Quavo Honors Takeoff With Gun Violence Reduction Initiative In Atlanta

Quavo will always do right by his nephew Takeoff’s memory, and his most recent move is a direct call to avoid tragedies like what took his life in late 2022. Moreover, Billboard reported on Wednesday (March 20) that he launched the Sparks Grants initiative for organizations combating gun violence in Atlanta. The move aims to grant $10,000 to each group focusing on firearm regulation and other initiatives to improve the community’s safety and security, make a legislative impact, and do right by lives lost to senseless loss. The deadline to apply for the grant is April 21 via The Rocket Foundation’s website, which you can find here.

“I am honored to launch this grant program to honor Take and the countless families that have been affected by gun violence,” Quavo shared about this effort via a statement. “The Rocket Foundation will be giving out $100,000 in Spark grants to local organizations dedicated to reducing community violence in Atlanta. There is a lot of important work going on in ATL right now, and part of our mission is to uplift these organizations and support them to help save more lives.”

Elsewhere, Offset recently spoke on his relationship with Quavo, both former members of the Migos. Tensions between them before and after member Takeoff’s death were a big conversation, one that Take’s loss seemed to re-contextualize and heal. “I don’t feel like I owe it to people to show how much me and bro love each other,” he remarked. “We went through something, we don’t have to show you smiles on faces… so stop doing that.

“We ain’t on no sucker s**t with each other,” ‘Set went on, “We both came in this s**t together and we both knew that, we understood that, and we lost our brother. I still go through s**t, I know bro go through s**t. N***as love each other though at the end of the day. We men, we real brothers, and we cool with it, so be cool with it. Don’t ever try and turn us against each other. I hate that s**t. At the end of the day, it ain’t your business.” Furthermore, for more news and the latest updates on Quavo, check back in with HNHH.

Skilla Baby Announces Gun Buy Back Event

“We know the power of joining forces with a city, with influencers, with these icons,” Hannah Jones of the Brady Center told the Detroit Free Press of Skilla Baby’s efforts. “That’s how we got together. But it started with his vision, and he knew, and his folks knew, that we focused on safe storage.” “I know with my influence, I can urge people to clean their records, get jobs and get guns off the street,” the “Morant” lyricist added. “In the future, I want to do gun safety classes, fun stuff like that.”

While being a rapper brings a lot of fun perks, like walking Devin Haney out for a fight, it also brings responsibilities. It’s great to see folks recognizing their influence, their leadership potential, and using that to help those in less fortunate situations. Initiatives like this save lives, and hopefully this inspires more movements in other cities and hip-hop scenes. Quavo Speaks With Congress To Address Gun Violence

Quavo traveled to Washington D.C. on Wednesday to speak with various members of Congress to discuss the prevalence of gun violence in America. “I feel like your calling comes at the least expected times,” Quavo said, as noted by ABC News. “You don’t think nothing is going to happen. I need to step up to the plate and hit a homerun, I have to do something about it, so it won’t happen to the masses — especially in our culture. I don’t want this to happen to the next person, I want to knock down these percentages.”

“We need to do better with the control of guns,” Quavo continued. “We need to figure out how do we keep these types of incidents from happening to people going anywhere and thinking they can hurt somebody where it shouldn’t happen.” He further added: “And how do you keep them out of the hands of people that make bad decisions? I’m kind of in a half-and-half place. Even police have guns. Unfortunately, some of the people in our culture and loved ones have been lost to police brutality. It’s all about choices and how we can put a filter on who can use these guns.” Be on the lookout for further updates on Quavo’s efforts against gun violence on HotNewHipHop.

Freebandz Tray Tray Reportedly Murdered In Chicago

According to reports, Future’s Freebandz artist Tray Tray passed away earlier this week. Though the circumstances surrounding his alleged death remain unclear, chatter online suggests that he was shot, and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The up-and-coming rapper is said to have died in his hometown of Chicago. The tragic news comes as a major disappointment to fans, who have given their condolences across social media.

Tray Tray previously worked alongside notable artists like Young Thug, Tory Lanez, Doe Boy, and more. Countless social media users are weighing in on his passing, noting that he was likely yet another victim of gang violence. Many find it unfortunate that his life was taken before his music blew up. “Condolences to his Family,” one commenter writes. Most recently, Tray Tray dropped a music video for his track “What They On” in January.

Tray Tray Tragically Passes Away

In November of last year, he unveiled a couple of new music videos for “Opp Music” and “Free The Opps.” His crew ended up getting shot at while recording the “Opp Music” video. He later took to social media to share the clip. He discussed the turn of events in an interview with DJUTV that same month, calling it “just another day in the neighborhood.” Luckily, nobody was hit that day.

As for Future, the performer recently got his copyright lawsuit thrown out by a judge, after a man sued him for allegedly using elements from his song. The suit concerned Future’s 2018 Beast Mode 2 track “WHEN I THINK ABOUT IT.” The man, Daquan Robinson, claimed that he had ripped off his own song, “When U Think About It.” In the lawsuit, the man noted thematic similarities between the two songs, like money, guns, and jewelry. The judge, however, cited a few classic hip hop tracks, proving her point that those are common themes within the genre as a whole. Keep an eye on HNHH for more news.
