Coco Jones Welcomes The Holiday Season On Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update

It’s going to be a winter wonderland in a lot of parts of the world soon, and we have just the music to get you in the mood. For the holiday season, we’ve rounded up the best of the best soulful music drops of this week on our R&B Season playlist update. Leading the way with this joyful and chilly time of the year is Coco Jones with her new aptly themed single, “A Timeless Christmas.” That title definitely comes across, as her song is a tender and well-written jam that invokes just as much peace as it does passion through the instrumentation, the vocals, and the optimistic lyrics.

On the other hand, we also have a lot of newer players within R&B for this holiday season update, or artists who’ve been in the game for a while but haven’t gotten to another career peak. For example, the new track “Can’t Forget” from RIMON and Kelz2busy is a woozy and well-contrasted cut, with airy vocals and a dense, cavernous instrumental pallet. In addition, we also highlighted Omarion’s “The Usual,” which is more of a melodic and smooth trap-infused record. Either way you slice it, there’s a lot of talent to dig into in rhythm and blues as we reach the end of 2023.

Furthermore, we also wanted to point you to RAAHiiM’s new album BUT IF iiM HONEST (Deluxe) this R&B Season. These additional tracks add to the project’s cohesive genre blends, and make a pretty sultry and intoxicating complete package. While there are plenty of standout moments here, one cut that we can’t get enough of is the slow-burning “Bodies,” which packs a big punch in a short runtime. This is because of the warm keys, a low-key performance on the mic, and dreamy effects that make the song feel alive.

Meanwhile, we can’t head out without mentioning “40x” by Tink, which displays the rapper’s versatility and shows off her vocal chops. Finally, for the Afrobeat fans out there, Nonso Amadi, Chase Sakur, and Projexx teamed up for the “Foreigner” remix, which will heat you up if you’re feeling cold in these months. Lizzo Steps Out For Beyonce’s “RENAISSANCE” Concert Film Premiere

Beyonce premiered her eagerly-anticipated Renaissance concert film in Beverly Hills last night, and as one would expect, hosted quite the guest list. Stars like Chloe and Halle Bailey, Janelle Monae, Kris Jenner, and more stepped out to support Queen Bey. Lizzo even reemerged for the event, which was hosted at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater. The embattled musician stunned in an all-white getup, rocking a long white skirt and a crop top, which she also complemented with a dramatic matching wrap.

Lizzo’s had quite a year, after being hit with a slew of allegations from former employees. She’s been accused of sexual harassment and bullying, as well as additional misconduct. She made it clear, regardless, that she wouldn’t miss an opportunity to show her love to Beyonce. The Texas-born songstress did, after all, show Lizzo her support amid the allegations.

Following news of the suit, Beyonce brought her iconic Renaissance World Tour to Atlanta, name-dropping her in “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix)” during the show. “Lizzo! I love you, Lizzo!” she shouted at the time. Clearly, Lizzo hasn’t forgotten those who have stood by her side throughout the tough circumstances. Most 11-year-olds can hardly fathom the idea of giving a presentation in front of their middle school class. While Blue Ivy Carter didn’t ask to be born into the spotlight as the eldest child of Jay-Z and Beyonce, she certainly wears it well and even stunned her famous parents by performing alongside the “Single Ladies” hitmaker for the majority of her RENAISSANCE Tour throughout the summer. As you may recall, the tween fell victim to an astounding amount of hate after her first show, with some suggesting Blue’s first time performing in front of 70,000 people somehow could’ve gone better.

In recent weeks, the young girl’s grandmother, Tina Lawson, shared that Carter was only set to join Bey for one show. The newly released concert film echoes these sentiments from the Queen herself, who also shared that her daughter came across the criticism about her dancing online, which was particularly heartbreaking for the Houston native to watch. “She told me she was ready to perform, and I told her no,” Beyonce says in the movie, as per the New York Times.

Dame Dash “Saved” Memphis Bleek, He Claims While Recalling Label Stories

The history of Roc-A-Fella is a long and complicated one, and it hasn’t gotten any easier to navigate as the years draw on. However, we have seen multiple of its key members- whether executives or artists- reflect on some alleged misconceptions on its downfall. That’s not where Dame Dash began his recent breakdown of it, though: he started off on a new episode of The CEO Show by talking about Roc member Memphis Bleek’s career. It started off as an assessment of the rapper’s relevance today, then went into the gossip around all the members’ fallings-out, and then moved to the executive’s claim that he “saved” Bleek from robbery.

“No disrespect to Bleek,” Dame Dash began his statement. “But I don’t feel like he would not want to still be making current records and making a lot of money doing new records. You know, I didn’t want him to be– no disrespect, but no one wants to be on the ‘Oldies but Goodies Tour.’ You want to be known for new s**t.” Then, he started to push back on Memphis Bleek’s explanation of how the Roc fell.

“The misconception about Roc-A-Fella is they kicked me out; I left,” Dame Dash claimed. “When ‘Change Clothes’ came out, I had already had an office at Rocawear. I had retired from Roc-A-Fella long before this so called split.” Furthermore, he used Memphis Bleek as an example of him pushing the Roc’s affiliates to take care of themselves, not their higher-ups.

“People close to him were taking his publishing,” he went on. “When he was signing his record deal, someone had his– he was signed to a production deal. And, I’m not going to say nobody’s name. I’ll let them deal with that. He talks about it. All his publishing was getting taken. They were getting a piece of his royalty. He was getting robbed. So, I went and got him a lawyer. She also allegedly just had a run-in with YB’s ex-girlfriend Arabian, which could have added to the bad taste in her mouth. The rumored altercation took place earlier this month, according to reports, and Kayla took to Instagram Live to vent about it shortly after.

Before that, the 26-year-old posted up on Twitter, proudly showing off her clear, glowing skin in a “fresh face” selfie. Rose is typically nearly nude in her social media posts, but for her recent flight, she rocked a distressed grey jumpsuit with a super strappy back and a white beanie. It’s likely the black-haired beauty was on her way to a concert while on her flight, but when it came time for her to perform, she didn’t hesitate to show a lot more skin.

Diddy Called “The Devil” By Former Assistant

A former assistant of Diddy’s has called Diddy “the devil”. Ms. Capricorn Clark made the claim in a post to her private Twitter account. “Black women end up being the sacrifice for the f-ckery. Last 11 years of my life, I have had to deal with EVERYONES nonsensical allegiance to the devil. I pray that ends. I don’t think highly of any of you. Can’t keep your head down + pretend sh-t is cool no more. Do better,” Clark wrote.

The statement comes days after Diddy was hit with a third lawsuit of sexual assault. In the suit, the anonymous woman claims she went on a date with Diddy in 1991 while attending Syracuse. However, she alleges that Diddy drugged her during dinner, before filming them while he raped her. Furthermore, she claims that she was later made aware that the video of the assault had been shown to and viewed by multiple people. The wave of allegations against Diddy has come after his former long-time partner Cassie released a series of horrific allegations against him in her own suit.

Furthermore, Diddy’s former protégé, Aubrey O’Day, has made shocking claims of her own. “I got fired 4 being ‘promiscuous’ on national TV. Not only false, but y’all know now that man loves promiscuity. So why did I really get fired? Y’all already know. And as talented as I was, the only job opportunity I was offered after was the cover of Playboy. ALL part of grooming,” O’Day said on X, formerly Twitter. At the time of writing, three women have come forward with allegations about Diddy. Some of these allegations date back to the 1990s.

Furthermore, O’Day hinted at there being more victims who weren’t able to come forward. “Not everyone that was assaulted, abused, or harassed was able to make that deadline safely with proper protections in place. The couple was seen partying in Dubai along with Chris Brown and other close friends this past week. Currently, one video of Breezy and Yeezy seems to be garnering some seriously negative reactions online.

As Page Six reports, Jewish businesswoman Tanya Zuckerbrot shared a video of the musical duo dancing to “Vultures” on Instagram, questioning why they found so much humour in Ye’s troubling lyrics. “What’s more sickening? The lyrics … Or the fact that both Kanye West and @chrisbrownofficial find it [hilarious]?” she wrote in a post on Saturday (November 25), which has since been flooded with comments from her community, the majority of whom are also condemning the multi-talent’s behaviour.

Meanwhile, new photos published by Page Six appear to show Diddy looking downcast and lost in thought at his Miami home. The images were captured over the Thanksgiving weekend. Diddy appeared to spend the holiday with three of his children, his mother, and the mother of one of his daughters. Furthermore, the images were published just a few days after the Bad Boy Records founder was hit with a third sexual assault lawsuit. Like the other two, the suit was filed under New York’s Adult Survivor Act.
