Today In Hip Hop History: The Diplomats’ Debut Album ‘Diplomatic Immunity’ Turns 20 Years Old!

On this date two decades ago, Cam’ron’s crew from Harlem, The Diplomats, dropped their debut album Diplomatic Immunity on the Roc A Fella Records/Def Jam imprint during the pivotal time when Dame Dash appointed Cam’ron as the President of Roc-A-Fella Records.

Coming on the heels of the release of Cam’s Come Home With Me LP, Diplomatic Immunity introduced the entire Dipset squad, including Juelz Santana, Jim Jones, Freekey Zeekey, Un Kasa, and Hell Rell. With production from the likes of Heatmakerz, DR Period, and a then virtually unknown Kanye West, the trailblazing sound of old soul samples pushed Dipset to the forefront of the creative curve of Hip Hop, which offered the Blood-affiliated crew from Uptown an almost cult-like following. Rell was incarcerated by the time the album was available for purchase.

The album was saturated with longstanding hits such as “I Really Mean It,” the infectious “Dipset Anthem,” the female-friendly “Hey Ma,” and the Master P assisted “Bout It Bout It…Part I “. Commercially, the album was considered average, debuting at #8 on the Billboard 200 and selling 92,000 copies in its first week, but the album was certified Gold by the RIAA in 2005.

Salute to Cam, Juelz on the inside, Jim Jones, Freekey, and Hell Rell for this 20 year old classic piece of Hip Hop history!

Juelz Santana Says Police Deleted Hard Drive With 100+ Songs Following 2011 Raid

Juelz Santana’s getting back into the fold these days following his release from prison. Though he came home in 2020, he didn’t necessarily leap back into the limelight. Instead, he put his focus on building his business and creating quality music. We’re still waiting on his anticipated project, We In Motion with DJ Drama, which should be due out later this year. The project is expected to have a number of amazing features, such as Dej Loaf and Lil Durk, though he’s yet to confirm a release date.

Nonetheless, he’s back in the press with some insightful interviews where he’s provided gems about his history in the rap game. During our December interview with Juelz, he shared details behind Cam’ron’s “Bout It Bout It Pt. 2” music video and bringing BMF to Harlem, among other Dipset jewels. That was clearly the tip of the iceberg when it comes to anecdotes about his career. Most recently, he opened up about the time police raided his home in 2011.

Juelz Santana Lost 100 Songs During Raid

Santana sat down for an in-depth interview with Off The Porch where he opened up about the infamous raid on his New Jersey home over a decade ago. The drug-related bust landed him behind bars on multiple drug felony charges in 2011, though what people didn’t know was that police confiscated his hard drive. “The police took my hard drives. I had over 100 songs and they erased them,” Juelz said. “It was crazy. They raided my studio, they took my hard drive. When I got the hard drives back them shits was empty. Over 100 songs gone.”

Though he tried to re-record the songs, he said that he didn’t write anything down which made it even more difficult. Ultimately, it was this moment that left him feeling hopeless. “That discouraged me, that was around the time I shut down a lot,” he continued. “It was really discouraging because you know to lose that amount of records that I worked so hard on and was getting ready to put out. It was crazy.” Check out the full interview above and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

Juelz Santana Wants Kimbella Back, Posts Valentine’s Day Messages For Her

Juelz Santana expressed on Instagram that he wants Kimbella back, posting a couple of Valentine’s Day posts on Instagram for her. Moreover, his shots come a few months after Kimbella announced that they broke up last December. Still, his first post featured pictures of the model in what appears to be her wedding gown. “Till…..” he captioned the post. “HAPPY LOVE DAY…. I LOVE U… FOREVER.” Also, in another post, he included pictures of his proposal during Dipset’s Apollo Theater show in 2019 with a romantic song in the background. “I KNOW LOVING ME IS HARD…” he captioned. “BUT U THE ONLY 1 I WANT 4 THE JOB… HAPPY LOVE DAY #US #FOREVER MUSIC COURTESY OF @youngja.41 #DEATHROW.”

Furthermore, Kimbella posted a thirst trap in December to announce she seemingly ended her relationship with Juelz. “Next chapter … S I N G L E,” she captioned her beach day pictures. Also, she added some messages to her Instagram story that hinted at the reasoning behind the split. “Arguing 24/7 because his feelings were all that mattered,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “Begging him to change so we could make it work. Feeling numb because he made you feel like the problem. Watching him mess up again when he promised he’d change.”

“Feeling alone after he lied the whole relationship,” she continued. “Knowing it’s time to give up even though you love him. Figuring out how you’re going to fix yourself after he dragged you down.” While the breakup happened recently, they’ve been together for over ten years. Moreover, they dated for a decade before tying the knot in 2019, following Santana’s concert proposal. Furthermore, the New York MC had his third child with her that year, but also faced jail time.

“For me I got to turn jail into Yale,” he said of the prison experience. “I got to be smarter, I got to read a lot more and I got back to writing,” he shared. “Like I wrote so much in there. Like my execution plans since I been home been phenomenal right now, like I’m just all the way in getting to it.” Regardless, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest on Juelz Santana, Kimbella, and their relationship woes.

Lil Wayne Snippet Teased On Juelz Santana’s Instagram

Juelz Santana just shared a snippet of a new Lil Wayne song on his Instagram. Moreover, he teased a new album on the way, expected to be a Gangsta Grillz tape titled We In Motion set for later this year. In this new snippet, Weezy starts his verse over some menacing bell hits and what sound like string swells. Whatever Santana’s cooking up, it seems the New Orleans veteran will deliver some heat.

“Ayo, the cocaine whiter, the rope chain brighter,” Wayne raps on his part. However, the clip abruptly ends before we can hear more. There’s a spoken word bit right before, or at least that’s what’s noticeable from the snippet. Also, Santana dons a face mask as he sits in front of the mixed song on a computer. Amid empty Pepsi cans and a half-smoked blunt, it looked like he was in the studio for a while.

Moreover, Santana teased fans with what he’s been cooking with another notable spitter, Joyner Lucas. As he gears up for an anticipated drop, some other developments in his life unfortunately came about. Reality star Kimbella announced her split from the rapper back in December of last year.

While they didn’t reveal much about the breakup, a video that Kimbella shared might contain some hidden answers.

“Arguing 24/7 because his feelings were all that mattered,” she captioned the video. “Begging him to change so we could make it work. Feeling numb because he made you feel like the problem. Watching him mess up again when he promised he’d change. Feeling alone after he lied the whole relationship. Knowing it’s time to give up even though you love him. Figuring out how you’re going to fix yourself after he dragged you down.”

Meanwhile, dropping new music isn’t all that Tunechi is likely worried about. The “A Milli” MC recently lost a $20 million legal battle with his former manager for unfulfilled payments. Still, as one of the most talked-about legends in hip-hop, a brighter news story is probably just around the corner.

Regardless, what do you think of the Lil Wayne snippet shared to Juelz Santana’s Instagram? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments down below. Also, as always, come back to HNHH for more sneak peeks from your favorite rapper’s next release.

Juelz Santana Teases Song With Joyner Lucas Off Forthcoming Gangsta Grillz Mixtape

Juelz Santana is gearing up to drop his highly-anticipated Gangsta Grillz mixtape, We In Motion, sometime later this year.

In order to promote the project, the Harlem native took to his Instagram account on Thursday (January 5) to hype it up. Playing a snippet of what’s assumedly the beat for a collaborative track with Joyner Lucas, he doesn’t hold back in sharing his excitement.

“Santana and Joyner Lucas. I’m not even gon’ say no other names. O.M.G. We In Motion on the f*cking way,” he exclaims as the drill beat plays in the background. Considering he’s not mentioning the names of any other artists, it will certainly be interesting to see who else will be featuring on the tape.

The Dipset rapper announced the new mixtape in an Instagram post on Christmas Day. It’s set to serve as his first full-length offering following his release from prison in August of 2020. The Harlem native was behind bars for a year and a half on gun charges.

It’s been nearly three years since we last got a full-length project from the 40-year-old. 2020’s #FREESANTANA boasts features from the likes of 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne, Jim Jones and more. It dropped while he was still serving his time in prison.

Furthermore, DJ Drama has certainly been busy lately. Last year alone, he hosted several projects, including Icewear Vezzo‘s latest offering, Paint the City and Jeezy‘s SNOFALL. Most recently though, he handles hosting duties on French Montana and his crew’s sixth instalment of their Coke Boys series.

Are you hyped for We In Motion to drop? Comment your thoughts on Juelz Santana seemingly getting ready to rap over a drill beat. Finally, make sure to stay tuned to HNHH for all of the latest music updates and releases.

Shortly after Kimbella publicly announced her split from Juelz Santana, the reality television star dropped a few hints at why her marriage to the Dipset rapper might have failed.

Posting a video to her Instagram story, Santana’s estranged wife alluded to arguments and feeling alone in a relationship being reasons for the breakup.

Showing clips from various films, the video Kimbella shared included the caption, “Arguing 24/7 because his feelings were all that mattered. Begging him to change so we could make it work. Feeling numb because he made you feel like the problem. Watching him mess up again when he promised he’d change.”
