Just hours ago, word came out that Tha Dogg Pound, could be up to something exciting. Numerous reports, including from us, discovered that Snoop Dogg was resharing some clips from other rap icons and current stars all asking similar questions. “Dog, I gotta question: what happened to Tha Dogg Pound? I heard they broke up, is that true? That’s what I heard.” Those were the words of Swizz Beatz, but others such as Tyrese Gibson, Flavor Flav, and NLE Choppa were sending in the same inquiries. Well, we have now come to learn that those FaceTime calls were being compiled for a single from Tha Dogg Pound called “Smoke Up.”

It all makes sense when you watch the music video below. They were all chopped together before Snoop finally comes in and shuts down the breakup rumors. “Damn, everybody sayin’ the same s*** huh. Well, check this out. F*** what you heard.” It then cuts to a G-funk banger with the trio sporting matching tracksuits.

JT Announces New Single “Okay,” Defends Solo Tour

It’s already been a major year for JT, and it looks like the hitmaker has no plans to slow down. Earlier today, she took to social media to announce yet another solo single coming soon. The track, “Okay,” will follow her previous singles “No Bars” and “Sideways.”

JT shared the exciting news alongside a preview of the song, which already has listeners in a chokehold. The accompanying video is also receiving praise online for delivering all of the throwback vibes JT’s Juvies have come to expect from the City Girl. While an official release date for “Okay” has not yet been revealed, it’s available for pre-save on all major streaming services now and is expected to appear on her upcoming mixtape, City Cinderella.

“Okay” Arrives Soon

The fun video appears to be a compilation of clips from her current tour, which has seen her make stops in various cities across the U.S. Her first solo headlining tour is scheduled to run into the end of this month with final stops in New York, Baltimore, and Kansas City. While JT certainly hasn’t failed to bring people out to see her live, the rapper has still faced some criticism for her choice of venues.

GloRilla, for example, recently called them “backyard BBQs” during their heated Twitter/X spat. During a show in Florida, however, she made it clear that she has no regrets. “Let me say one motherf*cking thing. B*tches be having a lot to say,” JT said onstage. “But I ain’t have one wack cookout yet. We been lit city to city, state to motherf*cking state.”

Chloe also took the opportunity to perform her newest track live for the first time ever, “Boy Bye.”

She first unveiled the song late last week, making a splash with a fun accompanying music video. Hitkidd & Lil Gotit Would Rather Be “Secluded” On New Single: Stream

Hitkidd recently boosted up his production repertoire again on his prolific streak, teaming up with Lil Gotit for this new single, “Secluded.” Moreover, it’s a woozy cut with bright keys, stark but hard-hitting trap percussion, and a lot of dreamy atmosphere to really put you in a trance. Lyrically, the Atlanta spitter is boasting about the usual flexes with some simple but sharp bars, particularly placing an emphasis on how they’re moving silently and “posted somewhere you can’t be at.” While the “How I’m Pose To Live” MC keeps more or less the same few flows throughout, his energetic vocal delivery does more than enough to keep his lyrics fresh and engaging.

Furthermore, this marks a bit of a departure from what the Memphis producer has been doing recently. He’s done a lot to put on for his city’s classic sounds, recently teaming up with a host of fiery femcees for the Renegade project. However, across Hitkidd’s other production credits, including Bladee and Lil Uzi Vert, there’s clearly a lot of versatility and fundamental skills within his skillset. It also helps that Lil Gotit knows how to approach a track like “Secluded” with a healthy balance of force and calm patience in his performance, highlighting the instrumental’s intoxicating qualities. It’s exactly what he crafted on previous singles like “Dr. Marten,” so while this isn’t an exciting reinvention, it at least keeps the quality standard up to snuff.

Kehlani Wants Love “After Hours” On New Single: Stream

Kehlani is lustfully looking for some love in the club even after the lights come on and the people leave on their new single “After Hours.” Right when the song kicks off, we know where this inspiration comes from: the song samples Nina Sky’s club-dominating 2004 smash hit “Move Ya Body.” However, this time around, they build it up with some tropical instrumentation, gorgeous harmonies, background vocals, and a much more tender approach than the original. Overall, it makes for a surprising but welcome reinterpretation that the Oakland native makes entirely their own. Still, if you haven’t heard “Move Ya Body” in a long time, this track will definitely remind you of just how undeniable, groovy, and infectious that opening percussion pattern is.

As such, “After Hours” ends up blending a couple of different elements together to make for a pretty ambiguous genre classification, which we mean in the best way possible. The sampled drums give it that hard hip-hop-adjacent grime that refuses to lock itself out of your body’s internal rhythm for hours after you listen. In addition, Kehlani’s vocal melodies and tone show their dexterity in the realm of R&B, whereas the instrumentation and flow mixed with the drums might remind listeners of dancehall styles. While this isn’t anything special lyrically, it definitely checks the catchy box and emotively showcases much more than lust through the production and songwriting. Maybe try playing this song when your night out is winding out, and you’ll see the results for yourself.

Kwazii’s built his career so far on pretty familiar sounds, but what makes him a truly compelling artist today is his seamless blends of them. Moreover, on his new single “Leaving,” he effortlessly incorporates a few different styles in a narrative of fame, lust and his come-up. When the track’s drum pattern kicks off, and the Canadian artist’s vocals kick in, some listeners out there might expect a dancehall-adjacent melodic performance. But as soon as the harsh snares kick in, and his flows speed up into more elaborate bars, it becomes clear that this is a combination of classic hip-hop lyricism, contemporary beat-making, and external genre influences that create a moody sonic pallet.

Furthermore, it’s this fusion that will likely make “Leaving” one of the most surprising playlist adds for your week. Kwazii does a great job of flipping certain expectations here, as the vocal chops here are in pretty heavy contrast with the more industrially-toned drums that enter with the verse. There are also a couple of measured but almost unnoticeable flow switch-ups here that keep his vocal performance quite dynamic. As for the lyrical matter, this is no unexplored territory, but there’s a certain honesty to the bars here that can be hard to come across. Acknowledging mistakes and disinterest in commitment can often be framed against the other side of a fling, but here, accountability and hard work seem to be what drives the narrative forward.

This the first time these two Midwestern MCs have met up for song, but it is straight heat. What is impressive about “Word II Conway” is that Courtney Bell is essentially the main attraction here. No shade is being thrown at Conway, but he is merely an afterthought on this track. He handles the chorus, as well as the outro in which he shouts out Bell.

NxWorries Returns To Tease New Album With “86Sentra”

NxWorries, the soulful, California hip-hop duo of rapper and singer Anderson .Paak and producer Knxwledge, is back! Yes, after nearly a full year of no new material, they have finally got something new for the always eager fanbase. Ever since their excellent first effort in 2016 with Yes Lawd!, the hype surrounding them grew to epic proportions. However, outside of a remix version to their debut, the multi-talents have not been pressuring themselves to release new music. But we can at least say that NxWorries has a new single out now called “86Sentra.”

It is the shortest of the track that they have pushed out in the last year and a half. NxWorries’ first return after Yes Lawd! was their collaboration with R&B balladeer H.E.R., “Where I Go,” which dropped in 2022. Then, we would have to wait until May of 2023 to receive the gorgeous guitar-backed “Daydreaming.” Both cuts bring us to this short offering “86Sentra.”

It brings chill vibes coming from both Anderson and Knxwledge on the rapping and production front. .Paak is bringing some great rhymes and slick flows that skate over the drum-heavy beat.
