Lil Durk Was Left Off Of Kanye West’s Upcoming Album Because Of A Missed Flight

Kanye West fans were excited this week by sparse footage emerging from a recent listening event for his new album during which he revealed some of the guests for the album. According to attendees and one clip that surfaced on Twitter and Instagram, the features include usual Kanye collaborators like Travis Scott and Ty Dolla Sign and newcomers like Baby Keem in addition to the previously rumored Tyler The Creator.

However, one name fans won’t find on that list is Lil Durk, who was apparently invited to the recording sessions but was unable to attend — at least, that’s the inference from Durk’s comment on a post about the listening sessions on Instagram. Replying to a post featuring a screenshot of comedian Justin LaBoy’s recap tweet of the event, Durk expressed his regretful reason for not being on the album: “I missed the jet.” However, he also expressed hope for the future, writing, “Well next album.”

Durk, who looked up to Kanye as a fellow Chicagoan, paid homage to the hometown hero in the video for “Kanye Krazy” from his recent album The Voice, recreating some of Kanye’s own videos like “I Love It” and “Bound 2.” Meanwhile, fans who missed out on the Las Vegas listening event will get another chance at it, provided they can get to Atlanta by Thursday. He’s holding another event there at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, but he has yet to announce a new release date after pushing it back multiple times.

Lil Durk And His Girlfriend Reportedly Exchanged Gunfire With Intruders Who Broke Into Their Atlanta Home

Lil Durk has unfortunately experienced an unusual amount of tragedies over the last year and he was nearly involved in another one as a report from TMZ revealed on Thursday. The rapper’s Georgia home, which he resides in with his girlfriend India Cox, was reportedly broken into by multiple unidentified individuals early Sunday morning.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the break-in quickly led to a shootout that saw the intruders as well as Durk and Cox exchange gunfire. Officials were unable to determine how many people broke into the rapper’s home and they’re seeking help from the public to investigate the home invasion.

XXL was also able to obtain documents that confirm Durk and Cox were listed as victims in the incident and were not injured in the matter. The home invasion and shooting occurred a month after Durk’s brother, DThang, was shot and killed outside of Club O, a strip club in Harvey, Illinois, a city south of their hometown of Chicago. This came after King Von, a rapper Durk often referred to as has “twin,” died as a result of a club shooting in Atlanta back in November 2020.

In more positive news, Durk received his first No. 1 album last month thanks to the release of Voice Of The Heroes, his joint album with Lil Baby. The 18-track effort came attached with guest appearances from Travis Scott, Young Thug, Meek Mill, and Rod Wave.

Lil Baby And Lil Durk Hit The Club In Their Debauched ‘Man Of My Word’ Video

Lil Baby and Lil Durk’s joint album https://qualitycontrol.lnk.to/TheVoiceoftheHeroes” target=”_blank” title=””>The Voice Of The Heroes debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, and the dynamic duo is keeping that momentum going into the upcoming autumn touring season with their Back Outside Tour kicking off this September. In addition to that announcement, they’ve opted to share another music video from the album to keep anticipation (and streaming numbers) high, taking over the club in their video for “Man Of My Word.”

The video features all of the two rappers’ favorite things: Fast cars, gigantic stacks of money, and women — this time in the form of the dancers at the gentleman’s club in which the video is set as they make it rain. Meanwhile, the debauchery is intercut with scenes of CGI cars racing through the nighttime streets.

Even as Baby and Durk continue to promote their joint album, they’ve both kept busy on the solo end, as well. Durk recently featured on Polo G’s “No Return” from the young Chicagoan’s third album Hall Of Fame and on the F9 soundtrack single “Fast Lane” with Don Toliver and Latto, while Baby popped up on a soundtrack of his own, offering the Space Jam sequel “We Win” with Kirk Franklin. Among the things he’s won: ASCAP’s 2021 Songwriter Of The Year.
