from greatness.

While Keke Palmer keeps busy fulfilling her work obligations and spending time with baby Leodis, Darius Jackson seems to be feeling reflective while celebrating the holidays without his son. On Thanksgiving, the infant’s father posted a collection of sweet family photos of Leo with his grandparents and uncle, though he likely won’t see his baby in person until heading to court with Palmer on December 5th. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.
