Trippie Redd Said He Didn’t Realize Drake Was Dissing Kanye On ‘Betrayal’

Unwittingly, Trippie Redd became involved with one of the longest cold wars in hip-hop — the one that continually flares up between Drake and Kanye. With Kanye gearing up to released his ever-evolving Donda project (which he now claims was put out without his approval), and Drake’s long-awaited Certified Lover Boy finally on the horizon, these two have reason to be going at each other again as they vie for the top spot in the genre. Meanwhile, Trippie was just stoked to release his latest album, Trip At Knight with a Drake feature on it.

When the song in question, “Betrayal,” dropped with Drizzy rapping: “All these fools I’m beefin’ that I barely know / Forty-five, forty-four (Burned out), let it go,” he raps, which probably references Kanye’s age of 44, though his other GOOD Music rival, Pusha T, is also 44 years old. “Ye ain’t changin’ shi*t for me, it’s set in stone / Rollin’ stones, heavy stones (PinkGrillz) / Precious stone, let me make my presence known.”

Trippie, however, was completely in the dark as to the significance of the bars. “I thought he was talking about a strap or something, forty-five, forty-four,” he told 92.3 Real in an interview. “I didn’t know what he was talking about. It is what it is.”

Trippie Redd Burns Rubber Under The Night Sky In His Video For ‘Supernatural’

After a bit of a wait, Trippie Redd dropped his fourth album, Trip At Knight, last weekend, which featured the likes of Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti, Juice WRLD, Lil Durk, Polo G, SoFaygo, Ski Mask The Slump God, XXXTentacion, BabyFace Ray, Sada Baby, and Icewear Vezzo. Now he’s released the video for one of its tracks, “Supernatural.”

It finds Trippie and by his crew at a late-night gathering. The rapper and his friends take over a parking lot, with cars doing donuts and high-precision drifts.

The release of Trip At Knight didn’t come without some drama. On “Betrayal,” guest Drake used his guest verse to seemingly diss Kanye West, with whom he’s been feuding for quite some time. “All these fools I’m beefin’ that I barely know / Forty-five, forty-four (Burned out), let it go,” Drake raps. “Ye ain’t changin’ shi*t for me, it’s set in stone / Rollin’ stones, heavy stones (PinkGrillz) / Precious stone, let me make my presence known.” The apparent re-emergence of their beef delighted Rick Ross, who said, “I love it.”

Drake Seemingly Dissed Kanye West On A New Verse And Fans Are Reacting

It’s been three years since Drake and Pusha-T’s beef reached its tipping point, with the rappers’ respective releases of “Duppy Freestyle” and “The Story Of Adidon.” While Drake certainly took issue with Pusha for his comments, the Toronto rapper has also cited problems with Kanye West. And since then the two have yet to see eye-to-eye. He seemed to address Kanye in his guest verse on Trippie Redd‘s “Betrayal,” the first collaboration between the two rappers, from Trippie’s new album Trip At Knight.

Drake seems to take a shot at Kanye in the song. “All these fools I’m beefin’ that I barely know / Forty-five, forty-four (Burned out), let it go,” he raps, which could be a reference to Kanye’s current age of 44. (Pusha T is coincidentally also 44 years old.) “Ye ain’t changin’ shi*t for me, it’s set in stone / Rollin’ stones, heavy stones (PinkGrillz) / Precious stone, let me make my presence known.”

It’s unclear exactly what Drake believes Kanye won’t change for him, but it could be a reference to his long-awaited Certified Lover Boy, as some believe Kanye is delaying the release of his tenth album Donda in order to share a release date with Drake.

Trippie Redd Mows Down Zombies With An ‘MP5’ Alongside SoFaygo In His Latest ‘Trip At Knight’ Video

Trippie Redd’s new video, “MP5,” opens with a jump scare, then gets right into some video-game-inspired, zombie-killing action. After dispatching one revenant with the titular hardware, Trippie and guest rapper SoFaygo enter The Matrix to blast waves of the undead outside of what looks to be a prison. Not-so-subtle pop culture references aside, the effects are pretty impressive for the form and the song itself is a high-energy, synth-heavy banger, displaying Trippie’s gift for catchy warbling and allowing SoFaygo to show off his chattering flow.

“MP5” is the latest video from Trippie’s new album Trip At Knight, which dropped today via 1400 Entertainment and 10K Projects after a few months of teasing with singles like “Miss The Rage” featuring Playboi Carti, “Holy Smokes” with Lil Uzi Vert, and “Rich MF” featuring Polo G and Lil Durk. The project is the SoundCloud rap pioneer’s fourth in as many years, as well as his second release of 2021 after February’s Neon Shark Vs. Pegasus, the punk-influenced deluxe edition to 2020’s Pegasus co-produced by Travis Barker. Other features on Trip At Knight include two late friends of Trippie’s, Juice WRLD and XXXTentacion, as well as thrash rapper and fellow SoundCloud alum Ski Mask the Slump God. Trippie will be going on tour behind the album beginning this week.

Watch Trippie Redd And Lil Uzi Vert Take Over An Arcade In The ‘Holy Smokes’ Video

Trippie Redd is getting back in album gear, and today he’s dropped a video for “Holy Smokes,” the second new song off his forthcoming record, Trip At Knight (get it?). On the track, he’s teaming up with Lil Uzi Vert, who has been in hot water lately due to a violent altercation with his ex-girlfriend, who later accused him of abuse and stalking. The rappers are focused on other issues during this clip, though, namely getting their racks up, though the lyrics admit stacking cash isn’t everything — “but I still can’t buy love,” they croon.

“Holy Smokes” follows up the first Trip At Knight single, “Miss The Rage,” which featured Playboi Carti. With two massive features on his first two singles, looks like Redd will be hitting up plenty of guests to appear on this new project. Redd also recentl guested on Uproxx’s own sessions showcase, performing “V12” off his 2020 Pegasus album. Considering Trippie just released that project a few months ago, it’s impressive and ambitious that he’s already readying another new project. But that’s the cadence that has become the norm for this new generation of hip-hop stars. Check out the “Holy Smokes” video above and look for more info on Trip At Knight coming soon.

Trippie Redd Brings The Fire With Lil Uzi Vert On ‘Holy Smokes’

Since breaking out with his debut project, A Love Letter To You, back in 2017, Trippie Redd has made it a point to deliver at least one full-length effort, if not more, to his fans every year. Highlight releases in the years that followed include 2018’s Life’s A Trip, 2019’s A Love Letter To You 4, and 2020’s Pegasus. Trippie will continue this streak with his upcoming effort, Trip At Knight, but not without calling for a prior collaborator in Lil Uzi Vert for their latest track together, “Holy Smokes.”

Trippie and Lil Uzi celebrate their riches on the new track while listing the different ways they can spend their money and enjoy the lavish lifestyles that appear before them. While an official tracklist for Trip At Knight has yet to be revealed, the project is locked in for a July 23 release date, meaning fans will only have to wait an extra week before they can get their hands on it. Trip At Knight will feature the rapper’s previous single, “Miss The Rage” with Playboi Carti, which became his highest-charting single when it debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard singles chart. Trippie also announced a 25-city tour for the album in partnership with Rolling Loud

As for Lil Uzi Vert, the track is the rapper’s latest guest feature, coming just a few weeks after he teamed up with Tyler The Creator and Pharrell for “Juggernaut.” In disappointing news, the new song also comes after he was accused of stalking and abusing his ex-girlfriend, Brittany Byrd.
