The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers are teaming up for a new podcast called… well, The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast. While it’s not the most original title, the endeavor sounds pretty interesting.
According to the recently launched Instagram account for the audio collab, the podcast will take a deep dive into each of The Lonely Island‘s digital shorts that instantly became viral hits after airing on SNL.
“We’re launching a podcast!!” reads the first official post for the podcast. “Episode by episode we’ll discuss how each short was created, what the response to it was at the time, and what impact, if any, it still has today. We’re so excited to relive our time at SNL and reminisce on the nearly 50-year-old show. Along the way we’ll talk all things SNL from guests, fellow cast members, and favorite live sketches including many that never aired!”
The first episode launches April 8 on the podcast network of your choice, and new episodes will drop every Monday.

Still riding the highs of his fourth studio album, Utopia, Travis Scott paid a visit to Saturday Night Live. While on stage, Scott delivered a chilling performance of “My Eyes.”
During “My Eyes,” Scott set the scene, laying supine on a stage platform, as a space-set background created the feeling of rising into space. As the beat switched, Scott rose up, bouncing to the beat, getting the audience ready for an even bigger performance to come later.

“I was trying to take Broadway—because the thing about Broadway theaters,” said Scott. “They’re kind of small—I was trying to bring the idea of Broadway to bigger venues. Like, either, like, plays in stadiums or plays in arenas, but still make it feel like a Broadway bill.”

Yesterday (March 9), the SNL team took to its Instagram page to announce the talent to unveil the next set of stars slated to grace the small screen. On March 30, “Fein” rapper Travis Scott will make his long-await return to the beloved late-night show, but only in the role of featured musical guest. Scott made his SNL performance debut in October 2018 to promote his acclaimed album Astroworld.
When he appears later this month, fans expect a medley of his latest chart-topping album, Utopia’s biggest hits.
Golden Globe Award-winning actor Ramy Youssef will host the evening. The comedian is sure to bring the show’s much-missed refreshing humor. Outside of flexing his onscreen skills, Youssef’s cameo will serve as a promotional boost to his forthcoming HBO comedy special Ramy Youssef: More Feelings.

Travis Scott will serve as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live‘s episode on March 30. The news was announced a few hours after the March 9 episode, which saw Ariana Grande perform songs from her new album. Scott, who will likely perform tracks from UTOPIA, will appear on an episode hosted by actor and comedian Ramy Youssef. Scott previously served as a musical guest for an episode hosted by Awkwafina in 2018.
However, a resurfaced promo for that 2018 appearance had fans debating whether the rapper has a drug addiction. In the clip, Scott is in a completely different galaxy. He doesn’t appear to be even vaguely aware of what is going on as Awkwafina and then cast member Cecily Strong do a bit about Crazy Rich Asians. Bear in mind, this was five years ago. However, this didn’t stop fans from expressing modern concern about the rapper’s drug habits. “Yaaaa i never done no sh-t like this on just weed. Hoping he doesn’t OD like other rappers cos clearly he don’t got anyone who cares enough to stop him from doing this on live television,” one person wrote on social media.
However, Scott’s potential drug usage is not the only thing his fans have been debating. The news that UTOPIA had gone double platinum spawned some discontent amongst Scott’s loyal fanbase. In the comments of social media posts announcing the news, fans lamented that somehow, UTOPIA still lost the “Best Rap Album” Grammy to Killer Mike‘s Michael. While very well-regarded, and obviously considered Grammy-worthy, Michael peaked at No. 58 on the Billboard chart.
Meanwhile, UTOPIA spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Album 200 and still sits at No. 17 on the most recent chart. Of course, Scott is somewhat used to being snubbed at the Grammys. In 2019, Scott saw both “Sicko Mode” and Astroworld lost out in the song and album categories respectively. This included losing to Drake’s “God’s Plan”.
21 Savage brought out Summer Walker as part of his set on the most recent episode of Saturday Night Live. The pair performed “Prove It” during Savage’s set. The episode proved to be a controversial one, primarily due to its host. Shane Gillis has found major success as a stand-up comedian over the past few years. However, his host spot on SNL was largely opposed by fans. Gillis briefly joined the show as a cast member in 2019 but was fired after allegedly making racist jokes behind the scenes. Gillis’ flat opening monologue only made tangential references to his infamy beyond an opening line of asking the audience not to Google him.
However, fans are starting to question just how real the recent drama between 21 Savage and Adin Ross was following the announcement that the rapper was performing on SNL. Several fans questioned whether the claims that 21 used marked cards to scam hundreds of thousands of dollars out of Ross was simply a way to promote 21’s turn on the popular late-night show. 21’s appearance was overshadowed by the scandal with Ross, as well as the aforementioned issues with host Shane Gillis. This theorizing has resurfaced now that 21’s appearance has come and gone, despite a few weeks’ break between his announcement and his appearance.
Further evidence concerning the idea that it was faked came on 21’s own website. Days after the scandal, 21 started selling branded dice and cards as merch. The set of three d6 dice and a velvet bag costs $25 while a back of regulation playing cards costs $15. At the time of writing, the playing cards have already sold out. The new merch was released with very little fanfare but was clearly inspired by the ongoing scandal with Ross.
