YFN Lucci Could Come Home In Early 2025 According To Record Label’s Parole Update

YFN Lucci just got a promising update in his sentence on RICO charges, according to his label Think It’s A Game Records. They recently took to social media to announce that he received a tentative parole date of January 2025, meaning that he could go home very soon. This follows a previous Los Angeles Times report that posited a similar development. In addition, this comes months after Fulton County’s District Attorney, Fani Willis, issued a letter in support of the Atlanta rapper’s early release from jail to the State Board of Pardons and Paroles back in July. Of course, take this with a grain of salt, as it’s still an early report and doesn’t confirm a surefire freedom date.

After all, YFN Lucci sought this outcome before, and it looks like he might be more successful this time around. For those unaware, law enforcement arrested him back in 2021 over a RICO indictment, and he pleaded guilty to one count of violating Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act in January of 2024. The court sentenced him to ten years in prison and ten years on probation. As for the former, a judge ruled that the time he already served became credit for his prison sentence.

YFN Lucci Gets Crucial Parole Update

“Pursuant to the parties’ negotiated agreement, the State does not object to Defendant, Rayshawn Bennett[‘s release from prison] from Department of Corrections the first time he becomes eligible for parole or after serving one-third of his prison sentence, whichever comes first,” Fulton County D.A. Fani Willis wrote concerning YFN Lucci. “This recommendation by the State [rests] upon the Defendant’s compliance with the lawful authority of all Department of Corrections personnel and [the absence of any] incidents of any kind in any facility [that housed him] while in the custody of the Department of Corrections.”

Meanwhile, this YFN Lucci news arrives after another massive update in another Atlanta hip-hop criminal trial this week. Young Thug took a plea deal in the YSL RICO case, and the judge’s sentence allowed him to leave jail on 15 years of probation. We will see whether a similar fate emerges for Lucci.

Russ Calls Out Hip-Hop Media With Conductor Williams-Produced “Legend Freestyle”

Russ has always been a pretty vocal guy and a controversial one in the eyes of some as well. His passion for the landscape of hip-hop, where he fits within it, and the media’s relationship with the artists, are all topics you can find him speaking on. All three are sort of covered in Russ’ newest song “Legend Freestyle,” produced by Conductor Williams. The latter is discussed, but the Georgia MC is holding back one bit. He’s calling out publications by name and unleashing on the credentials of journalists. “I’m not impressed with editors of Rolling Stone or GQ / Y’all egos crazy if you think that artists actually need you / Y’all don’t move the needle.”

But he doesn’t stop there. “It’s a different game, adapt, just like the rest of us / Critics can’t take criticism but be the first ones disrespectin’ us, p***ies / Cosplayin’ as God like you got power, power.” It’s not anything jaw-dropping from Russ at this point, as he’s been saying this for years. On top of putting the media on blast, he gasses himself up as a legend in the game. In some respects, he certainly has standing to make this claim. He’s been a dominant figure in the sort-of underground, sort-of mainstream lane for over a decade due to his prolific nature. Give the track a spin and see what you think of it and its messages.

“Legend Freestyle” – Russ

Quotable Lyrics:

If you do me wrong I’m in unforgivin’ mood
I make the music that my younger self would love to listen to
Permission to be myself, but I’m not askin’ no more
I starved myself of self-love, but I’m not fastin’ no more
Tell myself that I’m okay, I’m just workin’ on believin’ it
I see all the love and praise, I’m workin’ on receivin’ it

Diddy’s Key To Miami Beach Officially Revoked By The City

The wide breadth of the Diddy scandal impacts a lot of environments in society beyond the music and legal realm, whether that’s 50 Cent’s old Starz deals of full-on city endorsements. For example, Miami Beach previously gave the Bad Boy mogul the key to the city back in 2015 for his entertainment industry impact and holding the REVOLT Music Conference in the city. Now, according to TMZ, Miami officially rescinded this honor this week amid his criminal case on sex trafficking and racketeering allegations, plus his mountain of civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault and other alleged crimes.

For those unaware, Diddy also lost the key to the city of New York earlier this year following a letter from Mayor Eric Adams. As for this Miami Beach situation, TMZ reports that Mayor Steven Meiner participated in a unanimous vote along with the rest of the city commission to revoke this key during an in-person hearing on the matter on Wednesday (October 30). However, alleged sources reportedly relayed to the outlet that the mayor still has to officially sign this imminent decision into effect, which will surely come in the near future.

Other sponsors of the resolution include David Suarez, Joe Magazine, Tanya Katzoff Bhatt, and Alex Fernandez. In addition to this, the city of Miami Beach also pulled back on their “Sean Diddy Combs Day” on October 13 back in June after video footage of a harrowing assault on Cassie released to the public via CNN. In fact, this footage is at the center of a legal dispute between prosecutors and the defense in the federal criminal trial, as the latter alleges that the former leaked it to the press. The last updates we got on that were some scathing responses from the State to Sean Combs’ legal team’s accusations, denying anything of the sort.

Meanwhile, this news comes as other allegations about the Combs’ personal lives emerge that don’t have anything to do with the Diddy case. So keep a well-trained eye out to distinguish more salacious fare from actually relevant and important updates in these legal battles. We’ll see whether any other honor revocations follow.

Saweetie Wants To Be Naughty & Nice This Holiday Season On Her “Dear Big Santa” EP

The holiday season is the most magical time of the year for a lot of people. They love celebrating and getting in the spirit as soon as Halloween is in its waning moments. Decorations inside and out start to get put up, wish lists are made, and family time is spent as much as possible. Musicians do help in getting people in the right mindset, as carols and other iconic compositions are always on the radio or ringing throughout stores of all kinds. Overall, the really help spread that holiday cheer and set the vibes right for the next two months. California rapper Saweetie is looking to assist with that, as she is here with her Dear Big Santa EP.

Unless there’s someone we’ve missed, she looks to be the first in the genre to be releasing holiday tunes. These are her first Christmas songs of her career too, and they are naughty and nice. “I Want You This Christmas” is the cutesier and cuddlier record, as she sings and raps about treating her man right. However, “Big Santa” is the complete opposite. The are numerous sexual innuendos peppered throughout the song, such as “Put me on your wishlist, I know you wanna have me / I got a big bow on my body, unwrap me / Might be a little naughty, but you know I keep it classy (Mwah).” No matter where you fall on Santa’s list, Saweetie’s got you covered with an ideal anthem this Christmas.

Lil Peep’s Estate Releases “Latitude” On Late Rapper’s 28th Birthday

The late Lil Peep would have been 28 years old on November 1. Born Gustav Åhr, the Los Angeles (by way of Allentown, Pennsylvania) rapper turned heads from a young age. He emerged as a popular act on SoundCloud by 2015, with his blend of trap, emo, and lo-fi resonating with younger fans. At the time of his untimely death in November 2017, Lil Peep was on the cusp of a mainstream breakthrough. He was just 21 years old. And now, to commemorate the birthday of the late burgeoning star, Peep’s estate officially released “Latitude.” The track had been floating around online for over a year, but only as a leak. This streaming release makes it formal.

“Latitude” was one of the first songs Lil Peep recorded. It’s so old that he was still using the name “Trap Goose,” which he changed in 2015 because his mother called him “Peep” as a child. It’s a spacey track, with a laid-back beat and Peep rapping in an equally relaxed flow. The track sounds similar to a lot of what was starting to get noticed online at that time. If you remember the YouTube channel SwagyTracks, it’s reminiscent of a track that would have gotten several million views after being posted there. The hook is catchy, and Lil Peep’s energy (or intentional lack thereof) turns it into a smooth listen, showing a surprising amount of polish for a then-17-year-old. Check out “Latitude,” an early track from a rapper lost way too soon, below.

Quotable Lyrics:

I could give it to you right now, ayy
Watch my hands move, baby it’s me (It’s me)
I’m about to knock your lights out, yeah
Bitch, it’s cold in my own city
You were down with me, used to want the whole scene, hey
I admit I never hated it
We were just some stupid f***ing kids, hated everything

Gang Starr Drops Surprise New Single “Finishem” On Fifth Anniversary Of Final Album

On the fifth anniversary of the duo’s final album, One of the Best Yet, the legendary Gang Starr is back with a single to commemorate the occasion. Since MC Guru’s death in 2010, producer DJ Premier has worked closely with Guru’s family to release the remaining verses in Guru’s collection. The result of that meticulous effort was One of the Best Yet, the first new album under the Gang Starr name since 2003’s The Ownerz. It was an emotional tribute to one of hip-hop’s greatest ever duos, boasting a long list of features as well. Their new song, titled “Finishem,” does not suggest that another posthumous full-length release is on the way, but it is a reminder of just how many songs and verses Guru recorded while he was alive.

“As One of the Best Yet was approaching the five-year anniversary mark, that milestone moved me to create a new track to match the occasion,” Preemo said in a statement first published by Rock The Bells. “The album is special on so many different levels; what it meant to me, Guru’s family, and the fans, it warranted something new to honor the occasion. I started going through files, looking for something that stood out and fit; and as soon as I heard Guru’s hook ‘now I’m about to finish ’em, my rep alone could diminish ’em,’ I knew that was it and went to work crafting a beat for it.” It’s another good track, and Premier and Guru’s family continue to handle posthumous Guru releases with an appropriate amount of respect. Check out the new single from the iconic hip-hop duo below.

Gang Starr – “Finishem”

Quotable Lyrics:

Two men enter, and one must fall
Only one man leaves, only one icon, y’all
This is your final fight, it’s your final night
Your last chance to dance, go ‘head, try your might
When I spit, I’ma show you complete hostility
Hurt you bad just for thinking you’d be as ill as me
Get your face bashed in, a few choppers lost
Get your chest caved in, headpiece, ya need a gauze

Diamond-certified hip-hop icons Future and Travis Scott have officially released the much-anticipated remix of “SOUTH OF FRANCE,” a standout track from Future’s latest album, MIXTAPE PLUTO. This collaboration reunites the long-time friends and musical powerhouses, showcasing their dynamic synergy and significant impact on hip-hop culture.

The buzz around the remix has been growing since Scott teased the track on social media prior to the release of MIXTAPE PLUTO earlier this fall. The original version of “SOUTH OF FRANCE” appeared on Future’s 11th number-one album on the Billboard 200 chart, solidifying his place in music history. Notably, Future achieved a rare milestone by releasing three number-one albums within six months—WE DON’T TRUST YOU and WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU were his previous releases, marking a historic moment as he becomes the first solo artist to achieve this feat, following The Beatles’ accomplishment in the 1960s.

All 17 tracks on MIXTAPE PLUTO debuted on the Billboard Hot 100, further establishing Future as the first hip-hop artist to accomplish such a feat without any featured artists. The collaboration with Scott promises to elevate the already impactful track to new heights.
