Travis Scott Lets Kevin Durant Know That His Album “Utopia” Will Be “F***ing Insane”

Kevin Durant is one of many fans waiting patiently for Travis Scott’s next album, the highly anticipated UTOPIA. Moreover, he recently revealed during the latest episode of podcast The ETCs with Kevin Durant that Travis actually spoke to him about it. According to La Flame, UTOPIA might rank as one of his best projects yet, although we know very little about it. In fact, Travis moved with such secrecy and mystery regarding UTOPIA that even a star basketball player is finding access a bit difficult. Regardless, Durant said that he’s still trying to hear some snippets ahead of its launch.

“I didn’t hear it, and I want to ask for some songs,” the 34-year-old expressed. “But I know for a fact he won’t send them, so I might have to catch him in the studio one of these days before it comes out, but he’s telling me that it’s f***ing insane.” Of course, the “Road to UTOPIA” has been long, arduous, convoluted, and rarely updated until recent reports. Still, it remains one of the most anticipated projects of the year.

Kevin Durant On Travis Scott’s UTOPIA: “He’s Telling Me That It’s F***ing Insane”

Unfortunately, the rollout for this new album was cut short when ten people tragically lost their lives at the Astroworld Festival in 2021. Before that, the “goosebumps” rapper teased the project only through mentioning its name, whose futuristic allure got fans excited. Back in August of 2022, after many months of restraint, the artist announced a one-week residency at a Vegas nightclub. However, now things look much clearer, as Travis and other sources hinted towards the album’s soon-to-come drop.

“We have a new Travis Scott record, expected to come in June,” Epic Records CEO Sylvia Rhone said during an acceptance speech at Billboard‘s Women In Music event this year. Meanwhile, Scott outlined upcoming releases from his Cactus Jack camp, which could actually push UTOPIA back depending on how those prior releases go. “Sheck Wes, You Know The Scouts is on the way, we got Faygo about to put out a lil EP that’s on the way,” he said during an NBA All-Star Weekend event this year. “And right after that, UTOPIA. So we came here with that message and I can’t wait for these motherf***ers to drop this s**t.” Let us know if you’re looking forward to UTOPIA in the comments and come back to HNHH for the latest on Travis Scott and Kevin Durant.

Travis Scott & Epic Records CEO Share Promising Update On “Utopia” Release Date

Among the several albums expected to drop this year, fans are anxious to hear Travis Scott’s Utopia. It’s been five years since Astroworld and Scott’s gone through the highs-and-lows of stardom within that period. He’s become one of the biggest brands in America with collaborations alongside McDonald’s, Jordan, and Fortnite to show for it. At the same time, his long-awaited “comeback” was impeded by the tragic events that transpired at Astroworld Festival in 2021.

Since the deadly crowd crush, Scott’s remained rather lowkey in the public eye. He hasn’t dropped much music since then, so it’s still unclear what we should expect from him o Utopia. Though he previously hinted at a project titled, Dystopia, the predecessor to Utopia, it appears that those plans may have been trashed and he’s gearing up to directly unleash his his fourth studio album.

Epic Records CEO Shares Update On Travis Scott’s “Utopia” Release Date

Travis Scott’s boss quietly revealed when we should expect the project last month. In a resurfaced excerpt from Sylvia Rhone’s cover story for Billboard’s Women In Music 2023’s Executive Of The Year, she outlined what to expect from the label, including a timeframe for Scott’s forthcoming effort. “We have a new Travis Scott record, expected to come in June,” Rhone’s said before giving a shout out to Future. “Last year, Future delivered the biggest album of his 10-year career at the company. How many hip-hop artists can do that and still be relevant?”

The resurfaced excerpt comes shortly after Travis Scott announced that his upcoming album would arrive after the rest of the Cactus Jack roster releases their respective projects. It seems that the campaign began this morning when Don Toliver released Love Sick. “We got Faygo about to put a little EP out. That’s on the way. And right after that, Utopia,” he said during a concert. So, it seems like Utopia will be coming out just in time for the summer, if all goes to plan. Just before that, he informed fans that Utopia was coming soon during a celebrity softball game. Check out Scott’s announcement above.

Travis Scott’s ‘Utopia’ Album Is Coming Soon, But Under One Very Specific Condition, He Revealed

Travis Scott’s highly-anticipated fourth album, Utopia, will be coming soon, according to the Houston hitmaker. However, not before his Cactus Jack artists, Sheck Wes, Don Toliver, SoFaygo, and DJ Chase B, drop their upcoming projects.

In a clip that has surfaced online, the rapper and producer can be seen on stage sharing the announcement with a crowd of fans, who were more than excited to hear the news.

Travis Scott hasn’t said much about his upcoming project but did note that it would be out sometime this year. The rapper has been slowly creeping back into the public’s eye since the tragedy at Astroworld, his annual music festival, in 2021. Recently, Scott made appearances on both Metro Boomin’s Heros & Villians as well as SZA’s SOS album that was released last year.

Aside from new music, the rapper is expected to perform at Rolling Loud and the Wireless Festival alongside acts like Cardi B, Playboi Carti, and more.

Don Toliver will be the first Cactus Jack artist expected to drop this year. The “After Party” rapper’s third album Love Sick will be released on Friday (February 24). In the meantime, the rest of the Jackboys are hard at work on their upcoming projects.

Travis Scott Confirms That “Utopia” Is “On The Way”

Travis Scott should be here any second now. Since the fall of 2020, the Houston icon has been teasing his fourth official studio album Utopia. Although he has provided continuous updates regarding it, very little music has materialized. But, you could likely attribute part of that to Fall 2021’s Astroworld catastrophe. While he was just beginning to rev up his album rollout, the disaster happened. At his annual Astroworld festival in Nov. 2021, 10 people in the crowd died because of how crammed and rowdy it was. The night before that, though, Scott had put out his first two promotional singles for the album. “Escape Plan” and “Mafia” were meant to get fans hyped for the impending album. Instead, that is the last we’ve heard of Travis in the form of a solo release since.

However, in 2022, he did take on some duties as a feature artist. Whether it be Southside’s “Hold That Heat,” NAV’s “Never Sleep” or Pharrell William’s “Down In Atlanta,” Travis Scott was busy all year. Additionally, he gave four guest verses for Metro Boomin’s December album Heroes & Villains. It seems he used 2022 as a nice way to revamp his career. Fans are now hoping this indicates Utopia will arrive soon. And, this week, he added fuel to the Utopia fire once more.

Travis Scott’s Promise

On Thursday (Feb. 16), Travis Scott hosted the 2023 Cactus Jack Foundation HBCU Celebrity Softball Classic at Minute Maid Park in his hometown of Houston, TX. Travis had many celebrities and H-town legends join him for this event to fill the rosters. Alongside Metro Boomin, basketball stars like Tracy McGrady and Steve Francis and football stars like Andre Johnson, Vince Young, and Adrian Peterson all participated. In one moment of the game, Travis hit a running round ball that almost saw him record a single. But, he was thrown out in the nick of time.

But, the real story of the day came after the game. While signing autographs for fans and Houstonians, Travis was badgered about Utopia. When fans continued asking him when the LP would come, he gave them an inspiring answer. “That motherf**ker on the way,” Scott proclaimed. The video posted showed Travis eagerly shouting this, which means he could be excited about a soon-to-come rollout. Although he recently broke it off with his baby momma Kylie Jenner for good, Travis Scott seems to be in good spirits during a year that could be huge for his career.

Travis Scott Performed (And DJ’d) At A Coachella Afterparty Despite Being Dropped From The Lineup

There’s not really a roadmap for getting your rap career back on track after a crowd-control incident at one of your concerts leaves ten people dead, but Travis Scott is attempting to create one. Despite being dropped from the Coachella lineup this past December following the previous month’s Astroworld tragedy, Scott performed at an afterparty, according to reports from TMZ and E!.

At a La Quinta, California function, about ten minutes away from the Empire Polo Club, where Coachella’s Saturday night festivities headlined by Billie Eilish were wrapping up, Scott reportedly grabbed the mic at 3 a.m. and even got behind the turntables. The party was put on by the David Arquette-owned West Hollywood club Bootsy Bellows and a source at the party told E!, “Travis got in the DJ booth with the DJ Chase B. He played the bangers but ‘Goosebumps’ was the crowd please [sic].”

This is the second time Scott has performed since the Astroworld tragedy, as he made an appearance at a pre-Oscars event last month. He’s not exactly keeping a low profile anymore, as a series of four billboards promoting his upcoming album/project Utopia appeared on the Interstate-5 road to Coachella last week. The four billboards each read a part of a phrase that when put together read: “PSST……Looking for UTOPIA? WRONG WAY,” and then the fourth billboard just featured the logo for Scott’s label Cactus Jack.

Billboards For Travis Scott’s New Album ‘Utopia’ Popped Up In California Ahead Of Coachella

Last year, things went sideways for Houston rapper Travis Scott when his signature festival, Astroworld, was the site of mass casualties. Now facing a class action lawsuit, not just from the families of the nine people who died, but plenty more who were injured or traumatized, Scott has been laying low while multiple collaborations were put on hold. He’s was initially slated to headline Coachella next weekend, though, but along with returning to the stage for that massive event, plans for his next project, Utopia, were also delayed.

That became even more clear this weekend when billboards promoting the album popped up near the Coachella grounds. Since local attendees tend to make up the bulk of the crowd at Coachella, the marketing definitely makes sense, but it’s notable because it’s one of the first public acts Scott has taken since the tragedy in Texas. It seems like the billboards were planned in conjunction with his performance, which isn’t happening now, but they’ve been put up anyway. Obviously, Scott alone isn’t responsible for what happened at Astroworld, and at some point he will have to move forward, but it remains to be seen how his next album will fare with the public.

So far, four different billboards have popped up, “PSST….” and “WRONG WAY!” are the most oblique, while “Looking for UTOPIA?” and one with the Cactus Jack insignia are more obvious. Check out photos of the billboards below.

Travis Scott Returned To Instagram To Tease His Next Project, ‘Utopia,’ With Some Headphones

The end of 2021 turned nightmarish for Travis Scott after his signature Astroworld festival led to the deaths of nine people, including a nine-year-old boy who was trampled to death. A crowd surge when Drake showed up to the festival resulted in the stampede, and security was unable to handle the surges. Since the tragedy, Travis has made it clear he didn’t know what was happening at the time, and tried to make things right by helping families with the funeral costs — but many have refused.

The rapper has been mostly laying low on social media since the event, but is apparently going forward with working on his Utopia album while the ongoing lawsuits for Astroworld are mounting. Last week, one of his producers let fans know that Travis was still working on the project, and he all but confirmed that last night in a series of posts on his Instagram story.

Along with a contemplative beach shot (he was reportedly in Cabo working on the record, according to his producer Wheezy), Scott also shared photos of what looks like customized Utopia headphones, a pretty clear sign that the album is definitely in the works, and possibly close to done. It will be interesting to see how new music goes down with fans following the festival’s tragic situation. Check out the photos below.

Travis Scott Is ‘Putting The Finishing Touches’ On His Next Album According To One Of Its Producers

In another timeline, Travis Scott would have begun the year by teasing his highly anticipated fourth album, reportedly titled Utopia. However, due to the tragedy that took place at his Astroworld Festival, which left ten dead and hundreds injured, much of his focus has been on working with victims and dealing with the mounting lawsuits that have come as a result. Despite this, Travis has apparently found time to work on that album, which producer Wheezy revealed during an interview with Billboard.

Wheezy, who has worked with the likes of Future, Young Thug, and more, sat down with Billboard to discuss his work on Gunna’s new album, DS4EVER. During this conversation, Wheezy was asked about his work with Scott and if he was back to working on his next album. “Yeah, still working on it and putting the finishing touches on that,” Wheezy replied. “He’s back in Cabo working on it and I’m going out there soon. I’m going out there probably in the next two or three weeks to link up with him.”

Based on Wheezy’s comments, new music from Travis could arrive in the near future. It would be the rapper’s first drop since he released “Escape Plan” and “Mafia” last fall.

Travis Scott Lives Like A Boss In His ‘Escape Plan’ Video

As of this writing, Travis Scott’s third Astroworld Festival is already underway, where he’s expected to preview at least one or two new songs from his upcoming album Utopia after releasing “Escape Plan” and “Mafia” earlier today. However, before then, he’s shared the video for “Escape Plan,” which finds him living like a boss, directing a team of brawny security guards, and running on a treadmill on a yacht.

Anticipation for Travis’ album, the follow-up to the critically acclaimed commercial juggernaut Astroworld, is at a fever pitch thanks to the new singles, as well as Travis’ recent appearance at Rolling Loud in New York and his features on projects from the likes of Baby Keem, Don Toliver, Drake, Lil Baby and Lil Durk, and Young Thug. He also expanded his Astroworld Festival to encompass a full week of events and philanthropy, including the opening of several Nike-sponsored basketball courts and the premiere of his A24-produced film.

For fans excited to see what Travis’ set will look like but are unable to attend the festival in person, he’ll be live-streaming the set exclusively on Apple Music later tonight, beginning at 7 pm PT/10 pm ET. You can watch a preview here.

Travis Scott Dreams Of Wealth And Running Away From The Chaos On ‘Escape Plan’ And ‘Mafia’

For the third time in four years, Travis Scott will bring the rage to his hometown of Houston with his trademark Astroworld Festival. In addition to performing “The Scotts” and “Franchise,” as well as his last album, Astroworld, Travis will most likely perform a new song at the festival as he returns tonight with “Escape Plan” and “Mafia.” The former track is everything you expect from him as it’s raucous and full of chaos while the latter is a bit more relaxed and calm for a record from Travis

Travis’ upcoming Astroworld Festival, which takes place on November 5 and 6, will feature performances from 21 Savage, Baby Keem, Bad Bunny, BIA, Chief Keef, Don Toliver, Earth, Wind & Fire, Houston All-Stars, Lil Baby, Master P, Roddy Ricch, Sheck Wes, Sofaygo, SZA, Teezo Touchdown, Toro Y Moi, Tame Impala, Young Thug, and Yves Tumor. Travis will also livestream his first of two solo sets at Astroworld exclusively on Apple Music.

The new track comes after he joined Young Thug and Drake on “Bubbly” and teamed with Don Toliver for “Flocky Flocky.”

You can listen to “Escape Plan” in the video above and check out Mafia here.
