Snoop Dogg Brings Former Death Row Records Artist Back To The Label

Snoop Dogg has re-signed former Death Row Records artist, Danny Boy, back to the label he once called home. Acting as the imprint’s owner, Snoop announced the move on Instagram, on Sunday. “He’s bac home,” Snoop wrote alongside a series of emojis. In the comments section, several artists shared their excitement at the news including Omarion and Faith Evans.

On his own Instagram page, Danny added: “After 20 something years I finally got@the opportunity to do a song with the #dog #bigbro that open the door for us all @deathrowrecords @snoopdogg wow can’t believe this past week… I went on a #faithwalk #staytuned.” In another post, he added: “Thanks to my Neice @sasha_lanyae and her coworker @americanairline for having me sing on the mic and welcoming me back to #deathrow wow this chapter is going to be amazing.”

Suge Knight originally signed Danny to Death Row back when the rapper was just 16 years old. During his time with the company, he appeared on 2Pac‘s All Eyez on Me and The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory as well as the soundtrack to Murder Was the Case. The label, unfortunately, shelved his own debut album, It’s About Time, but the project did eventually see the light of day in 2010. Snoop previously mentioned being interested in bringing Danny back to Death Row, last year. He acquired the label back in 2022.

Childish Gambino Continues His Comeback With World Tour Announcement

Fans of Childish Gambino have gotten some major good news recently. Most of it has come through his GIGLA radio series of which there’s been two episodes so far. In the newest episode he debuts a new song with Kanye West, or at least one made to sound like it’s with Kanye. Gambino has been using AI for various parts of the radio broadcasts and it has fans second guessing everything. Those listening couldn’t help but wonder if the verse West contributed was actually him or generated by a computer.

Now Childish Gambino seems to have begun teasing an upcoming world tour. Fittingly it’s called “The New World Tour” and the post includes a website of the same name where fans can sign-up for information on the tour. Gambino is fresh off an appearance during Tyler, The Creator’s Coachella headlining set that reminded everyone just how exciting of a live performer he is. There’s no information on what cities the tour may stop in or when it will get underway yet. But that hasn’t stopped fans from getting excited to potentially see him live. During the first episode of his new radio show, Childish Gambino revealed he has two forthcoming albums. The first is called Atavista and will serve as an updated version of his 2020 release 3.15.20. He’s also reportedly dropping an album called Bando Stone & the New World after that. The project will also serve as the soundtrack for a show of the same name that he’s also involved with.

As exciting as it was for fans to hear the announcement, there was also bad news. He confirmed that the new albums would be his last two releases under the Childish Gambino moniker. Ice Spice Announces New Single, “Gimmie A Light”

Ice Spice announced that her next single, “Gimme a Light,” will be dropping on May 10th in a post on Instagram, on Saturday night. She didn’t provide any further details but provided a pre-save link in her bio. She shared the news while captioning what appears to be the cover artwork. Spice previously performed the unreleased song during her set at Coachella, earlier this month.

The post left fans excited in the comments section. “May already starting off fye,” one user remarked. Another fan wrote: “This about to shift it all!!!” Many more left behind fire emojis. The single announcement comes as fans continue to wait for Spice’s debut studio album, Y2K, which she intends to drop this year.

In other Ice Spice news, she recently teased going on tour to promote Y2K during an interview with T Magazine on Thursday. When asked what she’s looking forward to down the road, she revealed: “Going on tour. I can’t wait to see my fans up close and personal and really interact with them — interacting with fans online can be a little overwhelming. All their profile pictures are of me. Ashanti Officially Announces Pregnancy & Engagement To Nelly

For months now, Ashanti and Nelly have been facing relentless rumors that the two of them are expecting their first child together. Speculation first began when the reunited lovebirds made a gesture towards the songstress’ stomach onstage. Of course, this led their supporters to believe that they had a little one on the way, which Ashanti only compounded with her series of loosely fitting looks.

Fortunately, there’s no longer any room for speculation, as Ashanti has officially announced the pregnancy herself. She did so through an Instagram ad for a company specializing in at-home tools for family planning. In the fun video, Ashanti is seen in her dressing room amid the hustle and bustle of backstage, taking a pregnancy test in her dressing room. Someone asks her how long she’ll need before she’s stage-ready, to which she replies, “I’mma need about nine months.”

Childish Gambino To Premiere New Music Sunday Night: Details

Childish Gambino, also known as Donald Glover, has confirmed that he’ll be debuting new music on Sunday at 11:00 PM, PST on GILGA Radio. Taking to Twitter earlier in the day, he revealed the livestream details and noted that he is in the process of an album rollout. In an announcement post, he wrote: “GILGA Radio tonight @ 11pm pst. Live streamed on Instagram @donaldglover.” When one fan asked whether he’d be playing new music, Gambino added: “Of course. It’s a rollout dummy.”

Fans were stoked about the announcement in Gambino’s replies. One user wrote: “WE WILL BE THERE NO MATTER WHAT!!!” Another responded: “I f*cking missed you please please please rap again.” Other users joked that he’ll be joining in on the massive feud between Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Rick Ross, and several more artists.

The upcoming project will be Gambino’s first since 3.15.20 dropped in March over four years ago. He previously confirmed he was working on new music behind the scenes during an interview with Laverne Cox at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards. “I’m making music right now,” he said at the time. “I love it. On top of the 32-date run, Meg also has a new album in the works, which she shared some exciting details about during a panel at AdWeek for Social Media Week 2024.

New music isn’t the only thing Meg and the Hotties have to look forward to these days, however. Elsewhere during her appearance, the hitmaker announced that she plans to broaden her horizons by launching her own tequila brand. “I create the things that I want to see, I don’t create things for other people to like them,” she explained. “I create the music I want to hear, I go and do my own thing and stay true to me.”

Big Sean Reveals He’s Dropping A Self-Help Book Called “Go Higher” Later This Year

Hip-hop fans are used to their favorite rappers delivering their wisdom. While that usually comes though the music they release, others have stepped into various other mediums. Rap culture has been leaking into movies and television for decades now and some artists have even tried their hand at crafting books. The newest of which is Big Sean, who just announced he has a new book coming out soon. But it isn’t a work of fiction or even an auto-biography, but a self-help book.

The book is called Go Higher: Five Practices For Purpose, Success, And Inner Peace and fans will be able to get their hands on it in early October. The announcement came from a video Sean shared to his Instagram where he explained how he arrived at writing a self-help book. “Anyone who’s known me since I signed my record deal knows if you look at my old YouTubes I’ve always been about speaking from the heart, following your intuition, and checking in with yourself mentally. Because that’s how I was raised. That’s the upbringing that was surrounding me with my family. It was a lot of elevated thinkers. They’d give me gems and these books that I eventually read. If it wasn’t for them methods that I applied to my life, I for sure wouldn’t be here today, period,” he explains. Check out the full announcement video he posted below.

Fans are hoping that the book isn’t the only thing Sean drops this year. Back in February he revealed that he’s working on a new album. When he does drop a new album it’ll be his first since 2020’s Detroit 2. Last month he dropped his new single “Precision” which has already racked up more than 2.6 million streams on Spotify.

Big Sean also recently performed on one of the most recognizable stages in all of music. He teamed up with NPR for a special performance at their Tiny Desk that dropped last week. Eminem pulled one over on his fans on social media, Monday, with an April Fools’ Day troll about releasing a new album. To do so, he shared a trailer for the project with the caption, “Out Now,” leading fans to believe he dropped a new effort as a surprise.

Fans expressed their pain in the replies to his post. “This the CRUELEST April Fools joke we’ve ever seen,” one user wrote. Another added: “You trolling too hard Marshall… this was just rude.” One more fan wrote: “I literally fell for it when the notification popped on my screen.”

Despite it being an April Fools’ joke, Dr. Dre recently confirmed that Eminem is working on a new project. He made the announcement while appearing on Live! With Jimmy Kimmel, last month. “Let me tell you something, let me explain something to you right now: Eminem is working on his own album which is coming out this year,” he said at the time. “And I actually talked to him and he told me it was okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show. So he has an album coming out, I’ve got songs on it and it’s fire. I’m actually gonna hear the entire album for the first time for tomorrow. And he holds his music close to his chest so I haven’t heard everything. I haven’t even heard everything complete that I’ve done, but I’m gonna hear it, and he’s putting out an album this year.”

Keyshia Cole Announces New Album While Paying Tribute To Her Late Mother During Los Angeles Show

Keyshia Cole announced her eighth studio album while paying tribute to her late mother, Frankie Lons, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles as a part of The Love Hard Tour on Saturday night. It will be her first album in nearly seven years and the first since her mother’s passing. She broke into tears while bringing up Lons on stage.

“I’m wanna say I appreciate you. If you ever bought an album,” she said. “Album eight right now on the way. I wanna give a shout out to my mom Frankie. If you watched the reality show, if you watched her: I just wanna say thank you. You helped change my life. Thank you.” She then broke into a performance of “I’ve Changed.”

In response to those calling the move disrespectful, she replied: “Degrading my mother. ? I wanted the best for my mom. You prefer my story not be my story? At times I have too. But my truth is my truth. I just live mine loud. (while some suffer in silence. But This will come wit all that I do, So speak YOUR TRUTH, but yours ain’t mine. [heart emoji]. And I’m addition to that I have recorded a record that will be in the movie dedicated to my mother. (You all may or may not like it) but….. This movie was healing in some ways for me, so very appreciative of having this happen.” The film, This Is My Story, ended up debuting last year.
