Beyoncé “Act II: Cowboy Carter”: 5 Things We Want

Act II: Cowboy Carter, the title of the new album by Beyonce was recently revealed on the superstar’s website. The new era to follow Renaissance is almost fully upon us, as the project is expected to be released on March 29, 2024. Beyonce nearly broke the internet when she announced the album’s first two singles in her iconic Verizon ad. Since then, “Texas Hold ‘Em” has reached number one on the Hot 100 chart and became a viral hit on social media.

Fans are beyond ready for this country album, and the reception of the lead singles proves it. Beyonce has already given us a taste of what to expect from Cowboy Carter with “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages.” However, there are a few other things we hope to accompany the highly anticipated album. While we may not be able to enforce these terms on Queen Bey, we can certainly dream.

A Dolly Parton Feature

During a recent interview with Knox News, country icon Dolly Parton was asked if Beyonce had recorded any covers of her music before. “Well, I think she has,” Parton answered, to the delight of fans everywhere. “I think she’s recorded ‘Jolene’ and I think it’s probably gonna be on her country album, which I’m very excited about that,” she concluded. Admittedly, Ms. Parton only subtly revealed that Beyoncé’s cover could appear on the album. However, there’s a chance the track, if it exists, could feature Dolly Parton herself, which would be phenomenal. If there are guest appearances on Cowboy Carter, Beyonce, we want Dolly Parton to be one. Just imagine how iconic it would be!

Blue Ivy Carter

Over the years, the Beyhive has witnessed Blue Ivy’s growth, and they are almost as proud of her as her actual parents. Once dubbed the most famous baby in the world, she is now a 12-year-old Grammy Award winner. Additionally, her appearance on Jay-Z’s “Glory” when she was just two days old earned her a Guinness World Record. Blue Ivy appeared on “Brown Skin Girl” with her mother in 2019. Also, the Beyhive saw a lot of her in 2023 throughout the Renaissance World Tour. However, we would love to see her make an appearance on another Beyonce track, preferably on Cowboy Carter. Evidently, she has been honing her craft behind the scenes. It would be lovely to hear how her voice has matured since “Brown Skin Girl.”

Genre Fusion

Beyonce has never been one to shy away from experimentation, and we expect nothing less from Cowboy Carter. Throughout her career, she has consistently pushed musical boundaries, and it’s always paid off. Cowboy Carter is an album that will be heavily influenced by country music. However, knowing Beyoncé, she will bring her twist to it, and that’s exactly what we want. While paying homage to the roots of the genre, we believe Queen Bey will also be able to push the envelope yet again on this album.

Music Videos (please?)

Throughout the Renaissance era, Beyoncé did not release any music videos. That was a huge contrast to her last album, Lemonade, which had a video for each song. For Renaissance, the closest fans got to visuals was the documentary film. However, for Cowboy Carter, we want music videos. Pretty please. As a matter of fact, we won’t be greedy and ask for a music video for each song. Just please, give us visuals this time, Bey.

Another World Tour

Undeniably, the Renaissance World Tour in 2023 remains one of the most iconic things to happen in recent music history. Some have even called the experience life-changing, and that’s no surprise at all. Beyoncé went all out with it like we know she would again if she organizes a tour for Cowboy Carter. If anybody can surpass the excellence and spectacle that was the RWT, it is certainly Beyoncé herself. While she would have her work cut out for her, Queen Bey has never been one to disappoint. We do hope she expands to more locations this time though. Hive members in many more countries around the world would love an opportunity to see her live as well.

Taylor Swift And Beyoncé’s Concert Films Were Behind Not Just A Lot, But ‘Literally, All’ Of AMC’s Q4 Earnings Increase

Move over Mission Impossible. If anyone needed even more confirmation that pop stars saved movie theaters in 2023, AMC Theaters revealed just how thankful they were for Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour and Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour being released as films through unique deals with their chain.

Both Beyoncé and Swift distributed their concert films directly through AMC, even before working with any studios or streaming platforms.

“What is particularly noteworthy is how much AMC benefited from our trailblazing industry leading efforts with our highly successful distribution of two concert movies Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour and Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé,” AMC’s CEO Adam Aron shared with Deadline. He also noted, “Literally, all of that increase in AMC’s Revenue and EBITDA is attributable to our having shown these two movies in our theatres in the U.S. and internationally.”

By their two movies alone, their fourth-quarter earnings rose by 11%, providing the theater company with $1.1 billion in revenue. This was way higher than what Wall Street had apparently initially projected for AMC.

“This is a stunning result given that neither of these films were on anyone’s drawing board until mid-year, and that they were the first movies ever distributed by AMC in our entire 103-year history,” Aron said.

“To that end, our praise for Taylor Swift and Beyoncé Knowles Carter has no limit, and we offer our boundless thanks to these two world class artists for entrusting AMC to collaborate with them as to the theatrical exhibition of their two masterpiece creations,” he added.

Beyonce Shares A Teaser For Her New Haircare Line “Cecred”

Fans are hoping that the break between Renaissance and Beyonce’s next album won’t be anything like the break between it and its 2016 predecessor Lemonade. Many are still holding out for visuals from the album after a video leaked online earlier this week. The video was green screen footage of what looks like the singer recording some kind of music video or visuals of something. So when she shared a new announcement video for something else entirely fans were let down at first but ultimately intrigued.

In the video Bey shared, it cuts together people doing a variety of haircare with what looks like recordings of home movies. It isn’t even entirely clear what the products specifically are. The caption doesn’t prove particularly helpful. “Hair is sacred. The journey begins Feb 20. Visit CECRED.COM” the caption reads. Though specifics aren’t included fans have speculated that it could include anything from shampoo and conditioner or even some kind of dyes. But many of the comments are more focused on what Beyonce isn’t announcing than what she is. Check out the trailer below.

Beyonce Drops A Teaser For Her Haircare Line

In the comments, fans seem disappointment. “ima just assume the live album is inside the box of shampoo” one of the top comments on the post reads. “So what are you gonna say at my funeral now that you’ve killed me?” another, more dramatic fan agrees. Clearly many watching the video were hoping for a more musical announcement from Bey.

Beyonce had a few notable moments at the Grammys over the weekend. There were rumors that she might perform during the show and even do a tribute to Tina Turner, but that ultimately didn’t happen. When Jay-Z went on-stage to accept his Global Impact Award he called out the Grammys directly. In one particular moment he pointed out that despite being the winningest artist of all time, Bey has never won the Album Of The Year Award. What do you think of Beyonce’s announcement of a haircare line? Do you agree with fans who were hoping for Bey to announce visuals or new music? Let us know in the comment section below.

Beyoncé Announced Her Cécred Line Of Hair Care Products With A Cryptic Trailer

Beyoncé has something special up her sleeve. No, it doesn’t look like the long-awaited visuals for her Renaissance album. But perhaps something just as sacred. Or shall we say, “Cécred?”

Tonight (February 6), Bey took to social media to announce her new line of haircare products, called Cécred. As Bey is known to do, she kept very mum about what to expect. A video shared to Instagram shows a montage of people washing, combing, and brushing their hair. Though we’re not sure what kinds of products to expect — in the way of shampoos, conditioners, and/or dyes — Bey did reveal that Cécred is, in fact, a hair care line, simply by captioning the post, “Hair is sacred.”

Also in the post’s caption, she revealed Cécred arrives Feb. 20, and tagged the handle to the brand’s official Instagram account. On Cécred’s Instagram page is a bio reading “Haircare by @beyonce,” as well as the brand’s official website.

The website plays the same video from the social handles, however, invites visitors to enter their email address and phone numbers to receive updates.

At the time of writing, neither Bey nor Cécred have indicated if the products will be available to purchase in stores.

Fans Beg Beyonce To Release “RENAISSANCE” Visuals After Footage Leak

Fans are begging Beyonce to release visuals accompanying her RENAISSANCE album after footage of the singer filming in a green screen suit was released online. The BTS footage shows Beyonce wearing a bodysuit and a large coat decked in a shade of green reserved for post-production editing. Also known as a green screen, visuals can then be easily applied over the green material.

Fans were absolutely gagging for the full footage to be released. Begging the singer on social media to drop the full edited visuals. “RANDOM AF 2 YEARS LATER LIKE HELP MEEE WE WERE GETTING A MASTERPIECE😭😭😭😭😭,” the original poster of the footage wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “beyoncé i wanna see this and the rest of the renaissance visuals on youtube by the end of February,” added another fan.

Beyonce & Megan Thee Stallion Perform In Houston

2023 really was the year of Beyonce, with her RENAISSANCE tour being one of the cultural events of the year. Of course, that included an electrifying performance in her hometown of Houston. However, she wasn’t alone. Fellow Houston songstress Megan The Stallion joined Beyonce on stage during the September 23 show at NRG Stadium. The two musical powerhouses performed together, with Megan rocking a camo bodysuit. Megan flexed her twerking prowess before giving her co-star a hearty “I love you Beyonce!” during an ad-lib exchange. The crowd at NRG Stadium went absolutely wild for the pair. They were bathed in an intense red light during most of their performance. “I was there. And the stadium was shaking. The energy was insane. Houston you WIN ❤🙌,” one fan wrote on social media.

However, Megan’s appearance won’t come as a surprise to many eagle-eyed fans. The weekend before the show, it was reported that Megan had pulled out of the Global Citizen Fest in New York, which also took place on September 23. Internet sleuths put the pieces together and reasoned that Megan had likely received an offer to guest with Beyonce in their shared hometown. This was confirmed in the run-up to the show when sources told various outlets that Megan had chosen to perform with Beyonce instead.

Beyonce Fans Underwhelmed With Newest “Renaissance” Announcement

International fans of mega-star Beyonce were pretty disappointed by her newest announcement and it’s easy to see why. Earlier this year she wrapped up her Renaissance tour which followed her return album of the same name. The series of shows was an absolutely massive affair that grabbed headlines almost every night. As you’d expect, it resulted in a highly successful concert film which hit theaters earlier this month.

The Renaissance tour film is off to a hot start and has already climbed into the top 5 highest-grossing concert movies of all time in just a few weeks. But when Beyonce’s website recently went down followed by a social media post claiming that the “Renaissance” era wasn’t done yet, fans were excited. In particular, international fans were hyped when she shared a list of countries around the world including places like Brazil, Italy, Japan, and South Korea. Many fans justifiably expected that she was announcing tour dates in all of those countries but the official announcement turned out to be something else entirely. Check out the post she made below.

Beyonce’s Announcement Let Fans Down

The actual announcement had to do with Beyonce’s record-breaking concert film. She confirmed that it was coming to theaters in all of those countries. The announcement likely would have excited fans on its own. But after they got their expectations raised with the tease of a potential international extension to her tour, the film announcement was a let down. Subsequently, fans in the Instagram comments of the post expressed their disappointment. Mainly they shared the plans they were already cooking up to see Bey perform. But those plans now turned out to be pointless.

Amid the massive success of Renaissance, Beyonce is about to hit a personal milestone. The era has clearly been lucrative for her as reports claim she’s honing in on billionaire status. What do you think of Beyonce teasing various cities around the world only to announce it was just for screenings of her concert film? Let us know in the comment section below.

Beyonce’s “Renaissance” Movie Is One Of The Biggest Concert Films Ever

Everything Beyonce does is larger than life, so why would her recently released concert film be any different? Last year she took a big swing with the house and dance-themed album Renaissance. The project was her first since 2016’s Lemonade and turned out to be a smash success with both fans and critics. So earlier this year when it came time to embark on the Renaissance tour she similarly did it big. At shows across Europe and North America, she unpacked some of her biggest hits to adoring crowds.

With the concerts grabbing headline news nearly every night it’s no surprise that Beyonce captured the glory of it all on film. That eventually became the Renaissance concert film which released in theaters earlier this week. Unsurprisingly, the film soared to impressive box office numbers right away. According to HipHopDX despite being out for just half a month, it’s already landed among the top 5 concert films of all time. Her $30 million at the US box office places her alongside Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Michael Jackson, and Miley Cyrus in the top 5.

Beyonce’s “Renaissance” Film Numbers

It’s no surprise that the film is doing so well after the start it got off to. The film had the biggest December opening weekend of any film in the past 20 years. It came just a few weeks after a different concert film achieved similar success. Much like Beyonce’s Renaissance tour, Taylor Swift’s Eras tour dominated headlines all year.

Taylor’s concert film came out a few weeks before Bey’s and also reached astounding levels of success. Both films had smash premiers that saw them completely taking over the box office from conventional movies. After its first month at the box office had wrapped up she surpassed Justin Bieber to score the highest-grossing concert film of all time. What do you think of Beyonce’s Renaissance film cracking the top 5 highest-grossing concert films of all time in just a few weeks? Let us know in the comment section below.

The Queer Artists That Helped Shape Beyonce’s ‘Renaissance’ Tour

Beyonce

At the beginning of Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé, the legendary entertainer is seen opening up the stage for one of her Inglewood shows, which took place on her birthday. During her remarks, Beyoncé hammers home that the world encapsulated within the various arenas during the Renaissance World Tour is a free universe, where each audience member is encouraged to express themselves.

“I’m thankful to be able to provide a safe space for all of y’all,” she says to a cheering audience, dressed to the nines in their flashy, glimmering outfits. Throughout the nearly three-hour-long concert film, which doubles as a documentary, fans get a look at the hard work that went into the tour — which, in and of itself, took four years of planning. The Beyhive also learns more about Bey’s childhood with her late Uncle Jonny, who inspired the Renaissance era, and her concerted efforts to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and ballroom culture.

In the liner notes of Beyoncé’s Renaissance album, Bey offers a dedication to the openly gay Jonny. “He was my godmother and the first person to expose me to a lot of the music and culture that serve as an inspiration for this album. The album itself features many samples from the ballroom era, as Bey breathes new life into these underground classics that served as an escape for Jonny and the queer community. This is especially true of “Pure/Honey,” a song from the album that features a prominent sample of “C*nty” by Kevin Aviance. While “C*nty” was a hit in the late ‘90s within the ballroom scene, Aviance says he felt he didn’t get his 10s during that time.

“I found myself doing more Club Kid stuff in downtown New York City,” says Aviance. “Hosting parties, and stuff like that.”

Aviance says he found out that Bey used the “C*nty” sample at the same time everyone else did, and remembers a feeling of pure elation as he arrived to the 15th track on Renaissance.

“I mean, someone taking my baby and revamping her and making her feel c*nty again — it was incredible,” says Aviance. “The song never let me down in any way, shape, or form. I’ve never stop performing it. So it’s just one of the things that is such a staple in our community. It means a lot to a lot of people, and it was so nice to see that it meant something to Beyoncé.”

Over the course of the Renaissance World Tour, Aviance hosted drag shows and after-parties in various cities. As a ballroom figure and former Club Kid, Aviance says he’s found himself “in and out” of his career. But since Bey breathed new life into “C*nty” through Renaissance, he has been nabbing gigs left and right, and says he’s currently booked until July 2024.

“I’m in limbo a lot sometimes,” says Aviance, “but I’m always working and something happens, and with this, people started going back to my catalog, and were visiting my shows. I’m still riding that high.”

Producer and mash-up DJ Amorphous is also experiencing a new breakthrough during the Renaissance era. The 25-year-old artist known for his viral mash-ups earned a spot on the tour’s musical arrangement team — a connection he had been manifesting for six years.

Back in 2017, Amorphous went viral after dropping an album he made featuring Beyoncé and Jay-Z mashups. One of the mixes caught wind of the husband-wife duo and was used during their joint On The Run II Tour in 2018. Amorphous made this discovery after seeing a video clip of dancers rehearsing with the mashup playing in the background.

“I remember freaking out about that, because I’m like, ‘Oh, my God, so that must mean that she knows who I am,’’ says Amorphous. Though a working relationship wouldn’t come to fruition for another five years, Bey kept Amorphous inspired.

When Renaissance dropped in 2022, Amorphous released a mashup featuring the album’s “Plastic Off The Sofa” and Solange’s “Cranes In The Sky.” Bey later used the clip in one of her Instagram reels. “So then. I really knew like, ‘Okay, she absolutely has to know who I am.”

Though he’s not sure how his role on the tour came to fruition, he remembers someone from Bey’s team hitting him up to join them on tour.

Amorphous’ passion for music production dates back over a decade, when he discovered the transcendental sounds of queer, ballroom-inspired artists like LSDXOXO, Cakes Da Killa, and MikeQ. A then self-described “preppy, quaker school student,” Amorphous would get lost in this music, and he would once again gravitate toward these sounds when creating his mix for the Renaissance World Tour.

His time on the tour came as a full circle moment, but also as a pleasant indicator of what’s to come.

“As a queer artists, I’d look back to the little version of me that didn’t want to be here anymore,” says Amorphous. “I was struggling coming to terms with my sexuality or my identity, and I would sit in at the computer while my friends would go out during recess, or when my cousins were over to play video games, I would be on the computer creating and honing in my craft, whether that was music or film. So to have that translate through the joy of just creating to being able to work directly with Beyoncé, to being credited in my first Hollywood film, it’s a weird place to be in. Because you look back at those moments of self-doubt, when you were asking yourself ‘Do you want to come out? Do you want to be yourself? And I’m just so proud that I’ve stuck to that. And it’s something that I want to continue to stick with in the future.”

This likely won’t be Amorphous’ first go-around with Queen Bey, as she tends to keep her collaborators close, like family.

This is the case with dancer and choreographer Jonte Moaning, who has been working with Beyoncé since The Beyoncé Experience Tour in 2007. He’s also choreographed several of her videos, including “Freakum Dress” and “Single Ladies.” In the Renaissance film, viewers will immediately notice Moaning’s impeccable moves, as well as his vibrant hair pieces and colorful makeup. Having worked with Bey for nearly two decades, Moaning has become familiar with all the moving parts of a Beyoncé-level production.

“I also work with wardrobe. I work with hair, and I work with the technicians,” says Moaning. “I need to know everything that’s happening. I need to know the whole body in order for me to be my best self. You know what I mean? Because when I walk in, I want to make sure that everybody knows that they’re respected.”

Originally from Portland, Moaning recalls moving to New York City in the early 2000s during the Club Kid era, quickly becoming “a spectator of the world of ballroom.” Keeping his finger on the pulse of the world of dance, Moaning has kept his momentum amid rapidly changing dance trends and platforms.

Moaning was discovered by Beyoncé during the dawn of YouTube, on which Moaning created his dance channel shortly after the video-sharing service’s launch. YouTube launched just over a year after Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake’s 2004 controversial Super Bowl Halftime performance, for which, Moaning was also a dancer.

Moaning has often displayed his confidence through his moves and his fashion, remaining unapologetically queer, and defying gender norms by design. “Even in places where you would be very uncomfortable to walk around,” Moaning says, he found community within Beyoncé’s team, and with the Beyhive. One of his fondest memories of the tour surprisingly came from a stop in Kentucky.

“Kentucky was like so dry,” Moaning says. “I looked outside of my f*cking hotel window and I saw, like, dust bunnies rolling down the street. It was desolate, there was nothing there. But that day, I went out to get a new hairpiece for the show, and there was this small boutique that had trinkets and cute dresses, and it was full of people who were getting ready to go to that show the next day. When we performed there were like, 60,000 people there, and they were all decked out, ready to go.”

Throughout the Renaissance film, we see that Beyoncé does not cut a single corner. With an internal team comprised of over 400 people — the best lighting crew, the best make-up artists, the best costume designers, and more — Beyoncé spotlights the community that delivered the show, as well as honoring the communities that came before her and inspired the entire Renaissance era.

“Can you imagine doing a world tour with over 400 people traveling with them every single day?” says Moaning. “Every single day, I stepped into the stadium and said hello to 400 different people. When you travel with so many different groups of people, you get to see so many different types of individuals, and you learn to work with them, and we become family.”

Beyonce Nearing Billionaire Mark Amid “Renaissance” Success

Beyonce’s net worth has rocketed up from $300 million to $800 million, this year, following her massively successful Renaissance World Tour as well as its accompanying concert film. According to Forbes, she ranked as the 48th richest self-made woman in the world back in June, when her net worth was only listed at $540 million. Had she been at her current figure then, she would’ve come in at No. 30.

The Renaissance World Tour brought in $100 million after taxes alone, while her music catalog is now worth approximately $300 million. Additionally, she and JAY-Z both own a real estate portfolio that is estimated to be worth $320 million. The couple also have various other personal assets as well as business holdings in the Parkwood Entertainment company.

Her exact takeaway after taxes from Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé is unclear, but the movie brought in $27 million worldwide at the box office in its opening week. Afterward, Beyonce thanked her fans for their support in a candid post on Instagram. “I am so deeply thankful to AMC and every team member who worked so hard on this film,” Beyonce began. “I just can’t thank all of you enough for your support. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done because of the short turn around time. I practically slept in the edit, color, and mix sessions. The race against time continued in order to get this film out so quickly. But it was so worth all the grind. I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from my Hive. And WOW! I am so touched and encouraged by the incredible reviews!!!”

She continued: “While I’m often critical and feel my art is never finished, the pendulum swings. I feel gratitude. ‘We did it.’ We have the #1 movie in the country! And a [100 emoji] on Rotten Tomatoes. And it’s because of you and your support! I humbly thank you.” Be on the lookout for further updates on Beyonce on HotNewHipHop.

Beyonce’s “RENAISSANCE” Visuals “Copy” Hajime Sorayama’s Artwork, He Suggests

When Beyonce’s RENAISSANCE album arrived on the scene in the summer of 2022, it provided a much-needed shakeup that the industry was waiting for. The disco-infused project was mostly well-received, though a few artists took issue with samples of their work appearing throughout the Houston native’s songs, including Kelis. Queen B responded to the hate by taking out the “Milkshake” interpolation, but we’re curious to see how she’ll respond to Hajime Sorayama’s recent Instagram post about her “ALIEN SUPERSTAR”-esque looks on her tour that is notably similar to his past artwork.

On Monday (December 10), the renowned artist’s social media lit up with a post comparing one of her most futuristic looks to some of his designs. “Yo @beyonce 🤘 You should have asked me ‘officially’ so that I could make much better work for you as like my man @theweeknd ✊,” Sorayama wrote in his caption. Within the past 24 hours, the comment section has flooded with people criticizing the Japanese artist for seemingly trying to take credit for a style that he didn’t necessarily create.

Hajime Sorayama Calls Out Beyonce

“Like you didn’t take direct inspiration from ‘Metropolis’?” one person asked, referencing the 1927 film. As TMZ reports, Sorayama previously connected with The Weeknd to create some art for his record-breaking tour, and was seemingly hoping for Bey to approach with a similar opportunity. It’s unclear if he plans to take legal action or is harbouring negative feelings toward the “Halo” hitmaker, but we’re curious to see how she’ll respond to her fellow creative, if at all.

Based on the latest numbers coming in from the box office, it looks like most of the BeyHive has already made their way to check out the RENAISSANCE concert film. The music-filled experience has now dropped down from the top spot, with an astounding 75% decrease in sales. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.
