Fat Joe Panel Leads Discussion With Vice President Kamala Harris on Criminal Justice Reform, Cannabis and Healthcare

Fat Joe Shares That He's 'One Million Percent' Taking The COVID-19 Vaccine

Bronx-raised rap icon Fat Joe just had a high-level meeting this past Friday with the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris! As TMZ reported, Joe “led a panel regarding criminal justice reform featuring Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and White House Director of the Office of Public Engagement Steve Benjamin,” where he expressed ideas and solutions for important issues in the country.

This seemed more than a photo op. Fat Joe met with VP Harris and spearheaded the conversation with other advocates of criminal justice reform, not to mention a few recipients of marijuana-related pardons. Joe had the Vice President’s audience for about an hour, and he reportedly contributed personal anecdotes from the pardoned in attendance.

TMZ was told Fat Joe expressed gratitude for how his Hip-Hop journey paved the way for a close relationship with the Veep, whom he met through Power To The Patients, his healthcare reform group. Did you know he had that? Joe has been busy in the public reform arena!

Now get this: the report also said Fat Joe could have a private chat with Kamala, and the two dished on transparency regarding healthcare prices and other issues that matter to Joe.

ICYMI, Joe also rapped with President Joe Biden, himself after the State of the Union address, which implies Joe was at the address. Both political parties were clamoring for Joe’s attention trying to score autographs and snap pics. Rightfully so, because Joe has been working the world of politics and advocacy like no other in the world of Hip-Hop, maybe he’s on to something.

Fat Joe And Kamala Harris Got Into The Weeds About Marijuana Reform At A White House Event

Vice President Kamala Harris is on a mission to make penalties for marijuana-related offenses less harsh, and she has now recruited Fat Joe to the cause.

On Friday, March 15, Harris hosted a discussion on the topic at the White House, and it featured Fat Joe and others. As the Associated Press notes, the rapper “moderated a subsequent closed-door discussion that included Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and individuals who received pardons for prior marijuana convictions.”

Harris said during the event, “I cannot emphasize enough that they [Department Of Health And Human Services and Department Of Justice] need to get to it as quickly as possible and we need to have a resolution based on their findings and their assessment. But this issue is stark when one considers the fact that on the schedule currently marijuana is considered as dangerous as heroin,” she said during the public portion of the meeting. Marijuana is considered as dangerous as heroin and more dangerous than fentanyl, which is absurd. Not to mention patently unfair. So I’m sure DEA [Drug Enforcement Administration] is working as quickly as possible and will continue to do so and we look forward to the product of their work.”

As NPR notes, Harris also said plainly, “Nobody should have to go to jail for smoking weed.”

Old Footage Of Kamala Harris And Montel Williams Resurfaces

Footage of Kamala Harris and Montel Williams during their brief 2001 relationship has re-emerged online. The footage shows the couple attending a red carpet-event together. Harris was yet to enter politics and was heading the Family and Children’s Services Division of San Francisco. She would win her first political position, San Francisco DA, in 2004. Meanwhile, Williams was in the midst of the syndicated run of The Montel Williams Show, which would end in 2008.

However, as mentioned, the relationship was a brief one. Harris met her husband, attorney Doug Emhoff, through a mutual friend in 2013. Meanwhile, Williams married American Airlines flight steward Tara Fowler in 2007. In 2020, Williams tweeted that he had “great respect” for Harris as she was named Joe Biden’s running mate for the 2020 election.

Lil Wayne Performs “Mrs. Officer” At Kamala Harris Hip-Hop 50 Event

Meanwhile, Did Lil Wayne shade the Vice President? While performing at Kamala Harris’s Hip-Hop 50 celebration last year, Wayne dropped a performance of “Mrs. Officer”. Peaking at #16 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2008, it’s a beloved piece of Wayne’s catalog. However, is there a deeper meaning to this performance? Obviously, the song is about Wayne getting it on with a female police officer and references N.W.A.‘s “F-ck Tha Police”. But before she was a senator and later VP, Harris had a relationship with law enforcement. She served as both San Francisco DA and California AG. Furthermore, she was widely criticized for her vocal pro-cop stance.

“Hip hop is the ultimate American art form,” Harris said at the event. “Born at a back to school party in the Bronx, raised on the streets of Philadelphia, Chicago, Oakland and Atlanta, hip hop now shapes nearly every aspect of America’s popular culture and it reflects the incredible diversity and ingenuity of the American people. To be clear, hip hop culture is America’s culture. It is music and melody and rhyme. Hip hop is also an ethos of strength and self-determination; of ambition and aspiration; of pride, power and purpose. Hip hop is a declaration of identity. It says I love who I am. I represent where I come from, and I know where I’m going.”

Kamala Harris With A Message For Jess Hilarious

“Jess Hilarious, it’s Kamala Harris,” she begins in a new clip, shared by Charlamagne Tha God on Instagram earlier today. “Congratulations on joining The Breakfast Club, I know you’re gonna be great. Your voice is so important. Have fun with Charlamagne and DJ Envy and thank you all for being just such an important voice for so many reasons.” As expected, the message has viewers split. Tomorrow Morning the @jesshilarious_official era begins,” Charlamagne Tha God captioned the clip.

Joe Biden & Kamala Harris Endorsement Leaves Charlamagne Tha God Regretful

2024 has only just begun, but already, this year’s Presidential Election is weighing heavy on the minds of Americans. Donald Trump critics are working hard to prevent the Republican reality star from landing in the White House again, with multiple states launching campaigns to keep him off the primary ballot (some successful, others not). On the Democratic side of the fence, current POTUS Joe Biden is hitting the trail again as he moves into his mid-80s, much to the disappointment of journalists like Charlamagne Tha God.

During 2020’s election, The Breakfast Club host endorsed Biden and his running mate, Kamala Harris. However, in a recent interview with Politico, Tha God confirmed he won’t make the same decisions this time. “I’ve learned my lesson from doing that. Once they got in the White House, she… kind of disappeared,” he said of the first BIPOC (and first woman) Vice President. According to Charlamagne, people in his life held him accountable when Harris failed to “hold it down” as he had promised them she would.

Charlamagne Tha God Hopes Current POTUS Won’t Run Again

“‘Damn, you told us to vote for [them].’ Do you know how many people say that to me all the time?” he vented to the outlet. As HipHopDX notes, Biden was in hot water after appearing on Charlamagne’s radio show in the year he entered office. At the time, the media mogul raised questions about Democrats taking the Black vote for granted. “You’ve got more questions, but I tell you … if you’ve got a problem whether or not you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t Black,” was the politician’s response.

Charlamagne Tha God isn’t the only public figure speaking out against President Joe Biden, though he may be the one to get his point across most poignantly. As far as our favourite rappers go, Denzel Curry is making his stance on the 84-year-old running in the 2024 election well known, which you can read more about at the link below. Kamala Harris Cheers On Alma Mater Howard At Celebration Bowl

Kamala Harris was spotted in attendance at the Cricket Celebration Bowl, the annual bowl game between SWAC and MEAC champions. This year’s matchup featured Florida A&M and Howard, Harris’ alma mater. Florida A&M entered the matchup with a regular-season record of 11-1. Meanwhile, Howard, who represented the MEAC by virtue of beating their conference co-champions, finished the season at a much more humble 6-5. However, with the Vice President in attendance, it was Howard who struck first. The Bison scored twice in the first quarter before adding a safety to take a 16-10 lead into halftime. The action then picked up in the fourth quarter, which saw 30 points scored. Three Florida A&M touchdowns allowed the Rattlers to win their first Celebration Bowl in their first appearance in the game.

Rattlers running back Kelvin Dean was named offensive MVP thanks to his 97 total yards (87 receiving, 10 rushing) and two receiving touchdowns. Meanwhile, Jeremy Moussa, the Rattlers QB, threw for 289 yards and three touchdowns. Moussa has been with Florida A&M since 2022 after playing at Hawaii and Vanderbilt.

Staffer Fired Over Senate Sex Tape Rumors

Harris’ presence in Atlanta helped her escape a sticky situation for the Democrats back in Washington. Allegations that a congressional staffer filmed a sex tape in a room of the US Senate have gone viral online. The claim was first made by The Daily Caller, a right-wing news outlet founded by Tucker Carlson. The outlet claims to have received video evidence of two men engaging in anal sex in the judiciary committee hearing room. The video was allegedly first “shared in a private group for gay men in politics” before one of the group’s members seemingly leaked it to The Daily Caller.

While The Daily Caller blurred the faces of the two men involved, other right-wing outlets were less discerning. One of the men was reportedly identified as Aidan Maese-Czeropski, an aide to Maryland Senator Ben Cardin. However, Maese-Czeropski has denied any involvement. “This has been a difficult time for me, as I have been attacked for who I love to pursue a political agenda. While some of my actions in the past have shown poor judgement, I love my job and would never disrespect my workplace. Any attempts to characterize my actions otherwise are fabricated and I will be exploring what legal options are available to me in these matters,” Maese-Czeropski wrote on LinkedIn. Despite this, Senator Cardin’s office told Politico that Maese-Czeropski “is no longer employed by the U.S. Senate.”

Quavo Joins Community Justice in Gun Violence Advocacy, Meets Vice President Kamala Harris

IMG 1887

Grammy-nominated artist and philanthropist Quavo stood alongside Community Justice on September 20th in Washington, DC, to advocate for community-driven solutions to combat gun violence. This day of advocacy aimed to raise awareness about the importance of supporting grassroots initiatives for gun violence prevention.

A day later, President Joe Biden made a significant announcement, establishing the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. Vice President Kamala Harris will lead this office, with Greg Jackson, outgoing Executive Director of Community Justice and partner of the Rocket Foundation, serving as Deputy Director.

This initiative is part of a broader effort championed by Community Justice, which views gun violence as a public health crisis. The organization advocates for community-based solutions, offering increased resources and a holistic approach to gun violence prevention.

Quavo’s day in Washington included a meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris and discussions with members of the Congressional Black Caucus and Congressional leadership. A panel discussion on gun violence prevention, part of the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference, was also led by Quavo and Greg Jackson. Throughout the day, they emphasized the importance of funding community-led initiatives, tackling gun violence as a public health risk, and advocating for the passage of the Break the Cycle Of Violence Act.

Quavo has become an influential advocate for gun violence prevention, launching The Rocket Foundation with a commitment of $2 million to invest in community violence intervention following the tragic loss of his nephew, Takeoff, a member of Migos, who was fatally shot during an altercation at a bowling alley.

Community Justice focuses on supporting Black and Brown communities disproportionately affected by gun violence. They promote a public health approach, including community-based violence intervention, coalition building, and proactive policy measures.

With the appointment of Greg Jackson to the new White House office, Community Justice will begin the search for an interim director, while Amber Goodwin and Anthony Smith assume day-to-day leadership responsibilities for the organization.
