Travis Scott Gets Candid Discussing His Grammys Snubs

Travis Scott is one of the biggest stars in not just rap music, but music period. He’s fresh off the release of his album UTOPIA last year, his first since 2018’s Astroworld. Astroworld received one nomination with its hit single “Sicko Mode” locking up two more. UTOPIA also scored a nomination for Best Rap Album. Ultimately, Scott lost the category to Killer Mike’s Michael as part of a sweep of the rap category that resulted in three wins for the Run The Jewels rapper.

Adding in his work with other artists like Kanye West and SZA, Travis Scott has 10 total Grammy nominations and 0 wins. While you would think that would affect his opinion of the institution, he still sees the award as an admirable goal. During a recent interview he discussed the respect he still has for the Grammys. “A lot of my peers, everyone is like, ‘f*ck that award.’ I actually f*ck with it,” his statement begins. He discusses a time when the Grammys used to be more respected and sought after, then confesses that he still views the awards with that idyllic image. He even goes as far as comparing making music to win Grammys to basketball and football teams trying to win championships. Check out the clips where he discusses the award show below.

Travis Scott And Playboi Carti’s ‘Fe!n’ Video Is Every Rager’s Deepest, Dark, And Dizzying Fantasy

Yesterday (March 30), Travis Scott made his long-awaited return to Saturday Night Live.

Although the “KPop” rapper didn’t appear in any of the evening’s sketches, he did treat the audience to two performances of tracks from his latest album, Utopia (“My Eyes” and “Fe!n” featuring Playboi Carti). With all attention on him, he figured it would be the perfect time to share the official visual of the project’s most popular track.

So, over on Scott’s YouTube channel, he shared his Gabriel Moses-directed video for “Fe!n.” The cinematic visual features Scott and Carti in the shadows of a black room as he spirals around the varying parts of himself, making for an exciting watch. Scott’s dramatic rotation and lively response make the video a visual representation of every rager’s deepest dark and dizzying fantasy brought to film.

Scott’s live performance style for the track has received mixed reviews. Rapper-turned-podcaster Joe Budden outright bashed his 2024 Grammys rendition. “Get the f*ck off the stage,” he shouted during an episode of his namesake podcast.

However, supporters have made “Fe!n” Scott’s mandatory repeat track during his live shows. On the Utopia Tour, the Oklahoma crowd made him perform the song ten times.

Travis Scott On “SNL”: La Flame Taps Playboi Carti, Performs “MY EYES,” And Acts In Music Video Skit

There was doubt as to whether Travis Scott could make a comeback from his disastrous Astroworld Festival in 2021 or not, but landing a gig as the musical performer on Saturday Night Live is a strong indication that he’s recovering well. Yesterday (March 30), the father of two boldly made his presence felt in New York City, where he brought two popular songs from his latest LP, UTOPIA, to the stage. For his solo appearance, Scott gave us a mellow rendition of “MY EYES,” complete with trippy visuals.

Later, to celebrate the debut of his new music video, La Flame brought out Playboi Carti to perform “FE!N,” which has become a crowd favourite at his live shows. The crowd was pleased to see the “Magnolia” artist in his element alongside Scott, not to mention watching the Houston native let his creativity flow freely after restraining it and laying low for so long. Interestingly, the “SICKO MODE” hitmaker is now requesting that he be removed from any outstanding Astroworld Festival lawsuits, as he wasn’t overseeing the security of the event.

Besides performing, it’s also tradition for SNL musical guests to get in on the acting fun too. Scott happily partook, appearing in a music video skit with host Ramy Youssef that sees them channelling their inner Lonely Island, as Entertainment Weekly points out. Their spoof track, “Please Don’t Destroy – We Got Too High” sees the actors pouring their anxious feelings into the song, even using some of Trav’s signature voice-altering techniques.

Travis Scott Took Us To Outer Space With A Performance Of ‘My Eyes’ On ‘Saturday Night Live’

Still riding the highs of his fourth studio album, Utopia, Travis Scott paid a visit to Saturday Night Live. While on stage, Scott delivered a chilling performance of “My Eyes.”

During “My Eyes,” Scott set the scene, laying supine on a stage platform, as a space-set background created the feeling of rising into space. As the beat switched, Scott rose up, bouncing to the beat, getting the audience ready for an even bigger performance to come later.

Following a rockstar-level performance of “Fein,” this particular performance of “My Eyes” looked more minimalistic, however, maintained its theatrical feel. And given Scott’s affinity for cinematics, the performance felt like the smaller part of the grand saga that is Utopia.

In an interview with GQ, Scott revealed he originally conceptualized Utopia as a musical. He even consulted playwright Jeremy O. Harris for ideas on how to take it to the stage.

“I was trying to take Broadway—because the thing about Broadway theaters,” said Scott. “They’re kind of small—I was trying to bring the idea of Broadway to bigger venues. Like, either, like, plays in stadiums or plays in arenas, but still make it feel like a Broadway bill.”

Travis Scott & Playboi Carti Drop Dizzying Music Video For “FE!N”

It is crazy to think that Travis Scott put out UTOPIA just over eight months ago. It feels like the album only dropped about one month ago with how much we are still bumping the record. While it did not nab La Flame that elusive GRAMMY award he so desperately seeks, it was still easily a top-five LP from 2023. Tracks like “I KNOW ?” “MY EYES,” “TELEKINESIS,” “MODERN JAM,” and so many others were some of the strongest records of the year. “I KNOW ?”, arguably the biggest song from the tape, got its well-deserved visuals. However, fans have been waiting on the “FE!N” music video, too.

But, we can officially say now that we do not have to continue to hope for that any longer. Travis and the song’s feature, Playboi Carti, put together some freaky visuals for the rage collaboration. Some fans have been mixed on the visuals for the album so far, but maybe some will enjoy the cool shots for “FE!N.” If you like spinning videography, then this is the video for you.

Watch Music Video For “FE!N” By Travis Scott & Playboi Carti

Both rappers are constantly shown rotating at blistering speeds, along with some random people, beds, cars, and more. We feel that the artistic reaction matches what “FE!N” was set out to do. It is supposed to give you the feeling that you can run through a wall unscathed. The shots are just as crazy as the beat, evoking a sense of just raging out of control.

What are your thoughts on the brand-new music video for “FE!N” by Travis Scott and Playboi Carti? Does this video fit the song well, why or why not? Is this song still in your rotation? Over the last few episodes of Saturday Night Live (SNL), girl power has been running strong (Happy Women’s History Month). Anyone But You star Sydney Sweet made her hosting debut. While Kacey Musgraves and Ariana Grande stepped in as musical guests. But things are heading out of the delicate auro the ladies brought into the realm of ragers.

Yesterday (March 9), the SNL team took to its Instagram page to announce the talent to unveil the next set of stars slated to grace the small screen. On March 30, “Fein” rapper Travis Scott will make his long-await return to the beloved late-night show, but only in the role of featured musical guest. Scott made his SNL performance debut in October 2018 to promote his acclaimed album Astroworld.

When he appears later this month, fans expect a medley of his latest chart-topping album, Utopia’s biggest hits.

Golden Globe Award-winning actor Ramy Youssef will host the evening. The comedian is sure to bring the show’s much-missed refreshing humor. Outside of flexing his onscreen skills, Youssef’s cameo will serve as a promotional boost to his forthcoming HBO comedy special Ramy Youssef: More Feelings.

Youssef’s special, Ramy Youssef: More Feelings, will debut on the network on March 23. Find more information here.

“UTOPIA” Goes Double Platinum, Fans Question How Travis Scott Lost To Killer Mike At The Grammys

UTOPIA is officially a double platinum album. The project absolutely stacked with features spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Album 200 and still sits at No. 17 on the most recent chart. It was only a matter of time before the album hit that next vaunted certification mark.

However, the news has spawned some discontent amongst Scott’s loyal fanbase. In the comments of social media posts announcing the news, fans lamented that somehow, UTOPIA still lost the “Best Rap Album” Grammy to Killer Mike’s Michael. While very well-regarded, and obviously considered Grammy-worthy, Michael peaked at No. 58 on the Billboard chart. Do you think UTOPIA deserved the Grammy over Killer Mike? Let us know in the comments.

Travis Scott Rolling Loud Air Jordans Sell for $9760

Meanwhile, a pair of Air Jordans that Scott gave to a fan during Rolling Loud Germany recently sold for nearly $10,000 at auction. The shoes were sold through Goldin Auctions for $9760 after a 29-bid auction in December 2023. This saw the lot fall just shy of the $10,000 estimate Goldin had given it. Scott had gifted the shoes to an Egyptian fan after bringing the man up on stage. It was one of several impromptu clothing giveaways Scott did in his pre-Utopia festival circuit.

As mentioned, it wasn’t the first time that Scott gave away his shoes over the summer. Earlier in July, at Longitude Festival in Dublin, Scott got up close and personal with the throbbing mass of fans at the barricade. Picking out one fan in particular, Scott began to rap back and forth with the fan, who eagerly responded. The back-and-forth continued, with Scott getting more and more hyped up about the interaction. When the verse ended, Scott pulled off his shirt, an unreleased Utopia merch item, as well as his Air Jordans. Fighting back the sea of grabbing hands, Scott handed the items to the fan he had rapped with.

Travis Scott Took The 2024 Grammys To ‘Utopia’ With A Moody Performance Of ‘My Eyes’ And ‘Fein’ With Playboi Carti

The 2024 Grammy Awards took a trip to Utopia as Travis Scott brought his usual raucous energy to his performance.

Opening with a moody rendition of the introspective “My Eyes” and then broke out into a more energetic performance of “Fein,” replete with flamethrowers and strobing spotlights as mist surrounded his asteroid stage. He was joined by the song’s featured artist Playboi Carti, who worse a creepy mask, and spent the back half of his performance throwing chairs.

Travis is nominated for one award this year: Best Rap Album for Utopia, which dropped July 28, 2023, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 496,000 album-equivalent units sold/streamed. 252,000 of those units were pure album sales.

The album arguably marked a return to form for the Houston rapper, who had been largely absent from the spotlight in the year following the tragic incident at the 2021 Astroworld Festival in which 10 fans were killed by a crowd crush and hundreds more were injured.

Since his return, Travis has been more of a ubiquitous marketing presence than ever, crisscrossing North America on his Circus Maxiumus tour for Utopia, releasing a new Nike collaboration alongside tennis legend John McEnroe, and even starring in a new film by Harmony Korine shot entirely in infrared false color.

Travis has been nominated for 10 Grammy Awards over the course of his career, including Best Rap Album for 2018’s Astroworld, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for that album’s Drake-featuring single “Sicko Mode,” and Best Melodic Rap Performance for his 2021 single “Highest In The Room.”

Travis Scott Fans React To Killer Mike Winning Best Rap Album Over “Utopia”

Travis Scott fans were in an uproar on social media after Killer Mike took home the awards for Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Album at the 2024 Grammy Awards on Sunday night. Overall, the ceremony marked Scott’s 10th losing nomination over the course of his career. He’s still yet to win.

“Travis Scott deserved this one especially after the grammys disaster of 2018,” one user wrote on Twitter. Another shared a highlight reel of LeBron James with the caption: “The Grammys when it comes to always robbing Travis Scott off AOTY.” One fan tweeted: “Listen I like it. But I’m telling you right now pretentious whites who ‘aren’t really into rap’ really f*ck with Run the Jewels and Killer Mike. See it with a lot of my festival friends. I liked all the albums nominated and am happy for him. But it’s not AOTY IMO.”
